Thankfully a fine day here. We managed a couple of walks on the shore near New Quay before getting assorted tour of the animals at the CL we are staying on. They have 9 Alpacas, 3 Miniature Shetland Ponies, a number of Pygmy Goats, Poll Dorset Sheep with their lambs, chickens and ducks, a couple of which visited us yesterday at the van as there was a pond outside the door!!😊
By coincidence a young couple in a PVC, that they have converted themselves, pitch up next to us this afternoon, just as they did last week at Rivendell.

We have had mixed weather this last week, mainly sunny, and quite warm in the sun, but also sudden showers and a cold wind at times.
We are "winding down" the work on DD's house in preparation for getting into holiday mode. Just doing a few small jobs and spending time with Callum and Nathan. OH has been helping DD to pack the contents of her living room cupboards ready for evacuating the room when the builders give her a firm date for starting the roof replacement.
The roof being replaced, with added Velux windows too, is on a large living room extension which links the kitchen and original lounge making a huge U-shaped space. A plan has been made for where all the furniture will go, namely mainly in the original lounge which will hopefully be closed off sufficiently to keep the dust out, but the dining table and chairs will have to be out in the hall, with all her best dishes stacked on it and covered by dust sheets.
DD does not want to implement it too soon as they will be losing most of their current living space, and be confined to the kitchen and the "snug" for several weeks, but it has to be sorted before we go away on holiday as they cannot manage to do it all themselves.
We have a "day off" tomorrow to work on DD's curtains and catch up on things at home. OH also has the Guide Hall accounts to do. Next weekend we will start getting the caravan ready to be packed. Packing will take a while as things are spread around the house so have to be found first! Just as well it is still 18 days till we set off.
OH has swapped out another CAMC site, we are splashing out on a serviced pitch on a CCC site, and still saving money. She tried to book a couple of CLs, but they were all booked up.
Good news this morning, DD and SIL now have vaccination appointments.

What we did was to fold in half and then roll up a couple of Spontex sponge washing up cloths and then add elastic bands. These rolls were then placed behind the Caravanstore at the top of the inner upper curve of the canopy if that makes sense? This held the bit that bangs just far enough out from the side to stop it banging. You have to remember to take them out before you travel!

We had a bit of a rude awakening this morning. Just after 6 am we heard a bang outside and a car had left the road, mounted the pavement and hit a telegraph pole. When we looked out of the window a man was running off and an hysterical woman was running around in the road. OH and neighbours went out in their dressing gowns and I phoned 999. Fire crew, police and ambulance arrived. I don't think anyone was hurt but the woman was probably being treated for shock. Car now taken away on low loader and everyone else gone so all is now quiet. We will now get on with the rest of our day. It is our eldest grandson's 14th birthday so birthday cake and tea are planned in their garden. It was supposed to be a BBQ but in view of the weather they decided that was a step to far so It will just be a quick visit today.

We had a quiet day yesterday, popped out to buy an AA battery (had to buy a pack) as the automatic ignition on the gas fire wouldn’t work - no fancy central heating in this caravan. We pinched a battery out of my laptop mouse until we got a replacement. I’ve now updated our checklist to include spare batteries.
We sat outside in fleeces last night while barbecuing - making the most of what seems to be the only fine day. Very noisy rain on the roof this morning, compounded by drips from trees.
My husband cooked a wonderful breakfast (as he did yesterday). I reckon he’s a keeper.

That’s going to be an interesting meet up if those two are an item Millie. Fancy abandoning her😡 Good that no one was badly hurt though.
Our weather is a bit better than forecast. It’s dry, but I suspect more of the wet stuff to come. I had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon in garden yesterday, weeding and then a few other tasks. Blinking rain doesn’t half bring on the weeds. This time last year, our lawn was baked brown, roses were starting to bloom and we spent most days outside enjoying the glorious sunshine. What a contrast.....

I wouldn't pay £30 for anyone to cut my hair.... when I go to the barbers and ask him to cut my hair, he asks me which one!! 🤣🤣🤣
Seriously, I can't remember the last time I went to the barbers. When my hair gets long, my wife sits me down on a chair and cuts it!! However, it doesn't take long as there isn't much of it..

Coming towards the end of our stay at Skybarn Farm CL, near Lincoln. Most enjoyable stay (again) in the 'lap of luxury' with fully serviced pitches! I'm getting to that stage in life where emptying a full Wastemaster is becoming a real pain (literally!) - so really appreciate not having to bother with that. Weather has been pretty awful with high winds and rain lashing down most of the time but we did manage a BBQ yesterday evening. Nicola has struck a deal with a local business who deliver rather delicious afternoon cream teas - so we're also looking forward to that little treat, this afternoon.

My thoughts exactly tda. I don't think he will be winning the award for 'Gentleman of the Year'.

