It’s lovely and sunny here, but bitingly cold. So dog walk, then we decided to blitz the house. One armed with polish and duster, t’other wresting with one of Mr Dyson’s products not known for its reliability under stressful situations. I did hear a muttered “hope his bl**dy ventilators are better than this heap of **** “ at one point, but I pulled man and machine apart and restored order.

Too blinking cold to linger outdoors today, so we are viewing from the bay window, plotting what to do next. Dinner is sorted, house is clean, pooch is walked, decisions.....decisions.......😁

I did hear a hairdresser say on the radio, "cut it any way you like, no one will be seeing you for a while."wink

    Q. 'What's the difference between a good haircut and a bad haircut?'

    A. 'About 3 weeks ...'

When I retired one of my former students who'd set herself up as a mobile hairdresser used to come round to cut my hair. A lovely girl and all went well until the time Mrs M was out walking the dog and she turned up to cut my hair wearing a tiny crop top and a pair of hot pants! surprised

That was the last time she ever came to cut my hair! We still see her most days walking her children to school but rarely mention it! laughing

Some of us may have heard the question as 'Something for the weak end, sir?'.

In which case, the answer may have been a box of blue tablets ...

Unlike down south, it has been a lovely sunny day here, warm too.  Callum has been out on their terrace in short sleeves and sun hat, playing with his sand and water table, and  Mummy and Daddy have been sitting out, having worn themselves out in the garden.

Too hot here to do much.   laughing

A productive day today.  This morning I did a pile of ironing that has been sitting reproachfully in the utility room for nearly a week and then this afternoon I cleared and cleaned the dresser in our conservatory. I now have a box of crockery to go to our Sure Ryder shop.  I have a feeling that it might sit there for some while frown. OH cut the grass - still wearing shorts but with his coat on laughing

Having completed the roof the other day, I've now washed the remainder of the van and waxed the rear panel so steady progress being made. Arms ache a bit though.

Nice day here to Kj, great if you can sit out of the breeze.

Another coat of emulsion on the utility room walls, then I decided I should do the ceiling. I know I should have done that first embarassed anyway its all looking good now, just got to finish off the skirting boards tomorrow.

Managed to sit out for a bit after we had finished and dinner in the oven. Blackbird singing his head off and a chaffinch trying to out to do him laughing

Need to get more paint now for the back utility room and the spare bedroom , will break it to OH gently, he keeps muttering something about his back laughing don't know why, it was me up and down the steps and then on hands and knees.

Hope you all had a good Easter, neither of us had an eggfrown

No Eggs chez A B M either, TG  frown,  but spent this morning moving furniture round and dysoning all those normally hidden places.  All this took place 'cos I espied a tiny silver trail in one corner by an air vent and IT HAD TO GO !!!yell. Tomorrow I will have another really good look round and, if required, apply a sprinkling of talcum powder by that very vent  --  if I must have unwanted visitors then the least they can do is smell nice !

Hope you all have enjoyed yourselves over the Easter Weekend and are ready to get down to the usual weekday slog again wink .

Take care, look after yourselves please.innocent

cool Had the second of the "Parsley Box" easy meals tonight, 'Beef Stew',as with the previous 'Lamb Hotpot' and me cooking them in my AGA in the top oven ,only 15min was required .But to do this the meals have to be turned out into an oven proof dish.(rather than their microwave instructions)Upon turning them out into said dish, they looked a bit 'mush',but this did not deter the resulting flavour .The meals are just enough for me ,but as an observation,a few small fresh new potatoes,or a pot of steamed rice may satisfy other peoples diet !! tongue-out

T'was bitterly cold last thing yesterday as we went for our late night walk, and it had not warned up much this morning. We too did the inside hoovering before lunch and then tidied up under the car port. I just  need the Recycling  Centre to open now as we've stacks of rubbish to dispose of. Much warmer this afternoon for our walk out up the old playing fields where Flyte can get a good run off the lead. Quite a few about but lots of room to maintain distancing.

No eggs here either, I was just saying to OH yesterday that there was something missing!

We did buy 3 of them, but that was one for each grandchild.  I will need to check with Callum that he did not have anyone helping him to eat his!

Spent some time this morning filing paperwork, a few things still to go, then just the pile of receipts to go through to see if there are any we need to keep.  Found some stuff we could dispose of in the filing system, some to shred, rest to recycle......if only the recycling was being    collected!

I can see that the whole filing system needs to be investigated as there is a lot more paperwork there that does not need to be kept, but that will be a job for the future.

I have started a jigsaw. It’s a stinker as well, haven’t even done the border yet, been at it on and off for hours. Amazing what you find stuffed in cupboards, long forgotten. We have had that chilly wind as well. I managed to give outside our gate and wall a good sweep down this afternoon, climbing rose drops a few leaves, and it needed tidying, but that’s all I have done outside today. Not a soul around outside, and so quiet.

OH wants his hair trimming, so that will pass an hour tomorrow. 👍

An even earlier start to the day then usual, this morning! Blasted smoke alarm started beeping about 4am - low battery warning.  Tried to ignore it but eventually had to get up and sort it and not best pleased. I know the batteries are supposed to be changed every year, but I suppose it must be more like 3 or 4 years since that one was changed.  Lesson learned and I'd better check the other one, later today, otherwise I know what will happen! I feel a lazy day coming onfrown

Blood test at home [3 months check after heart attack] in the next half hour or so; then our first online food delivery ...

