I decided to wear the new jumper that our daughter gave me for my birthday recently

Millie, I don't think the Optician that saw me today would have cared less if I had turned up in swimming trunks as long as I had a Mask on.

    (I didn't but I did, if you see what I mean)wink

I deliberately didn’t mention what had prompted the call out, it’s a very distressing incident, as you say they are indeed heroes, and that’s hopefully where the focus will stay. We have friends who used to do Cave Rescues, such people have my utter respect, putting themselves in dangerous situations to assist others. I hope that whatever is raised helps him cope and still have an enjoyable life, along with his family.

The last I heard Ttda more than £500,000 has been raised. By the sound of it he will need it.

On a lighter note I had a text today from Scottish Power, some 5 days after making a complaint about the way my complaint had been handled.

It said that they had found a resolution and I should read the email dated 19.02.21 and to let them know my thoughts. So I'll have to wait for a further day or two to find out what it is. Couldn't get any better could it?undecidedfoot-in-mouthlaughing

Moulesy, so sorry to hear your sad news.

Better day here, nice and dry still windy but nowhere near as cold as in the past few weeks. Snow all gone here and rivers running wild, with more still to come down from the north as it melts up there.

Went for a nice walk this afternoon, took a different route and discovered a whole new walk ☺ only lived here 31 years 😂😂

Got a bit of a headache so having an early night.

So sad to read of your father's death, M, although glad that he passed away peacefully. We send you both our condolences. It must be very tough for you with his death following on so soon after you brother's. Our thoughts are with you both.

There's been lots about the incident on the local news, tda. What a great job the mountain rescue teams do such a shame that one of their members should have such horrible injuries because of the butter selfishness of two campers from off.

I had the "pleasure" of meeting the Langdale guys when they transported me on a stretcher off the fells following a slip and breaking my ankle when descending from Fairfield many years ago. My one regret was that it was too misty for the chopper to come out and bring me off.

I’m sorry to hear this, you’ve had a tough couple of months. Yes, 94 was a good age, but I remember when my dad died, aged 83, folks used to say “he had a decent innings”, but I found it didn’t give me much consolation, it still hit me hard. My sincere condolences.

    when descending from Fairfield

Was that heading down towards Rydal Mount? I was fine for most of the walk, but that last stretch down into Rydal Mount really impacted on my knees, very steep. They haven’t been the same since.

Well, the Prada Cup didn't happen. Apparently they have had some Covid cases in Auckland so everything is on hold at the moment. The authorities there seem to keep a far tighter rein on things than we do, hence the disparity in our respective figures.

I watched the final of Celebrity Home Cook last night, I think I've watched nearly every episode and quite enjoyed it, a bit whacky on occasions but a good diversion in the present circumstances. I hope Ed Balls doesn't become the next Delia but his cooking was probably better than his dancing. wink

The Great Pottery Throw Down (Ch4) is a treat for me. Usually watch it on catch up. I might look in on that interior design challenge that is on somewhere....

The ladies found great entertainment in watching The Masked Singer. Not often Mrs WN disappears into MiL's living room to watch something on the gogglebox but not my type of thing.

Blustery day here today but fine for a walk this morning. "April" type showers since lunchtime. Not a great deal happening today so I think I'll be trying to balance the books. Seem to have been leaking money since the start of the year. Just renewed my car insurance today, Mrs WNs need doing before end of month as does tax and we've had the roofer in this month following on from new windows last month. Might start a Go Fund Me page somewhere. Any givers out there?

WN, I think there are a few of us in the same leaky boat 😂😂

We have April type weather here as well, nice bright and sunny one minute rain showers the next.

Still feeling a bit washed out today so taking it easy.

Some of you may remember I mentioned we had seen a family of otters playing/fishing in the river Tay in the heart of the city, while out for a walk.

Well it would appear that its not just otters that are on that stretch of water. There are beavers there to.

A report in the papers say that there is very strong evidence of beaver dams, tree damage and slides. A study group have been following them for a while, it mentioned the officer in charge of the study I used to work with her at Scottish Natural Heritage.

