Nice one Corners.

I was one of the unlucky ones on the M6 today
I had no choice as I needed to vacate the static caravan in Devon before 10:00. Although it was busy on the M6 traveling north it was much worse for those traveling south down the M5, there were huge queues for most of the full length.
Glad to hear Mrs WN is painting better, you can paint a fair picture with words yourself WN.

Really nice sunny and warm day here, we seem to have flipped from winter straight into summer. Only a couple of days ago we were wearing hats, gloves and puffa jackets and being blown of our feet.
Good to hear those away are having a good time and that the weather is behaving.
We've been busy all day. After doing the food shopping this morning. I did the inside of the caravan. Stripped out bedding, towels etc. then gave it a good clean through. OH gave the toilet cassette a good strip down and clean, likewise the flush tank as we kept getting the dreaded black bits. He has also greased the steadies and the drawbar.
Then after lunch it was gardening for me while OH pottered doing 'other' things. I managed to trim 6 bushes, we will have to make a trip to the skip at some point. Van and car washing still to come.
Bakers2, great work doesn't it feel satisfying.☺
MillieH, have a nice day tomorrow with your family.
The A9 going north, was nose to tail when we came back from shopping, its not half term here or a bank holiday so must be incomers😂😂😂
Corners, loved it 😁😁😁

I've been doing much the same TG, loads of washing and lovely to get it dry. I'm wondering why I planned another trip so close to this one (OH isn't best pleased either.
) So I've got to get things sorted over the next two weeks. The cat comes home tomorrow, he will no doubt be heavier than ever even though he's on a special low calorie diet. OH managd to cut half of the grass, very long and lush after all the rain.Nice to hear other breaks are going well. Hope you enjoy seeing the family Millie.
Glad to hear your family arrived safely Debsc, the local roads are the worst we've ever seen them with holiday traffic.
I'm impressed with your efforts Bakers2. A walk in cupboard in our hall will get my attention next....we can't walk into it at all at the moment, the contents come out to meet us!
Looking forward to some sunshine over the next few days. 🌞

You lot are making us feel bad!! No tidying/chucking out of cupboards or lofts here, but we did start preparing the caravan for our trip away in 10 days time.
All surfaces cleaned, plus fridge and rest of kitchen, bathroom apart from shower (see below) and all curtains dusted down, doors and mirrors etc etc.
The shower we will leave till we are on our first (serviced) pitch as, as the van sits on the driveway, it is nose up and the shower does not drain.
OH had been instructing me as to what needs cleaned, she has done quite a bit, but with her dicky right shoulder and non functioning fingers on the other arm, her input is a bit limited.
Apparently I still need to clean the windows, and the air con filters. Best not to argue with OH!!!
Tomorrow we are off to see DS and family as by the time we get back (mid July) they will be off to their holiday house on Islay.w

Mornin' All
---- Sun in South Cheshire is pouring down out of a clear, cloudless BLUE SKY { On a bank holiday week end too
}Hope you all are doing enjoyable BH W/end things while you can ~~ Thinking of such things reminds ABM that in a few short weeks the nights will start drawing in and my nice newly installed solar powered flood lights will come into their own !!
Such thoughts also remind me :~~ I wonder how old Malcolm is doing
as well as Pauline the footie fan and a fair number of others ~~ Hope they are all well and just not posting from choice.0 -
Bright blue skies, temp nearing 19 C and going higher. Everyone from the Midlands seem to be here. Staying at home, no traffic, no people and plenty of wildlife. Chairs out for first time this year. Just the Sheep and lambs to see to. Provided no plonkers come with loose dogs it will be great.

Last night we sat out till late, watching the sun go down behind some of the machinery waiting for the silage starting pistol. Today it's all go - grass being dropped at a fair whack.
Sorry - I may have reduced the size of the photos a bit much.

Just back from our walk. A mixture of dappled sunshine whilst walking through Coombes Valley RSPB reserve and full sunshine when we were walking across the countryside. A good 4 hour stroll.
Lovely birdlife and nature. Quite a few new stands of Bluebells out. Mind you it is quite high up here.
Francis would have enjoyed it here this weekend as there's a Classic Car rally at Capesthorne Hall just up the road from the CL. Saw plenty heading that way when we left this morning.

