The weather here has been good all day and the many lime trees are in blossom, which is really heady when its as warm as today
Walked into town today as its OHs birthday and our anniversary end of this week so needed some cards ,
Could not believe the long queue for access to John Lewis, several staff trying to manage
The queues also for all the banks were quite long ,it is still a new experiance for most it seems ,and the good weather helps ,but when the weather turns and the problems still remain ,will it still be "social queues?,

It's been a miserable day here, dull, wet, windy at times, and quite chilly, even had to put my sweater on.
Having more or less completed "Operation Lightbulb", with them all sorted, listed and boxed up, we now have to decide which to keep, and what to do with the ones we do not plan to keep.
At least we now have a couple of empty cupboards to put them in.
Meantime we have been trying to get order in the 100s of plastic carrier bags we found in the same cupboard. We have sorted out a few bags of them to keep for use as bin liners, some sturdy ones to be "bags for life", and the rest to be recycled. Just need to find somewhere to take them to, possibly Tesco if their recycling bin is in use.
DD has invited us down for another garden meeting, they have even bought a large gazebo for the garden to keep off the rain, or hopefully the sun. Looks like Wednesday may be a good day to visit. She has holidays to use up before the end of June, so this week was only working today.
School holidays here start on Thursday, so SIL will be full time child minder after that, and DD will be able to work full time.
Need to arrange a visit to our son and family now we are allowed to use their toilet!

yep lovely hot and sunny down this way, any rain came overnight, the grass in the back garden has shot up about 12", need to get the mower out at some point.
Had a phone call to say grandson has come off his motorbike and broken both wrists
. he now has both arms in plaster and can't do anything and I mean anything for himself, he is in good spirits though and asked me to help source all the parts to rebuilds his motorcycle! I think sometimes I am to generous.Did some more work on the sliding gate project after moving the MH I dug out and cut down the remains of the previous steel gate posts, which wasn't as easy as it sounds as they were set in concrete. then dug out and laid the paving slabs to cover the bigger gap (3m) these will provide a smoother run for the gates. I've got one more area to dig out and lay another slab, after it has been cut to size, before starting work on support posts.
Also received a phone call from one of my bosses saying to return to work next week, I have looked at the guidance and the risk assessment and can't see how we can, I am now waiting for some medical advice so I can load my guns with the most up to date information, I hope the bosses won't take offence when I say …...NO chance!

Don't let your Grandson skive like that, rajohno !!
Last Friday I saw the Monte Don Gardening programme which had on the lady gardener who was born with very short arms and she proved " Where There Is A Will There Is A Way " and she did it in Spades

The weather was lovely today, if a bit windy, which was bad for the amount of pollen in the air. We booked a parking space at Clumber Park for the afternoon. Lately we have just parked on Limetree Avenue and gone for a walk. However, we thought we would have a look around the kitchen garden so booked our spot. This year due to covid restricting the number of gardeners and no volunteers it is only a shade of its normal glory, so we didn't stop long and went for a walk along the lake side. Just as well we didn't want the toilet, there were extensive queues and it wasn't that busy. I dread to think what it is like at the weekend.

Yes that lady certainly was an inspiration, I posted about her on the gardening page. Not only did she garden and adapt whatever was to hand to suit her needs but she is a sports therapist as well and massages with her feet.
Rajohno best wishes to your grandson for his recovery, he'll be in need of some help in some departments 😉😂 let's hope he can adapt and use his hands very swiftly, or do they have a bidet??
Lovely morning here again. Still busy and a topsy turvy garden, another coat of sealant required for the block paving, not so easy to get hold of. They'll be back tomorrow as cant get until later this afternoon. Felt sorry for them yesterday, took them much longer than they anticipated as our blocks sucked up the resin like blotting paper. They weren't coated, wasn't offered, when they were laid. This apparent should last 5-10 years and stop the seeds sprouting PHEW!
Busy day yesterday with all that going on, we went to sort more at mums, Dora had a playdate with her sugar daddy dog friend and his owner as she's at a loose end, so we could be more productive!
Today I've got my check up at the dentist, it will be interesting, I've had niggles and sensitivity since lock down. This afternoon Dora and I are off puppy training class, in a field with 4 others and the trainer - again lots of rules to follow re social distancing - should be fun!
Tomorrow there's the block paving and Dora to the vet plus returning 27 plus pots, the guys have said they'll help put the heavy ones back 😀. They shifted the really heavy 5 big pots at the front and returned them. Thursday I have a collection and delivery of flowers and cards to my godmother aunt for their 60th wedding anniversary.
After all these quiet weeks I'm struggling to keep up!
Right must get a wriggle on. Stay safe and enjoy your day folks

One way to ensure that timber is non-slip is to mix some "silver sand" into the paint/varnish. A nugget from my old timber boat owning days.

Another horrible wet uninspiring day.
OH busy in the attic as he can't work outside and the Men's shed isn't open yet, they are all itching to get back to using it but working out how they are going to do so safely.
I've got more sewing to do and housework but lack the enthusiasm.
Haven't been successful so far in getting a CL where we want in Northumberland for the dates we wanted but will keep trying. I've got a couple booked for when we open up in Scotland, need to think ahead for August now for a get away place. Still holding out for going to France in September if the FOC lift the ban on non essential travel.

