Most definitely worth it. I’m finding this lockdown tougher and more depressing than the first, probably because it’s winter, not being able to potter around in the garden at least. Still, at least we now have the prospect of improving weather and better times ahead 👍

Another wet miserable day here today but we needed to get out so took the day van a drive along the coast to Largs and got some fish and chips ate them over looking the sea that was crashing in over the prom. Quite busy up along there today even in this weather. Nice to get out and have a change of scenery. I agree Freddy we too are finding it much more difficult this time as you say it’s probably due to the time of year. Hoping things change for the better soon and we can all get out and about again we look forward to getting away in the caravan as soon as we can.

Pleased to hear that so many have had or are having their covid jabs but sorry to hear that some have had a bad reaction. We both had the Pfizer jab and had a couple of days of feeling tired and achy with a headache but nothing major.  Sorry to hear about your bad reaction WN and hope you are fully recovered. Glad to hear that your have your plumbing problems sorted Bakers2.

We are also finding this lock-down particularly hard.  I think it is the winter weather coupled with the fact that it has been going on for so long.  Better times coming though hopefully with spring on the horizon and the amazingly good vaccine roll out.

We have been out for walks most days this week, wrapped up in thermals, puffer coats, hats etc. The wind the past few days has been an absolute killer but it is good to get out. We have had some lovely long video calls with our sons and daughter but I am so looking forward to the day when we can see them properly again.

I have an exciting week this week - I have an appointment for an eye test.  What shall I wear?!

Like it C😂 We don’t bother with Valentine’s stuff, never have, but it’s nice that others do.
Not done much today. Walk this morning, then pottered around at home. Raining here as well, although forecast for tomorrow is good. No garden for me though, as it’s a Mum day tomorrow. But Tuesday is looking ok as well, so hopefully can make up some lost time. Forecast is to be very warm for time of year by next weekend. That will bring bulbs on.

K posted “I usually do not have any reaction to a vaccine, so was surprised, it sounds like more people are having a reaction to the AZ than the Pfizer one.”........Doctor who gave me my jab did say they were getting a bit more reported side effects with the AZ rather than the Pfizer.

Millie, you and me both.smile I think that we'll only converge in wearing a face mask though. I think I'm bettering you for excitement though as tomorrow we have a Click and Collect and a book to pick up from the library. Almost a full day, give or take the odd 8 hours or so.

Woken up to heavy rain. Raining when we went to bed. Rain forecast for everyday this week!

At least, however messy it ended up, the snow as bright to look at.

Slow start,  not inspired to do much - all week. Longing to just potter in the garden........

Those of you that have cause to visit the outside world, remember how to dress and conduct yourself amongst others 🤔😉. I'm planning an outfit for the vaccine clinic Wednesday, can't rush these things. I will not be like the Aerial advert where she has an interview and hasn't decided on the day 😱

Enjoy whatever your day holds for you

Hopefully it will be easier clothes wise for vaccines this week, you won't have to wear a hat, scarf and gloves!

A lovely Spring like morning here, so reasons to be cheerful.

Good luck with vaccine appointments. smile

Damp road walk this morning. Stopped at the bottom of a lock bridge as 2 women on the bridge, room to pass but littered as they were looking at the water. As they came down they said they'd been watching a kingfisher! Wished I'd gone on up I might have seen it 😢.

Sun came out after lunch for a while, OH changed the pipe between the waterbutts, as it was 10c too.

Have an unwelcome visitor(s) this morning, I saw a rat, then OH saw it went under our shed, I had an idea we might have them but no proof until today. Rat catcher, local authority, coming tomorrow. Up to 5 visits to get rid of them for a very good price, shown on their website, just over one visit from an independent company. I had trouble getting through so had got a quote from an independent company, £50 a visit, he reckoned 3 as we had a dog?!

We sure know how to live here. Got the heating guys back Wednesday as the Wifi thermostat dead. At least theres an override button on something in the airing cupboard so we have heat and hot water!

Much better day here today weather is better. It’s amazing how a little bit of better weather can make you feel better we had been a bit down over the weekend for no reason other than just fed up being stuck at home but the change of weather today brightened our mood a bit. Got a letter today from the hospital saying that my blood tests that I got done last month came back fine therefore my consultant wouldn’t need to phone me for our normal 4 monthly check up call strange that since the consultant called me two weeks ago went through the blood test results and said we were all good for another few months and he would send me a date for the next phone call. Do these departments on hospitals not communicate with each other luckily for me my results were good so no issues but what if someone had something to be concerned about and they get mixed up info from the hospitals it must be bad for elderly people. Anyway positive mood for today so won’t go on about it hehe

I had a better day today, got a lot more done and enjoyed the dog walk even though the mud is still everywhere. More dispruption in the village with fibre cable laying, another access road closed. The work men have only just finished for the night. It will be interesting to see what the "offers" are when we all get connected.

OH has just realised it is Pancake Day tomorrow. Not something I ever bother with, but he is up for it. Looking at savoury and sweet. Seafood is looking good for savoury. I have just suggested Nutella, raspberries and a dollop of clotted cream for sweet.........his brain has just exploded with delight🤣

All this came about because we have one egg left🤷‍♀️

We had a similar discussion in reverse, as I have 10 eggs that need using 😂.

I like the sound of you sweet ones - we have none of those ingredients. We do have some prawns, but running low on fresh and salad delivery Wednesday........

