We're waiting for this good weather that is promised - not for holidaying but silaging. Machiinery is being checked and tested. Silage pits cleaned out. Weather forecasts are being checked constantly. But which one is right?
I'm indoors baking cakes that travel well in old ice cream boxes, along with sanwiches and pies etc.ย So far a large traybake using up leftover mincemeat and now dozens of fairy cakes. Nothing fancy. Maybe flapjack this afternoon. No chocolate if it's going to be melting hot.

Brue you are in my area of Worcs as I was born in Evesham and as you said unusual village names, have a good trip back home and beat the traffic.
Goldie the farmers around here have been busy and like you silaging and ploughing as the weather has not been good this April/May we were out on Wednesday and a tractor was ploughing a field very close to the road no hedges and as we went by he actually drove the tractor to within one foot of the road which had a slight slope made OH move out of the way, hope weather holds up for you.
Out gardening for most of the day yesterday just a few areas to tidy up today whilst OH did work on the car rear brakes are now done and change a few split pins also he has managed to find what the noise was it was a rubber boot over the cv joint so anew one ordered and coming all the way from Jersey so that will be a nice job for him when it comes, boiler suit and woolly hat again as it needs to be done as he has a service and CT(MOT) booked for 21st June and we are away from 5th to 19th June these things do not happen at the right time so we are going away in my car which is smaller so next week a sort out in the boot for extra stuff to go in there at least I have my own toolbox.
Belated birthday wishes TG and have a good trip home.
Enjoy your weekend folks and looks like a hot one here 28C forecast for today.

Summer started yesterday, the Solent was positively glistening, a bit cloudy today but promising to be a glorious weekend, going down to the beach house today to sort out for the weekend
, then off to Cornwall Tuesday for a couple of weeks, van had its dose of "Bobby Dazzler" so all good.

Not as sunny as yesterday yet , out with Rosa on dog walk on site perimeter was being watched by a Hareย with the sheep ,in the field next door

Have decided to take out the "miles tracker car insurance" have fitted tracker as advised by company, before it is due, and it is pretty accurateย as the dashboard app on my tablet has shown every journey the car has been on, and the "find my car" part of the tracker works fine

Yesterday what I thought was Interference from the tracker was the batt on keyfob was dying hence quick M20tripto nearest kia dealer

We are at Low Moor Head just near Carlisle Nellie. Itโs a bit more expensive than some other CLs but itโs a site we really like nice location and the owners are great we use this now rather than Troutbeck and this week we are saving ยฃ13 a night staying here rather than Troutbeck. Hope you are enjoying your trip away
TG - Belated happy birthday from usย
Brue - Sounds like you are having a great trip awayย
WN - Glad you got awayย

Sorting the caravan out and packing what we need for our night at home. Just having a coffee. Heading up to Quarry Bank NT on the way home for a couple of hours.
Hope you haven't hit one of those birthdays with a "0" in it Tammy! If I could I'd skip them.
ย Sounds like it couldn't have been a better day.ย How long are you away for Francis?ย

Just got back from three nights at Moreton in Marsh, lucky with the weather although still fairly chilly at night. Site very busy. Changed our usual 11.00am Waitrose delivery slot for an afternoon one. Added bonus was that I got my free Guardian as in their wisdom Waitrose have decided they can't guarantee paper delivery for slots before 3.00pm so stopped offering the service!!!

Site is filling up today ,some early arrivals before 1200
even thoughย it is 1300on website
ย which makes it difficult for site staff when they were starting to blockย the road past the site
And it seems by that several are quite new to this leisure activity by the way they are being assisted by others, orย they as mentioned by several site staff "its the bank holiday crowd they seem a breed apart"

Arrived back home late lunchtime, sun still shinning๐ caravan now back in its place in the front garden. All unloaded and 2nd wash on.
Garden has had its grass cut front and back and some of the garden has been made tidy. Couple of bushes will need a tidy up later in the week now they have finished flowering. The front hedge will need a trim, that's OHs job though.
We are in for a busy week as my car and the MH require MOTs. All booked so fingers crossed no issues.
WN,ย no '0'ย in this years birthday ๐๐

