What a lovely day it's been. Having woken up without my usual bounce we decided to take it easier today so armed with just a bottle of water and phone we wandered down to the quiet village of Llanystumdwy, about a mile away, to pay a visit to the grave site of David Lloyd George, which was rather fetching in it's simplicity.
We then noticed a board marking a short 5 km circular walk taking us out to the estuary. As the sun was shining we decided to pootle down and around and back home for lunch of Blackstick Blue cheese, crackers and a glass of warm Corbieres.
Afternoon spent lazily before taking the awning down, packing the car and sticking the prepared chilli in the oven for dinner.
Home tomorrow. Really enjoyed our 4 night stay here. Glad we decided to come.

Goldie, we've used Cooks meals before and enjoyed them. However since my wheat aversion developed I find the majority of my previous choices off limits now. Still buy the odd Lamb Tagine now and again and I think I can have one of their curries. They have their own shop in Harrogate that we call into when over there.
Hope you have a relaxing break at NEB.

2 very warm days up here, very good BBQ at DD's yesterday with DS and family too.....and the big reveal....it is official now.....a boy! 18th February. 12 week scan tomorrow.
So we are now trying to plan a 4 week trip, leaving here 20/09, DD and Callum will come with us for the first 4 nights. Finding sites with space is quite difficult it seems.
We were over at DS's house this morning to help him remove their old WM and fit new stop valves, New WM arriving tomorrow.
Then to DD for lunch and to measure up for a "loft" ladder and loft flooring in her garage for more storage.
Home before 3, then a couple of hours laying some anti slip strips at the guide hall.......worn out now! Will continue tomorrow, weather permitting.

Brian, wish you'd warned me of the detour around your town, it must have added nearly 6 mls to my trip from Holmes Chapel to Welshpool. Still we did get round without a good up, which I reckon was good for a Saturday. BTW was there a Traction Engine meet at Whitchurch this weekend, as I thought I spotted lots of classic vehicles on what I took to be the exhibition field, as we drive by.
Much duller and cooler day here, so had another, longer walk along the canal today. The sun came out around 5:00 so managed to spend a while sat outside again.

OH POOPLES !!
So sorry Nell That Blooming bridgeworks { only six months to go
} is only on the Middlewich to Nantwich A530 just south of Leighton Hospital. But the Diversion is the very long way round ~~ most of it is totally unnecessary . A50 / A534 Holmes Chapel to Sandbach
A534 Sandbach to Crewe
A534 Crewe to Nantwich { built up area thro' the old part of Crewe past the rly Station but ok for HGVs etc so should be good for c/vans tho 30mph !!! }
A49 Nantwich to Whitchurch
A495 Whitchurch to Oswestry
A483 Oswestry to Welshpool
With apologies

P.S.
No traction engines that I was aware of but Cars, motorbikes etcetera are, like the 20/30 year olds, a law unto themselves I suppose.
I'm still fretting about the loss of The Great Dorset Steam Fair over the upcoming Bank Holiday -- I doubt if I will ever make it again -- too many years of age now to go stumping round 600 acres of farm land -- Ask Goldie !!

Yes, we are hoping to go there, but do not want to book it yet as there are still a few uncertainties around the trip.
DD needs a new roof on part of the house and is waiting to hear when the builders can fit her in, so it may yet all have to be cancelled.
Meantime we have booked Craigie Gardens, which we can cancel if necessary.0 -
"Interesting"start to the day, out with Rosa came across a combine in a field but the tractor towing the cutter had took the corner into the field to tight and was blocking the road as it had gone into a ditch and was jammed against a gate post, how many does it take to lift it out,
it was about twenty of us
Rosa was quite happy watching from the tractor ,with the driver
Very hot last night again, and without the breeze,

Brrrrrrr where is all this hot weather you lot keep on about, its flipping chilly here just now.
Went out this morning to take MH in for a tow bar to be fitted, then onto the shops to pick up a few bits and bobs.
New number plate required for my little car so we can tow the little trailer for skip runs. OH fitted the tow bar to the car yesterday. Quite simple and easy to do, didn't even have to remove the bumper. Wish the MH was as easy to do.
Back home and the house seems to be very chilly if this keeps up might have to put the heating on for awhile. Feels more like March than August.
WN glad you had a good break, can't wait till we go away again. Kids back to school up here tomorrow, so hoping to get away mid weeks come next week, can't do it this week to many appointments in the diary.

