Back to the vets with Flyte this morning, but just for a check up. Operation wounds healing fine, but was told to restrict his walks on a lead to just 10 mins at a time, which we'll stick to, much to his disgust.😟. I suppose it wasn't too much bother today as it has rained for most of it, but Flyte isn't the only one chomping at the bit to get a few miles.😁

My step total, although less ambitious, is down this year and that after my recent trip round the Cairngorms. Occasional bouts of plantar fasciitis /tendenitis don't help. I'm obviously starting to fall apart.

Now almost half way through our current 5 week trip, presently on CAMC Hunters Moon site.  Weather has been fairly good, only 2 days when rain stopped activities, but the forecast for tomorrow is not great.

Met up with our friends in North Wales on 3 occasions, and yesterday met a friend for lunch in Dorchester, followed by a wander around and ice creams while enjoying the sun..

On Monday we will continue along the south coast, before starting to head north.  All sites have been pretty busy, but well organised and peaceful.  Some had more MHs  than caravans, others, like here were the reverse.

Driving out for the day, most towns and villages in the tourist  areas have been pretty busy, especially at weekends.  We are off to Poole today, hopefully we can find a parking place!

Took the caravan in for it's service, the 8 year old battery wasn't looking too healthy and they're going to test it but a new one might be a good idea but guess what - apparently there is a battery shortage! They only had 5 in stock and only 2 with the required amps for the motor mover  and no idea when supplies would come in.

Arrived at our CL for the weekend, yesterday lunchtime. As usual when coming here it was raining frown not heavy stuff just drizzle.

Had a problem with the Alko hitch when we unhitched, the front friction pad fell out surprised part of it had broken off and one side of it had a crack in it. So a ring round the local dealers to try and find one. Luckily the second dealer had one smile they don't come cheap though.

Visiting our youngest son and his family today. Took our 12 year old granddaughter out for a cycle ride, brother not wanting to go so left him with his parents.

    Sun out, its looking good.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Catching up on posts, good to hear your trip is going well KJ (just paid for our Dartford Crossing, a one off, easy to do if you're still intending to use it....terrible queues going east, the sunshine must have encouraged everyone to head for Southend!)

Sounds like you were lucky to fix your van TG, hope you all enjoyed the get together.

What a long journey for your daughter Rufs...I think the furry companion is going to have a good time over here!

Just before we left for our break our elderly neighbours had the "ok" for their house move so they left when we were away. Seems strange without them and we also have new neighbours next to their old place too.

We're expecting very heavy rain tomorrow so have been dashing round trying to sort things before everything gets soggy, poor old roses, just looking good.

Off to our first cottage today.

Stopped off for a couple of hours at Lyme Park NT. I offered to do a "Darcy" in the pond but Mrs WN reminded me that he didn't wear a string vest. At least I offered.😁

Then we headed off to a pub for a lovely lunch before arriving just after 4 pm.in Yorkshire. Lovely views from the cottage in Wharfedale. Harewood House tomorrow.

Reading the latest posts and it looks as if those that are away are having a good time. Oh the joys of polishing the inside of the caravan for me, and short walks out with Flyte. Had most of the afternoon off to watch the TdF and the Lions/Japan Rugby, switching between the two and saw both of the crashes and all of the tries....good timing what!😃.Did also manage to see the first half of the Welsh game but have up at half time as it was obvious which way the wind was blowing.😟

Only if the Mankini is real faux leopard skin Nellie!

You and I share the same impeccable taste in clothing. However, unfortunately, our opinions are not the ones that matter.😱😂

Actually, maybe that should read "fortunately".🤔

Thanks brue!  Yes, still going to use Dartford crossing, as it will be a shorter distance to drive, though we have had a bit of a change of route.

Decided today that heading out to Lowestoft was too much of a detour, and we have been there before, so from the south coast (our next site is Battle) we will head north to the CCC site at Hertford before going on  to Stamford.

Good weather today, everywhere very busy.  There was parking right by the water in Poole, quite a few MHs there too.  We went on to Bournemouth too, but it was packed out so we bought some sandwiches for lunch, which we ate in the car, and  afterwards had a leisurely drive back to the van.

Not sure yet what we will do tomorrow, will depend on the weather.

Nice photo Goldie glad you had a nice day.

We are not long back from a nice weekend at Strathclyde Park club site has decent weather so managed a cycle yesterday morning but mostly we just relaxed site was quite busy although the school holidays up here have just started so no surprise. Easy hour tow home and as the weather is still nice I gave the van a wash before putting it back in it’s space saved a job for later. Not away next weekend then we are off on our 3 and a half week break to Oxfordshire and Somerset the following week looking forward to it the inside of the van needs cleaned and packed for our main trip but we have almost two weeks to do that so should be fine.

Hope everyone else has had a nice weekend

Hope Goldie and family have had a happy and memorable weekend!