We are back home after a nice weekend at Ayr Craigie Gardens weather yesterday was lovely quite warm we sat outside most of the day had a few glasses of wine didn’t head back in to the van until after 8 when we watched Eurovision what a lot of rubbish but there wasn’t much else on and it can be a bit entertaining sometimes. Not been a great day today packed up in between rain showers and had an easy 35 min tow home. Decided to wash both the car and caravan when we got back so now soaked. Out for dinner with friends later which will be nice first meal out for a long time. Home now until the end of the week then we are off down to the lakes. Enjoy your break Goldie

You were lucky getting a dry day yesterday Francis. Chucked it down all day here.
Managed to get some of the stuff packed away in the boot of the car as we're quite busy tomorrow and Tuesday. Just last minute things to go in now.
So, do I take the sun factor 30 or 50? If I also take the faux leopard skin Mankini will it affect which SF I take? The Parasol is already stowed in the boot, for those think they get one over on me.

Yes same as usual here. Pouring rain, very cold, but not quite so windy. Central heating on. Looks likesome respite from next Thursday, but that will be nearly June!! No wonder I have not heard a cuckoo or seen any of the swallow family

It was - couldn’t manage it all and quite a lot’s gone in the fridge for tomorrow! Absolutely scrumptious. Definitely a “must “ for anyone staying here in the future!

Another dry day here in Dunnet bay. Windy with sunny spells, wind coming from the opposite direction to yesterday.
Took a drive out to John O' Groats, really windy there so was a quick visit. We spotted a couple of CLs on the way back so checked them out for future, one is a definite while the other not so.
We were going to go out to Duncansby head but decided it was to windy for that. So drove back and had lunch in the van then took a drive into Thurso. On return we had another nice walk along the beach.
Sun out again now and coming straight in the front windows warming the van lovely. Forecast was for rain showers but so far they have missed us.
Nellie, yes I meant Durness to many D's round here 😁😁 thanks for the info on the CL at Davochfin.
We were chatting to a lady today on site, who recognised me from my CT avatar. She confessed to following CT but not posting. It was lovely meeting you, safe travels to Orkney, have a nice time☺
Off to Brora tomorrow, weather forecast not looking great but its less than 2 hour's drive so not bad.

Plenty of Swallows and House Martins around Cardigan area, FM. They may follow us over as we head inland tomorrow, and then you'll get to see some.

Was the one you liked Crofter's Cottage, above the coast behind the Castle of Mey, as we stopped they soon after they opened and it was called Viewfirth? Great views from it, although if I remember correctly the pitches were a bit tight.

Not seen any, but there are hedgerows made of Laburnum trees, which I've never seen used that way before.

I will have to try and put it into practice, David, but at the moment can't actually figure it out. Thanks anyway.

The morning started off fine so a dry first walk with Flyte. Drove to the NT's Llanerchaeron House, Garden and Farm. Rain started while we were there, but we did manage a walk, after lunch in the car, along the old railway line nearly to Aberaeron. Thankfully it wasn't too windy and we could use our brollies, again!!
The wind must have been quite strong at the site as it look like a disaster area round a couple of the vans with abandoned awning and canopy. Some people obviously don't listen to, or take notice of, the weather forecast.

Sun early on here, but then dull and chilly, had to put on some heating.
DD's curtains are finished, meantime. They will be used first in Nathan's bedroom, but are really intended for "the snug", if they are long enough, so the hems are not being finished at present.
The house has high ceilings and big windows, so these curtains may just be too small for the snug, which has one of the bigger windows in the house, but there was only so much fabric as it was originally purchased for use in her previous house.
Not sure why they call that room the snug as it is a big room, the original dining room before the house was extended and converted into 2 flats.
OH has made a start on the Guide Hall accounts, lots of paperwork to sort out first, and missing receipts and bank statements to be requested, before she can really get into it.

Some grey clouds out to the west but some very bright sunshine beating down on my toeses just now, so hope it is going to get more and more sunshine to help dry up the weekends sogginess for you all.
Keep warm, dry and get your exercise please -- well at least until the next wet session arrives

Off to Brora tomorrow, weather forecast not looking great but its less than 2 hour's drive so not bad
one of my favorite sites TG, when we lived in Scotland and was working, we could drive to it from home in approx 4 hrs, so early off on a Friday could be there by 1800 hrs, fantastic beach with a lovely walk towards Golspie, we had friends who lived in John o' Groats so we often met up at Brora, happy days.
Lots of wet stuff dropping from the sky at the moment but 20 degs by end of week
, hope we dont use up all the sun before we get to Cornwall next week

Rufs, I started a thread in UK Sites & Touring the other day about the disruption being caused by the G7 (it's already started). There's a link to the Police website giving full details and it may be of interest.

Well our run of good weather has come to an end this morning. Its absolutely foul out, high winds and lashing rain. No chance of staying another night as site full. Good job we have full wet weather gear with us.
Hoping the wind will drop a bit before we have to set off. Won't be leaving until 11.30 ish to time our arrival for 13.00.
Although its rained since early morning the grass pitches are not water logged as its well drained ground. The roads have small puddles but not bad.
Well time to start packing up.
