Not our first car but we too had a Ford Prefect, and it's reg no. was UTU 863, that being only one of two that I remember from all that we had as a family and since I' ve been married. The other was a Mini that was OH's first car, before I learnt to drive, CEO 12D.
Happy birthday, Francis. Hope that it"s been a grand day and that the weather was as warm and as sunny as it has been down here.

Had to get a few things from the Aldi today so we went for a walk along the shore, for a change. It was a beautiful sunny warm day, but a bit hazy out to sea. Saw thousands of little waders and 2 huge flocks of them high in the sky. Lovely clear views on land as the tide came in.

Lovely views NTH.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes. The weather was lovely all day so had a nice relaxing day sitting out on the deck in the back garden. Sun just dipped away a while ago now back in the house for a night in front of the telly with some birthday beers and. SWMBO even has a bottle of wine.
many Thanks all

Bit of a mixed day weather wise, warm when the sun was out but we have had a few heavy showers.
Managed a good cycle this morning on the new bikes. Spotted a few hares out in the framers fields running about and on the journey back 4 deer out in a field. They spotted us but didn't run, just lifted their heads and watched as we cycled past.
Once home and after lunch we got stuck into more gardening, OH did his favourite job (not) he laid 4 paving slabs for me, only manged to break one this time
he really hates laying slabs.
I have now manged to dig everything out of the big bed all but the Buddleia (that's staying). I want to redo the bed, change its shape and raise one end of it to make it level. OH is going to do the wood work then I will replant it and put in a water feature.
No street parties here or any celebrations last night as it tipped it down with rain.
Nice bunting Millie.

VE day was a bit muted in our road, as quite a few who live here are our age group, so are inside, the cul de sac i walk through, had a "street party" a singer with 40s music,on our next walk at 1700 i had my" hand me down" wardens tin helmet on , which allowed me access to advise them that they did NOT have to "Put That Light Out" later on

I was intending to put up a string of plastic Union Jack flags, but couldn’t find them, think they must still be in the ‘van from whenever.
But found a string of prayer flags that we bought in Nepal a few years ago, so put those up instead. A few funny looks from neighbours passing the house talking their dogs out!

Belated Happy Birthday Francis. Any wine left? Silly question I know.
What a beautiful day. Just about perfect morning so we went for a longish stroll up a back lane, climbing up to a small village that's sits about 500 feet above us. The lanes were empty going up but a lot more cyclists out on the way back. Wonderful birdsong everywhere. Back just in time for lunch so about 7 miles in all.
Finished the sealing of the other shower room after lunch. Just watered the garden again. Can't believe that we live in North Wales and i'm doing this in Spring, often.

An unusually busy day for me today. As is the same every Saturday, its cleaning day, Margaret cleans and follow along with the Vacuum. Some of my plants from Parkers arrived a day or two ago and I have only just got round to sorting them. I bit of a slug infestation so not sure if they came with them or they are from my garden
Some old neighbours called in (at a distance) on the way back from the shop to have a chat.
Just after lunch my new car battery arrived. The car is only three and a half years old but we don't do a great mileage in it, always under 3000 a year! Old battery would only keep a charge for a couple of days so decided to buy a new one. Bit of a fiddle to get the old one out but you learn as you go along which meant putting the new one in was a bit easier. All fitted and working OK fortunately. See how long I can leave it before this one goes flat!!!

Kind of you to ask TTDA. I'll have to have a think about that... I know I haven't got much..... my organ playing isn't as good as it used to be, but I'll have a look. I have to say, I'm happier directing choirs these day..... Give me a while to look.....
Hope everyone is keeping safe and well...

David. I have had a couple of orders from Parkers and I am not at all happy with either of them. They are very poor quality. I am not sure whether it is down to Parkers or the delivrry company Hermes. The last order was plug plants which was a disapointment as I was expecting something larger. Hermes just pushed them through the letterbox 😡

Thanks Millie, it's just a pity we can't get to the mountains, but we can always look. I was talking to a couple of friends this morning, at a safe distance, who are both in their 80s, and are unable to walk very far, who wander gently up to the top of our estate from where they can look off to the N.West and see the Lakeland hills that they used to walk over. It gives them great joy, as it brings back many fond memories.

