Wherenext Mr Goldie does a twin, but he lives just over the hill. Not that he's over the hill.

ABM - yes, society ties.  Jackets, bodywarmers umbrellas etc also available. And pin badges (he had to borrow one for the photo as it was in another jacket.)

And to show that some of us improve with age, this is me in 1989 when Henry's Dad was President. He was a widower so I accompanied him. It's an awful photo as I was dragged from my sick bed to go.

The wind finally died down in the early hours. Torrential rain at the moment.

WN Mr Brue doesn't have a twin in Cumbria but he has lovely twin sisters in Warwicks. wink

Dennis is still blowing hard here, it dropped for a wee while earlier but is now back in force. We've lost one of the tv antenna on the roof. Its not the main one so no big problem, just the one for the 'kids' bedroom.

OH gone to visit his Mum this afternoon and will drop into Screwfix on his way home to pick up a new antenna, once the weather is decent he can go up on the roof to fit it.

I'm having a couple of hours 'me' time, I've got a bit of sewing to do and dinner to prepare other than that I can please myself.smile

The A9 was closed between Kier roundabout and Broxden last night for awhile due to flooding. Lots of minor roads also flooded, thankfully it appears to have stopped raining, we even have puddles in our garden, never had that before.

Hope Nellie and everyone else who are out in their vans are safe and warm.

Nice clear pale blue sky with a few bits of white cloud over south Cheshire and not at all cold.  Birds scoffing any and everything I put out . Seems like a lull before the storm sort of day  but I hope denis has not got a return ticket !!

TammyG ensure that your OH takes great care up on the roof,  or we might be seeing him on one of the ambulance programmes on T.V.  !!

There has been since about 1500 hrs it seems Dennis has has gone away? so Rosa and i have been out on our long walk (about two miles)via the fields and woodland ,(sheep still marooned) met up with a couple of other dog walkers, and we noticed water was coming up from the ground and running out of the woods , ,across a road .towards the cricket pitch,,i have just had a call from one, who thinks it is a spring that is shown on one of his old maps from before this town was built ( 100yrs this year) , that then ran down hill as a stream into the river about a mile away , if that is the case and it takes its old course , several houses are now on its old routesurprised

Hope you missed the deafening hailstorm that thundered through around 5 o'clock tonight in North East Wales. It was headed in your direction.

Still blowing hard at the moment but even though we have about £500 worth of damage we consider ourselves extremely fortunate and just count our chickens, so to speak.

Must admit I was wondering how Nellie and his better half are getting on. They may not have had a good nights sleep last night.

Strange weather, nice sunshine this afternoon and some thunder and hail just now. Must have moved south? Discovered the weather had knocked out the internet locally (water on the wires?!) so have only just got back on line with laptop.

Sorry you've had some storm damage WN. We have a damson tree leaning at an odd angle, hoping we can rope it up and keep it going. Too wet underfoot to sort it at the moment.

Looks like we'll be having visiting dog whilst daughter and partner head for family visit in Cumbria. New and old dog get on ok but "old" dog now looks enormous even though he's a small terrier!

Very gusty here from mid morning till around 5pm,  quiet now.

Took the Smart for our trip to see our son and family as it needed a good run, lots of side winds on the way down, but much better once we left their place around 4.30 pm.

Stopped off for shopping at Lidl on the way home as there is a good size one just near the Clyde Tunnel.

Callum had a great time playing with the birthday balloons and bouncing on his cousins' big trampoline.

He's always very careful ABM, its a bungalow so not as scary as a house, good roof ladder and a good ladder up to that, just wish he would rope himself to the chimney though when up there working.

I'm not letting him up there until we are back from Lanzarote laughing

Glad you had a good day with the family Kj you deserved a day off.

It was a "bit" wild on and off through the night and we had a very heavy rainstorm for a short while too. It's rained on and off during the day so we stayed on site and I managed Flyte's walks around the Nature Reserve without getting very wet. The wind did die down for a bit but it's increased again this evening, although not to the same strength as yesterday. Hope we're not woken up so often tonight. Thanks for all your concerns.

