Late start today, Rosa had her first walk at 0835, thought it was windy ,overnight , lots of crashing and banging ,  it seems with tree branches on cars, plenty of tree branches in the road, also care needed when on our walk as there are many ancient trees, that tend to be suceptable to losing branches in windy conditions, undecided

The wind has got even stronger now and the Fire and Rescue service have been in our road making "safe" several of the 8ft walls that are boundries to most end houses, two have collapsed ,ours is so far intact as it was damaged and then reinforced after the Michael Fish "incident"surprised

Blowing a hooley here as well and getting worse.  No rain yet though.  We are going to spend the day indoors and catch up on indoor jobs.  Such a change from yesterday when we had blue skies and sunshine with not a breath of wind. I hope everyone stays safe, especially those away in their caravans.  Take care nellie and travel safe.

Edit:  I spoke too soon. The heavens have just opened and we have teeming rain as well as the high winds.

Very windy here, a day for staying in I think. Plus our normal walk of round Clumber Lake is off limits as the park is closed. Too much chance of getting clobbered by a stray branch in any event.

I like the way the BBC app people just keep moving the peak wind speed forward. An hour ago we should have been starting to reduce by 12:00 but now is 13:00.😂

The tits including the pair of long tailed ones are still managing to cling onto the fat ball feeder, which has ended up at a very odd angle.😂

We have just cancelled our family lunch. Way too dangerous to venture out here. All sorts flying around in wind, and very heavy rain. I have a very big terracotta pot with a climbing rose in it. That has just gone flying off stone column at bottom of steps onto lawn. It’s way too heavy to lift. Don’t think it’s broken though hopefully.😱

Horrendous weather here on the east coast - am guessing that wind speeds must be around 60 mph with horizontal rain and gutters that are overflowing!  Just read that the Humber Bridge has been closed to all traffic - for only the second time since it was opened.  Managed a dog walk on the beach this morning, but I doubt that the "Princess' will want to venture out in this, this afternoon!

Decided to stay put for the now, but hopefully the winds will have dropped somewhat by tomorrow morning and we can continue on our travels.

OH nearly got blown over during our morning walk, but thankfully we managed it without any mishaps, getting back before it rained. So far we've not had the heavy downpours that others are experiencing.

Stay safe all that are out and about.

Mrs WN was correct in stopping you having another adventure with a ladder. Just hope that the wind doesn't cause too much damage.

Wise move Nellie. Or not, if you see what I mean😂 All sorts of places and things closed or cancelled, although stations like Edinburgh Waverley and Euston are having an interesting time. Bad day to need to travel. There’s a very funny photo of Donald Trump doing the rounds after he got caught in a gale. Not hurt in any way, but he needs to check out his makeup better! Not quite got the blending in around the hair line mastered🤣

Very grey here, now raining but not like richardandros describe 😱, very strong gusts too.

Lost our weather vane, it pulled down the centre part of the shed edging, luckily just the diamond, bent the badgers nose and the E! Half the rear roof trim of shed is lying on the grass. Hope your post is in tact takethedogalong.

Should be at Southend to see the Russian Ballet perform The Nutcracker. Just getting ready to leave - phone call to say they have damage to the roof both performances cancelled. They'll be touch regarding rescheduling but concentrating on contacting folk before they travel. Quick scrabble in the freezer meal ingredients as we planned meal out! Thank goodness for 'leftovers' which I freeze so we wont starve. I'll pack the NZ parcel which was tomorrows job and stitch raglan arms to cardigan mum was knitting when she died so i can pick up the neck. That should be fun as I've always needed her assistance before 😂.

Very little activity outside on foot or vehicle, the odd dog walker or car. Over the road's bin store made quite a racket as it toppled, I think it might have caught the corner of their car! He's popped out to remove anything likely to 'travel' but that's all for now. Hopefully the weight of the bins inside will hold it down.

Son received a speeding ticket, thinks his number plate has been cloned, as he was at work having shared a lift to and from work so his car on the drive. Has to send photos of his car and they'll investigate. Vehicle was in another town and county! Contacted police on 101 they take no action in these matters...........

Stay safe folks whatever you're doing, especially those sitting it out in their Van's.

Edit sensible decision nelliethehooker stay safe and totally agree that Mrs WN was right! Takethedogalong I've seen that photo made me laugh and he still dismissed it as a fake photo 😂😂😂

Late start this morning, didn't get home until after midnight, good party last night at our local pub with friends.

Weather as predicted very windy and some rain although the sun has made an appearance today. OH said that there are a couple of trees down in our local park.

Listening  to Johnnie Walker on the radio this afternoon and he has just given us belated mention for OH's and sons birthday last month. surprised

Wise decision  to stay put Nellie, and those who decided to travel home early.

