🥶 Not quite as cold here, but going to plummet tonight here as well. Very icy outside. Don’t forget to put a bit of water out for birds folks, it really helps them. We are stocking our feeders up like mad.

We have  had snow on and off all day, but not a lot.  Roads are clear, so no problem going shopping.  Got all we needed, and more, no empty shelves in Lidl.

The new baby is doing well, putting on weight, but little Callum is not so great, today, and overnight, he has had a persistent high temperature and is lethargic, so DD organised a Covid test for him, his second one, poor boy, results tomorrow.

It is 10 days since he was at nursery, and since then has been mainly necessarily  with us, when DD was in hospital, but also with his Granny, who has a large family, who are not known for observing the rules.

We are fine, and so are they, but DD is worried of course.

Son and OH each had an overnight sleep test, son's went fine OH couldn't sleep with the monitor probe on....Result I got very little sleep! Ventilation nurse phoned this morning one of his colleagues would pick up the monitor as he couldn't get away from his home due to the snow! His colleague borrowed a 4x4 from her partner!

There has been in the region of a foot of the white stuff!

    Worrying like billy-oh is taking place chez A B M  tonight !!

Heard  a weather report from Altnahara last night   Minus 16.7 Centigrade !!  Will It ever thaw at my very fave campsite ??  Will the midges forgive us for Global Warming  ??  Will Wee Burnie Ban skating on f-f-frozen lochs ?

At least my aged Sister is coping mightily under great pressure from her cat who ( which undecided ? ) will be distraught to discover that the Cleaning Squad is due in tomorrow  ~~ Legally so  ~~ but will insist on scouring the area where his food resides. Food never tastes the same from a sterilised area does it wink

Take Care, Stay Safe, stay posting  laughing

OH BLIMEY  -- Just seen BBC T.V. Weather forecast -- nothing surprising there Except The Lady doing the Forecasting looked a shade non-BBC !  Very Tidy Hair ( freshly Trimmed ?? )  and dressed very nicely in Denim  surprised Very surprised -- could that have been Louise Lear  ??  Think I must hang on till 11.25ish for a rerun  sealed

Sorry ABM Brian I do like Tomaz's hair much better than all this shaved up the sides of the head.

No snow here just rain and very strong gust of wind last night for about 5 minutes and the sat dish wobbled so pretty patterns on the tv, still damp and much colder this morning.

Robsail I do hope you had a better night last night? Not surprised your wife  found it difficult my OH had one. They decided sleep apnea tried that equipment - worse, so returned very quickly.

No more or very little snow overnight here, still -1.5 in our sheltered spot! Muddy places back again as the temperature rose slightly and our paved areas thawed too. Can't believe passing drivers it's cold outside, our road has been gritted but residential lots of parked vehicles etc 20 mph area, but they are flying down the road. Have heard of a couple of walls being taken out on Monday, drivers just taking off again before folk could get out their door 😡🤬.

KjellNN I hope you've already got hold of someone at you GP practice and are getting sorted.......

ABM my husband couldnt believe Tomaz hair, we both refer to the very carefully sculpted and coffiered forecaster with a jokey name

Very bright here, long may it last, but I'm not going to look at glass 😱.

    Stay safe and warm folks

Best of luck to those who have the white stuff and don't want it.

Robsail, I remember that I was supposed to have an overnight stay in the main hospital for them to monitor my sleep during the night. I don't sleep very well sometimes. I think they may have forgotten as it was 26 years ago and I'm still waiting to hear from them, but hey, I understand they have other things going on.smile

Actually another poor night last night myself. I can go out like a light, sleep through a thunderstorm, even in the caravan, for the first 3-4 hours then it's a battle once I've woken up.

Roofer here later on to finish the job and we have to pick up Mrs WN's car this morning after its service. Other than that the day is ours. A very light covering of snow. Hope the sun burns it off otherwise it might be slippy. We'll leave a walk until this afternoon.

    Take care folks.

I'm not so sure on Tomaz hair 😉

Redkite will you be included in the cold high? I'm trying to picture the area it covered - looked jolly big 😱.

