Opposite for us TG. Our week at Skybarn Farm, just outside Lincoln has been diabolical, weather-wise with the only sunshine being the afternoon we arrived - apart from this morning when the sun shone sufficiently to dry the awning out which is now safely packed away in the car ready for departure tomorrow. Only just in time - looking at the black clouds now assembling in the sky!

We've had mixed weather, mainly OK. Called at Warkworth Castle yesterday, but as the story goes for many places this year, bookings only. We did have free parking with our EH membership and it's handy for a walk around the town.
Managed to see son and family, not quite as planned but better than nothing. Might see them again briefly before we head to Yorks tomorrow.

brue. I am glad you managed to see your son and family, even though it wasn't as planned. Hopefully it won't be too long before we can see our families properly again.
After a reasonable morning it has poured with rain all afternoon here. So fed up with this weather now as I expect is everyone else.

Nellie, the last 5 miles is on single track with passing places. It can be a bit up and down and bends of course 😁 IMO an experienced tugger will manage fine, not for the novice.
The site is not small but its not huge either. It is partially tiered and pitches are a good size, well ours was, some are on grass and some have artificial grass set into the grass. We had a front row so all the site was behind us.
The site has a fair number of overnighters that arrive late afternoon. It was nice and quiet, clean and well run. The owner is ex Police officer, lovely couple. The site has the best views we've ever had the privilege to enjoy. Plenty of walking to be had and the beach is a delight.
The road north from the site is not recommended for caravans but MHs manage it ok. We did it one day in the car and it took us 1 hour to drive the 15 miles.
There is another site a couple of miles before Clachtoll but its not as nice and doesn't have the views.
The site owner is talking about increasing his fees next year and looking at a premium for front row pitches which could be pre booked.

Fairly dull and chilly here today, a few sunny spells, and a few rain showers.
The curtains have been hung up in Nathan's room and look very good.....whew!.......and they will be long enough for the snug later on.
DD and OH have been discussing furniture and re-arranging a few things. Apparently tomorrow I will have some painting to do in the snug, just one wall, then the china cabinet, which belonged to MIL, will be moved through there permanently.
One less item to store while work is ongoing, and a space later on in the living room for a more practical storage unit for china and glasses.
It will also look better in the snug as the woodwork there is dark, as is the wood in the china cabinet.
Putting all DD's ornaments etc back in it will take OH quite a while!!

TG, thanks for the info. I can't see us getting to the north of Scotland this year, and I'm not sure I can persuade OH that the far NW is a must, as she's not a fan of Torridon although does prefer Scotland to Wales.
The weather has been mixed today. It started off fine and we got packed away in the dry. We ran into rain as we drove up the coast and it was still raining somewhat as we turned inland at Aberystwyth. It had just about stopped when we got to our destination, a small commercial site, once a CS, with quite a few seasonal vans on it, so didn't get wet setting up. Rained again in the early afternoon but finally stopped around 3:30 and the sun came out. It has clouded up now but tomorrow promises to be fine. Might head out tomorrow to Llyn Clywedog for a bit of Osprey spotting.

The torrential rain and high winds we had this morning at Dunnet was starting to ease slightly as we left at 11.30, however we both needed full waterproofs to get hitched up and away.
By the time we had reached the coast the sky was clearing and the second half of the drive was done in lovely sunshine.
We arrived at Brora 13.01 how's that for timing

The warden told me we were one of the lucky ones as she had to call 15 people to cancel their bookings due to so many of the grass pitches being water logged, even some of the h/s pitches had big puddles on them.
It's been dry here so far and the wind has dropped, fingers crossed tomorrow is dry to.

Your tour sounds great Tammygirl (apart from some weather!). We love western Scotland, Loch Ewe, and Wester Ross generally are beautiful but haven’t tried far north much. We did stay in a B&B in Durness many years ago, which was so awful, cats just everywhere, but that’s another story! We were lucky enough to see our family last Saturday for the day, we had a few days in Stamford site and travelled down from there. It was so good to see them after nearly a year, the grandchildren have grown up so much, it’s not the same seeing them on FaceTime. We were indoors and had lunch with them, as the weather was good we spent some time in their newly refurbished garden, our son has been amazingly busy and it looks great. In the evening our DIL had booked a pub meal that she was expecting would be outside but the owner had ‘managed to fit everyone inside’ (he sounded so pleased) so we had our first meal inside a venue for over a year. I just hope we’ll be ok as we haven’t been doing that much mixing at all. 🤞

We got back yesterday after three days at Englethwaite Hall. The site was full Friday and Saturday, with a few spaces of Sunday. But because of the layout it never feels crowded.
Weather was "mixed" - that's mostly torrential rain, with a dry window on Saturday evening so we could cook and eat outside. But I've added an new item to my "must take" list - a woolly hat. I had a sun hat and rain hat but they don't keep my ears warm.
We got back in time for me to get embrolied in some complicated procedure needed for us to buy something from southern Ireland. Much muttering from me about Brexit. Then fire lit, Aga lit (takes 8-12 hours to get up to cooking temperature, so just cheese and biscuits for supper), and a large G&T.
Bck to reality today - 5 am alarm and 4/5 for cooked dinner.

I've just a chap on the phone who told me 'I'm the dandy highwayman who you're too scared to mention, I spend my cash on looking flash and grabbing your attention'
I told him he had the wrong number but he was adamant.

