Don't we just know it!! Second day of near continuous rain. Yesterday we did manage to get out, as we needed to reprovision, so managed to fit in a couple of walks while out and about, but today all we, i.e. the dog and I done is have a clue of mile walks from the site. At least the wind has died down somewhat.

We took our wind out awning in when OH remembered our neighbours at home coming back with a shredded buckled apology on the side of their van...they had to cut it off
Brue, we got up before 7:00 yesterday morning to take our canopy off the van as the wind direction has changed and increased and the canopy was banging against the side of the caravan. At least we managed to get it off before the heavy rain started.
Millie, hope that you soon get the op that you've waited so long for.

If its a Caravanstore we used to roll up foam washing up clothes and place them behind the rolled up canopy to stop it moving and banging against the side of the van.

Thank you nellie. I hope the weather improves for you soon. It is dry here this morning but I think we have rain forecast for this afternoon. I read yesterday that Russia has a heatwave at the moment so that might be the place to go!!
We are going over to our grand--daughter's this afternoon to give our great grandson a hug. We haven't been able to do that since he was 6 weeks old. Mind you he is now a very active toddler so we might have to catch him first.

Gosh another wet start to the day! At least the really strong winds seem to have passed, yesterday was dreadful wind howling down the chimney and heavy rain from 1pm onwards. Such a change from last year when we collect Dora, it was the hottest day of 2020 to date, and we so pleased for aircon in the car - yesterday I had the heating on all day and still wouldn't describe the house as hot, we put the gas fire on in the evening for cheer too.
Today is supposed to be showers later on, but tomorrow rain again but at least we can go indoors when we visit our son and family, not to mention have a hug 😀.
Milliehull cant believe your great grandson is an active toddler already, they grow fast but it seems faster still at times. Our little grandson is coming up to 9 weeks..... Have a wonderful time with him. I hope you can get your eye sorted quickly, you've waited a long time. It is so annoying that you got lost in the system. I learnt, when I enquired about private operations for cataracts, they will do them regardless of 'ripeness' so hopefully the wait will be short.
Loft clearance almost finished, a few bits back, much cleared and new homes found, quite an emotional rollercoaster. Son and heir getting some of his stuff to sort, and grandson is inheriting toys ready for when hes big enough 😀. I should be able to see lots more of our bedroom floorspace after our visit.
Don't tell anyone but the sun is trying to make an appearance 🤫
Hope everyone enjoys their day be they home or away.

You could be rivalling Nellie for nights away at that rate JV!
Its dry here today, so early dog walk, OH will pound the tarmac in reality for a few hours, while I tackle weeds in garden. Then we swop over, he mows lawns while I hit the attic and tour Greece!😂
The pooch has his day planned....

Its catch up for last year
,we have sites booked for October into November
We have lost quite a few friends who had said we are going to do this or that but never did ,its a case or do it when you can, and now we seem to have conquered the Buggy issues

Sounds like you are good to go. We have a few days shortly at one of our favourite CLs booked, not far from home, possibly get in another shortie before the big push to Scotland. OH is going up in MH, leap frogging his way up over a few days. I am taking the Jeep with passengers all the way in one go. Lovely cottage at the other end for a couple of weeks. Then we have a trip to Cotswolds planned, some garden therapy. August will be suck it and see, one or two CLs maybe up on NY Moors or Peak District. Then........Cornwall🥰

The one add cost is we have decided before each trip to book one night on a pitch at Commons Wood ,it is where all our LVs have been stored ,and I can then load van turn on fridge, which in the past ,we have just loaded everything in the car hooked up in storage ,then sorted on first stop ,
We can now have Rosa on back seat of the car with a harness and buggy in bits in the back,, which will save a lot of problems we though we might get,
I was even looking selling car/caravan and having a PVC with our trailer which could be kept at home in front of garage ,but then no PVC no one in the house
Some of our locals 3we know of , have bought or leased the VW campers but do not have garages so the "spies" have no idea which house is not occupied when they are away

Our plans have gone hay wire, covid at son's workplace, probably the new variant so he is being cautious about getting together. He's just had the first jab, DIL still waiting. Just got to accept it.
Hoping to do a cliff top meet up tomorrow, about the best we can do with surge testing in the offing. Have been changing site bookings as we would be nearer to them tomorrow but would feel miserable not seeing them! Luckily found a vacancy further south.Blimin Covid!!
Enjoy your get togethers but take care. X

Oh brue. I am so very sorry. You must be so disappointed. I do feel for you. As you say blimin covid.

