The site is playing up tonight, just taken several attempts to post. yell

Still very windy today and heavy showers but no snow. We had a couple of fence panels come down last night but looking at all the pictures online I think we got off lightly.  OH has already started to dig out the posts and concrete.

Hope Nellie got to Barleywood safely this morning. Good job it wasn't a big distance.

Weather played up with our internet connection last night but seems ok today. Had a good look at the soffat boards and guttering today. Looks like the whole frontage needs replacing. Might have to give the insurance a call. Getting an estimate on Wednesday. Bit too big of a job for me.

Very cold this morning in town. Picked up a few library books. We then received an email an hour later saying a book Mrs WN had ordered had come in.😊. Giving MiL a lift down tomorrow otherwise she might be in danger of getting blown over so will call in then. I'm sure they do it for a laugh.

Our birdies are ravenous at the moment. Have to buy some more fatballs and peanuts when we're out.

Glad to hear you're on the mend TG.😷👍

Thanks WN, we made it safely to Barleywood. It was less windy this morning and we had blue skies too. Set off earlier as our pitch was available whenever we choose to arrive. Wind was behind us for most of the way and not too strong. It did get up after lunch and then the rain came just as we got back from our pm walk. That turned to sleet and then snow, enough to cover the ground. Some has gone now but it is a clear sky so expect frost in the morning.

Sorry to hear about all the damage done by the storm. Glad to hear that you are feeling better, TG.

Week two of kitchen fit. Plastering now finished and most bases and wall cupboards up in the kitchen and constructed for the utility. Managed to get kitchen ceiling painted before cupboards went up but might not be so lucky in the utility as plaster has to dry for a few days. The back garden is a complete mess, glad we don't have any grass! The have the largest Hippo bag I have ever seen, your could almost get a small car in it!!!

Clear skies tonight, its going to be a cold one me thinks, still a bit of snow on the grass but the roads are clear just now. More snow forecast for tomorrow so could be a tad slippery first thing.

OH supposed to be driving the car and trailer tomorrow to collect wood for the mens shed, might not be going as the collection is up Kinnoull hill.

Thanks WN and NTH, been feeling better as the day has gone on.

Glad to hear you arrived safe and sound at Barleywood NTH

I remember when we had our last extension done.  The chap who did it was a caravanning friend of our - someone who we used to meet up with each year in the south of France.  He was still doing the job when it was time for us to go on holiday.  'The South' was always half way though our holiday, so when we were ready fo off, I just gave him the keys and said, 'Give us the keys back when you get to Frejus.'  I just left him to it and was glad to be out of the mess.

Best of luck with it all David.  It'll soon be done, now.

We seem to have survived intact, though I have not been up the garden to check on the dodgy greenhouse.  Some snow and sleet, but nothing much.  Quite cold.

Another day crawling on the floor for me, progress is slow.  Lots of cutting as the area to be floored is not as wide as a board is long, plus they are being put down diagonally as nothing here is straight/at right angles.  Will be lovely when finished, hopefully!

Day started off well with a fraud alert on our MasterCard, telling us it had been temporarily blocked. The text looked genuine came to right box and had relevant details. Phoned the number on the back of the credit card, so as to be sure of who I was ringing and it diverted straight throughto the fraud department on inputting the card number. All was OK the system had just flagged up 2 consecutive iTunes payments. They go out every month and are not unusual but apparently there is a high incidence of fraud with these type of payments at the moment. Nice to know they are over cautious.

Still fairly windy here and cold. Walked into the village to get some shopping. More to check they had unlocked the card than anything else. Walking back was into the wind, which went straight through😂

Lovely and sunny here at the moment, had a bit of a snow flurry but nothing much.

OH out collecting wood for the Men's shed, using a big trailer so glad the wind has dropped.

I've taken the opportunity with him out of the house to give it a good going through, always seem to get on better without him around wink just decided to have a cuppa as its thirsty work.

Not sure what this afternoon will bring but might go for a walk, a bit of fresh air should just do nicely.

We sat and did a couple of reviews yesterday about the cruise, felt a bit guilty till we read some of the previous ones. Wish we had done that before booking embarassed still finding it hard to understand why a company we had cruised with before and thoroughly enjoyed, can have got it so wrong on this ship. Oh well never mind we live to fight another day. Off to put a load of washing on while the sun is shinning.

After a quiet visit to aged sister I got home to find that this months copy of Vintage Spirit has arrived c/w their version of the Events Guide so I've been perusing & listing those shows etc that will interest an old Steam Fan  that I know  innocent. Now I'm off to brew up a cuppa  & warm up again --  it always amazes me just how cold my hands get when I'm tapping away on this keyboard frown

A fine sunny day, but a biting wind. Parked at The Slipper Chapel and walked the Pilgrims Way to Wallsingham where we visited the Abbey for the Snowdrop Walk. We've never seen so many snowdrops in bloom at once, well worth a visit for anyone who's never seen them there. They were just starting to "go over" so would suggest that if other want to see them in future years go earlier in February or even in late January if possible. Then drove onto Binham to see the remains of St Mary's Priory, a most impressive set of building well worth seeing.

All units in place now in new kitchen, they have even fitted into place the new oven and microwave but not fixed. Managed to get a second coat of paint on the kitchen ceiling but still waiting for utility to dry. It sounds like a big day tomorrow as the electricians are coming for their final work so it should be much more tidy by tomorrow night. Hopefully also that hob and sink along with most of the worktops should also be fitted tomorrow and hopefully the dishwasher, how I have missed that!!!

Mrs WN's uncle was at Walsingham Nellie. He entered the church at a young age.

I agree with you that St.Mary's is grand. Looks like the wind will be with you for a while this week.

