You illustrate another issue there by saying that you get monthly prescriptions. When people have previously discussed taking prescription medication abroad for a lengthy stay of 3 or more months (no longer and issue because of Brexit!!!) it seemed some doctors only give, one or two months at a time rather than three months which I am lucky enough to get. The result would be people paying far more than the Government estimate and it was one of the issues I raise when I completed the online survey.
You are also right that the triple lock is under threat. Even if it seems generous on paper the actual amount of increase is quite small and a hefty increase in Council Tax, plus gas and electric will soon erode any benefit. Another thing that perhaps people haven't yet cottoned onto is the fact that the personal income tax allowance has been frozen for the rest of this Parliament. The impact that has on those with modest pensions is that every year their tax bill will increase making them poorer. OK it also applies to working people but the way the employment market is going wages will rise quite a lot in the next few years. The company I worked for has just given all their HGV drivers a £5000 a year increase. Us pensioners will get crumbs.

Simple answer to one of your problems David I do get my meds ordered on line BUT there are certain items that come in 28s or 56s and there are more days in the months than that so I order all my goodies on the 3rd, so later this month it will be on the 27th, a gain of a couple of days, then in Sept about 21st/22nd two more days gained. After a while I had a stock of meds allowing me to carry on as normal, even when I'm touring Outer Scotland !! Only a couple of times have I requested A two month supply please Mr Doctor Sir
Meds inc insulin are ALL carefully lined up in date order -- no time expired stuff chez Brian I assure you !Now nearing the end of the Marathon so I'll wish you all Good Night, Sweet Dreams

I have to grovel for my holiday prescriptions too, we are only allowed one month at a time and despite my best efforts mine are out of sync, so every two weeks I have to order ahead. As these are bp related I would imagine they're fairly cheap and cheerful cost wise. A friend's husband has specialist asma medication which costs 25k a year. How this could ever be sorted out equally is a huge task but I would imagine free prescriptions for all produces a massive drain on resources.
Nellie, thanks for the Otley info! Might just visit from further away.
Watched the Broadway music on the Proms last, really enjoyed it.
Have managed a walk round the village this morning, just on the lanes, must do more before everything seizes up!

Fortunately our surgery still maintains a three month supply for each prescription and its available for re-order 10 weeks after the previous issue. Not that we probably will be but it does allow you to build up a buffer if we were going abroad. The medication question, when going abroad, has become a bit academic as people are going to be restricted to the 90 days, in the EU at least. Whilst a lot of prescriptions are issued automatically through computer systems these days there must be a degree of inconvenience to both surgery and patient in reducing the issue time to one month. Perhaps someone has just set it up wrong on the computer?

Eldest Son and his wife have been to London for the weekend and they have a house cat. So we have been charged with visiting yesterday evening and this morning not only to feed him but to provide some company for him. We have looked after our other Sons dogs overnight before at our house which is relatively easy but I don't think that is true of a cat, especially one that is indoors all the time with half an eye to escape!!!

We use something called Systmonline (the e is missing!) Our medications are all listed and if they are available to order we just tick a box and the prescription is sent to our designated pharmacy. There is an option to request extra medication but you have to explain why! We can order via the phone but there are so many layers of messages to go through its far easier online.

We use Systmonline as well. Although the chemist is now promoting another App. Plus I think I can order them through the NHS app. Not sure why so many different systems are needed. I have been getting 56 day prescriptions for some time and like ABM built up a buffer to cover the lengths of trip we do. OH has only recently started repeat medication and initially she was put on 28 days. When we were away earlier this year she requested extra and was given 56 days worth. Since then the prescription interval has been left at 56 days, which is much more convenient. Our practiced stopped taking phone requests for prescriptions on the 1st of June. It’s online or post a paper request in the box now.

Good afternoon one and all.
Here in lovely Wales I order our repeats online through a Third Party sorting house which then sends it onto the surgery. I currently order 2 lots of 28 days worth but if going for longer the surgery will grant it if I tell them the circumstances. They used to give me 4 months when we use to disappear abroad for that amount of time but not done that for quite a few years now.
Not a lot happening here this morning as it was raining off and on, more on than off, most of the time. Just been out for a clear the head stroll and guess what? Yep, it's raining.
Glad to hear you are mobile again Brue if only for short length.

Trip to the Solway yesterday, 240 mile round trip, to fetch the van back, left home at 06.40 and got there at 09.10 to find the holidaymakers still eating breakfast, so we got some tea and toast. Heavy rain in areas on the way down, and rain there overnight, so awning is still wet, need to get it out again on a dry day, hopefully soon.
Took a while to get everything packed away and the car loaded, so it was 11.10 before we were off the site. Arranged to meet in a good lay-by for a picnic lunch in the van, and I had a short snooze before we set off home.
Today they came up to our house to retrieve all their stuff, some of which would not fit in their car, so the rest is now in our car for delivery tomorrow.
It would seem they are quite taken by caravanning, so are now looking at a week away in October, hopefully somewhere not quite so distant!