We've not had the winds that those nearer the coast have have, huge snowdrifts and round the click road clearing in some places watching BBC East last evening. 8 foot heaps at the roadside and some naughty folk from London caused Causter lifeboat to be launched in 20 foot waves. They have been issued with a fine! The went for a walk on the beach....

Morning Bakers, it happened on our main road a little while ago. A guy drove straight into a wall off the main road. Got out and walked away. Passing cyclist saw incident and called police who picked driver up trying to walk the 1 mile home. Brought him back to car, breathylsed him. Yep, over the limit. Guy swore blind it wasn't him but cyclist ID'd him and car was registered to him. Said it was stolen. Why do people continue to lie when it's so obvious? Drink I suppose.

Wherenext these drivers drove off, it was an appeal for doorbell/CCTV type footage don't think they've had any success.

Good result for your local one, hopefully a driving ban too when it comes to caught. I can't type what I think about drink/drug driving or folks refusal to take responsibility for themselves...

I woke very early to nab a Waitrose slot, no-one around on CT. I expect you were all nice and cosy in your beds...sorry to hear of sleepless nights especially at this time of the year when it's dark and cold.

OH had a bit of a re-action to his Covid jab, hot and achey etc. but he's taken the dog out so I guess the paracetamol has helped.

Really beautiful morning here, the ground is nicely frozen so walking is easier.

Now waiting for neighbour to phone in the delivery order for this week so can add it to ours...I will be on the laptop for quite some time! wink

The sunflower seeds are going down at a rate of knots here. There have often been 20 to 30 finches, tits etc  here in the old cherry tree where the feeders hang. Peanuts are not favoured as much at present. The seed feeder last a day. 4 filled last thig and about a quarter left in one feeder by 5pm at night ready for refilling.

Our visiting group of 4 magpies are certainly enjoying the suet balls. They take turns. 3 under the feeder and one knocking hell out of the suet balls for the others to pick up and then his replacement takes over.

about midday we have a few crows  tearing up the grass looking for buried peanuts from the squirrel that has an open feeder in neighbours garden.

Good news on little Callum, his Covid test was negative, and he is much improved this morning, DD is very relieved.

OH took over the ringing our GP and actually got to speak to a real person, though we are still no further forward.

Apparently there may be 3 problems, not enough vaccine, too many elderly patients, and unexpected change of plan from what they had expected.

They had expected to be doing the 80+ only, and they have 600+ of them alone, then the 75-80s were added to their workload.  Until they have done all the 80+ they will not be sent vaccine for the 75-80s, so it is all progressing very slowly.  If I have not heard from them by Monday, I should ring them again.

She was also told that the venue is not the surgery, but the local town hall, same as when we had our flu vaccinations.  This however makes the delay less understandable as the venue is spacious and they were well organised and speedy when we went there, so it is sounding more like a problem with not enough staff to do the vaccinations fast enough, plus possibly lack of vaccine.

OH then asked if I could go to the local mass vaccination centre instead, and was told that I should ring back about that first thing tomorrow  " as she had used up all her phone calls for today "

Does that make sense to anyone?  Sounded like she just wanted to get OH off the phone as quickly as possible!

Hi Bakers2 No snow forecast or extreme cold but a chilly spell and next week looks a bit drier hopefully.

Perhaps Tomaz should have a trim.

Saw on local Somerset news that folk had been fined re Corvid regulations as they were climbing in Cheddar Gorge and their mate had to ring emergency services as they got stuck, mad or what and were not local either.

The sun has just come out here hooray.

As to vaccine apparently a friend said yesterday that there will be no vaccine in the Lot until end of this month.

Better nights sleep for me! OH had an initial sleep study about  35 years ago, stuck a load of sensors on her head, it was at the old ERI just down from the castle at the time of the Last night of the Festival, So lots of fireworks, told that she couldn't move not even for a necessary visit, as the nurse shut the door switching off the light she was wished a good nights sleep!

The sleep tests that OH and son are annual ones as they have apnoea due to their underlying condition.

Another 4 inches of snow overnight, so car been dug out and a path cleared to the front door so that the postie can deliver my blue envelope some hope!