Very experienced person, she will be delighted with her find. Seemingly they are wild beavers not introduced ones and the only ones to be found in a city environment in the UK. ☺

    Rain showers again 😕

Yes, he comes across as a thoroughly nice ‘sort’. It takes a lot of b###s to put himself forward as a former politician. A breath of fresh air.

Hail storms here, on time for the Waitrose delivery which arrives at the bottom of our drive way and this week I thought I'd forego the plastic bags...OH not best pleased trying to repack everything in the hail and wind before staggering back to the house. embarassed

New taps installed in the kitchen, progress, one last bit to go and then the dreaded floor decision.

Had a long chat with my sister which was nice.

Discovered our old staple gun won't work on the chair I'm re-upholstering so will need a much stronger one, I had psyched myself up to do it as well!

Interesting to hear about the wildlife in the Tay TammyG, I didn't know that the beavers were originally escapees (quick read up about them.)

We are similar WN money seems to have been flying out our house the last while. Last year I spent almost £3k on various maintenance and repair jobs on the Volvo which is a lot but still cheaper than buying a newer car and to be fair it’s been a good car and has a good service history etc it’s just that at 11 years old a lot of things needing doing to it at the same time but hoping that’s everything sorted for a while.

Just a ?? For you fellow CTrs we are looking at getting one of the new Cadac Carri Chef 2 we have an original one but it’s getting bit worn out so looking at getting a new one has anyone got one of the newer ones and if so are they much better or different than the originals our current one is around 10 years old

He is quite a clever fellow as well. A First at Oxford, he then went on to Harvard in America, he also taught there for a while. He has a stutter which meant that he wasn't always allowed a fair hearing in the House of Commons, disgraceful at times. Once he was rejected as a future leader of his Party that must be quite a blow and you do wonder, had he not lost his seat in the next election whether we would have carried on. He certainly seems comfortable in his own skin now and has turned his hand to a whole range in both Light Entertainment and some more serious TV stuff. Perhaps he did everything the wrong way round, maybe television first politics second!!!!

We had our normal Thursday Waitrose delivery today, nothing unusual in that. But 10 minutes after our delivery I noticed another Waitrose van in the front Close, fifty metres from my house. Strange thing was that it was a different driver so it was obviously two different vans!!! No idea how things are organised but it does seem a bit odd to have two deliveries on different vans to almost the same address, within minutes of each other?

Ed Balls, like Michael Portillo before him, comes across as a much more likeable person since leaving politics behind.

Shame that the same can't be said of Anne Widdecombe! wink

AS the afternoon turned out reasonably bright and mild , I ventured up on the roof of the MH and drew the first two of three rectangles for the solar panels, giving the designated areas a cursory rub down with 600 grade W&D to provide a good key for the Sikaflex when I fit them. Only a couple of brief possible weather windows although the winds look like they could be problematic. MH goes for the MOT next Thursday so it looks like further progress may be delayed.

We did that but did Low Pike then High Pike first. Actually I really didn't like that part of the horseshoe, it was too rough and exposed in places for my taste (getting on). I did the 'inner path' to the left of the wall (as you go up) I think others have said the other side of the wall is better?

After High Pike it was a really enjoyable walk

Strong winds and rain, so not much to do outside. I watched the new ch5 How to Garden with Carole Klein last night, at least that raised some hopes of getting outside soon! Nice to see her in her own garden doing her own thing.

Now waiting for upholstery tacks to arrive for old chair project, given up on expensive staple guns for a one off job!

May the mud be with you! wink

I am going to give the MH a good sort out inside today. Probably in between rain showers, but it will be dry and warm inside. Daren't even take it out for a run at the moment, too much jumping to wrong conclusions likely. We usually take it to vets for pooch’s quarterly check up, going out to Sheffield via Strines for a bit of a run, but not going to risk getting stopped. Monday’s information, if we actually get any, will determine if it gets “sorned” again. But just footling around in there raises the spirits😁