"Garden has had its grass cut front and back and some of the garden has been made tidy. Couple of bushes will need a tidy up later in the week now they have finished flowering"
we must have something in common, first thing i have to do on arriving home is sort out the garden, can not sit indoors knowing the lawn needs cutting, whilst in Scotland was often on the ride on at 2300 hrs, of course you could in Scotland during the summer months and nearest neigbours 1/2 mile away so no problems

We have had a nice day today weather hasnโt been too bad just a bit of drizzle now and again. We went in to Keswick today which was great as usual not too busy so we managed to have a lovely lunch in the Oddfellows Inn. Dropped in to Sainsburyโs in Penrith on the way back to the van CL here is full now a bit chilly to be sitting out so an night in the van tonight I thinkย

It was a very interesting visit to Quarry Bank NT site for a couple of hours.ย
Itโs a former cotton mill and the mill has undergone a large investment programme. Entry was allowed to the mill itself and we saw some practical workings of the cotton mules and the machinery that powered the mill itself. MiL worked for 10 years in a cotton mill in north Manchester so I can fully understand after hearing the noise how and why she is such a good lip reader! Really worthwhile visit for anyone interested in our Industrial history or just in machinery.Made a beeline for home, managing to avoid the BH traffic snarl ups and accidents.

Absolutely, you should try reading it. Other newspapers are available for free for My Waitrose Card holders if the reportage of the Guardian is not to your taste.ย

Early start, this morning.ย Leaving shortly for Specialised Automotive Products in Doncaster to get a software upgrade to the E&P levelling system. Since it was fitted, it's been a bit hit and miss as to whether the system recognises that the nose has been lowered (i.e. that the steadies are up) which it has to do before the system kicks in.ย Largely due to the length of the van and the longer A-frame. E&P have now recognised this as a problem and have updated their software which might be useful to know for anyone else having similar problems. Long way to go - but at least it looks like being a nice day!

Lovely surprise last night , we had a family meal out to celebrate my wife's birthday , a big one with a nought on the end ๐.Our boys presented her with their present , a four day trip to Iceland to see the Northern Lights later in the year .Of course I've got to go with her to make sure she doesn't get lost .๐๐. Happy days .

All except theย iย unfortunately!ย

We got back from our long trip to the north of england at 10pm last night. We were on our final site, a nice CL in Worcs but decided the traffic would be dreadfull today so left in the evening....ha ha. Two hours to get through Bristol at 7pm, needing a break we stopped at Sedgemoor to be met by marshalls trying to ease the flow through the services at 9pm. A lot of very tired looking families in loaded up cars. More heavy traffic all the way down to Taunton and the A303 a constant stream both ways, with overnight roadworks too.
I don't know where everyone was going to at 10pm but I guess Cornwall and Devon wiil be full!

Having spent most of the week doing refresher guide training in the Cathedral which although veryย enjoyable I fancied some fresh air and exercise yesterday evening so we went for an early evening walk round our local nature reserve. It was a froth of cow parsley which looked so pretty.ย We also wanted to check on the pair of swans who live there and we saw their lovely little brood of 6 fluffy cygnets. It was so good to see them.ย They are in a very safe and protected area so hopefully all will be well with them. Our journey home meant a short drive on the A47.ย I think the east coast must now be full, especially the caravan sites as there was a huge number of caravans and MHs..ย The traffic was horrendous with a very long tail back.ย Luckily we were going in the opposite direction.
I am glad you are home safely brue. I hope all those away are enjoying the lovely weather.

Our son and family arrived at 12.20 am last night they left early enough but said traffic was dreadful. As they got to the Westcountry he said some were trying to overtake in the most dangerous places, they clearly didn't know the road and not prepared to follow in the queue. We haven't seen them all for 15 months. However, I turned down the offer to go out with them today, just cannot face the crowds. Hopefully a nice family meal tonight.

