DK, memorable it certainly will be but not for the good things.

Millie, don't let this experience put you off, it was our 14th cruise or 4th with Costa. All the others have been good some very good. This time last year we were on the Queen Mary cruising to India, a completely different experience.

Thankful that we are not on the ships in quarantine.

The ship we were on had not had a good week the week before us, as the ship were not allowed to let tours off in Marseille due to riots in the area. Then they had to spend 3 days in Barcelona due to the storms in the Med. So they lost a stop at Majorca then confined and delayed at Cittavechia for 24 hours.

It hasn't put us off cruises just might go with smaller ships wink

Thanks, OP I'll look them up. We are booked into Barleywood from Sunday, but might postpone the move if the winds are too bad and we are able to stop here another night.

    Belated Happy Birthday, millie.

Sorry to hear about your misfortunes on the cruise, TG. I can't think of anything that I'd like less for a holiday than to confined on a ship with 8000 other people, except perhaps spending the Easter Weekend on a club site!!

No wonder we didn't get a postcard from you TG!smile Horror story. We've never cruised although Mrs WN has been on quite a few River cruises with MIL and a sea one to Norway ffjords. I'm quite happy sticking to ferries.smile

Arrived at dealers a bit earlier than expected. Three relatively small jobs to do but one of them took 3 hours as they had to remove the fridge to find the fault, which apparently they had caused on the last visit, so our 1 hour job lasted 4. We got home and found that they hadn't put the step back in the van.yell  The actual journey/s went ok. Not too windy. All unpacked.

Enjoyed the short break. Tried 2 awnings out, had some excellent walks and decent weather. Still getting used to the newish van to us. Funnily enough we had a look at the latest model of our van whilst at the dealers. Didn't like the "improvements". Hope they revert back before we consider any new one. They'll, hopefully, have a few years to reinstate a few things.

We've done that and survived Nellie! A few times as well. Always when we were working though.

Apologies for my bad manners Millie. Happy birthday. It's been a long day.

Nell Hope you have a good time at Barleywood, don’t think we will make it.  There is a Alaskan Blue Head wagtail just outside Docking.  Been there for about 3 weeks.  1st-winter male again in field on dung heap north-east of Shaw Farm, Sedgefield

Sorry we'll not be seeing you, OP, another time maybe? Thanks for the birding heads up.

Glad to see that you've eventually arrived home safely, WM. Hope that  Campbell's are going to post on your step to you in time for your trip away.

We went up to Hunstanton today for a walk on the beach in front of the cliffs. There were a couple of artist, with telescopes, sat below the Fulmars nesting perches sketching the birds. Then after lunch we went for a walk through Snettersham Common and, looking across to the shore saw thousands of Geese on the fields and marshes.

Don't know about the step yet Nell as they were closed by the time we got home and tried to ring them. Have to wait until Monday. Not desperate as we have a spare from our written off van.

Sounds like a good day for you.

Sunday is supposed to be awful so hope you manage ok whatever you choose.

They don't inspire confidence, do they!!

The only problem I see with stopping here is that it's rather open and exposed, and if the high winds come from the West we'll be side on to it so it might be rather rocky!! We'll make up our minds on the day.

We had another night of heavy frost but there was a gentle breeze this morning so that raised the temperature somewhat and the frost soon went. It was another fine day was it plenty of sunshine but did cloud in later.

Guess you mean Sedgeford, OP. If so I've found the Shaw Farm on my IS map. Just wonder if it will still be there after the storm this weekend.

We’re on site in the caravan, waiting for the weather to do its worst. We positioned the van behind the barn with a compass to predict the direction of the wind. There’s one other caravan here and they’re pitched in a precarious way if the winds come as forecast.
    Millie many happy returns. 🥂

Tammygirl 😮 Lanzarote will be better.....it can’t be any worse!

Nellie have you been to Barleywood before? It’s a site we wanted to visit but when we looked last year it was fully booked on the dates we had available.
We’re having a quiet weekend in the caravan. Pub lunch, rugby and maybe a beer or two.😊

All calm here just now, we even have some sun.

Terrible nights sleep,  OH has kindly given me his coldyell got up at 5am couldn't breath so stuffed up, sore throat and niggling cough. Feeling a bit better now after some meds. Big pot of soup on the go now, that usually does the trick.

Thanks to all for your comments.

    Belated happy birthday to MillieH

Hope you get your shower sort bakers2

Moulsey, your new dog looks lovely, hope it all works out. Have a good time in SA

WN, good to hear you have the jobs on the van done.

Brue, your little dog sounds just great, hope you are well again now.

I know I will have missed some out, sorry nit up to scrstch just now.