Good to hear you're mobile again brue, let's hope it continues 😉
Glad your daughter and family enjoyed caravan holiday KjellNN, if they are off again you'll have to set a maximum distance and ensure its ready to hitch when you arrive 😉🤣
DavidKlyne beautiful looking cat but who's idea was it that it's a house cat? By the sound of it not the cat.
Great August day here, not, heavy showers, strong winds about 17c. Brrrrr. Just watching closing Olympics ceremony. Had a bit of a lie in which resulted in arriving for a good run at the local estate just as the heavens opened....... never mind. Made it to the coast Friday, nice change of scenery, Dora, who only dips her paws in water if its extremely warm, rushes in and out of the sea, up to her shoulders. Yesterday I felt under the weather so short walk before the groomers for her and she'd have to be grateful. Think I might have a bit of a cold, testing myself just incase this morning all good.
Prescriptions used to be so easy but they're not now! Used to be 2 months for me and 3 months for OH, cut back to 1 month. Just used go ask or phone at our local independent chemist next door to our surgery of 2 site GP's. Not now - online, but I couldn't sort, or the PRINTED COPY of requirements! We are out of sync for OH, some started at different times don't help, but 2 lots of the expensive ones, it says on the label "specialist prescribed", are given 2 months at a time. Since the pandemic our surgery has been closed, they'd shut it for 2 days a week previously so we all knew what they wanted in the future and now they've been handed a get out of jail card, we've had a questionnaire by text on how it's closure - because it cannot be made covid secure 😉, will impact us. Instead of walking, we now have to drive across town for anything GP related, just as the county council is trying to implement more walking and cycling and making roads VERY unfriendly to cars. You couldn't make it up!

Mixed day here, weather wise, sunny/showers. Got up to find my back has seized up. Not thankfully sciatica, but waist area of spine, ok to bend down, it’s straightening I can’t do. Couple of inbuprofen, and a gentle stroll with pooch have got me moving, but annoyed as I wanted to continue work on moving our greenhouse today. Fingers crossed nothing too strenuous will cure it in a couple of days. On the plus side, some shoes I ordered have arrived and seem fine with my prescription insoles. Shoes/feet are the bane of my life at the moment. 🙄

Apparently it is a special breed of cat, don't know the name, that are best if you want a house cat. He is pretty young so I suppose natural curiosity makes him want to explore? My son has been working from home so there is nearly always someone around and I think that was why he was worried about him hence our two visits. He does go out into the garden but on a harness and long lead.

He's very handsome David! Our local animal rescue centre has two beautiful sibling cats, both white and totally deaf. They are looking for someone who will build them an outside run attached to the house etc. I'm afraid our Moggie takes his chances in the big bad world, we try to keep him in at night as it can get pretty rowdy out there sometimes....🐱🐭 he's snoring in his basket by me just now.
Look after your back TDA! I've just ordered some shoes to get me out and about again, my walking shoes are too heavy at the moment but I needed some trainer type thingys (never wear trainers normally) but needs must.
Horrible weather, sunshine, feels like summer, then showers and cold winds, feels like autumn, can't make up it's mind. Our hedges are totally out of control, a lot to sort out.

Been a mixed day here weather wise very warm but cloudy with the odd rain shower. Been a day at home today finally got round to giving the Volvo a clean as it had 1500 miles worth of dirt on it from our July trip away then cleaned my bike. Heading away on Friday for a couple of nights just local so will need to start getting the caravan ready during the week.
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend

Our GP had a good on line system for ordering repeat prescriptions, but a few years back they switched to the "Patient Access" system as that also supposedly allows on line booking of appointments, but unfortunately it does not seem to work very well, and if you get locked out, it is a major headache to get re-instated!
Seems mainly OK for repeats, we get 8 weeks at a time, but can order ahead if taking a longer holiday.
B2.......they had packed up quite a bit, but there was a lot to go in our car, so that had to be dealt with. Then various things in the van had to be put back in their correct places, which they had not really taken in when being instructed, and the load correctly distributed for travelling.
They seem keen, even asking if there was a van big enough for them that they could tow with DDs car, despite SIL having previously said he was not keen on towing.I doubt they would find anything that they could tow that would suit as neither of them have a licence to tow an over 3500kg outfit, so they would need to sort that first and then also get a new car, DD's Volvo V40 is 19 years old now, and fitting a tow bar to it would probably cost more than the car is worth!
I have not forgotten about the sponge recipe for you, we have now asked twice without success.......she has had a lot on her mind.

KjellNN, My prescription ordering system is via "Patient Access" too but all my appointments are booked on telephone after I receive the relevant instructions from the Surgery's Clerical Division ( a k a Receptionists
) and I'm now awaiting the 6monthly demand for a blood sample so I'll need a physical appointment unless my old employer, BT, has discovered a new way to use cordless phones
. This weeks meds came with a card telling me I can book a Flu' jab from the same pharmacy but I'll hang fire on that til I've heard from the Surgery ( see Above ) in case they decide to do a flu + Covid session together - that could save me a thimbleful of diesel !DK, Gorgeous moggy there, Might nip round & nick him for my aged Sister

