Fantastic benches Millie.  We have a poetry trail here... but alas, no benches ☹

Sorry to hear about Flyte, Nellie.  We've just had a vet session with Lizzie, who has had an eye absess.  It's beginning to sort itself out now, fortunately, with the help of costly eye drops etc.

Just back from our Northumberland caravan trip, this afternoon.  Weather hasn't been too bad, fortunately.  Now time to get our breath before our holiday 'south'.

Beautiful day, off for morning dip, caravan looking very tempting but it will have to stay put until after July/August hols roads already very busy, hope folk are sensible and maintain some sort of social distancing so we dont all end up in lock down again. , must start limbering up for when this happens laughing

Northumberland has been a popular place on here this year and I think the weather has been better up there! Looks like reversal over the next week with high temps in the south.

We are off to stay on a rally field soon, just a short break. I checked out some SW  holiday accommodation but could only find two nights and a single bed! I also found a bothy for two on Exmoor, no "potable" water, a compost toilet and a mile trek to get to it. Anyway I passed the info on to middle child who likes that sort of thing. It was £28 a night, so I won't complain about site prices!!

Dull and grey skies so far today, when will they ever get the forecast right for our area.

Yesterday was forecast rain, it was lovely. Today forecast sun and to be warmer than yesterday. undecided

Recycle centre trip today, OH will need to get the trailer out the garage as I filled 5 big tubs with garden waste. Still got more scrubs that need a trim and the big hedges are still to be done but it will all have to wait as we are going away for a week in the MH come Sunday.

Must go and give a hand then get on with some food prep for meals to take away. Also need to sort out some clothes.

    Have a nice day folks.

Off to NYM site near Whitby on Monday so we've both been busy getting the van ready. Freezer now full, all the clothes in (I hope!) and beds made up. Meg's been scrubbed and her bed washed!  Dosed the water system with Puriclean - that'll get a rinse-out tomorrow so other than washing the van off this weekend, we're just about there, other than loading up the food.  Too hot to do anymore this afternoon - we've been basking in glorious hot sunshine for the last couple of days but I suspect that the rains will come as soon as I decide to wash to vansmile

We have had two lovely days here, managed to get a lot done in the garden, including getting lots of weed out of pond. Takes ages as everything is carefully sifted for tadpoles. Just watched last half hour of TdeF, awesome.

Didn't know DSB was in Northumberland at the same time as myself. Ships in the night.

We stopped off at Housesteads for 90 minutes this morning. Well done to MiL for climbing up to the Wall. We enjoyed getting to it through minor roads through some beautiful countryside. Day took a bit of a dive after that as the pub we were booked into for a lunchtime meal rang to say they all had to self isolate for the weekend. Owner was gutted to say the least. So we decided to head off towards home and make the best of it. Drove into and straight back of Tebay services. Nightmare.

Got a bite from M&S at Killington and finally arrived home some 6 and a half hours later. All a bit pooped but we thoroughly enjoyed the 2 weeks.

Have to unpack the caravan tomorrow as it's in for service on Monday. Also have to sort out a recall visit on the Kia as we had a letter awaiting us on return.

I fully agree with your sentiments Tammy. The weather forecasting has deteriorated. I can't trust the BBC one and tend to now check the Met Office first. They're normally ok for 48 hours but since the BBC changed from the Met Office they've been poor.

That sounded like an epic drive WN, we seem to have done a few of those ourselves recently. Next trip is much closer to home.

Don't know what to think of the higher temps forecast here for next week so will live on the bright side and believe the BBC. wink

OH is battling on with daughter's bathroom. More wood has arrived for him at home for another job so not much time to himself at the moment.

I've been looking at CLs in Devon, maybe just a few nights in August, but we'll be well in land so away from crowds.

Take care with those Cls Brue. I've seen quite a few reviews where the owners are exceeding the 5 van rule and not just with the odd van for 1 night. I was going to recommend Ashbury at Okehampton but it seems he has been a bit naughty with the number of vans and letting his standard slip if the latest reviews are anything to go by. I did see another one by Tavistock in the LA a couple of days ago that was also taking the mickey. Can't recall the name.

