On return through the town we popped into Morrisons to get OH his favourite scones laughing another nice day out.
Do they happen to be the square ones?

What a grey day but no rain
. it has been very wet these last few days
But we have today done what we have wanted to do for years and visited Chartwell , we were a bit apprehensive with OHs mobility problems as many places not mobility scooter friendly and trust mobility buggy, not available ,so with consultation with NT staff tried out one of their wheelchairs, with assistance from a staff member, but it was too hilly, to get to the house, so another pow wow and it was decided that I would be allowed to drive to the house and park by the front of
, We were met by staff and OH settled in Lady Churchills lounge with a virtual tour played to her on a big TV ,while I did the house
Ps they say you are never too old to learn something ,which I did today
do you know how siren suits got their name?
So it was quite an eventful but successful day

Managed to get the caravan cleaned in the end, with a few very pleasant interruptions talking to friends, catching up with the news, and taking Flyte for his afternoon walk. It was cloudy early on but the sun came out for a short while in the afternoon.

We parked at the leisure centre and cycled into town past Morrison's towards Powys castle up to Belam lock.
Some parts were not to bad and I guess if walking ok but some parts were very high vegetation on the canal side. Very high nettles and brambles so care was needed. Not sure were the path ended and the canal started is a bit unnerving when cycling as it would have been very easy to end up in the water.

Yes, I do know how siren suits got their name JVB. 😁. We went to Chartwell a few years ago. It had been on our wish list as well. Wonderful place.

Back in circulation after a month doing a meandering tour around the Cairngorms. We avoided the western side this time.
Some breathtaking scenery up there. Still managed to take out about 10% of the beastie population on my windscreen though. Most northern stop a deviation to Dingwall and Chanory Point ( dolphins played hide & seek). 1630 miles, 30 days-27 off grid, 15 stops but not quite as frenetic as this sounds. £265 fuel, £407 pitch fees,£30 LPG, the dearest being 85p per litre. Inverter and Lithium battery worked very well, the latter only once dropping below 80%.
The weather was pretty good after the first few days. Only blemish was backing into a planter, cracking the rear corner of the bumper moulding. A bit of TLC and araldite plus some polishing will, hopefully, restore equilibrium.
Key points - Anderson Boat Lift, Falkirk Wheel, Scott's Discovery, HMS Unicorn, HMS Trincomalee (TS Foudroyant for Pompey folk), Angel of the North (aka The Gateshead Flasher), Bannockburn, Culloden, Stamford Bridge.

JVB I haven't been to Chartwell, on my list, but I know why siren suits were so named. In fact my mum still referred to the cosy all-in-one outer garment with a zip as a siren suit when I had my children..........
Another gray day here, sky feels low, lots of heavy mizzle this morning after rain overnight. So much so that OH said to the dog on our return from our walk, oh you've been swimming! She hadn't as its not something she does really. And after she was groomed yesterday and smelt lovely.
Pulling out some forget met nots and dead headed the lilac, not particularly enjoying the tasks as it's very mucky.... have a white confetti bed and grass under the rambling rector 😢, such a shame as it has very few days to show off in any one year. Mind you the grass is growing, ideal conditions now. Although it was very cool earlier our heating came on, I never turn it off but turn the thermostat down, so it came on at 18c.
Have pegged the towels out, they aren't as wet as they were but they're not moving, maybe they'll be dry by sunset??
Edit
Sounds like a lovely trip cyberyacht, welcome back.

Sounds like a really good tour there CY
I normally take a stroll round Fort George 'cos that gives me a different view over the Dolphin Playground -- allegedly the one good reason for putting the military establishment there in the first place !!Now I'm off to watch, belatedly, the Taffs playing the Italians .

