I wouldn't worry too much WN, there won't be many out tomorrow as they'll all have done there shopping today, won't they?
Many happy returns Goldie.
Hope that the cover does the job, HD, and there's no more leaks into your M/H.
Have a safe trip and a good time on the IOW, Tricky
After quite a bit of searching round we found where we'd stored the Christmas Tree, so spent a while this afternoon decorating it. I must admit that the lounge is looking quite Christmasy.

We went to a lovely Christmas concert this evening with lots of socialising and meeting of old friends the interval. We are all ready for going to N. Iteland tomorrow - or at least I thought I was. There was a message from eldest son when we got home to ask could he bring round a few 'quite small presents' for us to take with us in the morning๐ฅบ.
Hope all of you have a wonderful time whether at home or away.

Just checking in to catch up.
Sorry to read about your accident and having to abandon your trip Nellie, hope you enjoy Christmas at home.
Safe trip to NI Millie, hope you have room in your luggage for the extra pressies ๐
Enjoy your Christmas break Triky get plenty of r&r.
We have almost finished the decorating downstairs, new floor laid and it looks good. Just a bit of gloss painting to complete but it can wait until after Christmas now.
Went to a local farmers market this morning. Band playing carols and children singing in the church all very festive.
Wishing everyone a Very Happy Christmas whether home or away.

Have a great trip, R&R, Tricky and Millie, hope Father Christmas is good to you all.
Happy birthday Goldie.
TTDA, your street sounds lovely, nice to have such good neighbours.
NTH, glad you found the tree and managed to get it decorated, it does make the lounge look nice and festive.
Managed to catch the news tonight (was watching a recording of Olympia) what awful weather the south have been having, hope no one from CT has been affected.
EDIT, just seen your post H&T, a happy Christmas to you to.

Having had to return the first one due to it not charging and the refund is now back on my card, I yesterday ordered another phone for OH's Christmas present. It's going to be touch and go for it to arrive in time though.

Wasn't looking for this but somehow this came up on Google!
"Winter 2019 in Northern Hemisphere began on
Sunday, 22 December
and ends on
Friday, 20 March 2020"Up to that point I was cheered that it was going to start getting lighter each evening!!!!!

But it is going to start getting lighter DK.๐ very very slightly at first, but by February it will be noticeable. All we need now is some proper cold and snow rather than all this miserable damp. Itโs been more like Manchester over here, we are not used to all this rain East of Pennines!
Hope the phone arrives CY.
I am back from a lovely afternoon meal with a London based cousin, she was up here to sort out her Mumโs house. Meal in a lovely village pub attached to โbig houseโ where I was a student. Same old lags giving the ladies lip as in my former days, they got short shrift!

Nellie, that first lines probably akin to expecting to wake to a White Christmas Day. Went round to see Aged Sister 'cos she will be away from Monday lunch to see her latest Gt Grandchild attack his first cold turkey butty later this week
, but the traffic in and around Crewe was horrendous, As somebody ( Brue ?? ) posted recently, they must be stocking up in case W W 3 breaks out !!

Not what we are up to today - but what we have been up to during the year.
The link takes you to Twitter - but it should load OK without having to sign in, or sign your life away.
Ignore the rather annoying music!

No not Brue, it's been relatively quiet round here and in town.
Just looking in, family off to spend half a day at Longleat (Tesco vouchers) and then seeing friends over that way. The Brues have been left with the whippet till this evening, nice and sunny so a good time for a walk.
Family journey northwards tomorrow and then another lot arrive for Christmas Day.
Have a good time everyone and kind regards to all those who aren't feeling so good for one reason or another. Hope you can relax and enjoy the festivities.
Happy Christmas to you all. ๐๐โจ

Lovely video Goldie. You all get through such a lot of hard work, but I have to say I do envy a great deal of your life. Lovely being in such a beautiful place, surrounded by lots of fabulous wildlife and domesticated creatures. I fully understand the mud and muck as well, we did 22 years of hands on horse ownership! Have a lovely Christmas.....๐

A fine sunny day here at home. Went to the Fracture Clinic this afternoon to see the orthopaedic doctor & have the original plaster replaced by a full one. Job done and next appointment is in 3 1/2 wks time, sooner than I expected, thankfully. Another speedy visit, just over 90 mins from home and back, well done to our local NHA.

