I've been kept awake by a nagging question that hasn't quite surfaced until just now. So this is for Brue.

Did you ever manage to get the Custard Creams for your neighbour? (Hated the things personally so I think they're getting their own back)

Second Question, this time for Oneputt.

Who won the Sand Castle building Competition? Did Grandad do the decent thing and let one of the Twins win or was he a Meanie?

You can probably tell that not a lot happened in the Wherenext household today although I did have a long telephone conversation with some friends and that was all she wrote.

Happy birthday and good wishes for anniversaries  to all those who are having/had them. Have a great day all. I will certainly raise a glass tonight in your honour.

We have had a lovely afternoon meeting up with friends. Nice and warm and sunny in garden, outdoor lunch, walked their big garden and paddocks, pooch had a grand old run around. Spent all afternoon just nattering away, watching the wildlife, first time we have seen each other properly since January. We usually meet up once a month for a meal, but obviously not at the moment. Really raised the spirits, so nice to do something slightly more normal😁

Could be a mixed day weatherwise tomorrow. Hopefully rain will be over by breakfast time, and not back until teatime🤞

Actually took this last week but have just found a then picture to complement it.

It is Tynemouth lido opened on 1925 and closed in the 1990s. It is in the process of getting money together to restore it to its former glory.

It seems to be the current trend to restore lidos. The ones at Penzance and Plymouth have been refurbed in recent years.

You've probably seen the Plymouth lido with a steel band in the foreground as one of those fillers between programs on BBC.

Wow, very interesting. I hope they get it sorted Corners. There are some fabulous old lidos up and down the country, we have used a few. Penzance one is very nice. Will keep an eye on news updates on that one. North Berwick used to have a nice one, but sadly, like many others it’s just a car park now. The old Spa Pool North Bay Scarborough used to be fantastic, huge waterslides, we used to do an annual trip from work for a good day out. It’s derelict now, nothing left sadly.

There's a decent one on the Prom in Llandudno, just on the edge of town towards the Little Orme. Quite popular in Summer, well normally.

There is a Lido in Street, everyone heads for Clarks Village but just over the road the Lido is a very popular local venue (in better times.)

WN Custard Creams mystery. They are now available but we gave up the quest due to not really being available. We're now on the trail of chocolate digestives...elusive or what and don't mention the "pointy" cabbages!! laughing

Our delivery man got lost today, roadworks apparently, so our delivery arrived at 5pm, the neighbours are usually in their nightclothes by then but we got it sorted...

By the way, OH is watching the snooker, what has happened to Neil Robertson's hair...!? 👱‍♂️

Well summer has returned today and I took full advantage, left the house at 7 in warm sunshine and was having coffee and a bacon buttee before nine at Roker, then up the coast to South Shields where I entered a blue box...

Guess the song title for the second pic anyone?

It was a draw between the twins, I came last and the judges decision was final

As a child we had a couple of lovely holidays in Rhyl (awful now compared to back then😢) It had a fabulous outdoor pool, a roller skating rink, a cycling rink, and amazing botanical gardens. All gone now sadly. I think the little railway is still there, puffing around a lake. Dartmoor is a good place for outdoor pools, the ones at Chagford and Moretonhampstead are lovely. Helmsley has an outdoor pool, and for any Summer visitors to Castleton area, have a look at the outdoor pool in Hathersage👍

Yes I hope so too. Found these strange things on my travels today and just about to start finding out what they were.

PS not the white spider building behind in the second pic which is the Stadium of Light. In living memory I'm told tens of thousands of people used to gather there for some lost in the mist of time reason. And get this, often with 6 millimetres or less between them, strange or what?

    Congratulations on the anniversary, Tda.

They were trying to do up the Lido at Grange over Sands  the last time we were through but not sure how far they've progressed with it.

Brue we have always been able to get chocolate digestives  at Aldi.

Don't know what we've done to deserve it but it was another fine day today. Spotted some Sand Martins on our morning walk, and guess they must be nesting in the old quarry beyond the playing fields. Went for another bike ride this afternoon and discovered more lanes that we've never ventured down before. Pleased to spot a Greenfinch while out, as they are not a bird I see very often round here. Heavy rain forecast for over night, but hopefully it will be gone by the time we get up and out.

It’s very interesting, well worth a visit. We stopped off heading back South on a Hadrians Wall tour a few years ago. My predictive text took over, its Arbeia, nor Arboria👍

Glad you still enjoying exploring Nellie. We are hoping to get out on bikes together next week if we can. And hopefully get a day out in MH as well to get things rotating again. She’s all packed ready to roll. Can’t combine the two as pooch too heavy to tow on back of bike😂

Plenty chocolate digestives in Lidl too, both milk and plain.  Custard creams too.

Not a bad day here, quite sunny, and very warm.

Having finished phase one of my tidying, today we embarked on "operation light bulb", rounding up all the old incandescent  light bulbs we have accumulated due to switching over to LEDs in many of our fittings over the last few years, and the spare ones we have had for years.  These were all piled up in one of our big walk in cupboards, so we have collected them all up into  boxes and bags and taken them through to my tidy room to sort them out tomorrow......its a mess in there now!   ☹️

So, the question is, what do we do with perfectly good light bulbs?   OH used Google and found that  they are still being sold on Amazon, E bay, and other places, for £1-£2 each.  I thought the sale of them had been banned?

    Biscuits.

Ourselves and our vulnerable neighbours are sticking with the Waitrose deliveries just now. In fact I'm sadly wondering if the neighbours will make it to town in future, it's all getting too much for them. Anyway, they like certain biscuits and Waitrose keep changing the ball park on line. We're all agreed Waitrose essential are perfectly ok but sometimes they are available, sometimes it's mcvities only, sometimes large, sometimes small. Such are the vagaries of the small things of life at present.wink

Sun and showers here, might see daughter and partner in the garden later, last time it rained on us too. 🏝

Strange that we were in Ravenglass last year at the other end. We enjoyed lots of walks around there and seeing the Roman Bath House, near the C&CC site. We'd both like to go back. smile

Strange that undecided The only things I definitely buy from Waitrose are the biscuits and the small jars of spiced pickled onions to go with my Fish & chips,  the onions that is , not the biscuits. Every two months or so I'm off up the Haslington by-pass to Sandbach to stock up.

As for Light bulbs I recall a stall in Chester indoor market selling light bulbs, only light bulbs with even more light bulbs in the back !!  Certainly he was doing a good trade and not hiding his light under a bushel wink

Today we’re researching and measuring. The decking in the back garden is looking tired and even though I stain it every year, I think we’re loosing the battle. The decision is, do we replace like for like or consider the composite decking. Although more expensive it’ll be a lot less work (for me!). Luckily the base is still solid and in good condition so it’ll mean just changing the decking boards.

Our village hall has composite decking around part of the outside and it's stood up well to wear and tear and looks good too. I was dog walking round there the other day, the school are setting up inside. Like many places schools will be using local buildings to extend their teaching spaces.

A Father’s Day treat - a drive out in the car. Well, a treat for my husband  who was missing driving the car. Not such a treat for me as I have become more liable to be car sick as I get older. I usually take travel pills two hours before, but this was sprung  on me so I risked it. About 60 miles of deserted roads, some we’ve never been on. Almost made it home (too much information to mention here).
