We live in Pendle, Lancashire.
The increased number of Covid cases in our area are in the Nelson and Brierfield districts.
We live in Newchurch in Pendle, up there with the witches, and have absolutely followed all the rules / advise / guidelines throughout this awful pandemic.
However, after, what, 16 months of restrictions, and being fully vaccinated against Covid, not sure I’m too keen to still to be advised not to travel outside the locally. Will this all change in a couple of weeks....🤔0 -
More media attention yesterday! We will only be small segment on a well loved Sunday evening programme, to be broadcast soon (not sure when).
A few photos from our side of the camera over the years.

Thank you ABM. I have my shades at the ready 😎

Went to give my 12 weekly blood donation yesterday afternoon. Failed due to slightly low iron levels
. Nurse recommended i need to go to the pub more and drink Guinness

Got my own shades handy, Millie, but its cloudy and no chance of seeing the ECLIPSE sniffle, sob

.Had a short run out to a Garden Centre, ( Bridgemere
not advertising, honest
) and got proof I'm C19 proof at present -- in the general trading area I bought a couple of shirts proving my appalling lack of taste is built~in and the gentle aromas of the south Cheshire farms prove, should proof be required, that my sense of smell is 120% of virus test level !!Hope you all are operating at Top Level, I've decided to use the test match listening duty to get the full laundry done -- so behave, play nicely, bieeeeeeeeeee

Got back from the M5 at 10pm for the second time in two weeks after a lovely get together with eldest daughter and family in the Midlands. A chihuahua get together went well too, our little dog is 22 months old and her host is 6 months old.

The 10pm late arrival was due to junctions 22/24 being closed so we had to make a tiring diversion through the winding roads of the Polden Hills. Anyone heading further south is diverted via Highbridge and Bridgwater. Barrier improvents going on. If you're heading south soon it's worth checking.

Another day at home again for us. During lockdown we planned many days out but it's so crowded here it's not enjoyable. On Monday we travelled 18 miles to visit our daughter, traffic jams on and off all the way. The pub car park next to her, which is huge, and never full, was rammed at 4.30 on a Monday. This morning a trip to Tesco, a 4 mile traffic jam to get there and then found the red light outside and a queue around the block to get in, not seen this before. I should have known better on a cloudy day when holiday makers are not at the beaches. Think it will be like this now until November. It's not nice for the holiday makers either when it's this crowded, I expect many will be glad to be off abroad next year.

I don’t think you are being over cautious Nellie. Think we would have done the same if there was nothing specific we wanted to do or see.
These are trying times, and a bit of compromise and change can often be sensible. We usually do an overnight stop to help Mum, take in a nice meal, have a more leisurely drive when heading away a good distance to a cottage. Not this time. We are going up in one go, Mum can snooze in car while I pound the Jeep up the A1. OH is taking MH up, hopping over a couple of days, remote sites out of high case level areas. MH will be our day out base just in case we don’t deem cafes or public loos as safe as we would hope. It’s not easy looking after someone with dementia who doesn’t remember the dangers, so our plan to have a good time, but all be as safe as possible.
Thoughts are with those stuck in the high case areas. We endured high levels most of last year, and it’s only the last couple of months that have seen our area doing very well. But is climbing again sadly.

We had a Motorcaravan arrive yesterday from Manchester area their Friends arrive sometime this afternoon also from Manchester area,in their words to get away from it
Did not believe when told keep away from Canterbury an Maidstone then

Another reason OH is wary about leaving the site

Brue glad you got home ok and diversion along the Polden Hills our old home area as for winding roads come to the Cantal where we are at present in a cottage very bendy and steep roads and as OH's 4x4 needs a small diy chore before CT(MOT) when we get back we are in my little car never had to do so much gear changing up and down plus braking. Had a good trip out today to Conques a well known village not far from here not to many folk about, a lot of walkers as it is on the famous GR65 route, even managed a coffee outside and then later a lovely meal on a restaurant terrace overlooking the village and views all well organised and social distancing, shame a few folk did not bother with masks when walking around the village as enough notices to wear one, after that we made our way back and stopped next to the river Lot got the chairs out under some trees and had a quiet afternoon watching some folk fishing and some in canoes.
We move further into the Cantal on Saturday for a week then back home.
Hope all goes well on Friday Millie with the op.
Seems strange being out and about and not hearing any English voices.

Redkite. It sounds lovely to be visiting somewhere like Conques without too many visitors around.
We had to be careful in the Poldens last night, the woodland areas produce lots of creatures, we had a near miss with a Barn Owl, quite different to the busy day time road.
Just found two of our neighbours are moving out at the same time next week, so two sets of new arrivals together. They'll be next door to each other as well, so they can share removal stories!