    Good luck with your search.

The drive would have been much worse going north so from that aspect we were fortunate. No real hold ups, some slowing every now and then but I've had worse.

Yes, I'll be careful with the booking. Just by chance I've found one that is on the CL owners booking app (the one we can't mention!) and I think they've all stated they're sticking to the 5 van rule. Waiting to hear via the app if a booking is ok. We rarely go away in August but I think a few short breaks will make a difference this year. smile

Hope that Ljzzie's eye is soon clear of the abscess. Vet's fees certainly make my eyes water!!

Good to hear that you, and WN, both have got home ok from Nothumberland. It will have been a longish drive back for both of you.

We've 2 CLs booked in Devon for the Autumn trip,as well as 1 in Somerset and 4 in Cornwall. Hopefully by the time we arrive the crowds will have dispersed.

We are off tomorrow for a week away.

Two CLs and a CCC site booked. Its OHs birthday on Wednesday a big one wink

Taking the MH this time, hence 3 moves in a week.

Weather has been very wet here this morning, not heavy rain just constant, gardens will be lapping it up. Drying up a bit know so will get out and finish loading the van.

I did a bit more cooking this morning, so all cooled and ready to go in the freezer to take away with us.

You have had a packed fortnight WN, hope you all enjoyed Northumberland. We love Hadrian’s Wall area, so much to see and do.

Our next trip into Cotswolds is still looking good. Quiet (hopefully) CL, some nice gardens, fingers crossed for some nice garden visiting weather. We might avoid M1 going down, use A46 instead and maybe drop in on Dick III in Leicester. Not sure yet🤔

Ttda, we did all thoroughly enjoy the break.

It was principally MiLs holiday so we just arranged our days to suit her. We told her that we would have no problem if she decided she didn't want to go if she didn't feel safe but she was adamant. "I've had both vaccines and I've no intention of spending the rest of my days not doing what I want to do" was basically her reply. We chose not to eat at a couple of places as we weren't satisfied with what we saw but generally we found NT, HHA and RHS places well run. And most afternoons were spent relaxing back at the cottages. Not sure she will feel the same when masks and social distance rules relax.

Good luck with your trip. We're off in the caravan ourselves next Saturday. A quiet CL in Worcestershire for a week. Need it after the last fortnight.😁

Hope you enjoyed your visit WN.  We stayed at South Meadows, near Bamburgh.  Nice site.  We didn't go inland as far as Housesteads, however, a few weeks back we visited it when we were staying just outside Carlisle.

Thanks Nellie.  We stopped at Durham Grange CAMC site on the way up to Bamburgh, and at Knaresborough CAMC site on the way back, to break the journey.  Safely home now, until our journeys South....  Give us chance to get an oil leak fixed on the car... Our next 'tour' will take us as far S. as Cornwall followed by one night hat home (and to drop off the caravan to storeage) before driving up to the Outer Hebrides for a week (rented a cottage for that little escapade!!)

Before the torrential rain and thunder last night  it has been quite nice weather, cool

As Oh has not that mobile now without her buggy wa gave been people watching the High speed arrivals and solo vehicles, and it seems not as others have written but a Broad spectrum of ages, and many it seems are very new LVs owners /users undecided

The thread about axle failures can also ,it seems be in part to how many are under real stress when some drivers not realising that the caravan or towed car has also to pass over the speed humps, as you can almost see daylight under the wheels of the trailer when the tow vehicle speeds up when clear, surprised

The good weather is coming in next week...I hope, 25C every day or something like it.

By mistake I left all the seat cushions on our outside chairs, looking very soggy, will have to leave them out now and hope they dry soon, maybe Monday the rain and dark clouds will go away?

OH has been constructing a new store for our recycling boxes, much sawing of wood in between the showers, looks good, an extension to the wood store. We have a new recycyling system. You need a degree to remember which day and what...the results of non degree holders can be seen waiting forlornly on the road side on the wrong days....black bins, green bins, little brown bins, black boxes, green boxes and blue bags (we can finally recycle plastic in the blue bags.) If we remember what day it is.....wink