A quiet last few days, doing quite a few small but forgotten jobs and managing to find a few more unfortunately.
Have a real treat to look forward to tomorrow. Mrs WN has worn a hole in her only walking shoes so we're off to Cheshire Oaks as she wants to call in at M&S as well. I've managed to persuade MiL to tag along so I have a plan that might get me out of traipsing around with them. Both can have as much time looking at shoes and other things as they want and then call me down from the coffee stop I'll be making, when they'll phone me and I'll drive them to M&S and repeat.
Think it will work?0 -
Blue skies from the word go today. So breakfast was out on the lawn with this view up to Causey Pike.
After a long drive yesterday we decided to walk direct from the cottage today, along the Coledale valley, the spectacular views added to by borders of wild foxgloves, up to Force Crag mine an old lead mine closed in the 40's and now owned by the National Trust. And not a bad place to stop for coffee by the stream just below the mine - a handy refreshment stop for the dogs too!
In past years we have continued round the Coledale horseshoe, quite a slog and too much these days for Lady (well that's my excuse!) so we returned by the same path and settled for an afternoon snooze before watching the footie! (Well done, Wales! 👍)

Guess it's easier on foot when the vegetation is so lush, as it is at the moments. It's the stretch further along that we walk, in both directions from the lock at Lower Luggy, as the CL is just up the road from there. Glad that you managed to avoid a dip though.

Sounds like a good trip, CY, with plenty of places of interest included. If the beasties were only on the outside of the M/H you were very lucky. Shame about the bump, however I'm sure you will fix it.
We did roughly the same distance over 64 days on our tour through Wales, not yet totted up cost of fuel but site fees came to £937 on 13 sites all with EHU, 1 CC site, 2 commercial ones and the rest CLs.j

Grand photos of a lovely area, M, and well away from the crowds too I would guess. If I could live anywhere it would be either up the Coledale or Newlands Valley.

The sun appeared yesterday morning and carried into today. Just been sitting outside from about 7pm watching the valley get darker with a bottle of wine. A great way to spend an evening.
Spotted this funky motorhome in Bowness, note the driver!

Show some respect muscles, that’s not just ‘a bear’ that’s ‘Winnie the Pooh’ is that👍🏻

Nah, the only respect that thing will get is from a certain Gordon Buchanan, Curly haired film maker of bears, both polar and others.
P.S. / Edit and that's driving a 'left hooker' too so most likely to be a Euro-bear grrrrrrr

It's been a grey and rather cool day today. We drove over to Buttermere, which, although one of the smaller lakes, is, I think, one of the prettiest surrounded as it is by high fells. No ascent of Haystacks this time (so no chance to pick up a grain of "Wainwright grit" and, disappointingly, the little church in the village was locked so I couldn't even get in to take a (another!) picture of the plaque celebrating the great man's life.
After a rather cold lunch down by the lakeside we walked a little way along the western shore of Crummock Water. There was a cuckoo (maybe more than one) in full voice up in the woods - only the second I've heard this year.
Back at the cottage now with a refreshing cuppa, the skies have started to clear and there is blue sky over Skiddaw, hopefully a good sign for tomorrow.

Today started bright and sunny
Moving day but not a long drive so time to enjoy the nice morning.
Unfortunately we lost the sun on the journey up to Ashbourne overcast grey skies but at least it was dry. By the time we got set up and lunch finished and cleared away it started to drizzle. So not going for a walk we will go food shopping instead.
Bit of road noise now and again but been advised its quiet at night.
Looking forward to getting out on the bikes over the next few days, weather forecast looks to be dry, fingers crossed.

Longest day! Grey wet and cold. Heating came on again.
OH discharged from community cardiac nurses care. Seen them a few times in 2 1/2 years, they just take weight blood pressure etc, so not a hugely important consultation, but great to be discharged.....
Not been inspired to do much, wet dog walk through the woods with a friend and one of her dogs, other has joint issue so lead walks only at the moment. Dogs had a good run and ours has been asleep in her bed until her walk to the park with OH, where she declined a chase with her pals 😱, crashed out in her bed again. I know how she feels! Friend's dog eventually turned up after endless calling pleased as punch carrying a bone 🙈😱. Nice smell emanating from it, thank goodness for poo bags to handle it. Examination revealed not human phew, but had a deer foot grim. He was all for checking out to see if he could find more! 🤢🤮
