Hay baler going round field, tea break so it's quiet for a few minutes. I like the sound of the baler until I hear something clanking and I know it will grind to a halt...
Extra dog here so we had an early walk, he is always spooked by other animal noises so we had to entice him round the horse field today.
With a short break coming up OH can now take a rest from bathroom improvements, especially after unpacking daughter's new bath and discovering it was damaged...more showers here.
Good to hear holidays are going well.
Too hot to do anything!

Scorchio here today. Too hot to sit out in garden midday period. We had a lovely meet up with our friends in our garden yesterday, great to really get together again. OH is going out on bike (Mad Dogs and Englishmen springs to mind🤷♀️) while I do lunch for Mum and Sis. After that, it’s watch the Paris Stage of TdeF. Fingers crossed Cav and his team can deliver him first across the line, but it’s a huge ask, anything could happen.

I did most of the holiday washing yesterday - last load in this morning (the ironing is another matter and will probably have to wait until the weather is cooler). We then tackled some of the dead heading, cutting back and general tidying in the garden. We spent a lovely evening in eldest son's garden yesterday evening. It was lovely to catch up with them and their news. Today is another scorcher and I can't seem to settle to any of the jobs that need doing

Glad to hear that Francis is having such a good time and that WN had such a good journey yesterday. I hope all planned tips go well and that any dogs involved stay safe and cool in this weather.

Quite overcast off and on here now, was sunny earlier so now stiflingly (is that a word?) hot here.......doors all all open, fans running, but still 28 degrees inside.
Worn out now, been emptying the van to go for service, about half done, will get the rest tomorrow. Having a rest and a very light lunch before my "play date" with Callum.
OH is on her 3rd load of washing, probably still 2 to go apparently. We opted not to take our little WM with us, so there is a full 5 weeks of clothes to get through.
Her foot is much better, but the big toe is still painful to walk on, and trying not to bend the toe joint when walking has now given her sore muscles up the back of the leg.

Up a bit earlier than usual this morning. Out for a 2 hour stroll at Upton upon Severn. Lovely little town.
Back for lunch. We were going out but it's far too hot so Mrs WN happily drawing and I'm about to get stuck into a book.
Whilst I remember, Francis a fellow caravanner in the village recommended a visit to the Morgan factory in Malvern. He went on it a few years ago and said it was brilliant. Not my thing and I don't know what they are doing about visits due to covid but if you are ever this way in the future in sounds like it would be right up your street. Enjoy your holiday.

Have done the Morgan factory visit very interesting, my mum used to live about half mile down the road from Morgan Factory, an old work colleague from years ago (50) who used to have her holiday with her grandad who was chief car tester for Morgan so up and down the Guarlford straight an usual way to spend your school holidays
Same here Goldie a lot of farm vehicles about with machinery on the back or trailers of hay making the most of the weather and more been made this year due to so much rain which is unusual for this area, good to see some greenery about instead of brown fields everywhere.
Had a nice drive out and a picnic in a spot we know about very few folk about saw a group of four cyclists with all their packs on looked like they were camping with tents on the back of their bikes all around early 20's not my idea of a holiday but we are all different, glad to get back as very warm at 30C.

Back home again, had a good drive through the Great Glen. Stopped for lunch along Loch Earn, lots of wild campers along the banks and in the lay-bys. Still cloudy but a bit warmer than we were yesterday.
MH unloaded, washing now done, only 3 loads as we were only away a week. All hanging out in the garden.
Shopping tomorrow morning then gardening in the afternoon.
Good to hear Francis and WN are enjoying their break.

Despite the heat, the car said 32c all the way home, round trip to view a house, fabulous but need to sell ours to secure this one. Other still a possibility but seller needs to find somewhere..... All very stressful.
Very quick mad glimpse of family who were out this morning, each somewhere different, and hosting a bbq at 2pm. So out 7 hours driving for about 5 of them. Still got to do a short walk with the dog now it's cooling down. Was roasting at 7am when her and I went over the estate for a good walk.
KjellNN good to hear your home and busy already and plenty more to come. Hate to add to your list but I'd love your daughter's sponge recipe again please when you get the chance. I have noted down what I can remember and it will be investing to see if I'm right. Oven temp is the really iffy one!
Glad folks home and away are enjoying their time.

Maybe when I have done the ironing robsail 😁. So sorry to hear that your son is back in hospital but good news that you can visit for an hour. I do hope you get some better news soon. Best wishes to you all.

It's the same the country over it would appear, brue, as I've seen 3 different balers with guys working on them, and lots of abandoned scraggly bales where the string has come off.
Easy drive down and across to our CL, but a warm one with temp of 29C+. Traffic was ok going our way but queues building up on the north bound M6 from the Blackpool turnoff South to the junction of the two motorways beyond the Tickle Trout.
Sorry to hear that your son is back in hospital, Robsail. Hope it won't be for too long.
Sounds like a hectic day, B2, Hope that it was all worth while.
All those that are away have a good time, and for those waiting to go hopefully the weather will stay fine and dry for your trips.

Robsail sorry to hear your son is back in hospital, hopefully they will be able to sort out his meds and he'll feel better. Hospital visiting seems a nightmare, a friends MIL is in with broken pelvis, she's in her mid 90's, they can only visit individually but in the same session. It's a 2 hour drive to get there, don't know if there's a time limit for each. Hopefully it won't be for too long.
Goldie read elsewhere that your son has tested positive for Covid, hope he's not too badly affected and that you can all carry on as usual, self isolation when you're very self contained can be a blessing. Fingers crossed the rest of you stay covid free.

