Well we didn't exactly have to worry about anyone getting too close on our recent CL or at the local pub.

We had a very sensibly sited path on the last site we were on , but it did not stop some one thinking the two yards to the start of the path was a bit far and cut across close to the front of our Cvan, ,untill our car was moved forward

That's a lovely CL, Freddy, are the horses still there?
Forde Abbey is also close and a good place to visit and I seem to remember we did a nice scenic walk at Ilminster.
Glad you're enjoying it and the weather's perfect at the moment.

Our six lite ran out yesterday ,they only have six heavy n this site ,was hoping to change for a 3.9, as a standby as the cylinder just empty has been on for over two years , but no 3.9 available as has been the case for most of this season
Empty six lite in car and now just the 6 lite we started to carry in the car this year
3.9 to get when avalable

A beautiful morning for a bike ride. So we set off from the CL, cycled up the High Peak trail to the turn off for the Tissington Trail and cycled down to Tissington. Busy but only near car park areas.
Might need to put some extra weight on my bottom! A walk tomorrow I think.
Just about to grab a shower. Sun still out here.
Lots of late night sileaging going on last night but it was in the distance and it didn't interfere with sleeling.

TW, I could blame the auto word selection on my Kindle, which does have a mind of it's own, but it was must-read spelling to the fore again. I , of course, meant pedalling.

Rocky, my post was in reference to the reason for there being a shortage of wardens and I was talking about the attitude of some members towards them. There is no need, in my opinion, for the loud and abusive language that is directed at them occasionally. They, like most people in a service job are doing the best they can, under difficult circumstances at times.
However I also think that it does also apply to those who invade the area around one's unit when taking a short cut on a site. Don't think I've seen it on a CL though.

A bit of a wasted day really. Decided to do a stretch of coast, starting at Lyme Regis followed by Charmouth and West Bay. Got to just outside the main area of Lyme Regis and after sitting in traffic for half an hour we decided not to bother. In all, we were stuck in traffic for an hour. On to Charmouth and that was heaving too. In the end, we decided to come back to the van. That allowed me to finish reading an autobiography by my sporting hero, Ian Botham. Who can forget his heroics in ‘81🙂

Haven’t spotted any horses, although there is evidence of large mammals in the field behind us. The grass is short so my guess is he’s moved them to a field nearby, maybe. There’s a certain amount of development work going on, he’s just installing a glamping pod the other side of the hedge.
Oh yes, visited Chard garden centre yesterday - they’re a magnet for us - and bought 3 Penstemon and an Alstroemeria to replace the one we lost over the winter.

KJ, the ‘worst’ I’ve even seen it is New England Bay. We were on a corner not far from the shower block, it was a scorcher of a week I was out pre 6am every day & sat out with my Dogs as folk wandered to the block, no worries at all I spent at least an hour talking to different folk. We Yorkshire folk are yappers, we are also friendly👍🏻. Short answer-Yes I am happy with folk wandering over my rented piece of grass👍🏻🙂. I realise it a mentality thing some folk think it’s rude others don’t. I do however struggle with the etiquette thing-that is just so wrong☹️

Looking after granddog while our daughter and family are staying at our caravan. She has recently had an eye removed so they didn't want to stress her with the kennels. We said as its only for a few days we would see how it goes. She's a Springer/Cocker/ Beagle so three long walks today. I'm shattered. She is missing them and is following me everywhere, nearly tripped me up while I was cooking dinner. Conversation with daughter before she left, " she won't be sitting on our sofa like she does on yours" Where is she now? Yes, curled up next to me on the sofa!

Another lovely day here, another cycle ride. Some photos of CL, I think there will be a good few more putting in alternative holiday accommodation if they can get planning permission. Folks in pods are asking about campers, folks in campers are having a look inside pods, everyone having fun😁
Some lovely livestock here as well, great to see them ambling around fields.

Sorry you had a wasted journey, it's happened to us during the last year too even though we still hope it won't be too busy!! I nearly suggested going to Seaton via Axmouth and trying out the tram rides but I expect that would need a very early arrival as well...hope the book was good! Hope you enjoy your next break.