Oh, the sense of excitement and anticipation. I can barely contain my indifference ...

If the blood test reveals something terminal, we can always raffle off the home baking contents of the food order towards the funeral costs. At least with a limit on the number of mourners, the demand for the sausage rolls post interment will be quite low.

Seek solace where we may in these darkened times .... tongue-out

GP: 'Bad news and good news, Mr March....'

    Me: 'Bad news?'

GP: Blood test reveals terminal condition...

    Me: 'Good news?'

GP: 'You know that stunningly beautiful Medical Receptionist? I'm having dinner with her tonight ...'

Woken up early this morning, about 5am,  by a couple of blackbirds seemingly intent on knocking 7 bells out of each other in the garden! Couldn't get back to sleep but it was actually quite pleasant to lie there listening to the rest of the birds singing away. I think we're coming up to the peak time for the dawn chorus. I used to go for the RSPB walks in our local woods - I think at the start of May - 4am start and at leat one expert on hand to identify what we were hearing.

A lovely clear morning and,m without the wind, nice to be able to do my Cinnamon Trust walk in just a T shirt and shorts while Mrs M was out with our two. My turn for the afternoon shift. smile

Have a nice day and stay safe everyone.

We have a resident blackbird who warbles from 4am every morning M. His current arena of choice is on our bay, under the bedroom window!

I was up at 6am to give the dog his first pill of the day. It felt a touch cool, we never have heating on overnight. Glanced at weather station read out.....-1c in garden🥶 Three hours later, and it’s a balmy 11c now and rising. I bet that elderly lady thinks you are a Saint, OHs Mum used to worry like mad about her elderly Lab getting a walk, OH did it every day, but she still worried😁 We inherited her aged 15, along with the vet bills, but we had her another two years. 17 when she died, a very much loved pet. OH sneakily buried her ashes into his Mum and Dad’s grave.

Swapped around this morning, I did the early dog walk and OH went off on the click and collect expedition for ourselves and two sets of neighbours. Last minute changes to the orders caused a bit on confusion. Sadly no paracetamol for elderly neighbour who really needs them to control pain. Going to contact her family to see if they could find some and post some on to her, I expect she's saying she's fine on the phone.

OH said click and collect wasn't too bad and he could go straight in rather than stand in a queue. Nearly everyone wearing gloves and face masks.

Due to the treble order I had to do a lot of wiping down with dilute bleach, all done now. Fruit and veg etc arriving later.

Lovely day after a cold start. Love hearing the birds and walking on empty roads.

    Stay safe and well. smile

I usually do a couple of jigsaws over the Christmas holidays. The Ravensburger Christmas one was complete but I was unable to do the second one because stuff started arriving for the new kitchen I had to put the second one on hold. I use the table out of the motorhome as its just the right size so had to also wait until that came back from service. Just over a week ago I managed to start the second puzzle and finish it within three days which was good going for me. Ironically the scene depicted a cruise ship visiting a Greek harbour! I thought I would go online a try and buy a few more but everyone, apart from Christmas scenes, seem to be sold out and on Amazon some of the prices are ridiculous, I have seen them at £50!!!!!

Very cold over night, I covered the Pieris in the garden last night as they forecast a frost. Didn't make any difference though, they have all been caught, so now the Red leaves are Brown yell don't know why I'm surprised it happens every year. frown

Trip to Asda this morning to the pharmacy to collect my sisters prescription. Thankfully the store and the pharmacy were nice and quiet. Managed to pick up some more broccoli and cauliflower smile

Now back home heater on to take the chill off the utility room,  I'm about to go in there to do another coat of undercoat on the skirting boards.

Don't think there will be any outdoor work today its flipping freezing again.

We have a blackbird that sings his head off but not in the morning (unless I don't hear it) he sits in the tree outside our patio doors usually early evening. The birds that wake me early morning are the damn pigeons and doves, coo, coo,  coo, yell

Sun trying to break through so it might be nice later for a walk.

Very warm here 25.8C by front door to hot for working in the garden so have done some indoor chores.  We had a call from Leclerc this morning to say a couple of garden items we ordered well before lockdown have arrived and can we collect them so OH  who has not been out in his car for 4 weeks has gone plus he will do some shopping as well he has gone prepared mask gloves sanitiser and a pack of disenfectant wipes for the trolley, he should be back in the next half hour as it is a longer trip to Leclerc in Villefrance also got his paperwork with him, I will do some more local shopping tomorrow morning early again, just getting fed up of shopping on my own as only 1 person in car allowed here and now another 4 weeks until May 11th.  We are allowed out once a day for 1km walk from home for 1 hour again paperwork so have done usual route to poubelles and come back a different way no cycling allowed here or long running trips either but did see somebody out the other day on a bike complete with face mask on and a jogger another day, afraid a few of the locals disregard the regulations.

OH just rang to say nearly back home so will want some lunch.

    Take care folks.
