Grr...☹️ Just had a shower. One of those that doesn’t water the garden, but wets everything too much to be able to mow lawn.

Glad I cut our grass late Saturday afternoon. A very few spots of rain here and maybe a rumble of thunder way way off in the distance. Quite sultry here and most of the time it's that silent it hurts your ears! Just had a couple of planes going up, usually they're stacked for Heathrow over us. Bursts of traffic on the road over the back, the other side of a smallish estate.

Harder day here today, first since lockdown so not too bad, were on day 24. Woke to lovely videos of the granddaughter's thanking us for their eggs, and solving the clues to find them hidden. Gosh those girls move fast! 😂 Lovely phone chat with son then an unexpected video call from our daughter. So we finally got out of bed at 10am 😂😂😂. That's the reason I'm glad I did the grass yesterday. Since it's started slow I'm continuing in that vein and reading my book, last in a trilogy, and I don't know about others but as much as I want to know the conclusion I'm reluctant to get there too quickly. So having a play on here too!

Also feeling that mum and dad's grave is bare and it was sinking, my brother and I had arranged to meet and sort but we couldn't before the lockdown. I know it can't be helped but its hitting home today. All that said I'm mighty glad she went before all this, and could have a 'proper' funeral etc and we don't have to worry about her during this pandemic.

Oh a right breeze coming through now, very swirly  but I will sit out here until I'm driven in or I need to put dinner on. You can smell the rain in it I think! Rather biblical and appropriate for Easter Sunday.

We're having a M&S Turkey breast and stuffing, bought when we half expect son and DIL for Christmas, then found they were staying at home as only arrived back from honeymoon 2 days before. As they can from the frozen section I thought no worries, when they come for the weekend or Easter. Well they didn't make it down, son did for a night, and we went to them twice and now here we are at Easter and still alone 😢. Still they'll be plenty of leftovers 😂😂😂.

Happy Easter folks, however strange it seems. Stay safe and stay home 😤.

Sorry folks reading that back I sound like a right killjoy. I'm certainly not. Also just getting a slight whiff of the lilac 😀. Keep the photos of the bluebells coming, this will be the second year I've not been able to walk among them. This is my favourite time of the year, with all the promise of new life. I like all the seasons in their turn but spring is always most welcome 😀

Still lovely and sunny here been like that all day. Took the opportunity to get my bike stripped down and gave it a service and a good clean I have been using it a lot since lock down and that was a job I had been putting off for ages so spent 3 hours doing that and put it all back together everything seems fine so will hopefully go out on it tomorrow. We have a couple of things left over in the fridge from last nights BBQ so will cook them tonight while the weather is still nice love cooking outside been waiting for these days all winter just a shame we are all forced to stay at home would have been a nice weekend to have been away in the caravan.

We’ve just had our first bbq of the year. Very nice and well timed, as it started raining within 15 mins of finishing the cooking.

Our neighbours lilac has flowered a lovely purple colour within the last two days. Funny how it goes from nothing to full colour so quickly.
Hope you’re all well and coping with the situation. Stay safe.

This has probably been the quietest day so far, hardly any traffic to be heard so all the bird sound filled the air. Felt as if I was away from it all on some sort of weird but pleasant holiday. We had our lunch outside and I took the dog for a walk later, the cow parsley is starting to look good along with other wild flowers that are coming through. No bluebells for me except a few I've planted, we're not near any bluebell woods, a car journey for that experience, so I'm missing out.

B2 these things hit you sometimes, hope they've faded away a bit this evening. Onwards to Monday, think we'll feel the chill after the heat! smile

It dried up quickly, so grass cut, bit of weeding done. Next door but one dog came round to see us unannounced, looking very sparkling white and newly clipped........and then leapt into our pond! Which is a bit green, full of tadpoles. Hooked out and dried off, but his Mum wasn’t amused🤣

Had a heavy dew last night and the grass on the green near us was rather wet this morning. Completed putting the covers on the seats for the van, laid the floor covering and clean & greased the mover today. All ready now for the starting whistle, but I fear that it will be a while before it's heard.

Much warmer this afternoon so out only in shorts and a polo shirt for our walk. More people about on the route we took today so will that one a miss in the future, although I suspect that there won't be so many around later in the week when the temperature drops and there's rain in the air.

Thanks CY for the info, it's the same as being used by JK.

Just watched the Andrea Bocelli Music for Hope. Filmed at the Duomo di Milano and live streamed 4 hours ago and already over 16 million views.  Only 25 minutes and as well as the music the shots inside the Cathederal are spectacular.  Best on a smart TV if you got one, it is in very good quality HD. Well worth a watch / listen.😀

Mixed day, did a bit of food shopping this morning for us and my sister.

Then came home and sat out in the garden having a cuppa and a piece of cake in the weak sunshine.

Bit of jobs done around the house and then a bike ride out, managed 7.5 miles this time but it was starting to get a bit chilly, as the wind had started coming from the north and there is still snow on them there hills.

Once home and another cuppa, we (I) laughing decided that we should start paining the walks in the utility room. So everything that could be moved was taken outside onto the covered deck and we managed to get a good first coat on the walls.

OH then had 40 winks while I cooked dinner.

Bit of tv viewing tonight and now time for bed, night night all.smile

Like many of you we had a very quiet day yesterday. It was grand-daughter's 12th birthday.  She lives in N. Ireland and this was the the first time we haven't been able to be with her on her birthday so we phoned her instead. 10 year old grand-daughter who lives locally but we can't see either WhatsApped us in the afternoon and we had a nice long chat with her.  I watched the online Easter service from Peterborough Cathedral live streamed from the Dean's home in the morning and other than that just sat and read in the garden until a decidedly chilly wind sprang up late afternoon.  We had planned on a BBQ but the rain beat us to it so that had to be shelved.  Much chillier and grey here today to I think I might have to tackle the long list of indoor jobs. Belated Happy Easter to you all.