Very sensible of Mrs WN not to let you go up a ladder Wherenext. smile

Must go out, ( Bravely undecided )  and top up the tubular feeders with fresh seeds, nut hearts and suet shrapnel  !! Quite comical really watching the gulls, beaks to the wind, pretending to be hovering, but actually flapping like blazes for a few seconds before giving up and gliding on the gale back into the trees  !!

    Nice to hear your Good Lady has shewn you her tender side, WN, But just check if you can when your insurance policy payments are due   money-mouthsealed.  Must say tho, personally, these days  I only use real ladders when they are lying flat on the garage floor  ! { And I ain't got a garage  wink }

We had to cancel an invite out to our daughter for Sunday lunch, too many trees down etc. The wind speed has dropped to the 40s now so let's hope the recycling bins don't end up over the road and far away...wink

It’s bad up here. Lots of flooding, not where we are but further North in Yorkshire. We had a bit of a lull at 3.30pm, but we have a crashing thunderstorm and torrential rain at the moment. OH set off with pooch for his evening walk, arrived back 5 minutes later drenched and battered from hailstones!

I am keeping myself amused reading Jay Rayner’s restaurant reviews.😂

Sounds like many of you have had it far worse than we have.  The wind was strong, but we have had worse, and right now it is calm.

Lot of rain overnight, but we heard nothing as our bedroom is downstairs at the back and well sheltered.  Upstairs in the lounge it was a big noisy at times!

Been down at DD's all day, hopefully no damage at home, we will not know till the morning

Thanks for the comments, we're glad that we didn't have to travel today. We had a very heavy and windy rainstorm in the early afternoon, and then the sun came out so managed another dry walk with Flyte.  The wind had died down for a while but it's blowing again at the moment.

It seemed to calm down a bit later this afternoon.  I haven't had a good look outside, but it seems we got away with just one fence panel broken.

Brian's all joked out now so it's time to get serious.

Seems to have been reasonably quiet in south Cheshire, windy yes, wet yes, but all within what we expect in late winter. I've not heard excessive sirens ( the Fire Station is only about 250 - 300 yards away across the grassed area ) and the Police & Ambulances pass  the end of the Avenue so I'm assuming it's been just a normal Sunday round here.

Hoping it has been at least the same for all of you, especially those out on the road or on site.

Pausing in my ( Several !! ) year long updating & checking of my elderly camera slides when I peeped out of the window to see neighbour working merrily away on repairs to his fence panels, when I noticed the rain has stopped  !!  By 'eck it's snowing / sleeting  hard in south Cheshire surprised --  could be the start of something garrrrrstley I think.

Hope all you out there are warm, dry & safe

After 2 days of blocked nose, painful sinuses and generally feeling rough today I'm feeling much better. Still got a head full of cotton wool though, had a good nights sleep last night so guessing I'm on the mend.

Seems you guys down south have had it much worse than us. We had high winds for a couple of hours but as Kj said we've had worse. Heavy rain at at times and some of the burns are full, might be some flooding in some places but ok here.

We have had snow on and off all day, some of the showers were 'white outs' but then when it stops it doesn't take long for it all to disappear. Forecast is to get very cold overnight and into the next couple of days with more snow even at low levels so it might get interesting for a awhile.

Went to dentist and hygienist this morning for my 6 mth check up, nothing needs to be done so back again in 6 mths.

Did a good shop after dentist so we can pull up the drawbridge and  stay nice and warm indoors.

Stay safe all those venturing out.

Helen: I usually listen to Johnny Walker on Sunday afternoons but for various reasons I didn't yesterday - how maddening I would have loved to hear your Birthday tribute to Trevor and your son.

We escaped quite lightly with the storm.  Just a few bird feeders and bird boxes blown around the garden so OH has spent the morning mending and cleaning them all but not many birds about other than the pigeons - nothing seems to deter them! The weather was quite pleasant this morning but about an hour ago we had a horizontal hail storm which has now turned to snow surprised

Icy squalls with very strong winds here, in between sunshine and blue skies. Two days ago our friends set off for their special Caribbean holiday, their flight was cancelled so they've spent a weekend at Gatwick and now back home, managed to rebook but it sounded like a nightmare all round! I'm quite glad to be at home. Got out a Canadian cook book and used our last homegrown pumpkin to make tray bake cakes (a bit like carrot cake, looks ok but haven't tried it yet! wink) The Canadians use tinned pumpkin, whilst us Brits have to do it the hard way!!

Hope you continue to feel better TammyG. Seems like a good dollop of snow is on the way in some places.

A nuisance to lose fences JVB, I expect there's been a run on fence panels after this weekend.

Keep those birds fed Brian, you're doing a good job!

    Thanks brue.

Oh brue how disappointing for your friends, I can fully sympathise with them after our recent experience.

Snow back on here but the ground is too wet for it to stick just now but if it does freeze then it will be a different story.

Next doors cat fast asleep on a throw, on the carpet at my feet. Cats certainly know how to make themselves at home.
