And a good morning to all our Club Members and our 'Visitors' as well  smile.

Raining gently in Gods Own County Palatine innocent and I hope it is doing no more than that wherever you may be. At least the repeated torrent of yesterday has cleared and it's not making an horrendous racket beating against the aluminium ladders any more !!  May you all get done those things you have to do today ~~  like checking the water butts, ensuring the fish have not escaped from their pools n ponds and walking all those pups for at least three  [ 3  ] good sniffs n scratches.

Take care, stay safe and enjoy this extended "Lock Down " if you possibly can !!winkcool

You and your OH would have been proud of me yesterday, while out cycling I actually helped a fellow cyclist! I notice that she was ahead but kept stopping and looking at her chain, I asked if I could help and it turned out that it kept coming off when changing to low gear and into the space between the cassette and spokes, luckily there was a plastic large cover there to stop any real damage or injury. I actually knew what was wrong and (obviously) the hi low limit screws were totally loose. Apparently she had just got the bike out of the garage after many years neglect  Couldn't see which screw was which but at least I told her how to stop it happening again by not going near that gear (and not using the high one) and she could get home.

I've been really impressed how fellow cyclists always ask me if I'm having problems when I'm stopped. Usually I'm taking photos or admiring the view but it's a nice friendly community. I've reciprocated like the above and offered my spare inner tube once but it was the wrong size (700 v 26 inch) and anyway he had already called his wife to rescue him (he already used up his own spare). Another time I stopped and they had ran out of battery, he had a spare one with him (wow) but he had forgotten his key to unlock it.

Well done Corners👏 It is a friendly community. My OH likes to go out on his own, doesn’t go out in a group or Club, but it’s not uncommon for another lone cyclist to pedal along for a while. He was out a few years ago and another cyclist caught up with him and they rolled along for a while chatting. After a while other cyclist decided to head off........at top speed, up one of our massive hills, not even out of puff. It was Russell Downing out on a TofB training ride.

....... but he had forgotten his key to unlock it.

We have done that, put the bikes on the towball carrier, drove to where we wanted to go and slotted in the batteries. Came back after our ride and had forgotten the keys to remove the batteries.

Drove gingerly home as we were now on the limit of the bike carrier weight, although I'm sure there is a safety margin built in.

This all reminds of my BIL who joined a cycling for oldies group in central Bristol, he met up with them and when he looked up they'd vanished in a puff of fast pedalling! He cycles on his own now and uses an electric bike. wink

Well done that man on a bike.

Chucking it down would be a polite way of weather reporting from about 9 am this morning. Looks like continuing through the day. Brown bin collection tomorrow so I managed to get all of the necessary work done during the week.

Managed to get out these last few days before the daily deluge but no chance today. However we were at Tescos for 7.30am. Mrs WN is a trojan. She hates 7.30am's. I've already told her she's a keeper.

    Take care everyone.

    There are two 7 o clocks in a day?🤔😂

I am guessing queuing for a new pair of Primark knickers isn’t going to float too many boats today. 😂

My shopping is sorted for this week - a delivery of fruit and vegetables yesterday, and two bottles of Gin today.

I suppose things will settle down into a new routine once the initial rush has gone. Supermarkets seem to be a lot better, but then I am only viewing from outside. We intend sticking with mainly online ordering, with the odd pop into a smaller shop for fresh milk, etc... I am enjoying the “what’s being delivered today” thing as well at the moment.

Pouring down here, so I have been up in bike cave riding around Lake District this lunch time. No idea where route was, but there was a Lake and a big hill, and I went through a very nice looking little town.............😁

Another sunny day here, not quite as warm as yesterday.
We never did get the thunderstorms that were forecast, so today I got the deck surface oiled, just have a couple of steps each side to do another day as I could not reach them today without trapping myself.

OH went over to Lidl for milk, and quite a few other things, and spotted they had bark chippings, so I was sent to buy 10 bags, and some ice cream.  Worn out now!

Another nice dry day here, mixture of sun and light clouds, it got a bit blowy at one stage but its settled down again now. Tomorrow I think we get some rain.

OH went out this morning after his video online chat with the other Men's shed members. My BIL needed his help as he had a dripping gutter. All now fixed now.

I stayed at home and made more masks, just about at the end of the orders smile probably get a few more requests as Nicola has now said masks HAVE to be worn on public transport. We are still being told no more than 5 mile from home, can't say anyone is taking any notice. Its alright saying that if you are a townie but we live in the countryside 7 miles to the outer ring of our nearest town and supermarket.

Our area of Scotland has not had any new cases for over a week now and folk are really not taking any notice of what is being advised. I've had words a few times when out in the supermarket, with folk not going the right way round and not keeping their distance but what can you do when its the STAFF that's doing it.

If we are still being kept to 5 miles come the beginning of the July I doubt we will have to cancel our booking at 'White Water Park' frown

Had plenty of heavy rain overnight, knew we would cos I watered everything thoroughly after moving pots for block paving cleaning. I emptied my waterbutts so they're nicely full now! I put herbs in a wheelbarrow and left them - 5am yes there's 2 of them I've rediscovered 😉, I'm removing them and emptying a wheelbarrow FULL of water!

Guys arrived about 0930, we were off to mums once they were settled. The pressure washer, was towed in and took up almost the same area as our car! Glad we cleared off out. Left them kettle milk tea, coffee, biscuits etc in the shed, declined they come fully supplied! So retrieved that before we headed off. Fabulous job, they were getting near finishing when we came back about 1530. They asked me to tell the neighbours it might be wise to move cars parked in the area as they would get messy, they were happy too.