We were rather take aback today when our next door neighbour, who has done absolutely nothing to improve his house or garden since moving in over 2 years ago suddenly turned up with new fencing panels for the fence between us. I had intended to replace them tomorrow. I wonder if he's starting to feel a bit of guilt? All we have to do now is get him to move the 4 cars on his front garden.

Went to look for a new storage yard this morning as our current one is a mess due slight flooding and and a lot of ground works that have not been completed, so perhaps time for a change.

Been another bright sunny day here and for the moment the wind has fell away.

Have to say I’m jealous of Nell up at Barleywood, doesn’t look likely we will get away for another couple of weeks

Nice bright start to the day and not so cold or windy as yesterday, have spent some time assisting one of next doors sons ,clearing the storm damaged fence panels and making others more secure, until they can get a contractor to put a new fence in place, all very busy now surprised ,Rosa thinks its great as she now has twice the space when out in the gardenwink

Bright and sunny today but bitterly cold.

No snow in the village but we can see the snow on the hills all around us.

Bit of food shopping this morning, then looking for buttons for the cardigans I've knitted for OH's great niece.

We've lost all but one of our craft type shops and Dunelm only sell buttons in packets, of course they are never the amount you need so you have to buy more than you need at an inflated price yell thankfully the wee wool shop is still going and they sell buttons in a tube individually, so instead of paying £3.50 for them I paid 96p smile and a little shop that's been going for years gets the money, not a lot I grant you but I do buy my wool there as well.

Got a nice little collection of knitted things done now, 4 cardigans, 1 jumper, 2 sets of bootees, 2 sets of mitts, and 2 hats all in pink or white (we know its a girl) can't wait to see her face when I give them to her.

WN, we have a neighbour like yours laughing today is the first day since last Wednesday that he has been at work, not his fault but the weather, he works on the wind turbines and they can't work when its windy or cold so he's just had a week off on full pay. Now if that was us we would have been out doing jobs, not him, sat and watched the tv most of the time. Then he decides to start chopping wood at 7.30 am right outside our bedroom window, yell OH has had words.

Hope the Cumbria water problem isn't affecting Goldie's farm, sounds difficult to say the least.

Took our little dog down to the coast for a bit of socialising with other dog walkers and then a cafe visit. She did well and it seems to have tired her out! The sea was churning but the sun was shining. smile

Been a bright sunny but cold day, spent the morning helping OH with putting in the new  posts and then replacing the fence panels which came down last weekend.  Made sure we still have our Hedgehog hole.,smile  The garden is now like a swamp where we were tramping over it, hoping it will recover.  Work this afternoon for a rest! laughing

We made the decision on Monday to cancel our trip at the weekend crywe were only going away for a couple of nights and the forecast wasn't good,  and now it's a storm. surprised The CL owner said we could re arrange for the end of the month so trip only postponed! smile

Shame about the trip Helen but probably for the best.

TG - We don't just have 1 neighbour "like that" but the one the other side is just as bad. He moved in about 18 months ago and I spoke to him in his first week explaining about the new fence we were erecting between us. No problem but he said he didn't know what he was going to do about the garden which contains lots of polytunnels from the previous owner. Well now we know - Nothing is what he has done. Not even set foot in it as far as we can tell.yell

Nice to see your little one socialising Brue. How did she react?

New fence panels put in with other neighbour today. Sorted out replacement guttering and roofer promised to fix a small but irritating problem on a flat roof section. Took Mrs WN and MiL to Dunelm in Chester to change a Duvet that we bought last week. We wanted some throws for the caravan. Dunelm had wrong size for us but we picked 2 up in B&M of all places. Couldn't believe it.

Our B&M is huge as it took over the old Homebase store, and we've not yet had time to explore it all yet. Hope that your roofer gets round to you sooner than last time, WM, and you get all the jobs sorted.

Think you did right cancelling the weekend trip, Helen, and that you get there when the weather improves. We will be moving g on Friday so should be all set up before Dennis arrives.

Much less windy today with full sunshine but still cold. Today's morning walk was around a farm trail at Coachyard Farm, and then this afternoon we parked at Thornham and walked the coastal path to the site of Sea Henge and back.

We chose a different roofer Nellie seeing as the other one still hasn't returned. I made an ad hoc repair myself which stopped the problem but last weeks weeks gale did for it! He's coming in a week or so.

Do hope all your fixtures and fittings work ok David.

There was a report yesterday of a chappie buying a washing machine from Currys which flooded his kitchen. Apparently he was advised by Head Office to take it back for a full refund. But when he arrived he was told " Go away, we will send a repair man " When he got a little upset, Currys Hanley branch called the Constabulary surprised !!

Many things might have been promised but EASY  ??  Never yell !!

We've just bought an Ottoman, online.  When we come to put it together, one of the pre-drilled pieces was drilled incorrectly so they sent a new part.  We come to put it together (again!) yesterday and, having completed it, shut the lid, and the back corner broke!  They are sending me a complete refund and do not want the product back.  Not sure it I can fix it yet, but if I can, we will have a free blanket box.....  laughing

Whilst at Broadway site last November we went to B&M in Evesham excellent even stocked cheap sugar free biscuits for OH as he s type 2 diabetic, came back with quite a few items a lot cheaper than Tesco's just across the road.  Sorry to hear abut Beales in Yeovil brue have been in there a few times when we lived in Somerset.

We missed out on the strong winds but did have some rain but as much as further north very mild here upto 16C yesterday and warmer again at the weekend.

Back to painting door frames as all 3 doors now installed.

Half term already started here as in 3 different areas of the country and many around here go off skiing, not our idea of a holiday but it is very popular here as Pyrenees not to far away and the Cantal even closer to the north east from us, if we drive through some local villages we can see the snow on the Cantal mountains.

Good luck with the Ottoman DSB and glad DK's kitchen is nearly finished.
