Ah, it was the right thread after all.
Right, not had time to clean the caravan since returning from our break and have run out of excuses so got the hose and bucket out and it's now ready to get dirty again.
Had some clearing of weeds to do as well. We're experimenting with White Vinegar to try get rid of some weeds and it has already had a an effect. Problem is that the drive now smells like a Chippie.
Thanks for the tip Bakers. I'll seek one out.

We certainly have been to the cheese creamery, walked down there on Sunday afternoon, after we set up on site. Fridge is well stocked!🙂
Googled Owens, and they are currently closed, and the sheepdog demos don’t start until July 1st, so no luck there, either.
Drove to Middleham this morning, had a look round the castle, then a walk on the moors. Some beautiful racehorses being exercised in the area, a few quids worth on display!
🙂

Our walk today started from the former mining village of St Martins just down the road from Ellesmere, through Ifton Meadows nature reserve (built on the site of the former colliery) and back along the Llangollen canal. We decided to add a bit on to our planned walk having spotted a useful looking track on the OS map; little did we (I) realise it involved traipsing through a rather overgrown meadow on to a farm track to a tied up gate where a herd of probably 50 or 60 very docile looking fresians came to check us out! Fortunately they weren't interested in the dogs, and, surprisingly, the dog's weren't interested in them! (I quite like walking near cows, generally docile kind looking creatures, much prefer them to horses in fields. )
Today is our last day here and it's been a cracking few days in an unspoilt and under appreciated part of the country. Tomorrow we make our way up to Braithwaite, just north of Keswick for what looks like being a typical lake district week of weather!

We have been out, out today. The first time in a fortnight other than for medical appointments. We had a wander round M&S as I decided I needed a few 'bits' for our upcoming holiday to Staithes
. Nice to actually look at what I was buying for a change. We then went to our local farm shop to get our meat and veg and had some lunch in their cafe while we were there. It has teemed with rain all day here and is still persisting down. I am glad I picked as many of our roses as I could the other evening to save them from the rain. They are now in vases around the house where we can enjoy them.
Pliers We like visiting Middleham when in that area. As you say some serious money on display. OH has just been watching Ascot on TV (for want of something better to do) and the weather there looks dreadful. I feel so sorry for the people who are dressed in their finery. Our DIL, who is a milliner, has made quite a few hats for Ascot. I wonder what state they are in now!

Been persistently raining all day. Had to dig out my long waterproof coat and hat, brim kept filling with water I noticed everytime I had to tilt my head! No matter really it was blitz the house day, all done now. Fingers crossed for a dry middle of the day tomorrow so it all looks good.
Been something on, or ocassionally 2 things, everyday this week and next week looking similar - normality returning??? OH has 2 hospital, in person appointments.....
Good to read of others doings, moulsey you're living dangerously on these walking issues! I prefer cows to horses in a field. Not meet any with our dog, could prove interesting but there's few round here and we're unlikely to be venturing far yet. She's ok with ridden horses on walks when she's on and off lead.
Interesting situation with a sprayer, farm sort, on a walk the other day. DIL had told me much skill needed to drive them as NO BRAKES, she has to drive hers on the Peterborough parkways sometimes 😱😱 and she says it's a work of art to negotiate the roundabouts...... They have to take combine and tractors that way too, and she says they've closed layby's so you can't let traffic past. Nerves of steel that woman..... I digress, we were on a narrow uphill lane, my friend grabbed her dogs and went to meadow side of the lane, naturally Dora on ditch side so grabbed her put lead on and scrambled among the grass and nettles before picking her up as there wasn't much room. She struggled in my arms and there was just sufficient clearance without me taking to the hedge 😱😱🙈
Time to get dinner, football apparently tonight......