We are having a very wet Sunday, we knew it was going to happen so got the van sorted yesterday after our trip away, collected the cat and battened down the hatches. Nearly turned the heating on but resisted!

Not long back from a short outing to Corfe Castle, Studland beach and Swanage, just in time as we are currently being deluged!    So much noise on the van roof that we cannot hear what the other is saying.  Someone somewhere has turned on a large hosepipe!!

Rain started this morning, but we were lucky to have a good wind and a couple of dry hours, so awning was safely packed away dry.

The site here emptied out quite a bit over the morning, but new arrivals started coming in just after 11am, even though earliest arrival time is stated as 1pm.   Most then proceeded to look for, presumably, "the best pitch" while driving around at well over 5mph.  I would say most were even  doing well over 10mph.

KJ, would be interested in what you think of the Hertford site. We have that earmarked for a stopover on our way south to the tunnel.

Not such a great day today, grey and overcast but at least it was dry.

We have a show off 'Peacock' on site, we have been coming here for years and never seen him before. Seemingly he lives further down in the village. He's been walking around yesterday and today for hours, keeps putting his tail up and displaying, never seen one do it so often. Folk walking about doesn't put him off at all.

Had a nice visit with the family earlier on today and lovely meal yesterday with them. No one was interested in going out to eat, we all ate far to muchembarassed

Off to Penrith tomorrow for a 1 night stop then Tuesday its Stranraer for 5 nights.

Covid numbers for back home are very high, more that at anytime since this started, not sure I want to go homefrown

Busy few days ,hearing test friday  found hearing has got quite a bit worse in last two yearsfrown

Spent two hours in Ampliphon audiologist got remaing hearing aid to work with help on manufacture but unable to get blue tooth to operateundecided (now just for standby use)

bank balance now much lighter , now have rechargeable hearing aids and are compatible with my other equipment, surprised

OHs birthday Sat we managed to keep her brthday trip to Paradise Wildlife park a secret ,she wondered what was going on when my daughter arrived and we said we are going out in the car  as when we got there most of our broods  who could were there cool

Today when speaking about the lack of care the new grounds contractors had given with the new council contract ,it was decided to give us our view back over the councils ornimental garden in front of our house ,that some work was needed ,so two of the younger residents have cut the shrubs down to the heitght they were when being "maintained?" before the new contract was stated last yearsurprised

Lovely photo, Goldie, hope the rest of the day went off well.

I competed the cleaning of the inside of the caravan today so we're nearly ready for the off next week.
The bad news is that the stitches that Flyte had in his leg following his operation have burst open, leaving a rather ugly wound, so it will be a phone call to the vets first thing in the morning to get him in and seen to. frown  We have managed to put a bandage over the wound but it's a devil of a job keeping it in place.

two of our whacked out dogs, hectic weekend for all, the brown cocker/lab cross that belongs to daughter from EG we think is 3 weeks pregnant, has a scan this week, trying to persuade us to take a pup, but resisting the temptation just now. Spent most of the weekend down on the beach, rained off Sunday PM but rest was just perfect laughing

Good to see doggy pics and looking well rested Rufs.

Sorry to hear about Flyte's leg  NTH and hope you get it sorted, I have got some bandages here that are self adhesive and stick very well and are suitable for pets also good with rain, think a lot of sports folk use them also in many colours.

And yet another storm last night two nights in a row and possible another tonight just glad we have good drainage here with all the rocks underneath the ground but the grass is getting longer and need some dry days before we can cut it all so will be a busy week once the grass has dried out. Looks like the weather will improve by this coming weekend and back to warm days.

Glad folk are enjoying their breaks away we will be going away in September but not sure if it will be the van or another gite break and as it is our 50th wedding anniversary on the 11th September would rather have gite than the van at the moment with corvid still going around although our daily figures are coming down now.

What a quiet breakfast it was today. Just the two of us eating toast. No hungry grandson having two big bowls of cereal and drinking gallons of milk (good for him!), grandaughter coming down late (teanage girls need time on their own upstairs to keep in touch with friends). And most of all no great granddaugter in a sort of baby seat/table that sits on the table. smearing Weetabix all over herself (most went in her mouth).

It was an amazing weekend. Day One at a local hotel with 27 guests. The ceremony was outside in a sort of gazebo/pagoda with photos in the gardens. The registar was lovely and down to earth and made it feel a very special occassion. Afternoon Tea, relaxing on the terrace, playing board games (very comeptively by some adults) and an evening barbecue. Then back home for us locals while the groom's family just had to head off to their rooms.

Day Two (Sunday) lived up to the forecast with warm sun all day and we continued celebrating in our garden (and more food) with the Townies very excited to see the cows!

Now, the Wedding clothes are back in the wardrobe. My hat back in it's box (a posh sun hat which I was very glad of). The extra chairs are back in the right place and a few unopened bottle of wine back in the wine rack. Leftovers will be brought out of the fridge for dinner, and I'm wondering what to do!
