Sounds a bit stringy to me.
Didn’t realise Mancunians were wanting to “get away from it “.Greater Manchester County, with a population of nearly 3 million, recorded 908 positive tests for Covid today.
The city of Manchester recorded a total of 223.
Most of these were young, unvaccinated people, with , thankfully, very low risk of becoming seriously ill with Covid.
Hardly a cause to flee to the hills.....🤔

We're heading north on Monday (to our favourite site by the sea) so I'm making lists and piling stuff up in the hall.
Meanwhile I'm working my way round the house with polish and duster, getting ready for all the family arriving a couple of days after we get back. The spare bedrooms haven't been used since before lockdown so should be dust free. Not so. And I keep getting delayed by finding stuff I had forgotten about and reminiscing. I sat on a bed and read The Very Hungry Caterpillar out loud. Then put it back on the bedside cabinet where some grandchildren will sleep. At 14 and 10 they're not too old for it!
Only two bedrooms to go, then I can move onto downstairs.

Dusting is my least favourite occupation Goldie so good luck with that!
Hope you both enjoy your seaside holiday. The never ending tale of my elderly neighbours house move reached new heights this morning. Just when I thought it was safe to wave them off next week there has been a hiccup with the Land Registry and rights of way. I have been searching through our documents to see if we can help.

Decided not to do anything except some ironing today, it's dull and humid and I'm not inspired further.
JVB I hope you both can enjoy the rest of your break, are you still on your long tour?
We have another break coming up soon, had a repair done to the M/H yesterday so all sorted hopefully.

At last the sun has started to make an appearance. We woke to rain this morning.
It was a rude awakening thanks to 1 man in a small camper. It's amazing just how much noise 1 person can make packing up
7am lets start the day by rattling metal poles, followed by van doors slammed shut every few minutes
it went on for 2 hours, when he decided to sit in his cab to read a book. Then at just after 10 am he decided it was time to leave, just as the guy opposite was hitching up his little car to his MH on the site road. Noisy guy was not happy at all so drove across the grass to the exit
its unbelievable how rude and inconsiderate a person can be.Due to the rain we decided to do the shopping in the car rather than on the bikes.
Not surprised Covid numbers are high here, no social distancing, no hand sanitizing, no trolley sanitizing, glad we are used to doing it ourselves. Its certainly needed now more than ever.
Off out in the car this afternoon.
Have a good weekend folks.

Bit of a grey misty start this morning now the sun is out start,,we had a noisey start to the day also when the people opposite us with their it seems about 20 doors on their car ,then loud instructions when hooking up ,and also engine still running

We have a motor caravan has come in next to us not a happy bunny, as he was pulled over by police two m/cycles just after leaving last site, and is being summoned for having an unsafe load, because he says he" forgot ?"to close his waste tank tap and was letting his waste run out which it seems sprayed the officers

Its a nice area David often overlooked. We were down that way at a CL a couple of weeks ago visited the aircraft museum near Carlisle was a very good da out and they have plenty of interesting exhibits. We also done a walk along Hadrians Wall and visited one of the roman forts. We drove past Greenacres it looks like a nice site but we normally stay at a CL in Longtown being a 2 hour drive from home it is handy for us for long weekends.

Decided to have an afternoon out at Forde Abbey, I can get in free on Fridays with my RHS card. It was pleasantly quiet but enough people around not to be empty. The gardens are lovely just now and we were in time for the last burst of the "gusher" which is switched on twice a day. A bit wet if you happen to get too close!
The Chapel is 12th century, goes back to the Abbey roots.
Bought a few unusual plants, they have a good plant nursery.

Had enough time to get a very decent walk in this morning, a 10 minute period consisting of mizzle, before having a treat.
We decided to book a table at a pub that was recommended to us when buying some GF food in Baslow. The pub is in Holmesfield on the Sheffield route but high up in a pretty village. All, and I mean all, of the food available was GF, 90% of which didn't need to be adapted. It was an absolute joy to be able to choose any one of the 11 main courses. Normally I'm lucky to get a choice. The Desserts were the same, all GF. So as I said an absolute treat and the food was first class. Also very considerate for those people who need Dairy Free. I'll put it up in the Food thread but called The Angel.
We chose a later eating time of 1.30 to try to get more space and so it proved. First class all around and we felt safe. Life slowly returning to normal.
Had another walk around some of Longshaw Estate to help the digestion.

TG, We've had a similar experience on the last couple of mornings. Yesterday we had an alarm in a Motorhome go off and on about 5 times around 7:00 before it finally drove off for the day. Then this morning the couple in the caravan next to us did just the same as your neighbour. Car doors banging from 7:30 and then the racket as they dismantled their awing, attached the caravan cover and hitched up. All we ask for us a bit of peace and quiet, some people don't realise just how much noise they make......or perhaps they do it on purpose!!

