Thank you Millie. Yes we are having a good trip. The weather obviously helps but we also know so much about the area that we don't have to wonder what to do.

Meant to comment about the new Lewis Hamilton in your family the other day. He looks like he was having a better time than us. It's funny but the young(ish) couple near to us at home have a couple of young children who are currently besotted by toys given to them by Grandparents that belonged to the children's own parents.smile

Another lovely day here, slow to start but once it got going it was hot.

MOT of my car was done this morning and it passed with flying colours Phew!!! smile MH now in getting done tomorrow fingers crossed that will be the same.

OH went to see his Mum today along with his SIL, there can now be 2 visitors at the same time. Unfortunately his Mum was 'away with the fairies today' so a bit of a difficult visit.

While they were in visiting I did a trawl of the retail park,  managed to get some things I wanted but not all. Folk are now totally ignoring the social distancing advice. Our area will go down to Level 1 on Friday while most of the central belt and Dundee city will remain in Level 2.

Caravan now all ready for going away again at the weekend, garden also looking good and tidy, OH did a trailer run to the skip with all the garden waste. I've now filled another big garden bag laughing grass will get another cut at the weekend before we go.

MH has had another few mods done to it, I think we are now just about done with all the mods. smile

Glad to hear those away are having a good time and enjoying the weather.

We found out today that 2 of our neighbours are going to have parties the weekend we are due home frown so I will be trying to find a site/CL for another few nights on the way up from Stranraer wink why did I decide to come home on a Saturday cry

“Wild” horses are very territorial Nellie, tend to stick to herd and area. Could well indeed have been a youngster trying it on.

tda, these appeared, from a distance, to be farm horses as they were in an enclosed field up above a farm. There were a few free-roaming horses on the open access land but that was on our side of the valley. Guess that it was an incident that has to be seen from close quarters to fully understand exactly what was happening.

Hope that you had another good ride out today.

The old toys seem to be the best WN.laughing It certainly lasted well as our daughter's 2 younger children played with it as well.  Daughter had a little bike as well that he also loved so gave that to our grand-daughter to take home with them.

That’s us at the moment😁 we didn’t go out together though today. OH went for one of his long rides, while I kept the pooch amused with a couple of walks, and a bit of knitting in the sunshine. Then we swopped, to let me get some exercise. Been a lovely relaxing break this one, weather has been very kind, just clouded over a bit this evening. We are up and off in the morning, but not until we have had breakfast at the cafe!😋 Probably stop off at Normanby Hall for a look around Walled Garden, then meander back via Isle of Axholme route. I can see this CL being a nice August bolt hole if we can get on. So nice and peaceful.

Cloudier start to the day but still warm. Went for a level walk along the Montmouthshire and Brecon Canal today. Did just over 7 mls, had an enjoyable chat with a Welsh couple, dodged numerous cyclists, and got back to the car just as it started to rain. It stopped raining by 7:00 so was able to get jobs done, for our next move tomorrow, in the dry.

Ah.....in that case then, one you saw doing the herding is top dog, protecting his herd. It’s quite difficult watching a herd sort the pecking order out. Our old lad used to rule the roost at one bit, when out with a lot of other horses, but they don’t half have some fights at times. Livery yards, farms, sometimes have to be very careful which horses they put out together, they don’t all get on. Not just the males either, some of the mares can be wicked as well. Age of course takes its toll, there’s always some young blood waiting in the wings.......😂

    Then we swopped,

Ttda, Is he that good at knitting then? Wouldn't surprise me. Big brother was a welder by trade, tall and had big hands but knew how to knit a jumper and did quite often. Don't think he admitted it to his mates though.smile

Millie, I fully agree. We called in at Quarry Bank NT the other day and in their  second hand book shop they had some old jigsaws etc. but what caught my eye was an old Spirograph. Anyone remember them? They were great fun for a while.

Had a go at teaching him once. Let’s just say he doesn’t have the right temperament. (Mum got hold of his effort, pulled it nearly all out to “make it look right”🤣🤣)  I suppose I would be the same with welding....... 🤣

Some fellas are superb at knitting. Some ladies are ace at welding.... 😁

The father of a friend of mine was a knitter. He was a very stern, strict and unforgiving headmaster. Not always popular but he could knit a wonderful Aaron jumper.

Still got our Spirograph👍 And my Sindy, plus Patch, horse, pony, clothes etc.... Mum has loads of our old toys. No children to pass them onto...... we occasionally get the odd game out for a laugh....Colditz, Haunted House, Kerrplunk, Mousetrap, Headache, Battleships, Original Monopoly (I have a new GOT version) Lots of dolls, teddy bears. Our dolls prams are up in attic, they are lovely, proper miniature old fashioned nanny type prams. Some toddler toys as well. Probably covered in lead paint......😱

First cut silage done and dusted and all sheeted up - without a drop of rain. So we sat out last night, just enjoying doing nothing.

