Had quite a good time, David. Not won the Lottery so I won't be back until later this year
, BUT I did get myself some collapsible food containers for the fridge -- each about the size of bacon rashers, but about 6 packs deep -- not that I use that much -- just giving an Idea of the size ! Also a nice bright shiny item I hope I never use -- a fire extinguisher which I'll be fitting on Sunday . Did get a couple of sore toes tho' and a bag of 6 of Snowdonia's Best
. Hope you got a good welcome home from Lizzie that young pup of yours

The roofer arrived nice and early this morning, especially as he was finished just before the wind really got up. Haven't had a chance to inspect all of the work as it's lashing down and very windy at the moment.
Nipped off to drop off some prescriptions at the doctors. Then we had to call back into town as the frames for Mrs.WNs new glasses had arrived. I left it to her after giving my twopence worth and went to the library. So, new glasses ordered and free lenses on the sunglasses. Still going to cost a bit but we consider it health spending which is necessary.

Sort of an at home doing day here. Dog walk, vets (again), then house chores. OH in garage making a new back door for outer garage. Metal frame, metal edges to door, solid wood inserts. Will be like Castle Black by the time it’s finished! That should repel any opportunists, especially when I have booby trapped inside.😈 Our tree cutters are coming Monday, so that should be entertaining.

We walked past a house in the village the other day Ttda and were shocked. The beautifully manicured 10' high leylandii hedge had been ripped out, dismantled and was no more.
The owner was coming out to walk her beautiful Staffy so we stopped and asked her what had happened.
"Only taken me 27 years to make him think it was his idea and a brilliant one at that" she said with a knowing smile. "He's not always the quickest thinker".

Another interesting and finally expensive day again. Visited Blythburgh Priory Church to see the angels, then onto Wenhaston to view The Doom in the church there. After lunch a couple of walks, one along Tinkers Walk by Walberswick Nature Reserve and a final one around Walberswick itself. On the way back to the van in avoiding an oncoming car I drove onto a deep pothole and punctured a front tyre. Managed to make it back to site but then had to put on the slim spare and drive into Lieston for a new tyre. Decided to replace both front ones, so another hole in the budget.

That’s bad news Nellie. Sadly you are usually on top of one before you realise. Hope you enjoyed the earlier part of your day.
I loathe Leylandii WN, can’t see any good reason for it to exist😂

What a day Nellie! Lovely neck of the woods you are in but some of the roads around there aren't the widest. So we're not the only ones leaking money. Hope the rest of the trip is trouble free, especially after having to sort the car out at the beginning.

Been a fairly quiet week, although took delivery of a new computer at work, it is still however still in the box! Not looking forward to transferring over all the accounts and business stuff.
Had a shopping trip to the retail park and managed to find new outfit for the princely sum of £7.50
Well pleased.
Sorry to hear about the tyres Nellie, the roads in our area are full of pot holes too.
Glad your roof is sorted Wherenext, our son has discovered a few leaks in their new house with all the rain we've had. They have a roofer coming to take a look tomorrow.

I thought at first that it had, but once the new tyre was fitted it felt fine. I suspect that it was the tyre looking pressure that made it feel out of alignment. I'll get it checked when we get back home.

Mine didn't cost that much Freddie, but I had to make do with what was available as I didn't want to drive round on the skinny over the weekend. I'll have a word with my tyre guy when I get home and see what he says regarding them. Might get a matching set for the rear of he gives them the thumbs up.

Yes we saw some very interesting churches. The hole was full of water so I'd no idea if was as bad as it was or I'd driven higher up the bank to avoid it, and taken the chance.
WN, glad to hear that your roofer turned up and did the job. Hope that all the leaks are now sealed. Enjoy your trip away and mind the flooding. Don't want to hear of you floating away down the river.

When I changed mine, they were the original tyres, Continental, that had covered 25,000 miles. I had some Avon’s fitted, and so far so good, but no conclusions as yet. I always think (rightly or wrongly) it’s worth it to pay a bit (?) more for quality/branded tyres.

Well the new kitchen is finished. yippee! The fitters spent their final day on site yesterday. They have made a nice job of it. There have been a few issues along the road but they have been solved to our satisfaction. Still some painting to do. Getting used to how all the new appliances work, particularly like the one hour 60 degree wash program on the new Neff dishwasher, seems to handle most situations. Started to unpack all those boxes which we used to store things in. Because of the limitations of the power supply we opted for an Induction Hob which unfortunately means that we have had to throw out a lot of pans which are made of aluminium which won't work on that type of hob. Some of them probably needed replacing anyway. Still a load of rubbish in the back garden but a new Hippo Bag is on order and the fitters will return to fill it up when it arrives. We are glad that it is over as nice as the results are. It is very strange having lots of workmen in the house whilst you are trying to live in it!!!

I am also a believer in buying decent tyres. We have a Volvo V70 that eats tyres but I always get Yokohama’s for it and they are good a bit expensive but worth it. We replaced the front ones a couple of months ago will do the rear ones before we head off on our main summer holiday which is a 900 miles trip with the van in the back.

Glad to hear it’s finished DK, sounds very nice. Induction is a good choice. I chose a complicated range sort of cooker that needed electrics sorted, so stayed with a gas hob, which suits me fine, but next time it will be induction, there’s next to no cleaning!

Great to hear that so many CTers have been "inducted " into doing the cooking at home at least, even if not when away in the 'van { Several giggles to follow !!
}
A good friend fell foul of one trick with his very first induction hob. He was told that he could use a metal disc on the hob to avoid having to change the pans. Unfortunately he wasn't warned to shift it off the hob when he moved his pans. He forgot that the disc would carry on being heated when the pan was moved. He also forgot that he'd need somewhere safe to put the hot disc anyway. Totally understandable 'cos he was only a qualified Sparky

Re induction hobs. It’s worth paying a bit more for decent pans, imo. We bought some ‘Stellar’ pans which are quite heavy. We’ve since bought a few odd pans (frying pan etc) that state they are suitable for induction hobs, but frankly they’re rubbish by comparison. The frying pan requires full power just to get it going.

Blowing a stink here on the East Yorkshire coast - much worse than the so-called 'storm' Dennis which never really materialised. Just been out in the car which weighs over 2 tons and could certainly feel it.
Also finished sorting out the caravan alarm which, due to the violent weather of late had been giving quite a few false alarms. Went into the control box and soldered leads for an external, rather than internal tilt sensor, and it seems to have cured the problem. I was a bit concerned because soldering onto PC boards isn't an easy job, but it turned out to be fairly straightforward. Feeling a bit pleased with myself but I got excellent help from Ron at Haegil alarms whom I can thoroughly recommend.