What a difference a day makes! Generally grey with odd burst of sunshine and chilly brrrrrr. Still no rain for us. Glad you had rain milliehull, hopefully DIL will have had some too as almost all drilling done they need rain - no pleasing farmers 😂 or their MIL's we need rain too. I really cannot believe I'm typing that after our wet wet winter!

Feeling brighter today, think it was similar to feeling more lonely in a crowd than when alone. Seeing and chatting but not being with loved one's and a distinctly odd Easter Day. Usually have that gloomy feel on Good Friday!

Was going to finish indoor blitzing, dining room and kitchen to go - but hey ho it's a bank holiday so let's not 😂. And do you know the rooms I did blitz need cleaning AGAIN 😱😱. So apart from a couple of phone calls the day's my lobster! Even dinner is sorted, cold cuts, new potatoes in their skins frozen veg as no salad and fresh veg don't go 😢. I roasted the last of the tomatoes with an onion, no garlic, yesterday whilst the oven was on, tastes good dried basil added as I blended it for soup.

Got a delivery of fruit and veg from a local guy tomorrow  hopefully it will be good. A friend and neighbour had delivery from a local company who normally make sandwiches for supermarkets etc on Saturday. That looked good so were going to compare contents and quality. Mine is a mixed box for £15 I know hers was, veg box, fruit box and pantry box so she got free delivery at £45. Boxes don't always have what you eat, especially if you have a fussy one 🤐, and how long it lasts for 2. Maybe we'll order between us - we're all on a fairly steep learning curve! Got my supermarket order to tweak before 21st. Incidentally my brother got a Tesco delivery for today yesterday! His daughter tipped him off, he went on, choice of 4 or 5 slots 😯🤔. That was mid morning. So keep trying folks, they having to self isolate too, can't share with him as he moved 20 miles away last September after 30 years of being a mile up the road...........

Enjoy your day off, not sure what from 😂 , stay safe and well

"What a difference a day makes" there is a freezing cold NE wind blowing ,and out with Rosa this morning ,her "targets" squirrels were still tucked up, but the birds were singing and wood peckers knocking seven bells out of the trees, not another soul seen all the way on our walk ,Bluebells still look lovely,  not enough heat to give off their lovely smell though (not lost it) as could smell the breakfast from someones kitchenlaughing

Much colder today, but still some sunshine,  had our local park all to myself when out walking the dog earlier. I would love to be able to do a long walk in the countryside but it would be a car journey out of town and I don't think I could say it was essential really.undecided

Glad you are feeling brighter today Bakers, I have had a couple of very wobbly days over the last few weeks.

It is hard missing birthdays Millie, but thank goodness for WhatsApp.

Done a few jobs round the house but my heart isn't in  it this morning,  so now looking in here and then will check out Amazon to see what kindle books are on offer.

Have a lovely day everyone,  stay safe.smile

A chill wind here but the sun is out. Everything is very dry, the adjoining field looks like the Sahara, no wonder our windows are covered in dust, it gets into our home too. I think potato planting is on the way but the machinery is in another field just now. We have no significant rain in the forecast over the next two weeks.

Just sorted out the final amendments to our click and collect order tomorrow and for our neighbours, OH not keen on doing it, hope there won't be a long queue. Farm shop delivery tomorrow, I don't mind taking pot luck with the fruit and veg contents but as you say B2 if your not a fan of some things it's not so good. However I could put in an order for exactly what I wanted but they may not have it! Catch 22. wink

    Enjoy the day everyone!

A biting wind here too, first thing this morning. One of the cottages I walk past each day has a huge magnolia tree in their garden. It has been a mass of buds for the last few days but I fear with the wind and much colder temperatures they're all going to be lost. frown

The children have been out rechalking rainbows on the pavements and adding Happy Easter wishes over the weekend.

Did a spot of "essential" shopping on my way back, stocking up on dog food, birdseed ... oh... and a couple of boxes of cream eggs!

Now the sun has emerged and we've got a clear blue sky but it's still very windy - don't think I'll be sitting out in the garden reading my book this afternoon.

Stay safe everyone and have as good a day as possible. smile

Sounds lovely ADD46. It's good to help small places especially at times like this. The slight extra expense can be justified in several ways, it's something to look forward too, made locally so helps other families, produced without being made in a factory with proper ingredients, not a chemisty set 😉, generally less expenditure as were not going out! Enjoy it when it arrives.

I've posted in the coronavirus thread that a local estate agent, not part of a chain as far as I'm aware, posted on fb they are offering NHS staff 25% off sole agency fees until 1 June. I should think any key workers will need to rest, debrief and sleep long long long before they'll want to sell their homes!! Let alone it'll be 'normal by 1 June! What they'll need is good mental health care and we owe them that, as we should our armed services, to show them our gratitude. Cynical moi??

A sunny walk this morning (this is beginning to sound Groundhog Dayish) but a bit of a bite to the easterly wind.

This afternoon I visited the hairdresser, who definitely needs a new opening gambit after "Been anywhere nice Sir?" Actually she's never called me Sir. That was poetic licence. She does a good job and is dirt cheap.

We didn't get any Easter eggs as wheat is an item that crops up in too many chocolate items and anyway Mrs WN had enough shopping to be getting along with so I made a Syrup Sponge and we had that with some custard as our Easter treat.
