Good news for OH, B2, definitely sounds like just progress.
Enjoy your stay away at the respite centre, Robsail, you deserve it.
Where this time TG, a CL perhaps, mixing up the style of sites.
Visit to the dentist for me this morning, as I'd broken one of my dental plates while away, so it was impressions taken for it's repair, and back again next week to see if they fit ok. Also came away with an appointment for tomorrow to see the dental hygienist.😩 Spent the early afternoon updating our Site Directory before the usual your or so walk with Flyte.

For a while we had been looking for a replacement TV stand as the one we were using didn't have much shelf space and was a bit on the low side. Probably not very modern but we have some nice mahogany furniture in the lounge so it had to match that. An internet search found a company called Lock, Stock and Barrel. Don't think it's run by Vinny Jones!!! They had a cabinet of about the right size but part of the width was taken up by two side cupboards. I thought I would chance my luck and ask if it could be made with wider shelves and no cupboards. Within days I had a reply confirming it could be made like that with a drawing of my proposed requirements and price which was not much more than the original cabinet. We ordered it back in February and it arrived today, the company have been very good at keeping us updated but as it is made abroad there were a few delays which didn't really bother us. Once I got all the spaghetti wires sorted it all looks very good.

TAMMYG, I do so hope your tour down here in the Sahara temperatures of England are to your total satisfaction. Did see BBC's 6 PM weather forecast and it actually mentioned the north west of Scotland might, just might, see early morning FROST {
} tomorrow. Could just scare away some Northern 500 tourists
P.S. I wonder if CY turned the central heating off up there before he left

Hope Robsail and family got away safely and are enjoying their breaks.
We're enjoying a wet and windy break, suppose it's got to happen sometime!
Off out today, on foot, think there might be some sunshine later.
DK our slim TV has always been plonked on a cabinet, the decision to pin it to the wall just above the cabinet has freed up space and looks neater. It's in an alcove so doesn't look too bad. Hope you like your new arrangement, small adjustments can make a difference.

ABM wrote " I wonder if CY turned the central heating off up there before he left undecided ??"
Not me guv. Only needed the heating on for about half an hour in the morning to placate OH for the first couple of days of our tour. Scotland was pretty warm though.

read your report on your trip CY, most impressed by the stats and glad you enjoyed it, for me i cannot remember how many litres of diesel i have used let alone how many miles i have covered, never reset my mileage counter since the day i bought the Sorento some 6 years ago, but for my real job i used to plan satellite links/frequencies etc for oil rigs, drill ships all over the world, so keeping stats was very important, now i cant be bothered, we just go and enjoy. Had a fab 3 weeks in Cornwall on a brilliant site, not CAMC.
Looking to spend , maybe 1 month in Spain with daughter, August, then got 1 month, September booked on a site in Devon, not CAMC, remind me why i pay my membership fee

Well, Mrs WN bought a pair of top notch walking shoes, not boots, yesterday and saved ourselves £15 because of the discount her CAMC membership card allowed Rufs. Plus 5 CLs this year to date. Seems worth it to me.
A day of trimming the ever-growing bushes and shrubs. Strimmer eventually ran out of juice just before I did and I noticed that some of the tops aren't straight so a bit more work tomorrow. Also noticed that the mortar holding the 2 stone flags together on a raised step behind the back door seems to need replacing so have to do that as well. But that's all tomorrow. Can't do it all at once, it's an age thing, plus if you do you only leave yourself open to having to do something else.

A wasted morning waiting for an engineer to arrive to service our central heating boiler, but without any joy. Had to phone up to rearrange another one for next week. We couldn't wait for the guy to come after lunch as I had to get to the dental hygienist and OH to her hairdresser.

Much better day today, took awhile to sort it's self out but eventually we did get a nice day. Mixture of sun and clouds.
Washing and a bit of housework/van carpets and bathroom cleaned.
Then out on the bikes to Carsington water, cycled all the way round it, bit up and down in places but an ok ride. Nice ice cream at the finish.
Going to try the Tissington trail tomorrow.
NTH, not a CL this time, we are on the C&CC site at Ashbourne. CL for the weekend at Upper Denby. Off to see our youngest boy and his family.
ABM, I saw the weather forecast for Scotland, its not exactly high summer here but at least it ain't frosty.

Just a clean up, and the young lady found no further problems, thankfully. A good crop for OH, which will now do her till we get back home after next trip, towards the end of August.
TG, I'd forgotten about that club site, although we have used it once in the past, not long after they had opened it. Very handy for a visit to Carsington Water.

We got back from New England Bay yesterday dinner time (lunch time) and immediately plunged back into work. First off OH had to light the Aga (it's a 72 year old solid fuel one) - always a trcky job, but the house was cold and it's our only cooker. It's normally on 24/7. Then he was off out to work. Calves to feed, cows to milk plus the rest. I opened a mountain of post and dealt with the few urgent bits that needed doing. And unpacked the excess of food we had taken, I had been told that I had taken too much - but I didn't want to run out and I lke a choice of what to eat. By night I felt like a needed a holiday. But I was able to to nod off while OH watched some boring football game.
New England Bay is perfect for us - a manageable 3.5 hour drive (at least half none motorway which is good for me). Thiis year we stayed on site most of the tine - it was sunny but with a bit of a breeze, Perfect relaxation - sleep, eat, drink, read, repeat.

