Daughter and partner are off to a caravan in a Cornish field today..no services and no one else around, there are quiet spots. Only thing is we get the dog as he doesn't get on with the nearby resident dog. (family visit)

Hope you enjoy your onward stay David. I think better weather is on the way. ☀

Thanks Brue.  Off to Putts Corner CAMC on Friday, then Devizes C&CC.  Home for one night, to drop off the caravan, and then Outer Hebrides for a week to visit our eldest daughter and husband who live on the island.  We'vechires a cottage for the week.  Fingers crossed for the weather... just started very fine rain/ drizzle here... now I'm off to get the car tyre done!  🙂🙂

Have a good day everyone.  I'll pop in later....

    David

Ah, but you and we know that if you avoid the busy spots, and have the legs to walk further than 400 metres from the vehicle, heaven lies in the next Cove!😁 Just got to work out how to transport the pooch now, he sadly has trouble walking more than 400 metres🤔

Wont be long now for us. How long you down there M, we arrive 3rd September, but right down in Marazion.

I have been put on "enforced tidying duties" this morning, to make space for the very large shower enclosure arriving tomorrow.

"My room" has apparently got back into a "bit of a state" over the last few months so I have to sort that and then move some caravan stuff out of the next door room so the shower enclosure can join the toilet, basin, radiator, large heated towel rail and large shower tray already in there.  Also have some tiles to move from elsewhere.

We are hoping to get our en suite refitted in early October, so have been accumulating the required items well ahead, having seen the problems both our daughter and our son have had getting the items they wanted.

Still to get are the tile trim and cement and grout, and later, a new worktop to fit the basin into.  I will however be fitting those myself, so no hurry to get the worktop, it is rather bulky and will have to lie flat on the hall floor for a while to acclimatise, so we do not want to order it too far ahead!!

Dull and wet here today.  We have a dinner invitation from DD as  a thank you for the loan of the caravan, so off down there mid afternoon.

Only 1 tyre DSB OH has been looking to replace all 4 on his Landcruiser and wants the same as on it as spare is new a bit pricey but has to be done last time they were changed was in UK so a bit cheaper even though they are Goodyear Wranglers HP and all 5 changed and as France is still deciding about winter tyres from November to March which will mean my will have to be changed as well, but decision is upto each departmental prefectures and we have not had any snow for about 5 years now.

Off for my 2 year breast screening check tomorrow and first appointment at 8.30am so hopefully we can get back home before it gets to hot, at least at that time we can get into the free car park and walk over the river Lot into town and see how the beach side area next to the river looks,  apparently very popular and will all go by end of this month.

Wow!!! we have a funfair etc in Lee on the Solent this coming weekend, and as the weather is set fair the town will be packed, but today i went swimming on the outskirts of the town as the tide was well in and the water very deep and clear, and i guess there were not more than a dozen people on the beach, my solar panels are showing 25kw generated today so well pleased with that laughing

No such luck with our solar panel today Rufs, its rained most of it. How many panels do you have?

Went to fetch the MH back from the dealers, job not done and they won't be getting it back again.

Its been a frustrating day of sorting out paperwork ahead of our trip to Europe. Think we are just about there now. So hopefully I can relax a bit now.

Off to the opticians tomorrow to get by specs adjusted the nose pieces are rather tiny and keep digging in, the legs feel a bit tight so will get them sorted to.

Caravan to empty tomorrow as its going in for its hab service on Friday. Most of the things still in there will just go into the MH as we took out a fair bit when we got back yesterday.

Redkite, keep some of that lovely weather for the end of the month we are coming over.cool Good luck with screening.

16 panels in total, bungalow is south facing so we have 8 on the east side of the roof and 8 on the west which works quite well as we get full sun in the morning and in the evening and sort of halfy halfy mid day.

quite dull this morning but blue sky showing over the IOW, I asked the Captain of this ferry this morning to wait for you TG coolunfortunately he was sailing into Portsmouth laughing

P.S. my last Q feed in tarrif was £304 whopee !!!