I reckon itll be omelette main course, possibly frittata when I've checked out vegetables.

Can't believe Lent starts Wednesday where did those weeks go? Or yes they passed whilst we waited 🤣

Quiet day today, just a couple of hours walking then cleaning up outside, now that Siberia has taken back its winds, after the mess the roofers have left, lunch, then clean the cooker and hobs, then click and collect and library pick ups, then cook dinner, then sort out some bank statements that haven't been done this year......at least the day passed quickly.

Typically my brother in France rang just after we had gone to collect delivery, promised to ring back at 6.30 our time but still waiting. If previous form is anything to go by he'll ring tomorrow morning when we are out and that will be it for a couple of months. He doesn't do emails, or accept phone calls from UK as it costs him too much but he has a special deal that allows him cheap outgoing calls. Well, that's what he tells me.smile

Yesterday was a grey but mainly dry day although still chilly but the wind was not as biting as on previous days. We had what we anticipate to be our last walk for a while up on the sports field while it was still hard before the rain turns it into a mud bath again.

Definitely a lot less cold today and the sun even managed to put in a short appearance this afternoon. I wore a thick coat this afternoon as it looked as if the wind was getting up, but had to take it off 3/4 of the way round as I was too warm. Wouldn't have dared to that 3 days ago, although there was the odd guy still walking round in shorts!surprised

That's a similar mindset to my family WN. When we moved here from London many years ago for some reason it was always much further for them to travel here to visit us than for us to travel there to see them. Consequently we visited them fairly frequently - sometimes just for the afternoon - whereas they very rarely visited us and if they did they had to stay overnight undecided, It used to infuriate my Dad.

Funnily enough Millie I've just come off the phone with him. Have to let him off though as he had a bad turn yesterday.

He's not in the best of health and his morphine intake catches up with him from time to time. Anyway I was informing him that the family document he was sending in the post last month hadn't arrived. I now find out it was because he forgot to post it!embarassed

Caught up with all of the French news. No lockdown just a curfew with most shops open and schools all open as well. At least in his part of Brittany. He did tell me that my niece has just had a bad bout of Covid, caught when she went into the office to pick some paperwork up from her boss, who had seen his Covid infected son the day before and he knew it. Apparently she has started work again this week but on reduced hours. Unfortunately my niece and I do not see eye to eye but I wouldn't wish her harm.

Got a bit wet in our walk this morning but nothing serious. Sun came out later on so some gardening done. Our weekly quick shop tonight. 15 minutes maximum.

It's been the usual sort out the food delivery day for me and the neighbours, not resolved yet, no doubt I'll get an emergency cabbage request...wink Waitrose had problems with their web site so I lost a whole lot of "ammendments" grrr.

Had to choose some new kitchen taps today, what a palaver and they are so expenive, our old ones leak and can't be repaired (the swan neck type of design.)

Took the dog out,  but the mud was really bad, she refuses to go through some of it, can't blame her as she's only a few inches above it. But it's definitely a lot milder and this might start to dry things out.

Pancakes tonight, nice and easy! 🍋

Glad you managed to speak to your brother WN, everything is so long distance at the moment, even for the relatives who live near to us, they could be on another planet!

Pancakes for us as well. We are lemon and sugar people.

Glad you managed to speak to your brother WN and sorry to hear that your niece has been unwell with covid. How selfish of her boss. It just shows how careful we all need to be.

We had an 'outing' today. OH had an audiology appt at our City Care Centre. I dropped him off as we thought parking would be a problem. It is on the same site as the Maternity Unit where I used to work. The Maternity Unit was demolished some years ago and the land sold off. After I dropped OH off I decided to have a drive around and see what was there now. It is full of expensive houses with very smart cars parked outside. It was very strange to see where I spent a large part of my working life so completely transformed.

Pancakes for us too. Lemon and sugar still the best here. Managed to use all our eggs too 😀

Snap milliehull always looking for new roads on street dog walk, today Dora and I walked through the estate that has been built on our old maternity and children's hospital, previously the workhouse and prior to that barracks for the army in case Napoleon invaded. Sadly several of  the listed building parts came down 😢 but one has been rather sympathetically rebuilt. Quite a mix of houses and some really big ones towards the rear of the site. Rather nice to look at, no garden and not a position I'd choose for what I expect they'd be £1m plus! one had, a Bentley, Porsche and Lotus sitting outside the garage, I presume you wouldn't want to hide them away 😉. House prices are just silly silly here!

Like you sad to think of all the lives that had passed thorough the site over the years, I was born there as were my children and our son in law, even though he's lived in NZ since he was 4. In fact if I could throw a stone well it might be able to reach the house his family lived in until they moved, about a mile away, small world. Daughter thought Christchurch Canterbury too far from home for uni 🤣🤣.

It's not always very comforting to re-visit places is it? I had a look on street view not long ago, a room I had as a student which looked over fields and farmland now looks out over a supermarket and car parks. I wish I hadn't looked!

Enjoyed our pancakes, always sugar and lemon! laughing

I remember being horrified when I passed my old Grammar school in Liverpool a few years ago.

Turned into "Bijou Apartments". Only if you were Dracula, I thought, although might have suited a few of our teachers!laughing I could have understood it if it had been turned a MS Club and I don't mean Marks and Spencer!