Back from dentist😁 All fine, glad to say. Dental issues, and not being able to have them sorted were my lockdown nightmare, so all the brushing, flossing, rinsing (and repeat) has thankfully paid off. Sounds like some folks have had a nightmare though. OH can finally get his missing filling sorted as well. Good news for next six months😁

Good news takethedogalong our dentist, Denplan, has been great throughout. We've both our 3 monthly checks right through. We are now able to have proper modern cleaning having had to have probe and ping once 😱😱. The practice has NHS patients who did have delays. They now have the new air changing system hes a workaholic and very on the ball been with him since he qualified 32 years ago! NHS for lots of years but went completely private about 15 years ago.

Caught something on radio4 day and time?? But I think this week where NHS dentists working but have quotas so only doing 'easy' things one poor woman had infection and abcess and needs root canal work but been told she can only have it done privately, over £1,000. That's not funny and my heart went out to her. Also lots of dentists didn't have the necessary number of air changes needed so despite working lots of hours capacity was limited. I believe not reaching target quota meant no money!

Just had a text to book my jab, I only qualified last Friday! Phoned GP to book, close until 1330 😉. KjellNN I hope you get sorted soon, sounds like falling between the cracks and organisation/supply/staff logistics. Does help you and others in the same position..........

Gloriously sunny, no wind, slight thaw - lulling us into a false sense of security for the rest of the week......

Brue I seriously hope you don't get the hospital video! Our pavements, outside our house and our patio all clear so I removed ice grips BIG mistake!, lethal in places especially a narrow alley we use, was able to reach the fences either side as we walked down, even Dora sliding! Some ice rinks would have been pleased with the surface.... too far to go home to put them in but wint make that mistake again, I'll wear them and remove if necessary. Makes a nice change from mud mud mud.

Sorry to hear you are still struggling to get your Vax's KJ, this seems to be one of the problems that occur when the UK decided that each piece could { try to } organise it's own system .  It makes me very angry that an invisible line on a map should mean that Jock, Taffy, Mick and yours truly should be in different arrangements in this way, yell.

Calming down before lunch now __  hope all other medical / dental problems are well under control now especially for Little Callum and TtDA  -- too nice a day here for such things!!

Bright blue sky with some fluffy clouds ( are they clouds or just super-giant snowflakes ??  ) cold but not too cold yet !  Saw that Altnahara had dropped to Minus 17 last night -- wonder if there is an Ice-cream factory planned there wink

Now back to the Hair Bear  Bunch innocent --  I was not being critical with respect to Tomas S and his hair cut { mine is a darned sight worse, believe me  !! }. It was just the fact that I saw the lady forecaster while I was on line, so wearing the reading glasses and could not see the telebox clearly cos its a bit too far away. So by the time I'd swapped to 'distance' she was disappearing and when I saw the later forecaster it was Tomas, so I was a tad grumpy perhaps ~~ but should you wish to see a " Well Coiffured " weather person try young Owain on BBC North West  --  even the buttonhole appears to have been carefully trimmed !!innocent

We had a fair amount of snow fall again last night so have spent the morning, again, clearing paths and cars of snow. I even went round the garden knocking off deep snow from bushes as they were getting bent down with the weight.

Still no heard anything about an appointment, no post today so far, conditions are not great though so that's to be expected. Vaccination centres all open in Tayside so that's good. No shortage of vaccine at these places. In Perth they are using Pfizer. Just waiting for a call, don't want to miss it so no walk today 😂

Just having a little flurry of snow, first today. Sun keeps popping its head out but still heavy snow clouds up there.

ABM, yes saw on the weather that Altnaharra was the coldest place at -17c going to get colder tonight.

OH just put the first coat of emulsion on the newly plastered walls ☺

I can't get motivated just now I know I need to do some housework but hey who's going to see it.

Why cant you just get engage signal immediately? Not funny for those who dont have inclusive calls! And playing on here. So not getting my full attention 😱 not dusting but using fluffy end on the vac, I'd be ashamed of the duster colour! Like you Tammygirl who's going to see it?

Just renewed, or at least submitted, the application for Margaret's medical driving licence. Quite a palaver if you want to do it online for the first time as you have to confirm identity first via an app on your mobile. Anyone would think that we wanted access to the Crown Jewels!!! Surprisingly the process did work and we got into the system which from then on was quite straightforward. There has surely got to be some advantage to the DVLA  for people to complete online so why they make it so complicated I don't know?
