We watched contractors making haylage this morning, four massive trailers and what I would call a custom made forage harvester.

A fantastic day, left the house at 6.30 in glorious wall to wall sunshine, just the way I like to start a ride out or even a walk out. Went over the water to look round the marina and quays at North Shields, then up to Whitley bay back over the ferry and down the coast. The NT kiosk was open at Marsden bay and it was lovey to sit with a three scoops ice cream tub and drink, just perfect. Back at 12 and been sitting out with a glass or two since.

It was 19C when I went out and while there was a breeze along the river but it was just warm air. About 28C up here in the chilly north.

35.5c here according to our weather station! Too hot to sit out in sun. There’s no breeze at all, so everything is roasting🥵

East facing Bedroom in south Cheshire  ==  windows open but blinds drawn at 17:11  and its 80.7 Fahrenheit / 27+ Centigrade --  promising to be a night for reading I think, might be a tad warm for sleeping

Had a walk into town again today  ,John lewis staff still trying to manage queues, they did say some people were not happy having to queue, and that Jonh Lewis will still be maintaining 2mtr spacing to try to keep cusomers safe.

Just noticed a headline that since the lockdown has been relaxed by Boris   ,there has been a massive increase in bookings for "staycations" in all types of accommodation  most have been for Devon Cornwall an Lake District surprised

So could be true why CT has been so slowundecided

2020 was going to be a very busy year - several on farm events, hosting various groups interested in our environmental work. Plus our son was judging at a couple of shows All cancelled now.. And then a big cleanup for a Charity Barbecue, as my husband is President of the Westmorland Agricultural Society. We got as far as discussing which charity to support, when we called it off. It was to have been on our Golden Wedding day (25th July), so we were making it a combined affair with family and friends coming as well. We had already given up ideas of going away for a holiday.

No big cleanup to do now, but somehow there's very few gaps on the calendar.

So it might just be an odd night down the fields.

Very warm over here too, but I did manage to get a proper hill walk, although did cheat a bit. We parked on Kiln Bank and then I walked up onto Stickle Pike, while OH skirted it, then onto Tarn Crag  and Great Stickle. Thankfully there was some light breeze as OH wouldn't have made it otherwise, her not been a person whole like the heat, or vice versa. We saw 5 other people during the whole time we were up on the hills. Then we stopped off at Sandside on the way to give Flyte a refreshing dip in the sea. 'twas very quiet tonight at the shops.

The shops are suffering from a change in message. They have probably spent thousands on 2 metre signage which will be out of date in a few days!!!  Our JL opens tomorrow, not that I am joining any queue or going near.

Just treated myself to a little Bluetooth speaker, it's only 4 inches high. It connects to my phone so I can play music or listen to the radio. When I work up enthusiasm to use our exercise bike (not nearly enough!!!) I find wearing earpieces uncomfortable and you only have to turn your head and one pulls out.

Its been a nice sunny warm day here not hot like some of you have.

Had to take a drive out to Scone to see SIL this afternoon, she feel down the last 3 steps on her stairs yesterday teatime and ended up in the hospital A&E. Foot x rayed she has broken a bone at the side of her foot, same one my OH broke years ago. All black and blue, swollen but thankfully not to painful, she now has a 'boot' on it.

While out there I had a look at a couple of small cars, the Kuga has been sold, coming to collect at the weekend. Think I might go with a Kia Picanto, its not new but in very good condition. I had a Picanto for 10 years previously, good little town run around. It's being reserved for me, told the salesperson until the money is in the bank for the Kuga I won't be finalising the deal but he is happy to keep it for me. smile

Did all the housework this morning, right through, windows, bathroom the lot, felt good to get it all done.

Off shopping tomorrow morning, only buying for the 2 households as my sister had an Asda delivery yesterday so doesn't need anything, she says most things on the orders are now arriving so the shops must be getting back to normal.

Going to be a warm night and a hotter day tomorrow folks so take care out there.