If that’s in Newquay, then it’s a place we never visit. They will be long gone before we get there😁

I hope Penzance is well prepared for Tof B. First time we watched finish of a Stage on Dartmoor (Haytor), there were around 250,000 people around all in that vast bowl area of the moor. Many, like us, hiked across part of moors just to get there for day. Starts and finishes are usually heaving, but there’s usually thousands lining the route as well. Olympic medallist Tom Pidcock is riding, possibly others as well, I haven’t checked yet.

They're preparing now TDA, according to local TV news. Daughter is staying near the first stage in W. Penwith at the moment so I'll hear from her what it's like.

Newquay isn't somewhere we visit either but obviously popular, shops and eateries have been under severe pressure to keep up with demand.

I'm sure you'll have a great time seeing it all. smile

25Kw was a good result. My roof is south facing although I get a bit of shade from around 16.30 from the Poplar across the road on the west side. My result yesterday was 19.6Kw. Even without the tree I doubt I'd have topped 23Kw.

We also have 16 panels, roof faces 15 degrees west of south, I think our best ever in one day was 28.7 kwh.

Our quarters run Jan/Feb/March, April/May/June etc, last 4 quarters have yielded, working backwards, £795 (same quarter last year was £881), £287, £240, £630, so it  has been quite a good year, even being so far north,  though not our highest ever production.

With such miserable interest rates these days, the panels have been a good investment.

absolutely, paid £5k for install some years back, had a bit of a windfall, looked at all the options for getting a return on £5k and panels came out tops, not getting quite as much as you as we are way off south facing but getting a very good return, never worked out exactly how much we save particularly during the summer from using solar power but it is quite substantial, using approx £1.10 average per day from the grid.

Our Feed in Tariff contract is for 20 years so lots more to come, did look to put in Lithium batteries to store electricity but that was very expensive, SIL is putting them into Beach House x2, darent ask how much they cost but if the price is governed by the weight then it will be expensive, I struggled to lift just one end.

Just back from getting a new cassette seal from Robinson’s caravans at Worksop. Normally you have a problem getting the car through the gates and into a parking space, because of all the caravans. They are rammed into every available space. Today there was acres of space. As we were in the vicinity we called into a large brand new Asda that has opened there. Apart from having the smallest fresh fish section I have seen at a large supermarket, although having a sushi bar,😂 it also had very few staffed checkouts. There were only 6, everything else was the self scan sort, some for a trolly, others for baskets. Plus those for the devices you can take round with you. Not seen anything as paired down before. Perhaps a model for the future. Hope they’ve sorted the unexpected item in bagging area issue, otherwise the queues come Christmas will be horrendous.

Ours have been in almost 10 years now, so we paid a lot more than that, but are on the highest FIT.   Took us 9 years to replace the capital and lost interest, much higher interest rates back then, but we have a 25 year contract for the FIT so 16 years of profit.

At the moment the FIT more than covers our gas and electricity bills.

Breast screening all done in 8 minutes helped being the first one in and all clear and back home by 9.30am,  not many folk about this morning.

Had some cloud around noon with thunder but only a few heavy spots of rain and very warm 32C phew, so it was a few inside chores.

Could do with some solar panels here  with this weather at present.

Same here, we have 10 panels facing south. Had them put in in December 2011. Like you the fits are on the highest rate and more than cover our electric and LPG. Good investment.

SteveL, its the same at the big dealer near us the area outside where its usually rammed is virtually empty, even in the showroom there is only half the new vans they would normally have. None are for sale, all demo's. Worksop was my place of birth, still have loads of relatives there.

It was decent weather this morning, so after coming back from town I made a start on moving some stuff from caravan to MH. Its raining now.

Had to go back into town to the library this afternoon to get them to check my tablet. They have changed their ebook reader to another company, this is the third one in a few years.

Turns out my tablet is not compatible to their new system. Well I'm not buying another tablet, I'm fed up with this throw away attitude. My tablet works fine, does what I require it to do why should I change it. I will revert to buying books on line or reading real books until such time I need to change it.

