What are you all up to

We were married in 1979 and moved into our 'newbuild' house. We still live in the same house, but the house has grown with us, having extended 3 times! It suits us, and the location is ideal. I can't imagine moving.... that is what the caravan is for. 😃😃

I have to admit, we haven't had a takeaway since before the start of Covid. Neither have we been out for a meal. The nearest we have got to it is a drink and a piece of cake sitting outside a cafe, or sitting in the car outside Costa.... I do rather like the Salted Caramel Frostino... double blended and with cream..... 😃😃

I can understand DSB's reluctance to move house. I've been in ours for 18 years now, the longest of any house. The only advantage to frequent moves seems to be that it encourages a clearout of stuff (junk?).

Yes we've been here 36 years, others all less than 5 years. My parents had been in theirs since the week before I was born 😱 so just over 40 🤣🤣🤣🤣.
Luckily there was no loft and they sold part of the garden for a 4 bed house, which contained garages sheds and a summerhouse so a bit of a clear out as my youngest was born 30 years ago...... then adaptations the cloakroom and integrated shed about 20 years ago to accommodate dad's lose of a leg and mobility, just left 2 sheds a greenhouse and a summerhouse!! After spending ages sorting and finding homes for so much, including a great local charity that set up housing for the homeless, we still filled 2 large skips 🥲 as we had just been unlocked last summer and after much messing about wanting reductions and other rubbish stuff, the buyers asked for exchange and completion on the same day 10 days hence!! Stress stress and stress and securing a skip 😱.
I haven't had such a horde to dort through, but then I wasn't of the war generation who learned the hard way not to dispose of things that maybe useful in the future. We are definitely shaped by circumstances hence the throw away culture of today which I think is worse than the hoarding one...

37 years and counting in this, our only house we have ever had. If we move, and we might, it will be to somewhere we love more, and to downsize. If I had the choice, and the cash, I would love to buy a plot of land and put a nice log cabin (a proper one, not the holiday chalet type) on it. Probably need to downsize garden as well as we get older. Where to go is the dilemma........OH will be traumatised if he has to lose some of his bikes😂

Well some people appear to move more easily, I've been round to say hello to our second set of new neighbours and I totted up this was the 12th welcome call I've done since we moved in here (and we've had three homes in this village!)
Both sets of new neighbours seem very pleasant, I could just about see them over the removal boxes....

We have been in our current house for 33 years and at the moment don’t have any plans to move u less we had to for health reasons etc. Of our 5 children only 1 is left at home but we still have a lot of stuff in the loft belonging to the other 4 although slowly but surely it is getting emptied the worst place for “stuff” is in our garage which is full and really does need a clear out I always say we will do it be we are away too often in the van lol. If we were to move it would have to be in the same area as we do live in a nice area but would maybe downsize.

I moved to our present house for 3 years as the company I was working for promised me a work related bonus move to Norwich if things went well. Things did go well but they reneged on their promise so I left them. We're still in the house some 37 years later. Will probably downsize at some time and have considered Ttda's wishlist. However, we might be stuck for some time.
Went off to Cragside in Rothbury today. Must agree with Nellie's comment a few days ago as we also prefer the grounds to the house contents. Managed to stay dry for a walk around some of the immediate area to the house taking into account the hilly terrain and an 88 year olds ability to get up and down said hills and steps.
Called into Rothbury for a few essentials.

I think your “stuck” is possibly our “stuck” WN😁 Having said that, whilst I am not particularly fond of some aspects of our town, or certainly our local authority, (who I used to work for), where we live is nice, great neighbours, superb in terms of transport links, and it’s not far for some lovely day trips into some of the loveliest areas of UK, such as Dales, NY Moors, Peak District, Yorkshire Coast. We have a house and garden we love as well. Got a SIL who lives in a tourist honeypot, they simply don’t go out in Summer, or go away on holiday😂Swings and roundabouts.....

We have no wish to become "Unstuck" any time soon Ttda, as I'm sure you don't, but moving just now wouldn't produce anything tangible for us, either monetary wise or area wise so we'll just have to continue traipsing around the country with a tin house behind us.

Same here😁

We have lived in our present house since 1988. We moved in with 3 teenagers, a dog and 2 cats (we might have had a goldfish as well, I can't remember
). Now there are just the 2 of us living here and as of recently no animal companions. We have no wish to move though as we love our house and garden and although there are aspects of the neighbourhood we are not keen on we have good local shops, a good transport link into town and very good near neighbours. Our children would like us to downsize and I suppose it might come to that one of these days but for the moment we are staying put.0 -
We've lived in our house 31 years, its our first one we've owned. Having moved 17 times during our army days we had no intention of moving again. However things change and we've started talking about moving. The village has everything we need but its changed in the last few years and we are not sure if we want to see out our final years here.
I would like to move back to England and OH is keen on doing that but neither of us really knows where. I guess we will have to keep on going away to get our 'fix'
Funny sort of day here, weather dry and warm but not sunny.
I've been sorting things in the MH for our trip at the weekend. As we've not yet had the opportunity to take it abroad yet we've decided that this trip will be a trial run for when we do, so I've been packing things away under the seats to see how much room we have. So far so good, on the trips we've used it in UK we've not taken some of the things we would take abroad.
OH has been busy fitting a kitchen in our sons house up here. Its our eldest sons house, they live down in Tidworth. OH and our sons FIL have been working on it together when they manage to get the time.
Tomorrow looks like a gardening day.🙂

A Book Trail has just been installed in Peterborough. Book benches have been put in various places around the city centre. They have been designed by talented school children in the city based on their favourite books or characters. It is to encourage and promote literacy. These are the 3 in the Cathedral cloisters. They are amazing.