Up early to get OH to her appointment with a sadistic nurse and a needle. That's her description not mine.๐ค
Then straight off down the M56. Glad we weren't going the other way into Wales. 20 caravans at 9.10 this morning in a 2 mile stretch. Stopped at Booths in Knutsford on the way to the caravan for vittels.
Mrs WN felt a bit giddy, probably the drive didn't help, so we're taking it easy. She's decided to do a bit of painting outside for relaxation.
Have a walk planned for tomorrow.
Traffic sounds atrocious everywhere.
I make a good bag carrier Trellis.๐

Great dog walk with a friend and her 2 this morning, included a good chinwag as were both in a similar situation with life. Sun broke through about 11am. As you say milliehull the cowparsley is beautiful.
It's now glorious and after lunch in the garden we're taking in the rays ๐
Loft is completely sorted, few bits to go back in tomorrow ๐๐๐. As is the old toy cupboard, youngest only 32 ๐คฃ๐คฃ. All bed drawers, wardrobe and chest of drawers in his room too. Now have toys for grandson to play with at our house, 3 boxes of son's stuff to go to son and DIL has asked for all the board games I listed - she'll be popular ๐ฑ๐ฑ so car full again for next trip........ Only just got us and the dog in last time ๐คฃ. It's amazing how much stuff we can acquire in 36 years of living here, my parents had 64 years worth ๐ฑ๐
Managed to find new homes for lots of stuff, sometimes making money! Makes me feel better that it doesnt go to landfill.
Bedding from that room blowing nicely on the line. So I feel we're justified in absorbing the rays. Still loads more to sort, but our room and the other bedrooms are sorted regularly, kitchen was sorted at it's refit but it's small so no room for unused things.ย That really just leaves the sheds, this will be much more closely scrutinised so will have to be subtle ๐คซ๐. I wasn't allowed to throw 45rpms that were warped and scratched even though we have nothing to play them on. Sadly the hifi got dropped as I was carrying it!
Hope everyone is well and safe and enjoying the sun, we seemed to have waited a long long time for it, home or away.
I now begin to feel slightly more ready for the next stage of our lives ๐

Been a lovely day here weather wise very warm all day which is a pleasant change. Each pitch on the CL we are on has its own bench set and parasol so we done a cooked breakfast on the Cadac this morning and relaxed under the parasol for a couple of hours very welcome. This afternoon we visited the air museum just outside Carlisle which was excellent highly recommend for anyone who happens to be in the area the displays were good and even with the restrictions that are still in place it was fine not expensive either just ยฃ4 each as concessions. Back at the van now still sitting out but itโs getting slightly cooler so will be heading in soon. Tomorrow is looking promising even hotter according to the forecast. Sounds like most others are having a nice time WN I donโt envy you tackling a motorway today we passed over the M6 earlier and it looked really busyย

There were a lot of happy wildlife watchers looking at the return of the Red Breasted Paddle Duck as they return to Roker after their winter migration, always a sign of warm weather. I missed the part where they shed their shells and come onto land in search of fried potatoes and Newcastle Brown ale, trying to attract a mate with their distinctive cry of why-I-pet.

Thanks for the concern Francis but I was travelling out of Wales, fortunately. Motorway was a doddle.๐ We avoided the motorway yesterday on the way home and used all of our old "only the locals would know these routes" routes.
CS, good job you left before they came ashore. Heard they're not that fussy.๐ฑ๐
Well done Bakers, and, .........breathe.......
Mrs WN completed her masterpiece so all seems to be well. She managed to get more paint on the canvas than herself so I took that as a good sign..saves having to rub her down with turps.๐ (again).

Well done Bakers2. A job very well done. It must be a great feeling to know that it is finished.
More training at the Cathedral this morning. Tours start for real at the end of this week. Hopefully we are all ready. I spent the afternoon in the garden, partly gardening and partly sitting. So lovely to feel the sun on my face at long last. We are off to our daughter's tomorrow afternoon to sit in their garden as it is SIL's birthday.
BT arrived yesterday to dispose of the telegraph pole that a driver hit and destroyed last Sunday morning. They then put up the new one and reconnected all 8 houses who had been disconnected. It took all day. I presume that will be a big bill to be paid by the driver. I hope they were insured ๐ฑ