Lovely photos Goldie. We are off to one of our favourite CLs this week, the Oggs at College Farm👍Hoping to see some of their latest newborn Limousin’s, will try and get some photos. We were invited to get up close and personal with their huge Bull last time. 😁

Been another glorious day here very warm and sunny. This morning we just relaxed around the van had a few coffees outside before deciding to venture out at around 2. Ended up visiting burdoswald Roman fort near Brampton we were at it many years ago but though it would be a nice way to pass this afternoon. Very good not too busy and some great views from the grounds we felt it was slightly on the expensive side for what it is and you have to pay for parking but still we enjoyed it. Got fish and chips tonight from the chippy in the town as usual they were great now back at the van sitting outside still warm.
WN - That is one of the things I have missed most over the past year now car shows I often go with our classic Merc to a few throughout the year and have many friends who I meet up with but haven’t saw any of them for ages now and the Merc hasn’t been out it’s garage for months will need to get it out and MOTD soon in anticipation of some late season shows

Goldie you're ahead of our farmer, must be a first, torrential rain prevented cutting. I walked round the field due for a cut and the grass is the longest I've seen it, in fact everywhere is lush. The trees have had a good drink this year.
OH finished cutting our lawns, we've left a nice big patch uncut, it used to be the dairy walk for the nearest farm (now gone but family farming nearby) so it will be interesting to see what comes up.
Had a nice day planting up seedlings and pulling out unwanted stuff, easy to do whilst it's still damp.
After hearing the cuckoo on the CL site in Worcs I really miss hearing one here but we have lots of hatchlings getting ready to fly and more swallows appearing.
Catch up with a neighbour, nothing has happened, no news to report so probably a good thing!
Francis we still have our old MG and that hasn't come out of the garage for well over a year. There is a local meet when things are ok at an old pub a few miles away, the sort of pub with a tap room, no bar, OH sometimes goes along with a friend. The pub is known locally as Eli's, here's an old link to what it looks like....>PUB<

Photo size fine if you right click on them and open in a new tab. That is with Windows, not sure about other systems!

OH is currently respraying our MGB. In between lots of other tasks😂
Glorious sunny and warm day here as well today, forecast good for next few days as well.0 -
And the same for us, grand spot. Enjoy your stay, tda.

A shrewd guess for the reason for so many leaving could be the attitude of some of the new LV owners not knowing the etiquette on club sites.

Fine day yesterday, so we went to Hafren Forest where we did a couple of the waymarked trails along by the juvenile River Severn. Saw a Grey Wagtail down by the stream and then heard and finally spotted a Cuckoo, the first that we'd seen this year. There are huge banks of Bluebells along by the A44, and large patches of Pink Purslane.
Woke today to a misty morning, but the sun soon burnt it off. Easy drive down to the Aberbran CC site at Brecon. Lots of motorcyclists out today. Sun was still shining after lunch so OH did the clothes washing while I took Flyte for a walk. All washing dry by 5:00. The site is awash with birdsong, saw a couple of Treecreepers and we even heard an owl calling when we were setting up just after noon. We went for another walk after dinner as it was still nice and warn, although a bit cloudier.

I wouldn’t do it for only just over minimum wage. Staff have a great deal to put up with, and I suspect it will only get worse.
The one thing you can guarantee on a CL is that if anyone causes problems they get sorted out pronto. We have seen a few undesirable types shown the gates down the years. Makes for a much nicer stay if the bad apples are removed quickly. Rare, but one or two don’t know how to be good citizens.0 -
Thirty is not a massive number compared to how many there must be in total. Also are these experience site staff or people who have just started and found it not what they thought it would be? I suppose you would have expected them to honour their contract assuming they have one.
It's been a strange couple of seasons with COVID. For all the new people supposedly coming into the hobby there seems many at the other end of their caravan/motorhome career that are giving up for one reason or another, could the same apply to site staff?

Considering the season only started last month ,it is quite a few and this morning I was also advised they are so short of staff some sites were under manned before the exodus , and one site has not got enough staff to open? ,info did not say which site

It seems one of the problems also is many relief staff come from the older generation, who are apprehensive about covid and the lack of understanding by some members

Well there are certainly a number of candidates on the forum who seem to know exactly what the job entails (or should do) and seem to think they could do a much better job than the present incumbents. So shouldn't be too much of a problem!

I would imagine that some staff are weary of the long haul through Covid, the season may have just started but some have continued to work throughout. There was a shortage last year, maybe the contracts aren't secure enough for some, especially those who like to over winter somewhere else?
We were woken early by grass cutting, two weeks late, we had a chat with the farmer, still going on now, a big field to cut, then we went out for a walk.
