What are you all up to

Having a cuppa whilst in bed this morning. Turned to Mrs and asked what were the plans for the day, knowing she was thinking of taking MiL to a local clothes Mill for some shoes etc. I must admit I was eyeing up a stroll up Moel Fammau but she said "Gardening!"
Oh well, it was really only a dream I suppose. Anyway we needed some new plants/shrubs to replace a few that have expired, unfortunately the Rosemary bush was one of them. So nearly £200 worse off, which did actually include 2 new bird baths, we set to after lunch, even MiL chipping in. She'll be asleep by 8 tonight.
We're all a bit stiff and sore but it does look a lot better and we have promise of some colour lasting through to late autumn at various bits of the back garden.Bird Baths arriving tomorrow so the tweeters will have to go dirty today.
Enjoy your meet up with your relatives Brue. It's been quite a wait. They'll probably be a tear or two, understandably so.

Lovely start to the day really quite warm , Almost put shorts on

Got OH on her buggy into village this morning not very buggy friendly as some drop curbs not very dropped
Bumped into a very helpful Ashwellian(local counciler it turned out)who was most perturbed to be advised as she thought they were all OK ,until she saw me struggle to assist OH. ,so she is on the case , and promised to advise us of what HCC have to say ,as they put them in

We then completed what we went into village for as we needed a Dart crossing ticket for our trip to Kent next week
We are now having heavy showers

A later start than intended plus an abortive detour to a weigh bridge added to the journey time, finally followed by a call in to Go Outdoors to get a pair of waterproof over trousers for OH and we didn't arrive at Wolverley until well into the afternoon. I am hoping that the purchase will prove a sufficient discouragement for future rain on our trip. Four nights here to get into "chill out" mode before moving on.

Wow still sorting but have managed to vacuum right through the house, using the soft brush on flat surfaces too!
Just watched the weather forecast for us tonight - touch if ground frost can't be ruled out 😱. Brue I spoke/typed too soon in my earlier post. And 40-50mph winds........

Glad to read the trips are going well. Been a nice couple of days here weather wise so we have spent most of the last two days out in the garden getting it tidied up put down a new row of slabs today hard work but looks a lot better now. Had the little spanner light come on the dashboard of the Volvo at the weekend telling me it is time for a service I though I’d get away with leaving it a bit longer then today coincidently got an email from the Volvo specialist we use telling me service was due so bit the bullet called them and booked it in for the beginning of June hopefully won’t cost me as much as last year having said that last year it was getting 10 year service plus water pump timing belt etc this time should just be a standard oil and filter Change hopefully. Getting the caravan ready tomorrow as we are off on Friday for a couple of night just local but looking forward to

Nellie, Moray won't affect us on this trip as last stop is the CL at Dornoch
Just found your post, TG. Is it at Davochfin CL you're going to stay? We have used it a good few times in the past. Just grand for walking the dog in the Forest adjacent.

We were due to visit Cirencester Park CC site this coming Saturday for 4 nights. Got a phone call today to inform us that our booking has been cancelled, due to waterlogged pitches. I do prefer grass pitches, but....
Moreton in Marsh is up next 🤧

Tough luck Freddy. Maybe you should post in the Caravan and Chat section about changing grass to hardstandings thread that's current.
Filthy day outside. Rain and high winds. Had to go to town this morning but Thursday is a quiet day and I was able to park close to where I wanted to be and was back home for 9.30.
Catching up on paperwork that accumulated whilst we were away last week. Bird baths have arrived and been temporarily placed. Hope the little blighters appreciate them.

Keep your heads down anyone that is currently away.

Got back from Bridlington CAMC site today. Weather has been a bit mixed, but some sunny periods. The worst was Tuesday evening just as I was cooking the burgers - a heavy hail downpour! Fortunately I could manage underneath the canopy....

Pouring rain here - as we gather together all the stuff for 3 nights at Englethwaite Hall. It was too wet last night to pack the car. Still wet this morning. Hopefully it'll be better the other side of Shap.
At least we're not going away in good farming weather.

Pretty much the same in the Solent area this morning except temp is 15c. Have to say i quite enjoy it and our weather in this area has not been too bad. Quite liking staycation, less hassle, caravan on drive ready to go at a few hours notice and no problem at the moment finding a suitable site and the roads have been very quite although there was a sink hole on the A35 last week that was causing some major disruption and a long detour in the Puddletown area, but all fixed now.
Cornwall 1st June for a couple of weeks, hopefully we will be able to avoid the G7 crush.

