We're just experiencing a break after hours of torrential ☔ rain and strong winds. So sorry for those who might be affected.  I was kept awake by noises in the roof, we have insulation panels that take the brunt and I think some are working loose, either that or we have a giant rat family! OH will be checking things out soon. wink

WN our new canine arrival behaved very well on her trip out. She is so tiddly but is quite confident. (I am relieved to say as she was quiet at the rescue centre.)

Brue - Hope the Cumbria water problem isn't affecting Goldie's farm, sounds difficult to say the least.

Thank fully we're south Cumbria (formerly Westmorland!) so we're OK.

Glad to hear everything ok on Goldies Farm.  Changeable here today, wind has dropped but a mixture of sun and showers.

Fantastic service this morning went on the inter web at 9am for a doctors appointment, I was with the doc at 1045hrs, blood test at different surgery at 1145 and X Ray booked for tomorrow.  Now that’s what I call service by our fantastic NHS.

You are very lucky Oneputt, our surgery only offers appointments for a small list of needs and on a Thursday, no doctors! Hope your appointments go well, I wish the NHS was more standardised.

We are very lucky as our practise has 3 surgeries so as long as you don’t mind which doctor you see and are prepared to travel a couple of miles you can usually get an appointment within a day or two.

same here, and there is now an option to book appointments on line and on a Saturday morning, although these are usually for routine follow up or reviews to be booked up far in adavnce.

Here's something that CS may enjoy, being a man of numbers.

I've been occasionally trying to sort out an itinerary for a 5 week trip when we get back from our Spain and France break. So we're thinking of either having a tour around the Welsh coast taking us to Anglesey then down to the Pembrokeshire coastal path area and also the Gower, then back home via Ross on Wye or Hereford way.

The other plan is to head North to Edinburgh and work our way back around the coast to the Borders and Northumberland then straight down the A1 stopping at a couple of points of interest en route. Then back home via the m62 etc.

I went on AA route planner to work out mileage.

First route will come to 584 miles. Second route will come to...584 miles. Who says they don't believe in coincidences?smile

Anyway helps while away the time.

I did clean the caravan this morning before the rains came. The sun has just come out again so time to do some outside jobs.

We are not too bad with our local surgery, we can book appointments on line or by phone. Some appointments are reserved just for online, while others can be made in advance on the phone or emergency appointments for on the day.

Wish out hospital was as good, OH was refereed for general surgical consult in mid December, as we've heard nothing so far and are due to be going away soon, we thought we would phone to advise them of our dates away. It turns out its not a problem as they don't think he will be seen until the end of the year surprised he now has an appointment next week 'privately' and with the same Dr he would have seen at the local hospital. Wouldn't normally go down that route but we have quiet a few trips planned this year and the insurance will not cover him (for that ) as he is awaiting and appointment.

Bright and sunny here today, no wind and a bit warmer than yesterday. We seem to have gotten of lightly compared to other parts of the country. The garden is very wet though, if you walk on the grass its like walking on a wet sponge.

Off for a walk now while the sun is out.

I enjoyed that very much, thanks.

Apparently 584 is the number of ways to color the vertices of a triangle with 12 colours and is DLXXXIV in roman numerals, and is twice the number of ways to make change for a dollar.

And angel number 584 is an angelic sign and is an indicator of peace and love. Your angels send this number your way to fill your life with the positive energies of the Universe.

Treasure those memories Triky. Dad sadly died a few months before my parents Diamond Anniversary, but we did a bit of something special for Mum on the day.

Great service, OP. Hope that the results are nothing to worry about.

Shame that you're not able to get to Barleywood, there's plenty of room!!

Still dry and some sunshine today. First into Fakenham to restock and refuel then onto Holkham Village for a walk around the lake. All ready now for our move on to  a new to us CL near Diss tomorrow, before Storm Dennis arrives.

I hope all goes well with your appointments OP.

We had a similar problem with OH and holiday insurance last year TG. One insurance company wouldnt insure him for any of his medical conditions as he was awaiting results for one of them. They would only cover him for an accident. We eventually found a company that would insure him for all others than the one he was waiting investigation for. All such a worry but hopefully resolved now.

Mixed weather today. Sun showers and a rainbow. Had a U3A church visit to Elton Church today. Such glorious windows. Unfortunately they have just had their lead stolen for a second time and are hoping that the diocese will let them replace it with something else this time. We had a wonderful and informative talk by a local historian.

    Trikey,

Keep those memories fresh lad & especially the good ones.

MillieH,  I've heard of an alloy that is often used to replace lead cladding on roofs, much cheaper than lead BUT I'm not sure if it works as well on stained glass windows.undecided

There is one advantage tho'  --  Nothing to stop the window repairers from putting up a sneaky sign which says they have used NON LEAD  materials  innocentwink

I have been to our surgery twice in the last week, once for a checkup and the second time for the regular blood tests. I was really surprised how quiet it was! Perhaps people are worried by the COVID-19 virus and are staying away unless they really need to visit the doctors!

Main utility room floor now complete, but still the store room off to the left, and the boiler room off to the far right to finish.  Hopefully all finished by the end of the week, though we have our grand daughter's birthday party on Sunday, so no work then.

Next are the oak skirtings and door facings, then the tiling to finish, so still a good while till everything is complete.

If I can work out how to do it, I could even post a photo once finished!

I hear we're in for another windy weekend, so careful for anyone who is out and about in the caravan.  Just hoping that it will have died down a bit by Monday - we're due out in the caravan and are leaving your eldest daughter at home to do the clearing up after a family do on Sunday.   Not going far - just to Harbury Field at Leamington.  If the weather is too bad, we might just have to cancel.  Fingers crossed.

    David

Not looking forward to another stormy weekend, OH has been up in the roof fixing the insulation panels which worked loose with the last blasts! We're a bit exposed to the south westerlies here. Two new trees are awaiting planting but we'll wait till the weather settles. Just had the "instructions" for our garden open day (along with others nearby) just at the moment the garden looks a bit scruffy so a lot of work ahead and feelings of "why did we volunteer!" wink

Mixed weather today here sun one minute then heavy showers the next, wind not too bad a the moment.

DIL set off at 5am this morning to drive up from Wiltshire (on her own) its half term up here next week and for her to, so she is on her way up to see her son and daughter for the week. Its the only school holiday of the year that they both coincide. Daughter is now on her way back from skiing in Italy with the school, unfortunately they have lost the last day skiing due to storm Denis. They were told that the ferry crossing they were going to take would probably be cancelled so they have set off early. Lots of disappointed school children and teachers, why they couldn't just use the tunnel instead, parents not happy about it either as its cost a fortune for the trip and now they have only had 4 days on the slopes.

Did a bit of food shopping this morning so shouldn't need to go out if it gets a bit rough. We will either get off lightly or get a real dump of snow, nothing normal here its one extreme or the other.

Called in to see sister and BIL as I'm now just about over this cold, couldn't risk going earlier as he had just had another chemo session. It really knocks it out of him for about 4 days then he starts to level out again.

OH now doing his ironing so guess I'll have to do mine next.

Have a good but safe weekend everyone.

Seemed to have worked Brue. Those using a Windows system might want to right click on the picture to open in a new tab which shows a larger picture. I assume the dog doesn't bother the cat given the size differentialsmile
