Brings back happy memories, even the time we got to the top, stopped to pour a cuppa from the flask only to find it had broken. Fortunately the dog gave us her water!

Day of going to the tip, then packing the caravan, and trying to sort out a midway stopover for our September trip, which eventually was successful. This evening spent trying to agree an itenerary for the second half of the trip. Still no further forward on that except we know where we won't be going, so progress in a manner.

Millie, the new jamjar sounds like a bargain. Low mileage. We were lucky like that last year. 11,000 on a 3 year old model. MoT tomorrow (car not me).smile

Should you wish to return I can thoroughly recommend Messuage Fm  CL. Great dog walk, 1.7ml circuit, all on hard track and off road. The local pub has just reopened, and is 0.5mls away along another hard off road path.

A good day out for us too. After an early shower the day was warm but not too hot until the sun came out in the late afternoon. Visited Biddulph Grange Gardens, NT, for a socially distanced wander round. Booked on line, easy access with sanitizing station at the entrance, one way system in operation. Then picnic lunch beside the car park before heading off to ascend The Cloud from Timbersbrook. Great views from the top as the air was so clear. The area was quite busy but everyone stuck to the distancing rules. Called in at Aldi on the way back to the site for essentials, masks to the fore.

I've just had a look at the website and I was able to access establishments with more than one place. There's a link and then all of the establishments names are listed alphabetically. I had a look at one of our favourite ones and that chain has over a dozen pubs.

Also saw more than one Mcds listed within a 5 mile radius so how do they manage?

There are several restaurant chains with more than one branch in our area that are part of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme i think every McD's in the area (several 🙄) are mentioned. So there must be a way to do it. I am not sure we are tempted though.

I think "chains" may be treated differently to individual landlords though. Apparently Mark's accountant had spent 45 minutes on the phone with "whoever" trying to get the second place listed but with no success. frown

A very wet day even for the Lakes. Still no bother as we were all still recovering from yesterday. Went to. Grasmere and a visit the famous gingerbread shop. The shop people as always had their old world clothing on but it just looked odd with the full face visors.

Non alcoholic drinks should be included.

Had to smile yesterday - they gave me the bill and said "you were a maths teacher, you work it out!"  What a bargain that was! laughing

Terrible weather here today, heavy rain all day, cold too, had the heating on for a couple of hours.

Anti slip strips and glue for guide hall deck arrived today, much quicker than than stated, so that will keep me occupied for a while......when the rain stops.

Tomorrow we are looking after Callum, then on Saturday we are invited to a BBQ at DD's house

Car in for MoT and service. Took it to a dealer in New Brighton and had a walk down the pedestrianised walkway alongside the Mersey to Salcombe Ferry terminal whilst they did the job. Overcast but warm and dry. Lots of people out and about but plenty of room to keep our distance. No problems with service or MoT.

Nice ice cream on the prom.🍦🍦

Get that you're pleased that the car's passed it MOT, hope mine's the same next month.

After a bit of light rain this morning the rest of the day was fine although rather dull. Went up to Alderley Edge for a couple of walks. It's been a long time since we've called there, and thankfully it wasn't very busy.

Quiet day on here I see. Obviously everyone too busy to be surfing.

A day of packing, avoiding the heavy showers, more packing and then trying to find somewhere to stay where we want to be in mid September. Other members have a nerve wanting to go away at the same time as me.laughing

Had an appointment letter through from the hospital for a follow up from last years scans, so am off to hospital next Tuesday evening. Can't say I'm too happy with having to go to the local Wrexham hospital as it's been in the local news as being very lax with testing procedures for Covid. Staff that have been on covid wards now being sent back to their normal wards but without testing unless they have symptoms. Not a very good strategy.

Wherenext , that's a very worrying stat regarding your local hospital. It sounds as if your LHA  subscribe to the " Shutting the stable door , when the horse has well and truly bolted " .Best wishes for next Tuesday .