Had a busy couple of days.

Actually got around to doing some planting in the garden after our clearances of the last week. So we had a trip out to choose what was on offer but some will only last this year but that's ok as the ladies know what they want.

Took a longish trip today up the motorway to look at some light weight ebikes. If we go for them, which looks likely, it will save us about 16 kgs when carrying them in the caravan, plus recent results show my condition to be getting worse so my energy reserves need all the help they can get.😁 Have to look to sell our existing 3 year old ones.

Off for a scan tomorrow. Really surprised to receive summons bearing in mind backlog. It was/is due in August but thought it wouldn't happen this year never mind on time.

Good luck with the scan Wherenext. A friend of ours got called in for a knee op much earlier than expected, second knee replacement, so some areas must be getting through things better than others?

OH still busy doing daughter's bathroom, on his own now they've gone away. A small bathroom but quite a bit to do, moving a wall etc. Don't think he'll volunteer again, too much time out of our days and very tiring.

We've volunteered to help out at a county wide arts event mid September so need to conserve our energy.

I've just booked an outdoor HMS Pinafore performance locally, (Illyria Theatre) not sure about wearing a mask outside all evening, seems slightly bizarre...OH asked if the singers would be wearing them too....wink

Well like buses you wait 60 plus years for Skiddaw and two visits in one month. Last time it was a solo event but this time a family trip. A quieter route via Skiddaw House and one I would recommend to the tourist one, far easier and saw no one. A bit windy on the top with speeds of 30/40 mph but at least it was a warm wind.

Can you provide a few more details Brue. We're knocking around Somerset or Dorset in mid September and as you know Mrs.WN likes her art (so do I come to that). Might try to catch it if we're in the area.

Our new shower enclosure arrived this afternoon, luckily not when it was pouring rain.  The delivery man kindly carried the 3 boxes into the house for us, he was a big strong fellow, needed no help.

We then unpacked each one and checked for any damage before DD and I took the panels through to the spare room, can barely get in the door there now.   I will need to study the installation instructions so I know the installers are getting  it right, there are a lot of bits and pieces !!

DD and the boys then stayed for dinner with us as SIL was out meeting a friend.  Callum eventually polished off 5 fish fingers, a pile of chips, and a small mountain of peas, followed by a plateful of strawberries and homemade ice cream.

They went off home at 7.30, and  by 8.30 apparently he was saying he was hungry, so had to eat his "emergency banana" that he takes with him to his room in case he gets hungry during the night!

Good to hear folks getting medical bits sorted. Glad your scan clear Redkite, we have to wait for a letter a few weeks later. Good luck with yours Wherenext.

Brue I hope your foot continues to improve too.

Heddlo what a little cutie, enjoy your week..don't suppose you'll need much rocking come bedtime with the entertainment and watchful essentials required.

KjNelln Callum sounds like a good eater, about to have a growth spurt I expect. Not been lately, obviously, but our granddaughters in NZ pack food away - its 3 hearty meals plus 3 substantial snacks, every day. Breakfast, mornin, and grandsong tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, supper.

Meeting son, DIL harvesting so he's taking his parental leave, and grandson about halfway at a new to us both country park today so I must get going.

Hope the scans go well WN, and the bike search. Good time to be plant hunting as well, lots of stuff in sales at the moment.

Must be that time of year, getting medical stuff sorted. I have had a niggling tooth for a few weeks. Decided to get it checked out as didn’t want it to flare up in Cornwall, knowing what it’s like to try and get anything sorted down there. It’s a wisdom tooth, seemingly decided to die, so been referred to our hospital with a view to saying a final goodbye to the blinking thing. Not had a peep out of it for last couple of days, but sure it will roar into action again at the least convenient moment.

We are off to an outdoor theatre event too, Macbeth at Nostell Priory. Haven’t been to one for ages, so a nice treat.

Just seen OH out onto the road to Louth with MH. The old girl is having a brand new full exhaust fitted today at an specialist garage.
