Beautiful if cold day here, much less windy than recent days. After the fish man called we decided on a walk in the local forest. Our 4 mile circuit was a lot less muddy than of late, all except south facing slopes being rock hard. The pictures are on the mile or so straight track that runs through Sherwood from Centre Tree to the Major Oak. It still has much off its tarmac surface, put down in WW2, underneath the leaf mould. The forest was used extensively for munitions storage. The surface has deteriorated a lot in the forty years we have lived here, but still provides a less muddy walk than many of the newer paths, when the weather isn’t as cold as today.

Thanks for the reminder. My Photo one runs out in July. As it will only run for just over a year until I am 70 it might as well be renewed now, when I have time to chase it up if it does not arrive. I don’t suppose they give a discount for it not lasting 10 years.☹️ As I have just renewed my passport at least it should be straightforward.

Great photos, Rufs, Steve and TDA. All stunning

Great photo TDA not very old.
Saw a ad on our local website for 6 year old Cocker Spaniel who looks great but OH said no to having another dog now 12 years since our last dog passed away.
The sun has been out all afternoon and managed a walk down the road as the tracks are very muddy .
We have just had our residency permit cards arrive but the photos of us are awful OH's top of his head has partly faded on his card made me laugh, we did not go for full residency to much involved.

Daughter sucumbed to this one, spaniel pointer cross, she picks up at end of month, but i suspect it might be coming our way when everybody has to go back to school and work

And look what our daughter did to poor Smokey, sheared him poor dog,
but they do live in Spain and the weather is starting to hot up so perhaps for the best,

I used to clip all our Airedales for their holidays. Got very hot some years down in Cornwall. Spain will be very warm. Nice looking dogs Rufs

Lovely doggy pictures today BUT please take great care of them -- The thieves are out making a fortune since Lockdowns started. And they don't bother how old or young the pups are ~~ they just see money on four paws, drat them.

It is VERY cold in many places, Braemar had its lowest temp since 1995 last night.
However, the blue envelopes are being used to make them distinctive so they get priority delivery. They did not materialise quickly enough, so were white to start with.
I have finally got my vaccination appointment, rang the Surgery at 08.30 gave my details and am booked for 10.20 tomorrow at our town hall centre

Yes, it’s rather frightening. Our pooch normally goes all over with us, he’d even have sat in locked car (windows open) for 10 minutes while we were in dentist but not yesterday, we left him safe at home. Thieves are beating up owners, stealing from gardens, it’s rather unnerving at the moment.☹️
Good to hear your jab is finally sorted K.👍

Pleased to hear your news KJ, a relief for you!
I used to find the very low winter temperatures in some parts of Scotland the hardest part of living there, getting ready to go out with layers of clothes a daily chore...but the frozen ground was much easier than the mud we have down here!

Yesterday on our local "next door" website two people had posted that their dogs had been targeted ,lucky that both times the low lifes were not successful, and one of the local "pet hotels"has also had an attempted break in

Lovely and sunny first thing although obviously very cold (by MK standards!) but now gone a bit dull. I rely on the early morning sun to warm up the conservatory so I can go on the exercise bike. Must go Waitrose just arrived as i write!!

can relate to that, although just walked the pooch along the sea front real feel -7c, and a very very cold wind, my wife suffers from Raynaud's phenomenon , reason we moved south, was far too cold for her, so i am coping most of the dog walking, but she did do Asda yesterday, said the store was remarkable empty shelves stacked high

Kj, glad to hear you now have an appointment.

Funny thing, as I started typing this OHs phone rang, we now have appointments for this afternoon

Will have to get cleaned up as we were painting in the bathroom.
Beautiful sunny day, -18c here last night and this morning. Roads all clear though so no problem there. Love it when its like this just wish we were still able to ski, not that we can go just now but its fantastic skiing when its a day like today.

Only minus 8.4 here last night. However, a lovely winters day with temps around freezing for our walk. Decided to go to Sherwood Pines, which is forestry commission. The message must be getting through about staying local as there was hardly anyone there. Previously it has been fairly busy. Everything must have really cooled down last night, as it felt a lot colder walking than yesterday, despite the days being similar. We passed the new CCC site which looked rather desolate in its covering of snow.

Good to hear other people are getting some pain the arm.

Lovely walk this morning but we needed to wrap up well as that wind was bitter. Funnily enough we only saw 2 people on our normal walk outside the village, no dog walkers or cyclists and only 2 cars passed us in 90 minutes so it really fell like a lockdown walk.
My saga with Scottish Power goes from bad to worse. I've now had to raise a complaint about how the original complaint has been handled! If it wasn't for the fact that the refund of an overpayment from the original supplier will be handled through S.P. I would have moved companies by now.

Oh dear WN, it doesn't sound like SP have got any better over the years. I used to look after the account we had with them at work, always had problems, we eventually moved to another company.
Your morning walk sounded lovely. It certainty doesn't feel like a lockdown here these days, so much traffic on the roads. Today we added to that but at least we were allowed to as we went into Perth for our jabs.
Arrived a bit early as roads were better than anticipated, though they are starting to freeze again. Very slick operation, all very safe with lots of wiping down of seats etc. I had a lovely young Dentist give me mine, she said there were lots of them in today.
We both got the pfizer jab, no card, no second appointment , no badge but you could have a nice chocolate sweetie, all info recorded on the computer system. A handout of leaflets telling you what you had and what to expect etc.
Sun now disappeared temp dropping like a stone.
Pork Kung Po in the slow cooker for tea, OH back doing a bit more painting. Should be final coat tomorrow then we can put the toilet back together
why does the whole house get upside down when you are decorating

Had a dull morning with a some rain overnight so washing delayed today and then the sun came out late morning, did a few chores around the house then whilst OH was installing a new computer monitor a bit bigger than the old one I decided another walk down the road with the sun out then found a small path that did not look to muddy so walked up that to find a group of badger setts had a listen at the biggest entrance and could hear snoring from down below there was a lot of tracks about and as there has been flooding in the adjacent field plenty of worms, so a good walk and away from the road.
Glad KJ you have your vaccine appointment now, we are hoping to get ours next month all February slots have gone.
When we were out shopping on Tuesday we saw 1 caravan and 2 smaller motorhomes and 1 of those was from Belgium with the bikes on the back and there are no campsites open around here at present.

I expect it does look a bit bleak just now Steve but I would imagine it's going to be a popular site? I think we'll give it a go when we can, nice that you have so many forest walks in your locality.
RedKite, to hear badgers snoring, that was fun! We have a fox around every night, OH often sees him on the evening dog walk, the fox just hangs about looking for food, doesn't seem worried about people.
Got our Waitrose delivery today, OH staggered round with the neighbour's order so we're all ok till the next time.
Have been clearing the kitchen table of debris, things we don't want but had stored in the boiler room just "in case" it worked brilliantly with me throwing the stuff out and asking OH if he really needed it. Only got a very large garage and shed to go...he has seen how it can be done!
(And we can sit at the table once more, nearly, just a few items left!)0 -
I am delighted 1) to hear that some of our Scottish Correspondents have appointments for their C19 vaccinations, but I hope they carry the proof of appointments when they travel !! I would be distraught should their journeys be halted and / or delayed by Occifers of the Constabulary querying the need to travel

.Delighted 2) - to hear that whilst still a touch chilly, somewhere is colder than Altnahara, well at least for one night if not for the rest of the season

Joking apart I hope you all are fit, well, vaccinated { or very near to that ! } and keeping occupied during the daylight hours
.Take Care, A B M { aka Grumpee }