We have used two Club sites this year and both have the usual procedures in place. Scan a QR code if you have the NHS COVID App on your phone. The only difference this year seems to be that they ask you to rescan the code if you have been out for the day and used a cafe/restaurant/pub. If you don't have the App they ask you to complete a form with your details on for possible Track and Trace. Not stayed at any CL's but I imagine their arrangements will be a bit more home grown? Difficult to comment on hotspots as the best thing is to avoid them!!! However most hotspots are in urban areas and you don't get many CL's in urban areas. Assuming you have had both jabs and are careful where you visit hopefully you would be OK.

I have stayed on 5 CLs and 1 Independent site since end of March.
Each CL does indeed make their own arrangements but all of the ones we have stayed on have supplied Hand Sanitisers at the necessary points. I had it's toilet and shower facility closed but another had opened their toilets, with hand sanitiser by the door. The Independent again had the relevant cleaning stuff out but toilets were closed. Mind you it was the first week of lifting of lockdown here in Wales and they were waiting on an air purifier and extractor system to be delivered.
Haven't seen any problems with the clientele whilst on site and all CLs have had full sites at various times of my stay.
We haven't stayed anywhere near any so called Hotspot to comment on it. As DK alluded to, most CLs are away from the centres of hotspots and urban conurbations.

I did get to start the replacement of the rear back step. Took me an hour to get the old mortar off but then the heavens opened and Rain stopped play and we look like we are not resuming today as it is still raining. "A few odd rain showers here and there over North Wales" said the weather forecaster at lunchtime. Well, this is a very long shower, that's all I can say.
Goldie, who said you can't enjoy yoursleves by staying on site? Some people knock it but everyone has different needs and ways of going about relaxing. Sounds like you had the perfect tonic ( and undoubtedly some Gin to mix in with it.

Thank you for the info.
Most of the Cls that I'll be using are away from major conurbations but nonetheless if a district council in such an area enforced a shutdown I presume it could affect cls on the margins. Pleased to hear that all is OK so far.

Took the new car for a spin around the quayside - yeah I wish!
Actually spent a good hour pedalling around the streets behind it and found some gems. Then eastwards to watch the surfers having fun at Tynemouth.

Can a District Council do that I don't think they have the powers? Perhaps one way of looking at it is that we have had several hot spots around the country and whilst the advice might have been to stay away I don't think that has been backed by law. I am talking England here as obviously the devolved Governments have different powers. If you want reassurance about a particular area then perhaps go to this webpage, https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-51768274 and scroll down to "How many Cases in your Area" and enter the first three characters of the postcode of the CL you want to visit and it will show you the case rate for that area, compared to the national average. As of yesterday the average in England was 63 cases per 100,000.

We have had two "climbing" days - although by Lakeland standards only 2 little tiddlers!
Yesterday we started off along the old Keswick to Threlkeld railway path. The waymarker shows that it is part of the coast to coast cycle route and you can go all the way to Sunderland if you wish (there's a challenge for Corners!
). The path runs alongside the river Greta, though it's been so dry that it looks little more than a stream now. Last time we were here it was a raging torrent and at least one of the bridges has had to be rebuilt and only opened in 2020 after storm Desmond. Then we climbed up to the summit of Latrigg - although we were in blue skies, the view down over Derwentwater towards Borrowdale looked more threatening.
2 -
And today we were on the opposite side of the lake, walking from the National Trust's Great Wood site up to the summit of Walla Crag and then down to, allegedly, the most photographed spot in the whole of England, Ashness Bridge.
Although Keswick itself is very busy at the moment, we've been surprised by how few folk we have seen out walking, must be busy in the shops and pubs in the town itself though.

Dash it, JVB, that's a bit rough
!!Makes MY problems seem utterly irrelevant
:~~Todays Post held
1 ) a request for me to donate to McCarthy and Stone a goodly sum for a 1 or 2 Bedroom residence
2 ) a request for me to donate to Joseph O'Connell, Funeral Services, another sizeable sum for a prepaid Funeral Plan { Single Occupancy }
3) Advance warning that HS2, when completed, will shake most of the above most violently, ensuring I will be awakened from my sleep, of any kind !

Thanks for the photos Moulesy. Given that I'm unlikely to make it to the L.D. this year it was good to see some of my favourite views and places. Nothing wrong with the "tiddlers" either. I'm quite partial to a stroll up either of the ones you mention.

Made the best of some better weather today and enjoyed a visit to Sutton Hoo, have seen the Anglo Saxon finds from here at the British Museum but the site is fascinating, lots to look at although the exhibition in the house could be better. Lovely walks, didn't have time to do them all.
The group of people in the photo are standing on the remains of the ship burial mound.

Another lovely day here in Ashbourne.
Sat outside the van for a few hours enjoying the peace and quiet catching up on some magazines we brought with us, oh and enjoying the lively hot sun

After lunch we drove into Ashbourne and up to the Tissington trail. Had a nice cycle along the trail, lots of folk doing the same thing.
Back at the van decided to make a coffee, then for some reason thought it was a good idea to throw it over the seating
managed to get most of it off but will need to give it a good clean once home. 1