SteveL, Brian hopes that you are not inferring that he is an old Buffer

KjellNN thank you re the sponge recipe.
Kids don't you just love'm? It would be lovely if they could sort out a 'van of some sort - you could share holidays 😉. they'd have to pay attention to loading and weights though.
takethedogalong hope your back continues to improve, it is jolly annoying when it happens - usually when you've got an idea in your head.
Brue good luck with your foot wear. I have 3 pairs of Vionic sandals in the house at the moment, yes we are almost bankrupt 😱. 2 pairs, in the sale very good looking and nice with shorts or dress/skirt, wonderful arch support but strap cuts into bunion when sitting so can't imagine proper wearing 😤. Considering they are allegedly designed by podiatrist it happens very often 🤐. The other pair are good everywhere including the bunion area wedge with very slight heel but they look so clumpy and plasticity especially at their price. But will be great for walking. Will have to whizz into our Co-op tomorrow to see what they have in their very limited range.
Our cats have always taken their chances in the big wide world and lived to a good age, including a deaf white one.
This morning about 0930 I had to do a treble take when looking out into the garden from the kitchen through the open conservatory door. A young fox was staring back at me from about 20 feet away body concealed by a flowerbed. About Dora size but upright ears, didn't think Dora in the garden but still had several looks, eyes and ears appeared wrong, which they were. After taking everything in it turned tail, it had a lovely cream end to its brush and disappeared silently over the 6 foot fence. I assume it was hungry so will put extra food out tonight, we have plenty of dried food madam refuses.......

Terrible morning gale force winds, rain, but the afternoon has been brill especially if you like kite boarding or wind surfing. I took my bathers when i cycled out earlier but sea much to rough for me, not a strong swimmer since i had my knees replaced. Next week the weather is supposed to be much improved, Sorento in for MOT, Service and aircon re-gassed on Tuesday, another arm and a leg no doubt, it has not turned a wheel for nearly 2 weeks, should def have looked at that "BYMILES" insurance that JVB uses, they would have to be paying me just now.
we use the NHS app for prescriptions, brill put in what you need, there is even a comments box so if you want additional stuff i request it in the comments box and hey presto it appears 4 days later at the local pharmacy, we get 3 months supply on 1 script, i suspect the policy at the surgery is "keep em sweet with their prescriptions and they wont bother us with other stuff, such as appointments"

I was debating between Vionics and Sketchers footwear to be honest. I have a good pair of Sketchers trainers, that work very well with my prescription insoles. I am wary about the Vionics, suspect that because they do give more support, they wouldn’t have worked as well with my insoles. Better quality shoes are often like this, sort of a half way house, and often more than double the price. In the end, I went with another carefully chosen pair of Sketchers. Had them on all day with my insoles in, so far they are great. Good price as well.

Been a rainy and windy few days (very yesterday) so been using tearooms to dodge the rain. Today we bought a picnic to eat in car on Newlands. But all set to improve from tomorrow and should be back outdoors from Tuesday.
First pic was Grasmere yesterday and our picnic view today.

Have used that Grasmere bus stop many times Corners, in similar weather and on nice days too!
Rufs, did you see anything of the Fastnet start?
B2 interesting to hear about your deaf white cat surviving OK. The two rescue cats I mentioned always had special accommodation, owner died, so maybe won't adapt safely?

We like to stop at Greens cafe and bistro when in the area. Just down the road from where you took your photo I think.
Seems you are getting typical L.D. summer weather. Patience always needed.

I think you're right, ours was ?a stray?, who arrived and adopted us. She was beautiful and managed well. She wasn't spayed when she arrived at about 5 months old, may have been dumped because she was deaf. We loved her she was about 10 when she died.

Another great day, bit of a sea haar first thing but it soon burned off.
Took the bikes out along the old railway line to Buckie then on to Buckpool and Port Gordon where we had a picnic lunch sat by the sea.

On our return journey we noticed a few folk taking photos of something but couldn't see what. We stopped and went back for a closer look, only a colony of seals basking in the sun and playing in the sea

The weather has been great considering how awful it is just about everywhere else, especially where we live. We've had a lucky few days so far and tomorrow looks to be good to.
Re prescriptions we order ours online through patient services, we get 2 months at a time but can re order again after one month. We also have a comments box if you require anything else, like an old prescription. We can make appointments on the same site as well.
I've got 3pairs of Skechers trainers all slightly different but all lovely and comfortable. If I'm not in toe posts its trainers or boots in winter, rarely nowadays do I wear proper shoes.
Brue good to hear you are managing to be a bit more mobile.

Glad to hear you are a bit more mobile brue. I have 3 pairs of Sketchers and love them. All very light and comfortable. I never wear proper shoes these days either TG.
Our lovely cat Millie, who died last year, was totally deaf for the past few years of her life. She was very distressed when she first lost her hearing but once she adapted she (and we) managed very well. We had to adapt as well so that we didnt startle her. We always made sure she could see us before touching her. She didnt go outside our garden either as presumably she felt safe there. At least bonfire night didnt bother her anymore.

Nellie, thanks for the Otley info! Might just visit from further away.
Brue, I can recommend Lower Banks Farm CL at Huby, No.1677 in SD. On the less busy side of the Wharfe and closer to Harrogate to. WN should be along shortly to back up my suggestion.