Heading for 30C already, hot in the shade so we're inside in the warm...wink

Lawn mowing will have to wait, I was going to pick a few cherries, the leaves are wilting on the tree. The birds pick the cherries, have a bite and then drop them on the ground so I'm trying to get there first! 🍒

Very very warm here today too. It’s a bit too warm to work in the garden so we are just sitting won’t be doing much today. Been invited down to my sisters later for a BBQ so that will be nice

Very warm here too, 31 in the deep shade, slight rustle in the trees just starting. Walked puppy soon after 6am warm then too.

Puppy ok this morning, last vaccination yesterday, very off afterwards, I even called up the vet at 10pm just to check - declined to take her at that time as they sort of confirmed what I thought, reaction and heat. She was panting and drinking a lot. Slept with her last night to be sure. Woke fine. Now lying under my chair in the shade.

Collected and delivered 60th wedding anniversary flowers and cards this morning. Nice to have a chat in their garden, not as spritely as they were 60 years ago. Come to that neither am I 🤣🤣. Neither she nor I would fit in our dresses, we both still have them. Our daughter was the right age and size for one of the anniversary's and wore my bridesmaid dress at the celebration. I no longer had the daisy headdress but did her a daisy chain for her hair.

On my return I washed down the 5 BIG pots out the front, which the guys moved out and back - almost to their right places 😉, just need a strong man to assist on tweaking, where they had been splashed with dirt and sand, shows much on black pots. Luckily in the shade, I'm off to check if they're good enough in a mo, but if they're not they'll have to wait until tomorrow morning for another attempt. Was an entertaining sight - rubber gloves, bucket and scrubbing brush 🤣. I also moved the pots and containers from the grass  onto the block paving the bulk are on the on the stepping stones, gosh how it damaged the grass in days! Just about 15 pots and a bench to go once it cools, maybe not for several days...

Taking it easy now in the shade before heading in to prepare sandwich lunch.

Nice to read folks news and that we all seem to be getting some decent weather 🌞.

Unfortunately like most Apple products they seem grossly overpriced! My little speaker is a JL own brand and cost £35 and seems to work very well with my Samsung A50. And it comes with a carabina, for what reason I am unsure as I won't be climbing any mountainssmile

Hope you gave the pooch some water too.smile

Up and out early for our fresh food shop. In and out of Tesco by 7.40 and back home in time for a cuppa then a walk before deciding to cut back a Holly bush that is encroaching on my Rosemary bush so left the shower until after I had finished. The Holly didn't give itself up easily. Trying to get it to go a bit further the other way to close off a gap in the hedge which leads to a wood.

Not intending to do too much this afternoon. Might force myself to have an ice cream🍦

Mrs WN has to take MiL down for her eye appointment later this afternoon so they'll swelter.

Nice to hear that we all seem to be getting the nice weather although apparently it is to change here just in time for the weekend with thunderstorms :( don’t know if anyone else has noticed but it seems like every club site is just about fully booked for the whole of July luckily we are booked but it would appear that every site is going to be at capacity. We were thinking of changing our plans slightly but the CLs I have contacted seem to be full too. Glad we aren’t going away on opening day as I reckon it will be carnage.

Tallng about this reminded me that yesterday, sitting inside I asked Alexa to play the sound of water. It turned out to be a sleeping aid, so first I heard the sound of runnng water and rain. All good I thought. Next came the crackle and burning sounds of a campfire, it was so realistic I had to switch it off, sweltering would be the only description! laughing

Normally I would agree 100%. I’m currently replacing all my Apple products with Android👍🏻. The air pods are the exception-small, light, great fit & a sweet sound so I’ll just keep these until I find better for similar costs.

unfortunately not WN they do have availability for nearer the end of July but not the dates we were looking for as we have already arranged to meet my sister and her family at a site near Blackpool the week that we could have got on to the CL. We do plan to visit it at some point though it does look really nice.