I understand the the train service that seems passes close to where the G7is being held ,will not be running for the duration and a bus replacement service in its place

Very windy here last couple of days, popped home yesterday and got grass cut

It depends where you're going, Rufs. There will be car park closures in Falmouth as well as the Carbis Bay/St Ives/Penzance area. Roads will be closed in the latter area and only essential travellers producing two forms of ID will be allowed through the check points. The disruption will be major in the relevant areas which includes Newquay Airport.
As JV says, the St Ives rail branch line will be closed.

Actually Cornwall isn’t too bad at the moment. Given the circumstances, I was expecting mayhem from 17 May onwards but casual observation of sites I pass suggests not. My own village which generally attracts plenty of visitors is busy, but not manic. No doubt it will change with the school holidays? Definitely not camping weather at the moment tho’.

Certain areas overseas aren’t exactly dry and warm either. We have been watching Giro from Italy all week, plenty of rain there as well.

Up to me armpits in sludge!

Couple of drains blocked that were causing an overflow due to the amount of rain that's fallen. It can't be the gutters that need cleaning as they were newly installed in late February.
Had a brief respite so have started to pack the caravan whilst we can.
We've been washed out in both Netherlands and Germany in May before now. It happens.

We tried to avoid the key areas you mention, we are staying at "Killiwerris" somewhere near Truro, no idea what the area is like or the site for that matter, but it looked good, away from the maddening crowds 17 pitches fully svcd adults only so just booked it, if we dont like it we can move one or come home, but not adverse to walking or driving so all good.

Hope the weather improves just a little, this is 2 border force vessels riding out the storm in the Solent today, notice Wightlink soldier on regardless, was blowing storm force 9 when i was out with dog this morning, glad we returned from Dorset before this hit

I have enjoyed reading about others trips away and have also loved all the photos. Good to know that you have enjoyed yourselves despite the weather. It is absolutely dreadful here today. Next door are having their old fence taken down and a new fence put up between them and their neighbour the other side. Not the best of weather for it!
It has been a busy week here. We have been sorting out and disposing of our caravan stuff. DIL has been extremely helpful and sold most of it on her Facebook group. We have also taken some to our local charity shop but they are not taking bedding or linen at the moment as they have too much so I will have to find some other means of disposing of it. Our neighbour asked us to take 2 of his old dining room chairs but they wouldn't take those either as they didn't have the relevant fire retardant labels (they had padded seats) so we did a quick trip to the Household Recycling Centre with them. We now have quite a lot more space in our shed and garage.
After a mix up with Specsavers over sending my referral for my cataract op to our local private hospital (they were very busy apparently so it sat in Specsavers for 3 weeks - I am very annoyed
) I have an outpatient appt with said hospital in 2 weeks time. I am hoping they will then give me a date for the op.I hope the weather improves for all those away and that you all have a good time. Take care in this wind and rain.

I meant to mention that the Cathedral is open to visitors as well now. After months of sitting in silence for 2 hours while people came in to pray it was lovely to be able to chat to the visitors and tell them something about the cathedral and also nice to see more of the other volunteers and staff. (all suitably masked, sanitised and socially distanced) I did a practice guided tour with my guiding mentor yesterday so now feel much more confident about resuming my guiding soon. The place has a real buzz about it at the moment.

Millie, good to hear you could find homes for your caravan contents via FB. I remember selling ours and how quickly it all went!
We walked to Seahouses yesterday, the weather started well and then gradually deteriorated, we caught the bus back just in time. Very stormy night and people grappling with awnings and tents. We took our wind out awning in when OH remembered our neighbours at home coming back with a shredded buckled apology on the side of their van...they had to cut it off.
You can just about see inner Farne on the harbour photo. Some brave souls did the trip out but we've been twice before so decided better weather was preferable.

Pleased to hear that most things are looking up for you Millie, I do so hope that your cataract problems are also resolved satisfactorily very soon, just hoping that the 'Buzz' around the Cathedral aint the central heating failing

ABM the heating in the cathedral was switched off months ago! ❄😳. I wish the 'buzz' was it being switched back on but sadly not.
bue, I remember many times having to rush out in the middle of the night to wind our awning in when we had our MH.

Yes, hope things move on quickly for you now Millie👍Good to hear Cathedral is open as well😁

It costs in the region of £35,000 a year to heat
so when they stopped services after Christmas during lockdown they switched the heating off. Us welcomers just had a little blow heater under the desk which just about keeps the feet and ankles warm 😳0 -
We arrived here on site early this afternoon only a 40 min tow from home but very windy today so we had to take it easy. Wind has died down a bit now but it’s been dull and chilly most of the day. We have just cooked pizza on the Cadac which was lovely might sit outside for 10 mins or so.
Hope everyone else has a nice weekend