OH brue how disappointing. My heart goes out to you all. Hopefully slight comfort in cliff top meet. If the wind is strong, ensure you have sufficient ballast 😂. Glad you've found another site, it won't be the cure but a little less like rubbing salt in the wound. I think blimin covid is a very mild description of the situation. Sadly I fear where were heading again.

Sorry to hear about your hiccup Brue. Blimin says it all.
Sitting in car park waiting for Mrs WN to come back from her haircut. Safer here as its market day so plenty of folk around. The other end of C.P. is flooded.
Belated best wishes Millie for some eye relief.

Sorry to hear that covid has reared its head and messed up your arrangements,
That is the one thing that is the fly in the ointment at this wedding, just hope everyone there is sensible; there is the Max of thirty guests plus the venue staff, we have known the bride since she was born, OH has known Father of the bride since he was 11 now 60 so we could not say no ,it is third attempt since covid struck to get hitched

Yes sorry to hear that. Hopefully soon.

That’s hard luck Brue☹️ Best laid plans gone awry. Blasted Covid is still out there sadly doing it’s worst. Hope you do get to say a very distanced hello.
Same to your wedding as well JV, take care. That’s a good idea to take your time packing van, less stress on return as well. Must be a real bind having to store outfit elsewhere, we have always had ours at home. We have someone in house when we go away, always a vehicle on our drive, and neighbours have keys as well.As for the hairdresser, good on them, but I pity the fools willing to pay that much to be honest. I am never impressed by the prices v value for money in London.

We are talking about Sloan Square in Chelsea, a very exclusive neighbourhood
I am sure there are more reasonable prices in Hounslow. The very high prices are if you book the boss, otherwise there is a scale of charges based on experience of the hairdresser. Just in case you change your mind here is a link to the price list!!!!David

Talking of expensive haircuts, Mrs WN came back from hers, got in the car, turned key, flat battery.😱
Called Breakdown people. Very effecient and quick. Got it going but told us battery working on fumes. Called in on way home to our local Tyre and Battery place who confirmed prognosis, so new battery bought and installed. I blame the hairdressers!
Nice and sunny end to evening.
Front garden still showing signs of flooding in places. Checked our CLs for forthcoming trip and all have hardstandings, one of them has grass but H/s when needed. Think that will be the case this week.😂

Back to civilization today, Dunnet Head CAMC site.
Reading all your posts it seems we have had the best of the weather up here. Our 4 days at Clachtoll were as near perfect as one could wish. The site was lovely as were the views, beach and walks were a plenty. We will go again.
We had an uneventful drive up to the top of Scotland, roads mostly single track but not to busy so we had a good run to the CL at Laid. Its 9 miles from Dornoch. We manage a visit to Smoo cave while we were there, its big.
Today we drove across to Dunnet Head, drive was good roads very quiet for a weekend but the site is FULL. Had a lovely walk along the beach this afternoon, weather sunny but breezy.
On 2 of the days when we were at Clachtoll I managed to catch the sun while sitting outside the caravan, now looking very brown and healthy🙂🙂 more like myself.
We have 2 days here then down to Brora for 2 nights.
NELLIE, yes its the CL at Davochfin farm.
Millie, fingers crossed that you will get your op soon.
Gorgeous night here, sun still streaming in through the front windows of the van. No heating on as its lovely and warm inside, warm fleece required outside though😉

TG I think you mean Durness, there.😉 Glad to hear that you've had a good trip and find weather!
Surprised to hear that the roads are not too busy. What was the road like out to Clachtoll? If you've not been to Dovochfin just take care as the entrance is quite sharp, rises fairly steeply between stone walls and not really obvious. You will spot fishing lakes on your left, coming from Dornoch, and the access is then on your right.

It is Fiamma Caravanstore David, but I can't see how to attach anything behind the rolled up canopy. It sits on top of the awning light bar and it is against this that it bumps.

I'm impressed, JV. At that rate you may well tot up more nights than us this year, but we'll see!

August will be suck it and see, one or two CLs maybe up on NY Moors or Peak District
or perhaps Lincolnshire, tda?

Dammit, David £ 30 for the baby's first hair cut ~~ at the risk of seeming to be mean, That's Daylight Robbery
.This old **** could get hair cuts for two years for that - granted at Elderly Gentlemen's rates ( Tips included
)Right now the sky over the County Palatine is a gorgeous blue and clear as a bell with not even a single vapour trail in sight -- don't think it will make thu to morning tho' !! I'll probably get rather damp on my trip to get the Sunday Scuttlebutt

Oh dear, WN. Your car or OH's? Costly all the same, especially after all your other recent expenditure.