A contrast here TammyG, it's very hot.Taking my time doing some work around the house, dog walk earlier, OH river fishing till lunch time. Farm shop and other deliveries expected today.
Hope the grandson makes a good recovery RJ, quite a task sorting him out each day!
I caught up with the Gardeners World programne last night, as mentioned, a lady with a very positive attitude.
Took a photo of a lovely Magnolia flower just opened in our garden this morning, a lemony ginger scent filling the air. 🌼

We used to do that on the sides of swimming pools as well. As you say works a treat😁

Feel like celebrating - just been listening to Boris giving his speech on the relaxation of the lockdown. Yippee - we're off to our favourite CS near Malton on 4th July. Toilet block won't be open - so no tents - just 5 vans in 2 acres of peace and tranquility. Can't wait for a change of scenery

Lovely Magnolia
start of the 'heat wave' today it was already heating up from sunrise.
We seem to have an influx of different species of birds, the twitchers are out in force, unfortunately for them the birds are remaining in neighbours gardens (which is unusual here) a few of the photographers have been shouted at for trespassing! No idea what birds they are but If I see a nice one I will try to get a picture
.Luckily for me, Grandson is 200 miles away so is being taken care of by mum, thanks for all your good wishes. Last time we saw them was Christmas, next time will be in August (fingers crossed) when we have a site booked nearby.
I received the medical report this morning, along with the risk assessment, after which there was an interesting conversation with the bosses. the result is, I won't be starting back at work next week, which is unfortunate for the young engineers waiting to start their practical application training but I believe the right thing to happen at the moment. I said to them a while back that Sept would probably be the right time to start up again, looks like they should of listened instead of making false promises.
Otherwise after the efforts of yesterday I am having a rest, although the watertight plug has just turned up for the submersible pump to fill the MH fresh water from a large container, so will get on with wiring.
enjoy your day all

Sites opening? OK for some, but we've no time for holidaying!
Mowing again for silage today - a few fields we didn't do with the main 1st cut. So I'm baking cakes that transport easily without crumbling. First up a Marble Cake (chocolate and plain sponge, (but it seems to be a bit darker brown on top than it should be. The Aga is on fire today.)
I was planning on Gingerbread but Treacle seems to be always out of stock if I get an Asda order. Why?
Then I'll have to have a bit of a tidy up - at leas the parts of the room that the webcam picks up for my husbands Zoom meeting tonight. I sit in a corner with my Kindle - out of sight, but listening out for any scandal or gossip.

Great news about the sites opening we have only been away 2 nights in the van since November and have had a very stressful 8 months or so due to a few health issues but now looking forward to our month king summer break we will just be careful but will be nice to just relax in a new environment sitting outside the van with a beer and a BBQ

Our day is going well. Next to no one here in a little Nature Reserve car park. We had lunch, now pooch and I have found some shade for a sit down. We are walking Alkborough Flats, watching the Marsh Harriers. It’s red hot, but thankfully a slight breeze. We are going to have dinner back in MH later, then take a scenic route back home. Only seen five people since we pulled in, it’s a gorgeous quiet little area this.
Sounds like folks will be able to get away in a couple of weeks. Fingers crossed it all goes well. 🤞

Jealous Ttda? Moi? Of course I am.
Nice place to relax. We actually had a bit of mizzle on the walk first thing this morning but it didn't last long and the afternoon has seen glorious sunshine. A bit of gardening before the sun took hold.
Mrs WN still acclimatising MiL to town. Tuesday afternoons has always been quiet time for the town so the pair of them ventured in as a prescription needed dropping off. MiL made contact with the Opticians from a distance and found out her appointment hadn't been forgotten and actually went into the chemist by herself to get a few things. Mrs WN then took her into a quiet Tesco for a few bits and pieces. MiL seemed less agitated this time so we'll keep at it until she can have a trial run on her own, with us still here a s back-up.
I don't think some people realise how stressful it is for some of the people in the "vulnerable" category to try to get back into a new normal.

Glad you had a good day at Alkborough. Pity the cafe at College Farm was closed!
We had similar weather to WN with a dull morning but bright and warm this afternoon. The engineer came to service out Hot water boiler first thing this morning, and he found a bit of corrosion on one of the copper pipes, so that needs replacing. His firm phoned back at lunchtime and they will be sending someone round on Friday afternoon to do the job, so good service from them. Just hope that it's all covered by the contract.

We have had a lovely day, back home safe now. We saw a total of 10 persons altogether once we had parked up, and some of those were just leaving as we pulled in. MH behaved beautifully. It was so nice just to get out there and not worry about a loo, a meal, somewhere to keep cool, have a chill, read a book. A thoroughly nice relaxing day. CL was looking good, if sadly empty.
Need to think of somewhere similar for next week now, far from the crazy crowds....😁
Its going to be so different WN for elderlies, a lot to get used to and remember. I am hoping Mum and Sis will come down to our house tomorrow, just for a sit in garden. Weather looks set fair for next few days.

I thought the treacle mines were in Dunchideock
?0 -
No, they are in Tadley. I once built a racing dinghy that I named "Treacleminer"

Moulsey if you're reading this I've written 3 replies on your talking head post. None appear 😱.
Can you remind me channel days etc, I saw it advertised and have forgotten! I love them I have some on my iPod as an audible book, Thora Hird included.

Not long finished mowing the lawn at the back. Too hot to do the front.
Mrs WN and MiL gone for a stroll. Hope they're back soon as washing machine about to finish. I'll put everything on the line but not necessarily in the right place, to paraphrase Eric.
Enjoy your day folks whatever you are up to but remember that sun cream.

Dull but hot day here today. Scotgov statement have just given further info regarding lockdown easing. Looks like we are now almost exactly aligned with England 5 mile guidance for travel being lifted on 3rd July and pubs hairdressers etc to open at the beginning of July. So barring any issues our main holiday is on for July. Good news and good to see that progress is being made.