Look after yourself TG, at least you're in the comfort of your own home now, enjoy the soup!

Sunny here too, can see a bumble bee from my window, going in and out of the big camellia in our front garden.

ADD46, sensible to have pitched the caravan in a safer spot. We were staying at Hillhead a few years back and our friends had to turn their van in the middle of the night, they were in an exposed part of the site.

Trying to get a few outside jobs done before the wind and rain arrives tomorrow.

Have a birthday party for the land lady of our local pub tonight, Karaoke, although even after a few drinks I still won't be getting up to sing.laughing

Take care TG hope you feel better soon.

Take care tomorrow folks, think I may have a duvet day! smile

Gosh, you are having a rough month in one way or another TG. Hope you pick up soon. I have been in garden planting some bulbs, got some tulips very cheap, they might be ok, they might not, shall have to see. It’s glorious at the moment here, t shirt warm, but the wind is starting to get up. I have just spotted my Rosemary bush is flowering........this is so not right this time of year........not in Yorkshire anyway!😱

    😱😱😱and frogspawn!

All change here. After my post this morning, we decided that even if we made it through the night with some sleep, packing up tomorrow in 62mph winds and rain would not be funny. So we’ve been out for our pub lunch and then packed the van away and put it back into storage. Still paid the CL for both nights as we didn’t want them to be out of pocket.
I’m now in favour of H&T’s duvet day tomorrow. 😊

TTDA - frogspawn 😮 I’ll have to check our pond. If you’ve got it in Yorkshire we probably have too.

Brue- OH spoke to the other caravaner as we were packing up and they’re staying on site until Tuesday. I wish them luck for tonight and tomorrow. It’s quite an exposed farm with open fields for great views but not when the winds coming from that direction. 😐

A day of shopping for food and sorting out the garage after I dumped all of the stuff in there yesterday.

Looking after a Rice pudding with stem ginger and apricots at the moment.

Well we went to Easington Farm cl  on Thursday (just posted review), but decided to come home today instead of tomorrow after a night of very strong winds! Had a very nice couple of days and definitely plan to return.

Feeling very snug now tucked up on the settee with a glass of red, catching up on 'Vera' and watching the storm unfold outside.

Another dry day with sunshine and blue skies after lunch. Had a walk past Peter Scott's Lighthouse along the estuary embankment. Best spot of the day was a Barn Owl about 10 m from us.

Wind has started to rise. We have a contingency plan in place for tomorrow. If the wind's not too strong in the morning we'll head off early for Barleywood, but if not we're able to stay out here till the wind dies down.

ADD, we've been fortunate to get onto  Barleywood a few time, I guess we just pick the right dates. Which site were you on just now?

Sorry to hear of your cold, TG. Hope that both you and OH soon manage to shake it off.

NTH - we were on South Cliff Farm near Lincoln. It’s our local bolt hole for easy weekends straight from work.
Glad we made the decision to come home. The wind is just starting to pick up here. I don’t think we would have got much sleep tonight in the van.

Interesting story OP, hope somewhere takes it on. We used to go to Finningley airshow, and can recall the display where a Victor demonstrated refuelling a Vulcan.

Storm happening here, wild winds and rain. Unexpected little bonus in garden though.......surprisingly, lots of birds are out and about, on feeders, having a drink, darting in and out of shrubs and hedges. Amongst them, a Blackcap. Never seen one in garden before. A happy little moment😁

We're near the 70 mph winds speeds now, can't do much except look at the trees swaying. We've got birds feeding too TDA amazing how they hang on in this weather.

I enjoyed hearing about Nellie's river  walk, we did the same a couple of years ago, in the summer, didn't quite make it to the coast.

Very strong winds here but no wet stuff.  Parts of Norfolk have power cuts so candles and torches to hand.  Hope Nell makes/made it OK.  Anyone else travelling take care.

I'm sure there will be some foolish folk around who want to see how rough the sea is and get too close.  Me I'm going to stay in and watch a good b&W film

I have got Mum and Sis coming for Sunday dinner, it’s only a couple of miles, but going to be an interesting drive. That’s if Mum isn’t blown off her feet getting to car. She lives at the top of the town’s highest hill! 😲 so it will be stove, casserole, and just generally laughing for us this afternoon.

Like everywhere else it's blowing a hooley out there. Our front guttering has pulled the sofa board away and all is hanging loose and we've a few panels missing. Had  to venture into the garden to put the bird feeding pole up for the little darlings.

Funnily enough Mrs WN won't let me up a ladder to see if I can secure the guttering. She came over all lovey dovey and said I was worth more to her than the guttering. Ah. Sweet.smile
