'Tis the street lamp outside nextdoor's gate post! Sorry to disappoint.

BTW have you watched the War of the Worlds series on Sky? OH gives it the thumbs up.

Interesting thoughts in the poem, OP, but I can't see that it will be much changed when the virus is,well past it's peak, it will be unjust as it was for the vast majority, unfortunately.
We too had a clean out of some of our kitchen cupboards today. A couple of startling finds, Cream of Tartar dated 1997 and a nearly full packet of Cornflower from 1994!!
As you can see we don't do that job very often. It was warmer today but still a nip in their when the wind blew, but grand walking weather all the same. Less people out today, after the Easter holiday, so some will have returned to work I guess.

OH decided to tackle a couple of our cupboards, no startling finds, except some photos of young TDA’s and pooches. We have had a mooch day, I poked a few tadpoles, the dog mooched between his beds, and OH decided to re organise his hefty collection of bike cages and bottles......🤷♀️ No idea how it works, what it’s for, but happy that they are no longer falling out of cupboards but up in the bike cave😁

Yikes!
Could possibly be used to confuse the virus? Just don't invite us to dinner.

Thanks, I liked how the arrow was pointed in the general direction of the top, to help in mist perhaps?

Are all those holders from past beloved bikes?

Edit, replying to Corners
OH collects bikes like others collect stamps😂 He likes to quote that the ideal number of bikes is the number you currently have, plus one. Six I think, at the moment, plus he tinkers with two old ones of mine, and keeps my current Cube in working order. He lives, breathes and adores bikes.
You may ask how is he coping with lockdown, especially as he is classed as vulnerable? He has a bike on rollers, and a computer screen in front of him, and he can pick and choose thousands of rides from all over the World. He rode Dartmoor last week, roads we know well. It’s keeping him wonderfully sane, as well as fit. It’s sort of like living with a giant wasp, as occasionally I can hear rollers going up in attic.
Apparently, his latest wheeze is to plan a stop, much like he would out on a ride, and someone (🙄) is expected to provide a cup of tea, for authenticity. He’s selling it to me under the guise of “climbing all those stairs will be good for me” 😂
Little parcels of joy arrive weekly as he finds something else he needs for one of his bikes. But I don’t worry, it used to be horses. Bikes are easier, a lot less mud and mucking out🤣

Takethedogalong your OH sounds like hes got it sorted. I'd be very wary of giving in to soon on providing the cuppa break - it could lead on to other things!
Oy you lot

I meant he might expect a full blown picnic packed before he sets off or dinner restaurant style before he heads home on the last mile or two. After all it could be sited anywhere!2 -
Is that the historic flight Lancaster, TDA?

Great post. Well tell him a few days ago I rescued from the back of the garage our three bikes where they were hanging up, they haven't been used in years (I assume that is a capital offence in his eyes?) and had all manner of stuff in front on them so if you imagine Indiana Jones in some dark cavern you'll get the idea. Anyway cleaned them up and sprayed that bike lubricant, tyres were flat (say sorry to him for all this abuse of bikes) but appear to have kept their pressure since. Mine is a GT bought in 2002 so a bit retro I expect but the cycle 'computer' still works!
They got their maiden voyage last night, a paltry 4 miles

Yes, the Lancaster on it’s own. We were sat in garden, heard this droning noise, then huge shadow overhead. It was really low, picture doesn’t do it justice. We occasionally see or hear BBF going over in Summer, and Red Arrows a few times. Always a wonderful spot.

Still decorating , 😭. Thought I was on to a winner when I ran out of paint . How thoughtful of my wife to find somewhere online that delivers , shame the decorator wasn't included . Be glad to get back to work for a rest 😀.Stay safe everyone .

It’s a cycling day for me today. On my own, OH isn’t leaving house now. It’s only the Park, but it a good workout for me. I am quite pleased, do a bit further each time I go out, vary the hills and routes. I am up to around 15 miles per week now, but if you could see the hills around us, it does take some effort. OH sold my original bike a couple of years ago. A classic ladies racer, 21 speed Raleigh, from the mid 1980’s. I used to cycle to work regular when we were first married.

As we couldn't get a online shop for this week we decided to risk Tesco to pick up some things we were low on. Queue to get in wasn't bad, less than 10 minutes. The Aldi across the road was more like 40 minutes. Reasonably well stocked on most things and fairly well organised. It was just a shame some folk seemed incapable of following the directional arrows. Fortunately it's a new store and the lanes are fairly wide. As our MH is stored next door, we also used it as an excuse to check in on it. We didn't know if we would be allowed access, however our card opened the security gate. Everything seemed OK solar keeping the batteries charged. Probably wishful thinking but in another month when we next give it a check, it might be permitted to take it for a run round locally.🤞

Office for National Statistics reports that online shopping prices have risen by 4.4% in the last month for the most popular items, with increases of 1.8% last week alone.
Last year we did a South American cruise and booked a City Walk in Buenos Aires. Our guide had grown up around the time of Argentina's Debt Default and he told the story of queuing in the supermarket to buy a tin of baked beans. By the time he reached the checkout, the price had risen by a substantial sum, so 1.8% per week looks almost reasonable ...