I knew what was happening outside this morning, before I got up. I shouldn't have left the window open. A rather agricultural smell wafting around. But if we want the grass to grow, needs must. And it has to go somewhere. We were lucky with the weather, some heavy showers this morning.

re old toys - when our garndson and family come up later this month, I hope he will be taking home his "Rocking Cow" that's been in the Box Room since he lived he as a toddler. I hope it fits in the car as I think our great granddaughter's buggy, cot and other paraphernalia wiill take up a bit of room. It's a long time since there was a baby in the house. It's not exactly baby friendly.

That is so true, the stables I worked at where our house was kept we had 5 paddocks. A mixture of ponies and horses, some private ones some belonging to the saddle club.

We had a chart on the wall indicating which ponies and horse were ok to go in together. Funnily enough the smallest pony was the bossiest, he would chase the horses and try and bit their legs.

We also had a 'Rig' who of course, still thought he was a stallion. He was fond of trying to round up the ladies. My horse was a broad mare so a bit of a tart at times laughing she got on well with the 'Rig' laughinglaughing

Nice bright start to the day, bit of a breeze today so could be a nice day to finish the work in the garden as it won't be to hot.

OH gone in to Perth on the bus to collect the MH, its passed its MOT smile just the big tow car to get done now in August. MH and caravan to go in July for their habitation service, seems crazy given how little use they have had but its better to be safe and the caravan is still under warranty.

I called the last CL on our next trip this morning to see if we could add an extra night on to the end of our visit, didn't expect to be that lucky but hey he had a space smile I think that's all my luck used up where sites are concerned, so must be careful when making more bookings.

Like everyone else still not sure if our September trip to France/Spain is going to happen or not, fingers crossed. We have sites booked for the journey down to Dover for the tunnel, if its not happening then I will need to re-arrange them.

The first one will be ok but the next 2 will need to be amended as we are only there for 1 night on each. If we can't go then we will spend longer at each location if possible, rather than a quick run down.

WN I will drop you an email re our visit to the Wirral smile

TG, we found that a lot of sites were booked up for September, even CLs.  In fact it would have been easier to get a booking in August.

Rain here overnight and this morning, not too heavy, but too wet for taking stuff out to the van again.

Yesterday we were at DD's as they were going for their vaccinations and we had to look after Nathan and pick up Callum from nursery.  Fortunately they had no side effects, they had Moderna, so we are having a "day off" today to do holiday preparations.

This morning I sorted "my" boxes and allocated them to either car or caravan, so one more thing ticked off the list.  This afternoon we will be shortening our new supplies of trousers,  even the shortest leg lengths are too long for us.  I think there will be at least 6 pairs to do.

Tomorrow we are back at DD's to do some more moving of stuff from the area that is to be re-roofed, starting date of work is to be the 14th, but the availability of the VELUX  windows may delay that.  Yesterday I dismantled the big dining table and we got it out into the hall and reassembled.  Not to eat at but to keep stuff on.  The stuff,  mainly plates etc, will be moved tomorrow and it all covered by dust sheets.

The now empty units, and the sofa and chairs will remain until they have a certain date, as they will have to be stored in the other lounge, leaving them only "the snug" as a sitting area for at least 4 weeks.

Fortunately they have SIL's Uncle, and his BIL ,available  to assist with the heavy lifting, and DD has assured me that she will   manage to remove the wall fixings herself.

Just hope it is all finished before we get home again!

Yes I know but there isn't a lot we can do about that, if we are allowed to travel abroad we will, if not then we will have to revise where we are going.

The 2 sites in question are both C&CC sites so if it still looks dodgy 31 days before then I will cancel them (already got alert in my phone) and if it looks ok at that point but 10 days before it has changed, then I will amend the bookings. I've never found a problem with finding another available C&CC site. If the worst comes to the worst we will use the bookings we have and then add more to it once things become clearer.

As its the MH not the caravan we intend to use, it does make it a little easier, there is always THS to fill in any gaps. Where there is a will there is a way laughinglaughing

Good to read your news David.

We did some necessary jobs about the caravan and shopped this morning so only got out for a walk this afternoon. Drove to Birchover and had a walk on Stanton Moor. Said Hello to the Nine Ladies and a glass of cider at The Druid Inn. Site still full. One off, one on!

TG - My breath has never been so bated.😂

JVB, a friend of ours has to put his wheelchair in the boot of his car, he displays a sticker at the rear of the car to say access to the boot is required for wheelchair access. Is that something you might be happy to put on the rear of your car to prevent it happening again.

That's a lovely area and a great walk W. We were there just a month ago but didn't actually get to The Druid (think they were only doing drinks, not food at the time.)

Did you walk past the caravan site at the top of the village? Probably a lot busier now than when we were there.
