And just some of the Tour D F as well  ( Can't sit there ALL DAY now can I ~ the tweets are demanding I finish assembling their new bird-table in time for the weekend sport  )

Now it's time for yet another pill then ten minutes to breakfast ( and another four   frown  )

Technology defeated me yesterday. When I take a photo with my phone I already have google  "lens" on it. There was a reduced price unidentified rose at the garden centre we visited yesterday, lens produced lots of similar roses but not this one. smile

Got to go back to the garden centre today, new bird feeder assemblage wouldn't assemble. Another trip to West Bay, won't complain as it's not too busy just yet. By the end of the month it will be a different story!

Thanks for info, have done some research and like most things there are those that love BY MILES and those that have had a bad experience

"It’s impossible to report an accident and make a claim. I tried to call their so-called 24/7 line but no-body answered after waiting 40 minutes on several occasions throughout the day. The telephone line just goes to a white noise. Terrible service."

tried the number 0330 088 3838, answered promptly but then got took round the houses just to get my windscreen repaired, option i chose, and ended up at National Windscreeens at which point i put the phone down.

one slight downside is that you are only covered to drive the named vehicle, no 3rd party cover when driving any other vehicle.

My OH is an ex insurance broker so she is always wary of these companies and this one seems to be based off shore but is underwritten by

AXA Insurance UK Plc, Mulsanne Insurance Company Limited, Zurich Insurance Plc and Wakam.

and when you call the claims number you are put through to one of these depending which option you choose, would have been great to have this during lock down when car was sat on drive for nearly 12 months, will keep an open mind but OH deals with all of this so she that must be obeyed will have the final say laughing

Not today but some more from yesterday's adventure. A very hot day over there in the lakes and for the first time I can remember 'over here' I was bitten by some blood sucking insect later identified as a Stable Fly who for some reason there are significantly more of them this year. I'm sure it no doubt gorged itself on my recently added full English breakfast and tea enriched blood. Anyway after an hour of intense pain the insect died.

The first photo is the approach to Catstycam, the second Hellvellyn from Red Tarn, and the third is the famous 'Hole in the Wall' probably not know by many but hallowed ground to some of us.

Up in Northumberland last month the coast was awash with Cleggs, I got a severe reaction to a Clegg bite years ago so am very wary. Keep an eye on yours. It's a good year for insects and their love of humans! wink

Ugh, horse flies😱 Nasty bites, I recall riding on Dartmoor, horses streaming with blood from bites. We all had strands of greenery constantly whisking away flies. It was easier than being bucked off, as they bit. Not nice. Now you know why some horses wear fly rugs in Summer.....

Thanks Brue and TDA, I certainly will watch out, so far no ill effects, although I got some legs cramps about an hour afterwards that I put down to too much loss of electrolytes from perspiring so much so who knows?

And I'm sure the fly came off worst. It's probably taken to crawling along the ground dragging parts of it's home behind it.

This is the path from Catstycam to Helvellyn via Swirral edge.

The space above was reserved for an announcement that CS had gone up there. Alas up to the time of posting no such announcement could be made.

Looked a good day for going up it CS. We've gone up both this one and Striding Edge and lived to tell the tale with a Westie in tow as well. Mind you I was a lot younger then and maybe not quite so imbued with common sense (or at least I like to think so).smile I think the dog had more sense in those days.

Why didn't you go up it, just as a matter of interest? You don't seem lacking in the climbing skills.

MiL was telling us of the days that her, her husband, her mother and father and her 2 young daughters (one of them Mrs WN) used to travel on a Sunday morning up to Bolton Abbey and The Strid, stopping off in Skipton to buy lunch, in their Ford Popular!😱 So we took her back today to reminisce and have another walk along the river. The sun came out when we were near so she had a lovely time and didn't get a bit maudling. Tough cookie.