Glad all is safe and sound with you nellie. I hope things calm down a bit tomorrow, although I think we are in for a bit of a windy week.

You sound as though you had a lovely family day off KjN.

It was very windy and very wet overnight. The wind dropped a bit today but heavy showers. It is clear and cold now. We have escaped lightly compared to other areas. Poor souls. We had a lovely family meal at a local Italian restaurant this afternoon (15 of us) to celebrate various february family birthdays and our wedding anniversary this coming Wednesday. Lovely to get us all together.

Glad you had a good family get together yesterday.  We also had a family get together at our house.  My sister, brother in law, nephew and girlfriend joined us (plus our children and grandchildren.  We were still some missing, but it's the best date we could find for our 'Christmas get-together'!!  It might seem ridiculously late, but we alway meet after Christmas because dates before Christmas are impossible.  This year January has been manic too.  We thought we had better meet  even with some missing, before it became next year's Christmas do.

Anyway, after a tidy round today, we have to decide if we're going to Harbury Fields at lunchtime, or whether to lose our deposit!!  The wind seems to have dropped, but need to check for floods!!

Just checking out flooding up and down country, dreadful in some places, just doesn’t bear thinking about what some folks are now going through. We seem to have got away fairly light locally, although our station and lines are flooded once again. But the rivers are still rising.

HS2 Leeds link is planned to skirt our area, but it passes right through one bit of our locality that is still flooded/impassable from the the storm before Christmas, where the Caravan storage place was located. 🤔 Good luck with that one. I suppose this is where some of the spiralling costs are encountered, once they drill down into the detailed landscape, it recognises all the extra costs that will be encountered.

Very windy and blustery last night, surprisingly I slept well.

Woke to a bright and clear sunny day with the wind dropped, the rain however has just started again with a bit of wind, I think that's how its going to be all week for our area.

The Forth and Tay road bridges were closed for awhile last night but I think they are open now.

Lots of flooding in the Tayside area according to the tv, haven't been out of our village yet so not sure what its like locally. My sister is in a flood area, she got flooded out for 6 months back in 1993. Since then the council etc.  have built lots of flood defences along the river Tay but she still gets warnings from SEPA when its gets bad.

Feel so sorry for those affected with this latest flooding having witnessed it first hand you see just how devastated they are by it.

TTDA, it does make you wonder sometimes if the powers that be actually listen  and take note of events like this, to carry on building on flood areas is plain mad.

Millie/DSB, your family get together sounds lovely.

Our granddaughter and grandson are up here at the moment with their Mum (Dad in Portugal playing cricket) haven't seen them yet, I think granddaughter is recovering from a weeks skiing and 2 days coach travellaughing hoping to see them over the next few days though.

Other grandson is 12 today, he's also on school half term along with his sister, they are the Yorkshire ones. Just had a long chat with both of them on the phone, both doing fine smile

No internet locally so managing with phone but it's not so good, sounds like two cabinets are out of action. First time this has happened, quite strange. It can't be the wrong kind of water on the wires can it?!

The weather keeps changing, stormy again just now. Hunkering down at the moment. Hope those going to the NEC this week enjoy the visit.

Had been feeling better but had to go back to the surgery this morning. More antibiotics, the practice nurse wasn't there so I actually saw a GP, which was good, ten days to see if these work. Hope your eyes are OK Husky!

TammyG, the machine knitting sounds as though it's going well. I have had to hide my knitting from a puppy who would like to unravel it at the moment!

Yes brue machine going away fine smile hand knitting also going well, even with the cat helping laughing going to give a circular needle a try for OH's kilt hose, usually do them on 4 needles but my son says he uses circular ones and gets on fine with them.

Sorry to hear not so well again, hope the new pills work well for you.

The family get together sound fun for you all, millie and David.

My children better day weatherwise, as the sun came out and the wind has dropped. We drove over to Bungay and Beccles today for a walk round both towns. Already for the move over to Shape tomorrow.