Been a roasting sunny day here today warmest for a long time. We were up and away early this morning as we had to have to car in at the Volvo specialist we use in Glasgow for it’s annual service at half 8 now all done although as usual it needed another few things such as two new tyres and a couple of track rod ends so the bill was higher than expected but not too bad and it’s a good car so worth it. Spent the day at the shops while the car was in SWMBO got a few bits and pieces all in all a good but expensive day. Forecast is looking ok for tomorrow so probably a day in the garden. Glad to hear those who are away are having a nice time

Freddy,I was lucky enough to be at Old Trafford for that test and it was the day Beefy hit a ton. I well remember him hooking Dennis Lillee for 6 right off the end of his nose, in the days before helmets became compulsory. A brave man indeed and seeing him also smash Alderman over long on for 6 with hardly any movement still stands clear in my mind. It was a spectacular days cricket which of course he then went on to finish with his bowling. I was also lucky enough to be in the hospitality tent after the game when he strolled in and a couple of the Aussie guys actually clapped him in ( and then swore at him but he took it as a compliment).

Walked from the site yesterday up through the fields to the open fells. Tried to follow the footpath signage but without success as nearly all the signs had been removed.
Wonder why, because all it results in is walked ending up trespassing on farmland.Saw a strange occurrence that we've never seen before. At first we thought it was a sheepdog herding a flock of sheep, away across the valley, but through the binoculars it turned out to be a herd of horses and foals which seemed to be moved around the field, in a group, by a solitary horse which stood well away from the herd. I wonder if it was the boss stallion and that he was being challenged by one for more of the younger stallions in the herd, as on occasions another horse would come out of the group and stand looking at the sole one. We were too far away to be exactly director what was happening but there did appear to be some aggression between the two. Anyone any ideas?
Another fine day today, and we drove over to Talybont Reservoir and walked some of the Taff Trail. OH was suffering a bit from yesterday's exertions so we only did about 5.5 mls. Heard lots of Cuckoos calling from both sides of the valley.

Lucky you 👍 I remember it well. We were camping at Ladram Bay with our (then) two young children. I got friendly with an older couple in the tent opposite, she was an avid cricket fan. We took the kids out for the day, with me thinking it was all over. When we returned she was very animated, proclaiming “he’s still in!” So we both sat listening to ball by ball commentary on the radio. Of course, Botham was the star of the show, but it couldn’t have happened without the help of the ‘tail-enders’, particularly Graham Dilley. Willis was on fire, bowling like a man possessed. Cricket isn’t always boring 😉

“Wild” horses are very territorial Nellie, tend to stick to herd and area. Could well indeed have been a youngster trying it on. We have been semi watching a small herd of jet black ponies on Dartmoor for years, around the Bellever area. Rare to get other than black offspring in that little herd.
Bit more info about Dartmoor, and it’s ponies https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2015/feb/24/a-close-encounter-with-the-arsey-ponies-of-dartmoor
You don’t want to know what happens to the ponies who are over the moor’s limit. Sadly they don’t all get sold on to nice caring homes....😢

And so it continues.........I had my second Jab yesterday! No sign of any improvements on my son's day centre apart from the two days that he is allowed by the powers at large, something to do with the 2 metre distancing. Respite for my wife is on the 21st of June, my son and I are heading down to Kielder for a week but no respite for him nearer!

Best wishes Robsail. Was having a quiet thought for you today. Unusual for me, having done something quiet, that is.
Plenty of time to have quiet thoughts as we wandered around a 6 mile walk. Parked at Ashford-in-the-Water and walked to Monsal Head on farm tracks then down the meadows alongside an animated river and up and through woodland the other side of the A6 (Moulesy will probably know the walk well). Lovely day and plenty of folk around the Head but otherwise we weren't bothered by too many people.
Came across a pond laid by a farmer obviously at the behest of local children and a supposed Newt haven. We were taken by the drawings and especially the poetry of a 10 year old. See photo. Also an old watermill en route and a sunset from last night. Think we're in for some rain soon looking at the clouds so no sunset tonight.
Hope those away enjoying their time as much as we are.

Good news on the health front Francis. Now you can enjoy the rest of your summer. So sorry to hear that things are not working out for your son with his care home or respite Robsail. Enjoy Kielder. I hope things work out for you and your family soon. Lovely photos WN. You sound as though you are having a really good trip.
Regarding E(e)tiquette on sites, apart from a french couple having a very loud row (I wish our french had been better so we could have known what they were rowing about 😁) right outside our motorhome on a site in the Loire we have never in all our decades of motorhoming/caravanning had a problen. On our favourite site in france we used to like the pitch next to the path to the beach so we could enjoy chatting to people. We made quite a few friends and are still in touch with 2 of those couples and meet up occasionally. I cant think of an episode on english sites where people have walked accross our pitch. Perhaps we have just been lucky.