Lovely those Millie. Something else for us to see next visit 😁 Nice to see pops of colour up and down. Our town has some nice big copies of interesting art works dotted around on what would be bare walls. Some good sculptures as well.

All this talk about moving. I think we would find it an impossible decision to move away from MK. I was born in Southampton and Margaret in Newcastle upon Tyne, neither of us have a wish to return to the place of our birth. I just don't know where we would consider beyond where we live now. I don't think it's because we lack wanderlust but I suppose our hobby allows us to see many and varied places so no need to move?

This site was very slow yesterday TDA.

Was is over excited for the football?
No of course not, it started well before we started the preliminary rounds 😉
Edit I've found I have to press reply twice, once it goes grey with blue line round the box. Nothing, press it again blue line disappears, eventually the text disappears too. Then it's the bated breathe wait to see if my scintillating post appears 🤣🤣🤣. Not quite sufficient time to make a cuppa, but I can have several slurps.....

The benches look great Millie, I like "street" art when it has that sort of general appeal.
TDA there's still a delay with posts appearing. Same as B2.
OH is on bathroom refurbishment duties at daughter's home today. It's an old downstairs bathroom, in need of tlc. He' trying to get daughter's partner to do as much as possible, steep learning curve for the new DIYer.

Fabulous colour and imagination Millie.
Had a quick look at the news and wish I hadn't
"Man sits on toilet and gets bitten by Python" Why oh why can you not unread something? You are all probably thinking the same thing now.

Off to the jolly old seaside today. Last day here then homeward bound tomorrow. Weather is seaside weather and forecast to stay that way.
Enjoy whatever you do today folks.

We're now living in the house my husband was born in. When we married in 1970 we moved into a small house on the farm that had previously been let out. Three children later we moved into the large farmhouse when my widowed father in law died in 1996. We moved in the day he died - a farm needs someone on site - and gradually moved all our stuff round by tractor and trailer. Including a piano with someone playing it. We've had our children living back here for various lengths of time, but for some time it's just been the two of us. I like the space. I can be in a different part of the house and it feels completely different. I don't think we'll be moving any time soon.

So what am I up to today. Well not thinking about moving that is for sure. Having had a full career in the RAF we moved 23 times, we have lived in our present house for 11 yrs now and this is the longest period of residence in one house since I left home when I was 19. Today I have been trying to see what Covid rules will apply for our hoped for trip to France/ Germany/Austria/Italy in Sep. We do not need to make our decision until early Aug when hopefully things may be have eased a little. I hope the Club update their advice page as things change. Off shopping now- joy!!

We thought this was to be our forever home when we bought 36 years ago. Unfortunately things, including health can change dramatically and things have to be reconsidered. We are where we are! Just keeping our fingers crossed the blip is nothing more than a bump in the road. Don't need to sell our house, for this one, so not bothered about viewings etc, don't want buyers wanting us out! That's the really stressful part. If it's meant to be it will happen.
Only 2 houses on the market in one village and 7 in the other, regardless of price! Funny situation now. There were loads in each but I only if folks were flying a kite and hoping with the stamp duty? Well never know
Milliehull I love the benches, maybe next time we're up we'll get to see them. Quite a bit to cram in when we come to view, want to see the family however briefly as well. Property has sold whilst we have been on our journey 😱😱 and the agents email you...........
Anyone care to swop places? Thought not 🤣🤣🤣 unless you want a house swop!
Edit lovely walk with a friend and the dog, even fitted in a cuppa, warm but rarely sunny. Dog found fox poo and I didn't realise until too late and she'd rolled well She STINKS, a bath hasn't got rid of the aroma completely. She's off for a mini groom tomorrow so hopefully.........
Luckily I'm just off to get ready for reflexology - bliss. Garden is nice but next door but one got the tree loppers in again today very noisy but I think they'll be pleased when it's finished as they'll get much more light! Plus they are at work 😉

Well, that was a lovely way to end the holiday. Sunshine and a nice easy stroll to Dunstanburgh castle from Craster for all three of us.
I was allowed to escape on a slightly longer walk and met up with the ladies for lunch at the Shoreline Cafe and very nice that was too. The Jolly Fisherman was heaving so we decided on the cafe and glad we did. Returned home mid afternoon for a laze outside in the sun.
We'll call off somewhere on Hadrians Wall tomorrow en route to Carlisle and the M6. Told MiL the wall was keep the Pesky Scots at bay and her Scottishness kicked in as she replied "It was'nae to keep us oot it was stop youz lot from coming in"

We'll have fun.

Love the benches, Millie. Just hope no scrote decided to add their own bit of painting to them.
Have a safe journey home, WN. You certainty have managed to fit in a lot in your fortnight away.
Yet another visit to the vet's, more tablets for Flyte, another week at home for us all, so yet a second site cancelled. Fingers crossed that his stitches will be taken out a week tomorrow, he's given permission to walk a bit further, and we will get away on the following Sunday.