Cheers TG. Enjoy the peace and solitude when it arrives. BTW, when is half term in Scotland as we will, hopefully, be heading that way in September?
Raves? - Send the Army in.
. Mind you I see from the news that we're not the only place suffering from unrest with regs. There were beach fights between police and youngsters in Belgium. The police were trying to enforce their regs and the youngsters just wanted to have "fun".Back home after an easy drive along the A55. Washing already taking place. Too hot (sorry TG) to clean the car or caravan. Neither are especially dirty but could do with a sponge over.

depends where about in Scotland you are thinking of for October hols. Here in Perth and Kinross its from the 3rd to 21st I think our schools have the longest break.
Where are you thinking of going? If our French trip doesn't come off we will have to sort something out at short notice, that could be fun.
Its been very quiet today guess Mums have them all indoors getting stuff ready for going back tomorrow. Our Gkids come up sometime in the next week as they are due to go back to boarding school on the 18th, I think their parents will be lost without them and possibly slightly relieved

Yay, to day we received our new TV
3rd time lucky and it wasn't broken. Now sat in place all set up and working fine.0 -
No! I think we have a summer time 2020 problem down here. The police said they couldn't cope with the 3000 crowd who turned up near Bath recently...the sound travelled ten miles away. Stiil don't know where last night's was...I bet everyone in our village is hoping tonight will be more restful. I feel quite grumpy...grrrrr. 👿

Probably be early to mid September. Somewhere just south of Stirling as there are places we want to go above and below the Forth. Have a scan tomorrow that could put paid to any plans we have but you have to make plans, especially now we've decided to forego the foreign trip this year. Mrs WN wants to use the tunnel next year wherever we head. Bit awkward for a round trip of Wales mind you.😁

HaHa, its the tunnel we are booked onto in September, silly me booked it through the club instead of direct, so if France is off then I'm hoping for a voucher. If I'd have gone direct I could have just changed the dates
oh well you live and learn.Hope the scan goes well for you, fingers crossed.

Hope you get to do whatever you think is best for you and OH TG.
There were too many crosses in the "Reasons not to go" column for us and I'm glad we booked direct with BF. They were brilliant and understood our reasons. Returns were paid within a week. So we'll heed your advice and book direct for the tunnel.

Yes we had booked direct with BF for April this year, now changed to April next year, used a 'friends' code and bought a flexi ticket no issues at all with BF.
We are watching the French situation closely, if its not on the naughty step I think we will go and just be careful of the areas we choose to spend time in. If we are sensible then it shouldn't be any worse than where we were last week

Brian we went A54 to Middlewich, A530 to Crewe, should have been through to Nantwich and into A534, but because of the detour we got onto the A500 to Nantwich then A530 onto A525 to Whitchurch and around to the A495 etc. You weren't to know we were going that way so no need for apologise.
Fine start to the day, warmed up through the afternoon and now we have heavy rain showers, thunder and lightning. Went up to Powis Castle and had a very pleasant wander round the gardens. Social Distancing was rigorously observed, more than could be said for when we went into Aldi on the way back to the van, and very few wearing masks in the store either. Guess that they aren't mandatory in shops in Wales.
Good to hear that you got home safe and sound, WN, and before the thunder storms pass through too.

Cheers Nellie. Only a small 5 minute thunderstorm, not much rain.
You're right, masks are not mandatory in shops in Wales but are on public transport. Wish they were mandatory though.
We were thinking of catching the train from Criccieth to Porthmadog the other day to start our walk back. It's the next stop along on a small branch line. Owners of CL told us not to as 2 guests had tried it the week before only for the guard to refuse them entry as they weren't key workers and journey not considered essential. There was no-one on the train at all. Just 2 empty carriages. You could though catch a bus! Some regs are plain non sensisical.

Here in Scotland it is mandatory to wear a face covering in shops and public transport even the staff wear them.
While in Yorkshire last week we noticed that while the shoppers were wearing face coverings the staff were not is it not right that they should also be wearing them ?
When we went to the indoor market in Barnsley the security guy on the door checking everyone entering had a mask on, wasn't wearing one himself. He did however have a sign on his back saying " please observe the 2m social distancing rule" we later saw him with his arm around a shoppers shoulders, We didn't stay long in the town.
I do wish all the governments would sort the rules out and do the same thing.

After a three week tour of Rutland, Yorkshire and Derbyshire Dales, we returned home one to trek back up to the West Midlands last week to change the Marquis Majestic for a Carthago 138. Trying to get to grips with the systems on the new one. I've got a couple of toggle switches on the dash that I suspect are to do with the alarm system but not documented in the "instructions". Have to do something about a spare wheel as well. A box of goo and a pump makes me nervous.