We’ve taken a deep breath and are planning to go away next week. Having had two nights down our fields back in April, the caravan is supposed to be ready to go. Not so. We have two gas bottles in the front locker, so no running out? No. Over the past year they have been purloined for agricultural purposes . When we had our mini break, we used a large gas bottle off the bird scarer. Propane it seems is as hard to find as toilet rolls back in March. Yesterday I rang every supplier in a ten mile radius and was mightily relieved to find the last 6kg one at a small independent garage. Not allowed to reserve so my husband shot off at speed.

Last year driving home from our holiday we came into closish contact with a tree that had blown down. Several miles farther on we realised we had lost a towing mirror. Never mind, months to get a replacement . did we? Of course not! Thank goodness for Amazon - same model arrived overnight today.

The only worry is Scotland. But Aberdeen is a long way from New England Bay, isn’t it?

Another wet day in the lakes but didn't damper down our enjoyment one bit. Went into Windermere and had a good walk around.

Weather is set to improve from tomorrow.

Thanks. No faith in our LHA and neither has the Welsh Government having had to put it into special measures but as they won't come to my house to do the scan I'm going to have to chance it. Mind you the appointment is after 7 p.m. and there are no visitors allowed at the moment so am hoping that those in the X Ray dept weren't the ones seconded. In and out asap.

Yes it is...hope you have a good time! Go go go! smile

WN hope all goes ok for your scan, can understand you being wary, I'm not exactly looking forward to an eye test next week..OH goes first on Friday and he should have been checked a while ago due to ongoing problems. Hope the hospital will be quiet and empty in the evening for you.

On another note, I'm wondering how long my teeth will survive whist I pay up for Denplan and add to their holiday funds?!

A wet day but some help in the garden and OH out fishing. Recovering from visiting dog up all night because he wanted to go out...(foxes, badgers, hedgehogs, far more interesting than a cosy night's kip!!)

Trying to work out how to use a lunch out voucher given to us by eldest daughter. The restaurant (in Dorset) has opened, but meals to be taken outside so must choose a warm dry day and line up other daughter for dog sitting.

We had rain over night but it looks as if we've been fortune with the weather today. Drove down to Mow Cop and then had a walk along some of the Gritstone Way, past the Old Man of Mow. We could see the rain showers passing through that were affecting you WM. Then a gentle walk along the Macclesfield Canal on the way back to the van.

Enjoy your break away at NEB, Goldie, I'm sure that you both deserve the break.

Just hoping that no more restrictions are put in place in Scotland before we head that way towards the end of September.

We must be quite lucky at the moment weather wise. Warm, overcast and breezy here most of day. Few spots of rain for about ten minutes but didn’t stop me gardening. I am still out side, on our swing and at Hong the stars. Exp feting it to be in high 20’s, low 30’s next couple of days. We have a couple of family members coming over Friday for a garden based visit. They have been shielding, so be good to see them.
I am on phone tonight, so will catch up with others tomorrow. Night all!🦇🦇🦇

Just looking at places for a garden visit, have missed the "book before 3pm previous day" thingy with NT so might head off for Minterne Gardens in Dorset, they didn't open their garden loos at first but now they're back in action and they're doing take out food and drinks too. So think that might be ok for a visit and not a huge entance fee either. smile

Looks like it's warming up but still damp and misty.

We had an 'interesting' day yesterday.  OH went off for his morning of volunteer gardening at the cathedral.  Halfway through the morning I got a phone call telling me that he had had a 'funny turn' and they were going to call an ambulance.  I drove over there straight away and luckily managed to see him in the ambulance before they took him off to hospital.  I wasn't, of course, allowed to go with him and wouldn't have been allowed in the hospital so was advised to go home and ring in about 2 - 3 hours.  I duly phoned and was told that he was still waiting for his tests to be evaluated by the medical team ring back in about 2 hours.  I was just about to ring again when i heard his key in the lock. He had been discharged and decided to come home on the bussurprised. Mixed emotions there as I was VERY cross that he hadn't waited for me to pick him up but also so relieved to have him home.  Apparently the the dosage of BP pills that he had been prescribed was far too high. Some silly woman doctor at the hospital had said she wanted his top number to be below 130 so to take 2 tablets per day.  OH kept saying that when he checked his BP it was very low and was told that it would only be a problem when he passed out surprised It was a very stressful day, especially as I couldn't see or contact OH. Not made any better by the fact that he still had his car keys in his pocket so I couldn't arrange to get his car home. But I have to say that the staff at the Cathedral were all marvellous - so helpful and supportive.