TDA. I do a lot of cycling too it’s my hobby although I don’t think I’m as dedicated as your OH. I’m averaging around 45-50 miles a week at the moment which is about normal for me at this time of year. We are luckily that we live on the coast so there is plenty of cycling to be done around here and my regular routes have some nice views over towards the Isle of Arran. We usually take the bikes with us when away in the caravan so we can explore different places last year when we were staying in the New Forest I got over 100 miles of cycling done during our stay which was very enjoyable some lovely routes down that way. I use Strava which tracks your routes and keeps a note of mileage ect if you don’t already have it I recommend downloading it it’s very good and gives motivation to beat your own records ect.

I wonder if the rush for online shopping is subsiding a bit as in the last two days we have been able to, quite easily, book two more Waitrose slots so we have them once a week for the next three.
It seems that they will announce that the lockdown will last another three weeks today? So what happens after that we don't know. Some are saying there will have to be social distancing until there is a vaccine available which could be as long as another year. I wonder how long it will be before there is a recommendation to wear facemasks? We might be lucky to take our motorhomes for a run in a months time but there will be nowhere to go!!!

Now young David dont antagonise the natives by saying you got online slots. Can't get any with Waitrose way into May, that's if they're been released that far ahead? Similar with Adsa, Tesco and Iceland but at least you can see the available dates! Even if they're all marked 'unavailable'
Yes I expect well be in lockdown for a minimum of another 3 weeks, because of how it is here 🤐🤐. I can't see anything like what we thought of as normal for months IF not years ahead. In some ways I'm glad the decision to get rid of our motorhome was made for us as I can't see folks getting much use from their Van's for a long long time.
Pleased to see that NZ are thinking of lowering their level down from 4 to 3, 9 confirmed deaths awaiting results on 10th. But they have been very quick and hot on tackling it much earlier than us. Quarantine compulsory and enforced on entry to the country etc etc. Daughter said flour caused an issue but thinks that's passed, they are gluten free and she said no one wanted that 😂

Most of the data quoted are being tracked/compiled by John Hopkins University and I don't recall seeing any revisions to their outputs. Room for error if some countries suppress data or do not record deaths is Care Homes or at home etc.
It's easy to 'just look at the numbers' etc, but these are human beings, and the number of deaths is both appalling and frightening.
And for those still living, the outlook is only marginally brighter. USA jobless figures today show that the last 4 weeks have more than wiped out the total number of jobs created in US since 2009. The figures would have been worse, but last week was only a 4 day period, but still reported 5.25 million jobless increase. A full week suggests 6 million+, and, like UK, there are large numbers of people ineligible for inclusion in the jobless totals.
It's less than 2 weeks since a pair of economists, Blanchflower and Bell, forecast 26 million US unemployed and a rate of 32% which seemed absurd. Now, there's a fear that the forecast may have been too low.

Home shopping availability seems as difficult as ever here David. We are OK from next week onwards, although it has meant sitting with my pad poised at midnight in order to get a slot.
As to nowhere to go, I will be happy to just exercise the MH😂 for a few miles locally. Unfortunately I think taking it further is well in the future.☹️

I think we would all like to take our motorhomes out for a run but this guidance issued to police officers in England could make doing anything difficult. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-52312560

Certainly at the moment it wouldn't be appropriate, as ours isn't kept at home, so couldn't be used for the essential shopping trip. Perhaps by the end of May some of the restrictions on non essential journeys might start to be relaxed. Won't help though, if as suggested by some, us senior citizens are still told to remain at home as much as possible.

Strangely enough after a couple of weeks locally of only priority click and collect slots from Waitrose some delivery slots became available, round about 6pm during this week if you're looking daily? I had intended to go over to home deliveries recently (but not for the neighbours as well...
) so I'm hoping things are running a bit more smoothly? Most of us trying to get slots just have to stick with it, just like hunting in the forest in days of yore.

Today has been a bit gruelling as we're trying to help our daughter sought out all the arrangements for her lately departed Aunt, bill paying, bank etc. Although her Aunt had been out of her sheltered accommodation since before Christmas, in hospital and then in care, the housing association have been less than helpful. It has been a bit difficult for our daughter to do this on her own. Just four allowed at the funeral, I feel very sorry for others having to go through this, mostly on line, no personal contacts etc. As an aside from that, don't risk shopping if you can find another means of getting food etc. Stay at home and keep well, make sure your "papers" are in order too.