Yes, first my Grandson, who at 17 had not been vaccinated, then his father who had his second jab a month ago. They've both had symptons and have managed to almost live apart from our daughter in law who is still negative. (We have a classroom for school visits attached to their house, complete with small kitchen and shower room).
My husband and I are also negative (I never go out of the house - our two houses are in the same yard). But we've had to rearrange working so my husband is never with James. And our farm man isn't coming back unitil everyone is clear. And our Grandson was worst affected so mainly stays in his room.
So silaging was a bit of a long tiring stretch with only two men. It usually takes three. Sanitising sanitising sanitising.

Talking to some members on site. It seems many are glad masks are to be optional. from today, and only one other so far has called for them to remain a legal requirement
It is going to be a very unsafe environment from now on

Much cooler this morning with quite a lot of cloud cover and still a nice cool breeze off North Sea

Had a run out yesterday to keep the Ducato's battery charged but only saw a couple of B-I-G farm tractors out { Well it was Sunday } definitely aware of much farm work going on tho'.
Due to the high temperatures I had the windows and vents open to let in some cooler air but the gentle aroma of muck spreading came in with it ! I could have avoided it by staying in the glorious town of Cr**e but not even ABM could tolerate THAT !
Stay Safe Stay Chilled

All the best to you and your family Goldie.

Same here Goldie.
Also to Robsail and family. Hope the hospital stay improves things.
We are heading for the Isle of Purbeck this week which was classed as tropical by the met office due to the overnight temperatures...wondering how we'll cope on a tree less rally field!?
B2 thanks for your previous shoe advice. My new Clarks walking sandals had already arrived. They look nice, feel comfortable but I suspect they won't last as long or go as far as my previous ones. Anyway I'm in flip flops now, too hot for anything heavier.
Hope your house searches prove fruitful B2.

Hope things get sorted for you Robsail, it’s still a very very difficult time for those who need hospital care of any kind.
Another scorching day here, after a very hot night. Lots of reports of folks requiring treatment for sunburns, getting caught out. Our garden looks like a tea room at the moment, so many parasols in different areas. Easy to move around though. Going to sort out MH today, we have a day out planned this week, not far, a very nice garden. OH was out on his bike in Strines area yesterday, said it was rather quiet for a Sunday. Must be lots of folks opting for coast at the moment.
Ruf’s, sorry to hear about your MIL, never easy, but thoughts are with your family.

What's Wrong with Cr**e I hear [ read actually ] ??
Just about everything, that's what ! There are two good things I can think of actually -- The Queens Park is one but even that is not the place it used to be when Daily Mystery Tour Buses used to arrive from North Wales coastal resorts !! { Indeed several friends holidaying in the Rhyl, Prestatyn, Llandudno area arrived back here to their amazement } The other and better thing is :-- the ease of departing from this building~site to other, more pleasant parts of the world !!

I met a group of friends for a drink at a garden centre this morning (sitting outside in the shade) and was pleased and relieved to see that everyone - staff and customers - were all wearing masks. All the hand sanitisers and distancing notices still in place. One of the friends told us that her daughter and grandson who live in London both have covid. Both have had both doses of the vaccine. Her daughter is very poorly. Take care out there folks.

Years ago we were coming back from the usual family holiday by train and my Dad got off at Crewe to get a cup of tea (does anyone remember those platform trollies alongside the train windows as the train pulled in?) Off went the train "without my old Dad in it".....and a drama unfolded as my mother worked out what to do and dealing with us crying that we'd lost our Dad. I can still see him now with the white railway cup and saucer in his hand!
(I think we were all reunited on a different train at Wolverhampton.)

Glad you enjoyed seeing the family and had a good holiday in Staithes Millie, and managed the hill! Funnily enough we overheard a similar conversation last week as we sat in a local garden about people with Covid that had received both jabs. Perhaps the vaccine doesn’t work well with the present variant? I’m probably not going to be nightclubbing anytime soon!!!!😷😉

Yes heddlo I think I will hold off on the clubbing for a few weeks so see how things go

"We are heading for the Isle of Purbeck this week which was classed as tropical by the met office due to the overnight temperatures...wondering how we'll cope on a tree less rally field!?"
good luck with that, my caravan on hard standing alongside drive, is south facing and i dont think the temp has been below 25c for over a week now even with the roof open overnight, just now it is showing 38c, just cycled to Stokes Bay with a swim included, outside temp just now 30c, but loving it, last time we had the caravan so hot was probably 2 years ago in Spain but the site we were on fortunately put sun blockers over all their pitches which gave some relief, I slept in the awning for almost a week with all the sides up on a camp bed with a good mosquito net.

I have put Isle of Purbeck on our to do list, some fantastic beaches in that area, enjoy your stay

We're away at the moment 'twixt Malvern and Upton -u-Severn.
Highest the heat in the caravan has reached is 38°. Takes until gone 10 pm to get it down below 20°. Luckily, it's in the shade first thing in the morning so it's ok until we come back from wherever we go.
Up and out by 9am this morning. Obviously the aliens have supplanted Mrs.WN with a döppelganger as she hates getting out that early. Mind you it helps being woken up by a Skylark in the next field who seems to like singing in the morning and late evening. Did nearly 3 hours of walking on The Malvern Hills then after lunch called in for a reviver on the way home. A nearby pub that sells Timothy Taylor and Mrs WNs favourite Cider, Mortimer. Might have to have repeat visit. Mind you, heat and alcohol do not mix so having to be good.
I understand the Met Office have issued a Severe Heat Warning covering South West of England, South Wales and parts of the Midlands which includes us until Friday.
Take care folks. Good to hear Nellie's trip was fine.