We had an uneventful drive up to the top of Scotland, roads mostly single track but not to busy so we had a good run to the CL at Laid.
We stopped at that CL a few years ago in September TG. We left early after a particularly bad night of near hurricane force winds. The MH’s were moving found on the hardstanding bits to try and minimise the buffet, we couldn’t and got very little rest. Another blow was forecast so we beat a hasty retreat.
Just spent 15 minutes or so penning an email to English Heritage. They offered a 3 month extension due to covid which I declined. Didn’t mind doing that to help out, but where as our cards used to show an expiry of end of June. They now show a start date of the 13th. As they are annual cards it looks as though they have docked me 17 days. As we are often away visiting place in the middle of June and wouldn’t be home to pick up the new cards it is somewhat annoying.

Heddlo, the trip has been great. Particularly the west coast from Poolewe to Durness where the weather was fine and sunny. We have had rain and some bad winds but mostly overnight, sometimes a bit during the day. We haven't yet lost a compete day to bad weather. Ullapool north is fantastic scenery.
SteveL, Laid is certainly exposed to the winds. We couldn't move around on our pitch either with the caravan so the side of it got the full force. A couple of MHs were parked up the other side of the cafe in the car park I think they faired better.
Lovely warm sunshine at the mo so going for a walk.

Why does things going wrong have a knock on effect on other things? Seems to have been a full year of it this year.
We had a Power Cut last night half way through me cooking the dinner. Fortunately it just required switching it back on at the mains box. Tonight the same thing happened so we decided it was probably the Fan oven element tripping the elecy. So we phoned a man who confirmed that that was the most likely scenario. He's coming tomorrow morning. We've used him before for cooker problems.
We hope he's on time as we're off to our next CL in the morning. It's not that far so any time before lunchtime will do fine.

WN these things happen when you do not want them.
A dry day today and getting a bit warmer and sunny dry warm days forecast for the next few days so gardening for me and OH wants to do some work on the car and as he will be under wheel arches it will be boiler suit and old woolly hat on his head, trying to sort things out before we go away for our 2 cottage break beginning 5th June so packing next week and now going in my car as it is a bit smaller than a landcruiser and better fuel economy.
Having checked over a few issues in the last few days we have decided not to come to the UK in September to a couple of club sites in Cornwall so now all changed to end of April into May 2022, ferry amended again and club bookings also amended kept me quiet for awhile and OH got all dates on his computer calendar now so hope it will go ahead, so will have a break over here for September with the van.

I wonder how many people have had to re-arrange their trips RedKite, it must be millions world wide! So hope your plans work out.
Goldie, yes a Woolly hat, this years, so far, much needed accessory! I've had to wear one this May, it reminded me of our Shetland trip when I wore a sheepskin hat in June!
Heddlo, seeing the family after waiting such a long time is lovely but we both said there's an underlying mixture of stress. We left Northumberland today with mixed feelings.
WN hope you get things fixed! This trip for us has thrown up several technical issues...just hoping things at home are still working and the tomato plants are still alive. Have a good holiday, at least you are getting away.
TG have been reading about your tour with interest, some nice sites.
It's pouring with rain in Yorks, one more site to go and maybe we'll be complaining about the heat..ha ha.

We hope he's on time as we're off to our next CL in the morning. It's not that far so any time before lunchtime will do fine.
Hope you get away by lunchtime tomorrow, WN. Is this a change of plan as I thought you were heading off today, or just me getting things wrong again?

Fine day here in mid Wales. Drove over to Llyn Clywedog where we visited a lead mine, walked a little of the Glyndwr Trail, and, after a drive around the reservoir, had a distant view of the Ospreys' nest. Didn't see either of the occupants in flight although could just about make one out on the nest. The first of their chicks had hatched yesterday so we didn't stick around for any length of time in case of spooking them. Lots of Red Kites around both at the Llyn and over the site, and Buzzards too.
Finally received notification of my account with EDF yesterday, following the collapse of Green Network Energy at the turn of the year and the appointment of EDF as our new energy supplier by the regulator. Now awaiting a further update from them concerning meter readings, which we took before leaving on this trip in April.

Regarding cancelled and rearranged plans, we have had 2 flights to see our son and family N. Ireland cancelled so far - first one in October and second one in April. We now have flights booked for August and do so hope it will be 3rd time lucky as we haven't seen them (except on a screen) since February 2020. We have just watched Springwatch and Gillian is filming at Strangford Lough which is where our son lives. I am SO envious. I was on welcoming duty at the Cathedral this morning and the wet dismal weather did not deter the visitors. We had some lovely people and it was so nice to chat to them.
So glad trips are going well brue, TG and nellie. It looks as though you will be getting some much better weather in a couple of days.

Sort of Nellie. We were due to go on today but I received an appointment for my orthotics for Monday afternoon and we had to postpone a visit from an engineer from then until today so it all got pushed back by a day, which was just as well as MiL would have been stuck when oven tripped everything. Probably would have had to get a neighbour in etc.
Glad to see you had a good day.

Nice one Corners, now I remember what I was missing on CT.
2 -
One of these days (months?) you'll get away as planned and not have a change of plan during the trip.....or will you?
0 -
Nevers, it's been a while since you were last on here and I can assure you that CT is even worse than the last time you posted. Now you can sometime have to wait for days for a post to appear, or at least it fee!s like it.

Must be orthotics day today WN. I have been to have my flippers assessed this afternoon as well. Thorough job, student and orthotics specialist. Should get new inserts in a few weeks, thankfully on NHS. I will be in touch shortly by the way.....😉
