Very cold here overnight, misty too, but sun soon came out and it has been a decent day.

Down at DD's house, some DIY earlier but now have best T shirt on and awaiting arrival of the in-laws to celebrate the New Year.

We are staying over till tomorrow so have brought our sleeping bags as the spare room is full of "stuff"

Hope you all have a good Hogmanay, and wishing everyone good health, happiness, and many days Caravanning/MHing in 2020!

The last day of 2019 has been absolutely awful for our little community. A much loved neighbour passed away very unexpectedly this morning, leaving his partner devastated, and everyone shocked. He was a kind, generous soul, full of character, who loved and lived a rather simple life. Going to be very much missed.

Good wishes to all for the new year, and decade.

Brightish day here so walked down the river to the beach.  Not as many people around as I thought there would be but sure the seafront will be crowded tomorrow.  Happy new year all 🍻🍺🥂🍸

Push some of it a few miles north. It's been grey and murky most of yesterday. Don't want to start the New Years with an attack of SAD.

TTDA that’s very sad news and such a shock for you all.
We didn’t stay up last night but heard all the fireworks going off at midnight. Wishing you all a Happy New Year whatever it brings.

The fireworks started about 7pm, with breaks until well after midnight 😲 poor pets and wildlife! Some bangs were loud enough to make me jump!

Wishing you all a happy healthy and peaceful 2020.

Woken to a chilly 2c foggy morning luckily no plans so another day to cosy up.

Stayed up to see the London fireworks on TV, only one lot here which I watched too. Woke up late due to another dark damp morning. Must get up, having a lie in with my cough and the cat!

Sorry to hear your news TDA, we live in a close knit community and share events too.

Will attempt a local walk later, a lot of festive food has been ingested. 🎉

Happy New Year to all.  Let's hope we have some good caravan/ motorhome outings in 2020.  Just to start the ball rolling, I've just booked 3 nights at Tewkesbury in March.  We'll be going away much sooner than that, but depending on what happens at the time.  Hope to get at least one mini-trip in during January, if not a couple....

Well A Happy New Year To All Our Readers  wink

Just had a phone call from aged sister telling me that all the visitors to her Daughter's " Come and see my new born Grandson " afternoon had got home safe & well image. But, alas, there is one who did not see the New Year in with a smile. 'My gt nephew went out for an easy meal since he'd been working yesterday ( he's an 'on call'  gas engineer ) came home & went to change when he was struck down by the Flying Appendicitis !  No early warnings, no previous pain, but I'm told he was ordered straight to A & E , Bulled up, Bedded Down, First job in the Operating theatre today.surprised.  All went well apparently and he's now recovering and a pound or so lighter  !! Who needs 'Resolutions' to lose a bit of weight I ask myself.wink.

Do so hope your Resolutions get a more normal and sympathetic result !!

Well so far a quiet New Year, no visits to hospital this decade! Even started thinking about sites for the summer.

Would you like to hear about my Christmas emergency appendicitis when I was a teenager...my mother appeared at my bedside near midnight just as I was going into theatre (she had been out for the night, my father went in the ambulance with me.) Her first motherly comments to me were...

    "your feet are dirty!" tongue-out

So sorry to hear your sad news tda. What a terrible shock.

We decided to go to choral  evensong at the Cathedral yesterday evening as there was a visiting choir from Holland. They were fantastic. Such a lovely ending to the decade. We woke to a rather dull and grey morning today but went for a walk and met up with some friends from our old walking group for a coffee. Lovely catch up.

The fireworks round here started about 9.30pm and went on until well after midnight. Very loud and really spooked our poor cats ☹.

Same from too tda, not the way one wants to start a new year off.

We were the same ADD, and fortunately they only lasted for about 30 mins after midnight, however they did start just as it was getting dark and continued on and off till 12:00. Fortunately we only had a few very loud bangs so Flyte wasn't too bothered.

Sounds like a lovely evening that you had millie.

Glad that your gt nephew is fine after his op. Great service yet again from the NHS.

Fine start to the day but it did cloud up in the afternoon, however we had more dry walks. Can't see that being the case after the weekend, unfortunately. Spent part of the afternoon constructing a set of steel shelving which we intend to use a a bookshelf. Another set to put together tomorrow.

Off to Devizes within the next few minutes, to collect our youngest daughter from boyfriends house.  Tonight is our first Brewood Singers practice of the New Year, so a bit of a busy one here today.  Have a good day everyone.

Back to the "work" today, hopefully to install worktop, sink, plumbing and washing machine.  Plumbing parts to be picked up on the way there.

Dull and damp here, forecast says bad weather coming in from the NW.

They had the new years day fireworks from Cromer pier last evening ,it does make one wonder of the mentality of some dog owners  had their dogs with them  and quite a few who were visually distressed yell

We had a good evening in the restaurant  last night with a quiz run by the wardens quite a few attended

There has been a mass exodus from the site this morning big queues at the two  MV service points, speaking to some last night as the Bar/restaurant is now closed ,they were going home because a site without ,does not appealsurprised

Parents comments at such a time are usually to cover their worries, Brue, but with MY sense of humour I'm so busy giggling I cannot criticise anybody's comments when under stress like that  !!

    P.S. / Edit

Must not forget to thank all who said kind things about my G/nephew but HE was just the patient -- I reckon tho' most kind thoughts and thanks are due to  111 and the medical / surgical services provided by N H S .

We are having a new kitchen fitted in early February and we started making tentative steps towards that end today by removing a couple of shelves and also stripping the wallpaper off. Done the easy bit now need to soak a scrape the back layer of paper off the wall! We have decided not to have any wall tiles this time so will paint but can't really do that until the walls are skimmed. Apparently the fitters will everything except paint! As they will also be skimming the ceiling I will have to dodge them as they do other work!!! Deep joy!

    " DEEP JOY "

Oh David, David, David you've just taken me back to the ramblings of

"Professor" Stanley Unwin --  I'm now really feeling my age 'cos that was one of his  pet  phrases  innocent

Still  I'm hoping your handiwork does not go unrewarded - scraping, filling, painting  etc ooo that's enough to drive Brian into hibernation 'til the motorhoming season starts in earnest.

    Good Luck & Good D - I - Ying ( if there is such a word  undecided )

No tiles?   What will you have instead?

Tiles are so easy to clean, paint not so easy.

We were looking at glass or acrylic splashbacks for the new bit of the kitchen, but could not agree on a colour!  So meantime we just have paint, but the new areas are not food prep areas, so not much cleaning needed at the moment.

Behind the ceramic hob there will be splashback that will keep that part of the wall clean. We will also have a small upstand on the worktops. Just felt that no tiles gave a more modern look!

A large part of our kitchen is tiled as is our main bathroom. I wouldnt have it any other way. They are easy to clean and care for. Our house is 31 years old and they still look fresh.

I requested an earlier optician's appointment as I felt my eyesight had got progressively worse over the last few months. The lady I saw (who had tested my eyes last May) agreed and has referred me for a cataract op on my right eye. We shall see how that goes.

Hope that you get the cataract soon, Millie.

I didn't sleep well last night, then today I appear to caught tda's lurgy as I feel lousy. Not the best start to get 2020, however things can only get better