Brue, I seem to recall that, 12 months ago, the Social Distancing rules clearly said ~~> Keep Two Metres or Seven Chihuahuas apart please

Nth & TtDA, Quite agree about keeping oneself safe & virus-free -- my Ducato sits outside the front window and is unlikely to hear the ABM snores resonating around unless I get caught napping in a long, long traffic jam !!
Twas very strange logging on here this afternoon, I was met by 'Do you accept our cookies ?' page don't recall seeing that one before ! Could it have been due to the gentle aroma of fabric conditioner getting thro' to The Towers perhaps

Arrived at our new site just after 13.00. Its the C&CC at Clitheroe.
It's much more open than Ravenglass and looks to have recently had a bit of a make over. All the HS pitches have nice new clean gravel, all the site roads new tarmac.
The river Ribble is just behind the site and a walk into Clitheroe is easy along the banks. Will explore more tomorrow on the bikes.
Not sure yet what to do in the area as we don't want to go into towns etc. due to the restrictions and high covid cases. Will probably just go for bike rides and walks. Only here for 3 nights so I'm sure we can find something safe to do.
No sun again today but its still pleasant and dry.

Enjoyed an easy stroll from Baslow over the fields to Pilsley and round to Edensor and Chatsworth. Nice and warm.
DK, last time we were in a village near Conques we were admiring the window display of a Puppet Museum and got waylaid by the owner who insisted we looked around.😂 How could we refuse. No show without Punch.😁
Enjoy your stay.

Some lovely walks and bike rides near Clitheroe, would certainly recommend peddling over into the Bowland Fells, and maybe on Sunday, over to the Clarion for a brew with local cyclists (only option on Sundays).
I know we all have to be really careful about Covid, I certainly have been, but realistically, 39 people tested positive in the Ribble Valley area yesterday. Most of them 20 - 30 year olds.
Enjoy my home patch. 🙂

Tammy, whatever else else you do while there you must (and I mean MUST) pay a visit to Cowman's Famous Sausage Shop (unless you and OH are vegetarian
).I guess, because of Covid restrictions, they can't put out samples on the counter the way they used to - turn up at just the right time and you could have a free lunch!

Millie, hope all goes well with your op tomorrow.
Sounds like a bit of a tortuous journey home, brue. Good to read that you had a good time with your family.
Tda, have a safe journey up the A1, I know it's not your favourite road, and enjoy your stay at the cottage.
WN, there's a couple of decent walks from car park by the Robin Hood, 1 over the road a little way down hill then around to Chatsworth Estate, and 2 up behind the CP to Birchen Edge and Nelson's Monument, then across to Curber Edge then Barlow Edge and Wellington's Monument.

Dry warm but cloudy day here, with the odd spot of rain late afternoon. We did a 7.5 ml circular walk from the site today, mainly footpaths and quiet lanes.

I don’t mind the A1 Nellie, once past Ferrybridge it’s usually steady. I always check for slow moving traffic before we set off. It’s the M1 in our area I loathe.
I think our journey will depend on how early our 92 year old can be coaxed into action😂 She’s only just found out she’s going🤣 It’s that or the local dogs home for a fortnight, so I think she’s coming with us......1 -
We must have been lucky then brue, we travelled down the M5 on Tuesday, in fact we thought it quieter than we expected. We had a couple of days in Stover. Today we travelled down to St Mawes again traffic quite good fortunately. Quite exciting around Bodmin seeing a massive field full of police cars, vans, and armoured cars! Is there something going on???😂🤣. Already made the decision that we aren’t going too far this weekend!

Perhaps if you were to read this it might provide some comfort? It seems that the many of the initial possibilities on how COVID is caught have been more closely defined as more is learnt. We went on a bus today for the first time in about 18 months which was initially a bit scary but everyone had masks and all the windows were open. I assume you both have the advantage of being double jabbed?

Nellie, how very prescient of you.🤗
We had ready decided on a short walk in the morning so are doing the Monument one as we've booked a table at a pub nearby for 1.30. Then intend to walk it off at Longshaw Estate in afternoon.
Thanks for your thoughts. Have just booked to go to Hardwick Hall on Sunday as we can do with a change from walking, as much as we enjoy it.

If you want to do the Wellington Monument walk I'd suggest a road side park just before meeting the Sheffield/Longshore road as one heads towards the car park for Curber Edge.

I could spare it ok, TG, my washing, from sheets n 'lecky blanket right down to the specialist dusters, all been washed, rinsed and line-dried so even the waist bands of a couple of pairs of cord trousers are dry. All very carefully monitored so I've got away with absolute minimal ironing. Holding a steaming bottle of hot water ain't too pleasant this week
{ Had to do something to take my mind off the b***^^***g crikit -- Howooow
