I ab dot a told! (Sniff, sneeze, wheeze🤧🤒) Don't get many but the Law of Sod has decreed it shall strike Xmas Day. I survived yesterday, we all enjoyed a lovely meal, but I was certainly feeling rotten last night, so headed off early. Not too bad a night, just had a reviving hot lemon, so may shuffle around house and poke a few presents later.

    Enjoy your day everyone!😁🤧

Very good meal, and good company, yesterday at DS's house, just wish they kept the place a bit warmer.  Having a modern, well insulated house we are not used to being cold, even with thick sweaters on, plus I think we feel the cold more these days.

DS has an old stone walled farmhouse with oil CH, quite expensive to run I believe, so they have the thermostat set at 18 degrees, which is rather low for comfort when sitting watching TV IMO.  At least we were warm enough in bed!

Now almost home, stopped off at DD's house to deliver a parcel and have been asked to stay for lunch, and a heat!

Do so hope that you both are Warm, Dry and Improving --  It's a rotten time of year to be feeling less than 110% !!

I'm rather grumpy myself actually - Fed the neighbour's Guinea pigs, fed & watered the Homing pigeons so they could follow the Allex  and what do I get for all my labours ?? The  blithering football team from my home town have taken the mantra " it is better to give than receive " to silly levels and given Salford a blooming excessive three points  !! Two nil down, score to bring it to 2 -- 1 then give 'em an own goal yell Season of Goodwill is  getting taken to silly lengths these days mutter, mutter snivel sob .

Wish you better takethedogalong- timing is all......... did you have to miss the footy?

KjellNN I know what you mean about warmth, chap I worked with never had thermostat above 14c and no other heating. Whilst with our daughter in NZ when youngest granddaughter arrived in early July, our January, we froze ❄ at her house, we don't stay with them so had control in our accommodation😂, thawed out before bed and drive over with the car heater on full blast! Temperature often climbed during the day, but that damp made but feel chilly.  Houses not well insulated, set on pillars above ground and no central heating! So they have an aircon/heat pump combined, I was wearing several layers and a padded gilet indoors, she put the heat on for us but after short time it went off again as she was hot! I didn't remove anything. Granted it doesn't get too cold, frost on the car windscreen hardly needed scraping, but that southerly wind was like that from the east that we get 🌬🌬.

Glad to read others had enjoyable time. We were very quiet, it was actually a beautifully sunny day - first for weeks, so dry dog walks. Son arrived this morning no DIL 😢 wheat collection and family commitments, so lovely to see him and hear about their South African honeymoon, downside is he'll take the dog back with him tomorrow 😱😢🤐. I think we will be seriously looking for one in the new year. Definitely don't want a puppy!

    Seriously tho',  I do hope you have had as good & enjoyable Christmas as can be expected outside of the Boxing Day Sales crush !!  I've only been 50 yards from the back gate so I'm in no way capable of casting a true opinion on the Sales crush, for which Brian is truly a very happy bunny smile And NO I did not nibble at the guinea pigs lunch, honest  !! So now I'm  off to cook myself a nice Boxing Day salad with no turkey, chicken or goose in sight, but there might, just might, be a slice of Christmas pud somewhere in close proximity to my spoon, and should a certain Huskydog be peeping in, I'm seriously trying to emulate your dietary restraint of the last three months or more { Oh Yes I Am  !!  }

Hope that you are feeling somewhat better this evening, tda. If your weather's been anything like we've had today you will have been better staying inside any way. We did manage a couple of 2 ml walks without getting very wet but not the most pleasant of conditions.

Nice to see a happy farmer, Goldie.wink

Enjoy your stay on the IOW, tricky, regardless of the weather.

Day Six, food provision for masses has come to an end and tomorrow we have an invite out for lunch. Another mince pie anyone? (Whilst stocks remain. wink)

Actually it doesn't feel very festive tonight in the pouring rain but OH is happily watching Paddington whilst I'm perusing the web.