In the meantime I was allowed to escape on a walk up to Simon's Seat up on the moors. There was a moment when I stopped to have a look at the view of the moors and all the way to Pendle Hill in Lancashire, with no sounds around me and no wind and no-one else. Then a Curlew piped up with its warbling call and I couldn't have imagined being any happier, any place elsewhere at that particular moment in time. Magic.

Hope everyone else has been as fortunate as I have today.

Mrs WN got bitten by a Horsefly yesterday whilst at Harlow Carr RHS and immediately rubbed her leg with hand sanitiser as she had used her last anti septic wipe on me last week for something similar. She reports no swelling around leg and nothing untoward today so maybe another use for these sanitisers.

It’s a wonderful area & a relaxing walk around BA. it’s great to hear of generational enjoyment sharing common happiness. Long may it last, thanks for sharing WN👍🏻. I go there on a seasonal pilgrimage to enjoy the area thru the changes.

Shanaz Gulzar covered the walk in the Yorkshire Walks TV programme, lovely viewing.smile

I like the updated intro pages. Presume that's why we were shut down last night.

We didn't do anything strenuous yesterday, having returned a faulty bird feeding station (the others on display were faulty too.) We drove on to West Bay for a stroll and an ice cream. The photos tell a lie, it was very busy but the big jetty was relatively crowd free. Sadly people were ignoring warnings and were sitting and walking under the cliffs, we even saw someone standing on the edge at the top.

They were cutting the grass alongside the river Brit, ready for the temporary summer camping. At which point it will start to get even busier!

We had a wonderful holiday at the Strid Wood site in our MH some years back Rocky. We travelled all over the local area by bus.  It is indeed a beautiful area.

Received a personal letter addressed to the occupier today. All handwritten.  Usually estate agents wanting to sell your house except they all come nicely printed. To my surprise the letter was from a Jehovah Witness. A very pleasant little letter, from Stephanie,  explaining that during the pandemic they have felt, to keep people safe, they would not do the normal door knocking. However they still wanted to be in touch with people, hence the letter. It does illustrate a degree of dedication, albeit a bit lost on me, from people who have this belief. Many years ago one of the ladies that worked for me was a Jehovah Witness and she would often try and slip me a little booklet which I always courteously declined!

We've all recieved those letters locally too David, mass produced, our local MP sometimes goes in for a similar thing, even with our names filled in by hand...dedication to a cause?! Our MP did not believe in lockdown....I won't be voting in his direction again and he's put on rather a lot of weight enjoying Westminster lunches. Politics and religion, I normally steer well clear. wink

Have been speaking to our nearest new neighbours, a young couple, our gardens meet at one point. They were doing some gardening and using their phones to identify plants as they went round, we could hear them saying "ooh look a hollyhock" etc. How gardening has changed, I wonder if they'll remember the names or have to use phones all the time.

It's very hot here, half the lawns done by OH but now inside for some cooler air.

Agreed, Bolton Abbey and the surrounding area is a fantastic place, as a boy used to hike and camp throughout the area, no car though we used to go via coach or train from Blackburn then shank's pony, tks for posting WN, I have not put it on my bucket list, hopefully for next year and i could kill2 birds with 1 stone and visit my sister who lives near York.

"We drove on to West Bay for a stroll and an ice cream" love this area Bru, we used to stay at Bingham Grange, before the club got its hands on itundecided, very central for Bridport, Weymouth, Lyme Regis, Poole, Charmouth. Spent 3 weeks at Highlands End earlier in the year, not everybodys cup of tea, but as all the camping fields were closed the site was very quiet, great svcd pitch with view looking out over West Bay, but it can get a tad breezy.

Lovely day today, had a dip in the Solent earlier, tide well in so easy to get in and out of the water which is warming up nicely now.

Daughter now in France staying 1 night in Bordeaux, before heading for the tunnel tomorrow, lots of cider and beer on ice ready for the party laughing Tough couple of days driving and they have 2 dogs in the car yell Smokey is 1, rescue dog in Spain, the other is a desert dog she rescued in Kuwait when she taught there.