I'm not 'traditionally' a gardener....
.... but I have managed to weed the back build a shed and plant miscellaneous pots of things, as well as install an outdoor electric socket. We need a new water pump for the garden feature, and I need to paint a wall, so hopefully this will be done soon.
I've spent quite a lot of time producing audio files for people to practice with as all choirs are locked out at the moment. That is so time consuming....
Sorry you've had problems with your Parker's order Millie.

It's on the news this evening that Little Richard has died. I loved him. The sound of my teenage years RIP.

Lovely views indeed Nellie. Is that Furness Abbey? We must get across to explore sometime.
I think it’s been the garden and the walking that has kept us stress free to be honest, we just sat out most of afternoon reading, chatting today. Blinking police helicopter didn’t half make a racket though.
We actually called into our local Nursery today. They were open, very well organised, no entry into buildings, but sanitised trolleys, supervised queuing, one way system. You had to buy food (eggs, veg, fruit, milk or bread) couldn’t have just plants. Best organised place I have seen. Anyone not social distancing strictly got short shrift from owners as well. A very good example of making something work in adverse conditions. OH didn’t go round, just me, then sanitised in car.

Millie its a few years ago now but I ordered plants from Parkers, some were ok but some a bit spindly and didn't do well.
One plant I remember leaving on the garden just outside the greenhouse, when I got round to doing something with it a few days later I found 2 Zealand flat worms under the pot. Thankfully I manged to get both of them into a container.
I took them to get looked at as I wasn't 100% sure if they were NZ flat worms. They were confirmed as NZ flat worms, at that time you had to notify certain departments if you found them and where you got the plants from. I've not ordered plants on line since.

I will reserve judgement until the next lot arrive when I will examine them closely as soon as they arrive. I must admit I was hoping for something a bit bigger than I actually got. Missing the garden centre me thinks. One of our local garden centres has already opened as they also have a farm shop and apparently they have rearranged the entrance and exit so hopefully customers shouldn't come into too much contact. They are not cheap (nor are Parkers!) but at least you will be able to see what you are getting. Just need the go ahead for those of us of a certain age to be allowed out!!!

All that reflection on old cars reminded me of my father's first car, A series E Morris 8. The registration was DMM8. Imagine what that would fetch now.

We had a Zephyr Mk 2 Burgundy colour reg 499 AEA bought for £30 when we got married in 1971 and OH first car which his dad gave him a Ford Anglia 100E reg PEA 673 wish he had kept the number as our surname starts with PEA and both cars would have been worth more now agree with Oneputt.

For those of you discussing plants and their arrival.
Check out FB if you do it or websites for your local nursery's. Several of ours, including my favourite but not cheapest 😉, take telephone orders and deliver. Delivery charges vary. They often place a list of plants available and a price on FB or their website. Ours included compost and manure, in fact if they had it in stock you could buy it. Great service and helps the small local shops.
Gosh car registrations, I worked for local council doing these and at that time driving licences transferring to the civil service when they were passed to DVLC, as it was then not an agency! Transferring to Westmister machine when DVLC was properly up and running. "Cherished registrations" as they were known then were fairly rare and changing them from vehicle to vehicle or placing "on the peg" for up to ?6 months?, was expensive in relative terms! We also had to check out all new registration numbers that were likely to be issued in the following months for names and rudeness 😱 not one of ours but some did get through and were then withdrawn. I wasnt good at this task but others were! I had to have 130 lox
explained to me! Young and very innocent 🤣
Now I see registration numbers we didn't issue at the time on vehicles, so money talks! Plus of course you can choose your own, for a fee 😀
Another wonderful weather day here, garden routine jobs including dinner and ??? It's beginning to be a bit groundhog, but I'm not bored theres still stacks that can be done 😱. I certainly hope the guidance is loosened by much today if at all as so many have taken it upon themselves to be outside their properties more than there were. It seems the colder weather isn't arriving down here until later in the week.
Stay safe folks.

You would have had to work very hard to keep it in good condition for all those years. The only Ford I ever owned was a MK 4 Cortina and at just over two years old the door pillars were starting to rust!!!
My first car was a Morris Traveller. We were driving along one day in the rain and Margaret said to me I am sure my feet are getting wet! Sure enough when we lifted the carpets there were rust holes in the floor!!!

Well a horrible day up here, after 20C+ yesterday it is now 6, yes six degrees! It's raining and a strong wind too. We have just put the heating on as well.

actually, sorry north east, but it's all Mrs C's fault, she had some new garden solar light delivered yesterday.