Hope you've all had a good time, anyone with a cold keep away, I seem to have caught every bug going this year! Keep well for 2020. smile

Dud Mornink. What a stinker of a cold. Didn’t see much of yesterday, happy to stew and fester in a warm bed. I did try and do a few things but just left me gasping and wheezing, so in the interest of not spreading bugs I retired. Couple of days and I will be fine. Didn’t miss the footie match Bakers, it’s not until early January, so should be fine for this. 🤧

We watched Royal Institute Xmas lecture last night, very interesting. Not usually our thing but really enjoyed it.

Hope you feel better soon TDA!

Hope the various holidays are going ok. We just have to stroll to a neighbours for lunch today, a get together with others and some new arrivals. They arrived recently at 1.30am after their removal van broke down, moving home is always fraught with the unexpected. smile

Got something exciting in the post today....humane mouse traps, OH wants to be ready for the next invader imported  by the cat! wink

Ha, the little creatures like to come in to keep warm!

One of my more unusual presents this year.......I like bats and churches. OH found this for me, based on misericord carvings in Lincoln Cathedral. Too nice to hang in garden, it will be living indoors with it’s folded wing cousin!

TTDA I like your bats. I’d like to get a bat house but I’m unsure how high it should be located? We’ve got bats that fly around our back garden at night and wondered if they would benefit from the wooden roost’s you can buy. Hope your cold improves quickly.

We’ve done all the family Christmas festivities and have now snuggled ourselves away in the caravan to a lovely CL near Louth. Just been out to a pub/restaurant lovingly called The Splash by the locals, as you have to negotiate a ford in the road to get to the pub. Due to the amount of rain we’ve had, the ford in running quite high at the moment. I held my breath as we drove through it! 😄 Tummies are full and the caravan is warm and toasty......that can only mean one thing....a snoozy afternoon. 😊

Having a bit of an "in between day" today! After a mild and sunny Christmas Day, yesterday was disappointingly damp and dreary. Today is much milder, the loss of the biting wind makes so much difference. Pottered around washing the worst of the recent accumulation of muck off the decking, now hoping for a little snooze before wine o'clock comes round again.

Tomorrow we're off to the carol service for pets at Truro Cathedral - shades of Vicar of Disley come to mind! laughing

Another dull but not too cold day, so a dry walk this morning. Grandson drove over from Blackburn to see us oldies....great to see him as it's been a couple of years since we've been able to get together. We had a very interesting, afternoon catching up on all his doings. Just a shame that he couldn't stop longer as he's to head back to London tomorrow.

Bet he was shocked finding the "Oldies" at home over Christmas Nellie.

A grey day here. We needed a few "fresh" veg for the weekend so called in at Tesco about 10 this morning. What a difference a couple of days make. Empty? We could have gone to anyone of 5 cashiers, all sitting there twiddling their thumbs.

After coffee we got out for a shortish walk to get some fresh air. Looks good for tomorrow so a longer walk called for, without too much travelling.

Having managed to migrate OH's stuff from the iPad to her new iPhone, I discover that a lot of her contacts from her old steam driven phone were stored on the SIM so I spent an hour or so manually copying them to the new one. Just have to sort out some useful apps now- bus times etc.

OH has been sorting my new phone too, all my photos are stuck "elsewhere" and I'd used the phone camera most of last year due to a problem with our main camera. frown Happy with new phone though as last one was increasingly unreliable.

Feel like I am coming out of a sniffly fug at last. Bit more energy, I can breathe rather than gasp, and the cheese grater in my throat has gone! Very quiet few days for us, we have repelled all visitors, been nowhere and done nothing, so need to catch up a bit. On the plus side, haven’t been eating too much, and I still have my presents to explore.

Its too warm outside. I don’t like it, I can see midges and slugs. Birds are doing well though.

Quick trip to DS, now I have the necessary box spanners, to tighten up his tap mountings in utility room and kitchen, now all solid.

At home, we are making butternut/sweet potato/carrot/onion/ and other things soup.  Sure it will be delicious as usual.

Otherwise relaxing, but back to DD's tomorrow to continue the good work.

SILseems to have recovered from his lurgy, fortunately the rest of us did not catch it.

Things are getting a bit soggy round here. We attempted a drive locally but couldn't get through. A lot of flood water on the Yeovil and Parrett. Stood by the old Longload Bridge. Don't know if the details are readable.? smile