We had a phone call yesterday from the County Council they have some budget available to adapt our house to make it safer for OH ,and want to meet us at home on the 28th this month, but not to go home earlier, so it is fine as we are going to be home for five days from the 24th, before we then go on our really long tour getting home in mid Sep , unless OH gets another Hospital appointment,, then we may have to come home on the train? From wherever we are, luckily the sites are all up to Scotland ,on the East side of England so we should be within easy access to LNER services for a Stevenage stop. where we can get a bus home and to our local NHS services
Sorry to go on and thanks for your post
,PS the managers here have been excellent and very helpful even loaning us some steps to ease access to our van

It's been a cloudy, warm but breeze day, with just an odd spot of rain. We did a 3 1/2 hr circular walk from Market Drayton Cricket Club, taking in footpaths, lanes and a stretch of the Shropshire Canal, with a picnic lunch on a seat besides St. Mary's church, Hales. Called in at Lidl road few bits on the way back to the van. Site still has one empty pitch tonight, and has not been full since we came.

I would like to think they are not aware of how much noise they make but I fear they don't care.
Hopefully tomorrow morning we won't get woken up early, we have an empty pitch next to us and none of the 'little people' that came on site tonight. Site is almost full, quite a few tents and family groups.
Why folk have to get up that early is beyond me its supposed to be a relaxing hobby. 😁😁
Hope you have a quiet morning.

Yes it is sad that the government may delay lifting restrictions as many people have tried so hard to lower infections. Personally I will be glad if they do delay rather than get an explosion in numbers. I understand most cases are mainly in the younger groups who (only some I realise) often just don’t care as long as they are having fun!
Hope all went well with your eye operation Milliehull, thinking of you. 🤞

Are you still on the Roseland Heddlo? We've booked a cottage there later in the year, always love a trip down that way. I see the G7 are eating Curgurrell crab which comes from a little place just over the road from the Merrose site. I think some staying there sometimes miss out on a stroll over to find it and also the footpath to the coast, the farmshop is very good although quite pricey! Curgurrell LINK
Yes, I think we'll have to endure another delay over the progress of Covid but if you multiply the daily figures into weekly etc it's a concern. I'd much rather see more vaccinated first. We still have people near us at home who refuse to be vaccinated, I hope some will reconsider.
I too, hope Millie has had her op and all went well. x

Nice start to the day ,site very busy queues at the facilties block men and women,
There are nine VW campers this weekend all the latest model vw base but only it seems two of the same conversion, one hightop the rest with lift up roof and Seven have toilet tents as well as awnings erected , two have children ,no curtain twitching needed as they all had to pass us sitting in the sun, and Rosa needs walking,

Thank you for the link brue. We are here for 2 weeks and will certainly be visiting the farm shop as we always like to support that type of establishment. When we were last here we visited the shop and must admit we were rather disappointed, not much stock in at all, veg or fish, but hopefully we will have more luck this time. Site very busy as you would imagine but very quiet, so enjoyable. We are looking for places to go that may not be too busy 😂!

Very sensible in my view if they delay. Can't really see how much difference it would make to us personally. Far better to delay now than have a full lockdown later in the year. Masks on public transport should be kept until the Spring of next year in my view.

I think masks should be worn in all indoor spaces DK until the vast majority of the adult population has had 2 vaccines. MiL (88) has indicated she doesn't want to go into a supermarket if masks no longer compulsory. Can't see she is alone in her view, particularly among the elderly, even though she has had both vaccines. It's a mindset.

Another great day, this time living life on the edge! Literally for a short time as we strolled along Curbar Edge in Derbyshire Peak District, high above the Derwent valley below.
Then we plunged off the edge (maybe I'm over dramatising this walk🤔) and ended up in the valley walking alongside the river before having to climb halfway back up to get back to Baslow.
Have to say we've enjoyed Derbyshire at its very best this last fortnight. No wonder it's our favourite county.
On a different note, if Millie has bought a parrot we'll know things haven't gone well but I trust the NHS will sort her out. Fingers crossed though. Good luck Millie.

Hope millie's op was a success.
Sounds !like a good day out WN. Some great walks to have in that are.
It started off cloudy here but the sun soon appeared. Drove over to Swynnerton Old Park where we had a walk through the forest. After lunch we did a shorter walk in Harley Thorns. We have a clear sky now and the base that was present earlier has cleared so the views are excellent again.

We think the same about some of the early leavers. They have no consideration for their fellow campers, sadly.
Much quieter this morning so woke up when we chose.
Hope it was the same for you, TG.
We're down to just 3 caravans on site for tonight.
The site owner is around at about 9:00 each morning wiping down all the recycling boxes, the bins and the taps with sterilizing fluid. Most efficient.

You seem to have done many of the same walks as us during your time in Derbyshire, W. That Curbar Edge walk is a great one to do, but quite a slog to get back up from the valley to the car park (if you started from the RSPB car park.) We saw a pair of ring ouzels just after the start of the walk last time we did it.
We always enjoy the Peak District, great walking, great views and never seems to be as busy as the Lakes or the Yorkshire Dales.
We're off to Shropshire on Monday, a cottage midway between Ellesmere and Chirk, another very underrated area of the country.