Hopefully if it stays dry they'll be back tomorrow to resand. It looks almost like new now. They suggested sealing it a few days after resanding - it never was 14 years ago, but I'll give it a go this time.

It's a beautifully sunny evening but after vacuuming through mums and making it look a little tidier, cutting one hedge and making the path visible again, then arriving home and washing the windows, hosing done by the guys then me didn't shift the mucky bits, I took the car brush and cleaned all the downstairs windows including the conservatory then a stroll with Dora and cooking dinner I'm pooped!

More rain forecast but I'm hoping it'll miss us so my clean windows stay that way and the block paving can receive its next treatment.

Yes, I see town flooded again in Wales, awful for residents. First really bad day we have had today, but it’s a nice evening now, fingers crossed it will be dry tomorrow🤞

That little attic ride I did today, I was feeling a tad disappointed as I didn’t get to the end of the ride, was defeated by a rather large hill. OH, who set everything up for me, has just let slip it was Hardknott Pass😲 No wonder I was struggling, no electrics on attic bike to give me a boost, and I was on a brand new saddle! Ouch.

OH has done the rounds today, handed pet meds at the vets from arms distance in the doorway. Angling shop had screens and full gear, nice to queue in torrential rain for maggots!!? 🐠🐡

Good that the various mask making efforts have gone down well. I'm making do with a large plaid hankie (OH's and some PO bands, quite good as I have a trillion spares and the hankie is nice and soft, I picked out the best one...) I have a few surgical masks and OH sent off for some neoprene type ones, one whiff of those over my nose made me feel queasy.

I'm looking forward to the next broadcast tomorrow of Dead Ringers. Last week it was a "Corona Special." very funny.

Dry morning but a bit cooler so the walking was done without working up a sweat. Went for a short bike ride after lunch and although it was raining a little didn't get wet. However we've had 4 or so hours of steady rain since I got back, so the late afternoon walk was undertaken with a brolly. This has been the first proper downpour we've had in the 13 weeks or so of lockdown, so we've been very fortunate that way.

TG do you read any of Stuart MacBride's DI Logan McRae books, which are based around Aberdeen. It's just that in his latest "All that's Dead" some of the action takes place at and around Cruden Bay and Loudon Woods near Old Deer.

It’s been a dull but very warm couple of days here. The Volvo is at the specialists just now getting a new timing chain and a full service and they have picked up a few other jobs that need doing so my feeling is that the wallet will be getting a bit lighter shortly :( don’t think we will get it back until next week now. We are getting the work done on it now in anticipation of starting towing again and making the most of the rest of the season hopefully so as well getting it done now while we don’t really need it than waiting until something goes wrong and then we won’t be able to get away in the van. I see Wales have announced that hospitality can begin to re open from 6th July and good news for WN the 5 mile rule should be scrapped by then too. Seems like we are all now getting back in to step with each other :)

Rain here overnight, but not heavy.  The deck oil has survived, so must have been dry before the rain arrived.  Started dull this morning, but now some sun, although quite a bit of  cloud around.

Woke with a sore wrist after all the paint brush wielding, but slowly recovering.  Will have a day off outside work as some bits to do for OH indoors.

Trying to source some timber to make a toy storage unit for Callum, but there seems to be a serious shortage, and priority is being given to trade customers.

Had a nice early walk before any rain appeared, which waited until lunchtime. Yesterday was horrendous.

Good news that sites are opening here from 13th.July. Looks like sanitary blocks will have to stay closed but fine details to come out.

Yes Francis I'll be glad that when the 5 mile rule gets relaxed. Still respecting it though. Like many places in Scotland there can sometimes be quite a distance between towns or villages so 5 miles can quickly get eaten up.

Well done Mrs.Oneputt. Enjoy the trip as well.

Such good news that you can visit your Dad at long last Moulesy. It sounds as though a megaphone might be a good idea!

It looks as though you had a good day out with your MH brue.  I love that area. I spent many happy hours there on holiday as a child. Lovely memories.

I hope you got your paving finished OK Bakers2 and that the rain held off.

It was a case of 'be careful what you wish for' this week.  It rained solidly from lunchtime on Wednesday until lunchtime on Thursday - mostly bucketing it down in stair rods with thunder and lightening. The drains in our road were struggling to cope. All our water butts are now full. It's been a grey misley day today but the sun is starting to break through now. I have cleared a few more drawers and cleared out a storage box that used to be under our bed.  It is now empty and I don't know what to do with it! The Volunteer Co-ordinator from the Cathedral rang me the other day as the Cathedral is opening for private prayer on Monday.  Did I want to go back as a Welcomer?  We had a long chat and then I discussed it at length with OH.  Their arrangements sound very robust so I have said that I will go back on the 30th and see how things go.  I can't see that there will be many people anyway as it is not open for general visiting and they will only be allowed in the nave and no-where else.  The clergy will now be able to hold their online services from inside the Cathedral instead of their own houses.  I must admit though I have quite enjoyed having a virtual nosey round their homes!

As Sir Steve Redgrave might have said (but didn't), if anyone hears me say "we could do with a drop of rain" again, take me out and shoot me! surprised

We've had almost 48 continuous hours of the stuff and I've got so wet so many times I'm thinking of investing in some scuba gear. laughing

As I write, the fragrance of "wet dog" is wafting across the room competing with the bread that's baking - a truly odd combination. Forecast for tomorrow is not much better but at least Sunday is looking a bit more promising so the planned visit to see Dad is still on. smile
