Had some bad news from the care home this morning that Dad has tested positive for the virus though he's showing no symptoms. Apparently theye have had another positive case who has recovered, so we have to keep our fingers crossed. But at 93 and having suffered from an acute respiratory illness 18 months ago it's very worrying news.

So sorry to hear the news about your Dad moulesy. I do hope all will be well. As JVB has said a number of people in your Dad's age group have recovered and as he has no symptoms hopefully it will be mild case. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for your kid thoughts, everyone. Dad has fought back from a number of illnesses over the past few years so we have to just keep hoping on his behalf. It's especially difficult as, obviously, we can't visit him at the moment and he can't hear if we phone him; all we can do is keep emailing him to let him know how we are all doing.

And from me M. Keep strong x

Although sunny here we’ve got a brisk Northerly wind which is quite bitter. Had a 5 mile walk this morning, normal route but as the river/harbour and beach is ever changing So something new to see each day.
Someone reported my brother on Friday when he returned from shopping. The police went round this morning to see the landowner but were quite satisfied that it’s his permanent home so no problem
This week Mrs One has made 18 bags, of various sizes, for the Norfolk Scrub effort. She will hand these over in the morning and get more material for the next batch

Very quiet on our walk this morning. It was if someone in Govt. had announced a tightening of our freedom. Just 2 other walkers, no cyclists and 1 car passed us on a 2 hour walk. We've walked the route many times and this is by far the quietest we've ever seen, even in normal times. Strange.
Cut the lawns this afternoon. Decided they could take a lowering of the blades and they could. Just running out of room to store garden waste. We've been told we'll have a one-off collection but ours won't be until next week. We have 2 full brown bins, 3 full old style black dustbins, a builders merchant bag that brought the gravel last year and a full trailer. Mrs WN was heard to say that this is as bad as the lack of hairdressers.

Heard the news today that Monty Don's lovely dog Nigel has died. He was elderly but was in good health and his usual lovely self on Gardeners World last week but was taken ill over the weekend. So sad for Monty and his family. Most of us can empathise with them. I shall miss seeing Nigel on GW. He was a very special dog.

Sunny here but a very cold and strong headwind that seemed to be always against me no matter what direction I was riding in.

Someone reported our eldest daughter when she recently had to clear out her Aunty's sheltered bungalow...an early morning call from a social worker followed. Aunty died suddenly in the care home the next day, our daughter was just about to take "special" things in for her Aunty. It was very upsetting at the time. Glad your brother is ok.
Have had an industrious day doing some extra cleaning. OH cleaned all the windows, only the second time he's done it as it's usually me but he loves his new "karcher" style cleaner so I'm handing over to him...
The northern wind blew very strongly all day but the forecast is very dry and we could do with more rain, some plants are wilting. No rain on the horizon.
Farm veg box arrived this evening, looks good. I won't be going out anywhere just yet so we've got plenty in to keep us going.

Our thoughts are with you Moulesy. And thanks to you Millie re Monty Don's dog Nigel did think he looked slow last week on the tv he will be missed thankfully he has Nell and the new little Yorkie Pattie.
Had a lot of rain over the last couple of days and more forecast for this week but looking warmer next week.
We are off shopping together on Tuesday 1st time OH has been in my car for 2 months and he has only been out 3 times in his car, masks and gloves at the ready.

Moulesy, so sorry to hear about your Dad, here's hoping his is a mild case and he bounces back from it.
Busy day today, lots of cleaning going on as I found a pair of rubber gloves that fit over the finger splint
how sad that, that makes me happy, what has my life turned into
Kitchen cupboard doors have all been given a good wash down, work tops and tiles, fridge and oven, window and floors
feel better for that.
OH has been busy in the garden, he is now making the raised bed I asked for. I stripped out the plants last week to give him a blank canvas. Another day at it and he should be done I think. We will need to get some more soil though and then something to dress the top with, I'm thinking Cotswold stone chips or something similar.
Its been sunny for most of the day but a chilly wind so I was quite happy to stay in doors.

The same from me too, M. Hope that it is only a mild infection and that he recovers quickly.

Another sunny start, but chilly too, hopefully it will warm up soon.
Today is our son's 50th birthday, so we are about to have a family get together on Webex. His idea, he has booked us a 30 minute slot via his work. Since they (Cisco) run it, it should at least work well!
There will be a grand present opening.......that should be interesting!

There was a frost on the car when leaving for work this morning. It was forecast but still a bit a a shock to the system. Central heating was switched back on last night.

Looked at the forecast before going out for our walk this morning. A brisk wind from the North West, temperatures below 10 but just 1% chance of rain. So why did we get soaked half way around and why is it always when you are half way around?
Anyway, it's hardly the worst thing that could have happened so our own fault for believing it.
The place smells a bit like a Chip shop. Mrs WN bought a super powerful vinegar spray for cleaning the windows and I must say it works great but boy oh boy does it leave a bit behind. Windows wide open.

Happy birthday to your son KjNelln. Hope the call went well and the present was a hit?
Wherenext I use vinegar to clean my windows and mirrors. I make my own with stores own brand white vinegar and water in a spray bottle. I use anywhere between 25 - 50 % vinegar to water. Too much vinegar does give off an strong odour, reducing the ratio seems to retain the clean and sparkle.
Whittaker I agree about the weather shock this morning ❄. All tender plants well covered as they will be again for the next 3 nights.
Our new dishwasher fitted this morning after being part of our shed since lockdown began, it could have been fitted the day it was delivered but I bottled it because of the virus. All done social distancing, mask and gloves . Even so I've bleach-watered every conceivable surface and item it is possible he touched. He left it on an empty run through which has just finished and I'll put it through its paces in a mo OH has a large smile on his face 🤣 as I delegated the manual task for the duration. But I have to read the instruction manual which has had a wipe over too.
Now I can rearrange the shed contents when the maggot bites. Hopefully not today!
Stay safe folks