Had a reasonable run back from Bridlington today but didn’t quite get the van unloaded and back to storage before the rain.☹️ We’ve been to Brid a few times but never visited the model village near Sewerby Hall. It was well worth the one and a half mile walk from the site, our 3 year old granddaughter would love it.
Felt a right plonker after a slight diversion to a Morrison’s in Doncaster, to top up our LPG. After driving off some distance, I realised I hadn’t put the cover back on the filler, I remembered putting it on top of the pump. We turned round and went back but there was no sign of it and the lady in the shop said nothing had been handed in. On getting back in the van it all came back to me, I had put it on the pump but then thought, that’s daft I might forget it and put it in my pocket, where it still resided.😂1 -
It has been a fine sunny day at home, with just a gentle breeze to keep the temperature comfortable. Had to take Flyte to the vets this morning, as he has a rather nasty lump on one of his front elbows. Fortunately it doesn't seem to be bothering him, as he still runs around without any limping. Decision was made that it will be removed next Wednesday.
Cleaned the car this afternoon, and the alloys with Muck Off this evening. If it stays dry tomorrow the plan is to clean the caravan.
At least the farmers down south will be welcoming the rain even if it is not being appreciate by the general public.😉

Overcast but dry day here.
Took a drive to Ironbridge, then called in at Much Wenlock on the way back.
Nice quiet site this NTH, can understand why you liked it, haven't checked out the walk from the site yet but we will.
Might head out west tomorrow towards Wales, they seem to have better weather there, that's something I never thought I'd say 😂😂😂

sadly I fear not Nellie, this morning the taller grass had been flattened and it's been steady all day, not like Wembley looks at the mo, but my garden plants are flattened 🙁.
The rain is welcome as is the respite from the high temperatures but it can stop now please!

Yes bakers2 mine are flattened as well. The delphiniums especially look very sad as does everything else. I feel for the poor farmers. Some of their crops might have been ruined.

My view this morning. Troutbeck in the lakes. Hope everyone is having an equally good start.

That's a lovely spot, Corners, we've had many stays there over the years. In fact our very first holiday together was camping in a tiny tent over the road at Limefitt Park, though I think that has gone considerably up market since then (must have been early 70's ). I have this memory of a New Year's stay there with running friends - we took an early morning run up towards Kirkstone and the snowy hills opposite were pink in the dawn sun. I take it The Mortal Man is still going strong?

There’s a spirit lifter right there, I love the Ozone from moors, fells & coast-nice pic C👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻

This is our fifth day at New England Bay - and no rain at all! It’s been mostly sunny, but with a very sharp breeze.
FYI if coming here, the Site WiFi is rated Bronze and it sort of OK for occasional looking at the News etc, but I assume not for streaming. We seem to have some time left from what we bought last year.
4G from EE is more or less OK - we’ve used it to watch television on my laptop (set to SD). We have a television but keep losing the signal, so it’s sitting there just taking up space.
Best bet is a book! Or in my case a Kindle full of books.

Thanks. You can just see limefit park .
There a new extension to the car park in Ambleside next to the church. There appears spaces for MHs

Had a "steady" drive up to our cottage in Braithwaite - steady, in the sense that, as ever, the M6 was a bit of a nightmare in places! Still, here now, and it's a very comfortable place with a large enclosed garden, ideal for the dogs and a great view up to Grizedale Pike from the patio. I think we will enjoy our week here.
All the "popular" spots in the lakes were heaving as we drove through - don't think I've ever seen Bowness quite so crowded, we'll be steering well clear!
Edit - the caravan site just down the road, formerly Scotgate, now a C&CC site looks pretty full too!

Bit if cloudy start to the day as forecast so we decided to drive over to Welshpool. Nice place with a canal running through it.
Managed to find somewhere we could park up and off load the bikes. Took a cycle along the canal path, sadly its not very well looked after. Very overgrown both sides of the path making it difficult to see how much room you have before you end up in the water
managed a good few miles though in sunshine, we took a picnic with us so had that sat on a nice grassy knoll overlooking the canal. On return through the town we popped into Morrisons to get OH his favourite scones
another nice day out.Doesn't look promising for tomorrow but you never know.
Wifi excellent here and free

We drove through Ambleside on Wednesday and it was heaving, both with pedestrians and traffic. We were surprised just how many were there in mid June. Too many for us so we did a rather fast turnabout for somewhere more peaceful.

Which way did you cycle, TG? We've walked the canal in both directions from the Glandir CL, a few miles south of the town and didn't find it overgrown.