Best of luck with your hospital appointment next week WN.  Hopefully now that their lack of care has been highlighted they will have changed their procedures.

I hope you have a lovely trip away Goldie.

Weather here very grey and cloudy and exceedingly humid.

Sounds like a worrying day Millie not made any easier by the restrictions we are all living with at the moment. Glad Mr H is now ok best wishes. Similar thing happened to us a few years ago while away in the van I took a funny turn and collapsed in the middle of the night had to get an ambulance to the site discharged a couple of hours later not a nice experience and it took SWMBO a while to feel comfortable in the van again when we were away.

Yes I know exactly how your wife feels Francis. We are not due to go away for another month so hopefully I will feel a bit more settled about things then. We do pay the extra care (I think it is called) so that Mayday will send someone to tow us home if OH is incapacitated as I don't tow.  In fact I hardly ever drive the tow car - it is to big for me!

Last day of our wee trip to Yorkshire. Didn't get the sat dish fittedfrown long story but wasn't confidant that it would be done to our satisfaction. Managed to collect the Taylor made screen covers. Haven't seen son and his family yet but they are coming to us at teatime for a bbq.

Not much evidence of anyone taking covid serious down here will be glad to get back home. Out yesterday all day and hardly saw a face mask. We are right on the edge of the Kirklees boundary you would think they would be more observant.

Weather just starting to clear and getting warmer.

    Millie

Hope other half is OK now. Trouble with BP is that high is invisible  until something happens but low is often more obvious. A couple of years ago Margaret passed out in the van and was taken to Abergavenny and the conclusion it was low blood pressure. A few years before when she had her bypass op the hospital gave her more tablets which may have contributed but may have also been useful in ways unseen? I have been taking BP tablets for years now and the only time they have changed was when I was first given them. I think the doctor wanted to judge my tolerance to them before increasing to what they are now. Seems they are doing their job!!!

Penistone, Stockbridge area TG? We have been out that way twice in last three weeks, and frankly been appalled at lack of social distancing. Mainly families and big groups we saw, and not ethnic minorities either, so no laying the blame at their door.

Our weather has been glorious here today, very warm at around 26c, bit of cloud, more sunshine. I was out with Mum and Sister today, and we decided to have a proper day out, so booked timed tickets online to visit Brodsworth Hall Gardens. We arrived on the dot at 2pm, quickly scanned in, then had a very nice picnic and wander around the lovely gardens. It’s the best August visit I have ever done here. Numbers controlled, one way system round gardens, outside eateries open, but house and indoor tearoom still closed. Everyone behaving impeccably. Wouldn’t hesitate to go again. Couldn’t resist a rather lovely day lily from the shop🌼

A worrying day for you Millie, glad things turned out ok. 👍

The younger members went kayaking on Windermere this morning while the oldies had breakfast looking at them in a lakeside cafe.

This afternoon we all went up Loughrigg, a bit misty on the top then back via Rydal cave. The second pic is taken inside looking out.

Thanks for all the replies btw. I do see them but holidaying is a full time job.

What a day Millie. Glad all's well that ends well but I know I would have received a rocket for coming home on the bus. Judging by others comments it seems a regular problem. I've had similar and still get a bit dizzy when standing up after bending, like today when pegging out the awning.

An easy drive to our CL on the Welsh coast near Criccieth. Even the A55 behaved itself. Off on the bikes to Caernarvon tomorrow. CL extremely acceptable.