What a strange few days we've had, started with a phone call from our youngest son, saying that one of his cousins had been in touch on behalf of OH's SIL, could he pass on our details as she was trying to get in touch with us. Long story short, it turns out OH's eldest brother died back in July, she only realised we didn't know when we sent them the usual Christmas card
Went up to see her, she lives the other side of the river to us. Turns out she wondered why we were not at his funeral. On top of this news we also found out that OH's Mum was now back and living in Perth, not just in Perth but in the very care home that my Mum was in, though only for the last few weeks. They haven't seen each other in over 30 years, OH comes from a big family, he is the second eldest and was in his first year of the army when his parents split and both remarried. Over the years we have had infrequent contact with both sides of the family. This news came as a shock to OH but today we went to see his Mum.
SIL is over the moon to have some support and hopefully everything will work out ok. The meeting today went well with his Mum, it was really strange being back in the care home again though.
Drier day today with even a bit of sunshine, didn't last for long but it was nice to know its still out there.
Had a look online last night and saw a cruise we fancied so phoned in today and got it all sorted, not till the end of January but something nice to look forward to.
Hope all those going away or already away have a safe journey and a good trip.
Those at home for Christmas don't burn the turkey
do have a good time and be nice to each other.
Happy Christmas to all on CT

Tammygirl what an extraordinary set of events. How is your OH feeling? It must be strange to meet his mother after all this time. Hope all goes well for them.
We have spent the last two days demolishing the fitted wardrobes. All completed and one tip run done. More to go, but itโs stacked in the garage for now. The conservatory is heaving with stuff that hasnโt got a home until the new furniture arrives. We both have a sense of achievement but feel shattered.๐0 -
OH is fine thanks ADD46, he's very accepting that life sometimes doesn't go to plan. We've been together a longtime and my family really took over when his fell apart. Over the years we've met up with them at weddings etc. but close they never will be. Meeting up with his Mum today was good for both of them, they have lots to catch up on.
Time for you to have a couple of days break now, its good to get jobs done but don't over do it. Are you still going away in the van?

How extraordinary TG. How's OH taking the news of his brother? Not nice to come out of the blue even if they weren't close. You are having a Bakers2 type year. Edit - Just seen your reply to ADD.
ADD - you shouldn't have stopped work.
Glad things went well Nellie.
Had a letter at the end of last week from hospital giving me an appointment at the Cancer clinic. Still not had a discussion with a doctor so rang today and asked what the heck was going on. A letter was shown on computer as being on its way explaining that my results showed benign growths only at present but doctor not signed it so hasn't left his desk yet! They just want another scan in summer to keep an eye on things. Doctor apparently sees most of clients at that clinic!
Mrs WN can now get some sleep. Poor lass has worried herself sick. I'm rather surprised at my lack of worry. I must admit I don't tend to worry about things I can't control. Strange man.

Tammygirl what an extraordinary few days. Difficult for you and your OH - hopefully it will prove to be healing for all concerned. Must have been very hard for you to return to the home where your mum was.
Wherenext fingers crossed for you and future tests. You sound very like my OH - what will be will be. I completely understand where Mrs Wherenext is coming from - so many strings pulling in various directions, I have often thought this year it is as hard to watch and support, feeling more than a little helpless but could have huge responsibility consequences as it must be for the one going through 'events'. As you can see from the time of posting Mrs Wherenext is not alone in the wee small hours. Although thankfully I have far fewer nocturnal 'thinking' hours. In fact this is the first for months so it does pass but earlier this year and even halfway through this year, I wouldn't believe it would pass. Thoughts are with you both.
Both of you seemed to have joined me on the rollercoaster ride that has been my 2019. Let's hope 2020 will be kinder to us all and anyone else, there seem to be lots of folk, who've had a similar year.
Wishing everyone a good festive season whatever your circumstances. Especially those like ADD and HelenandTrevor who have taken on large DIY tasks ๐.

Bakers2 - what time?? ๐ฎ I hope youโre still snuggled under a duvet right now.
Tammygirl - yes we are going away on Boxing Day to Furze Farm. Itโs a slightly more expensive CL than we would normally choose but itโs Christmas. Full hard standing which is needed after all the rain weโve had here recently. OH birthday today too so more celebrating going on.๐. I hope Helen&Trevor have a break from their diy jobs too.

Had our 'second sitting' carol service last night and, having completed my role as a 'wise man', I can go back to being my usual 'thick' self. Close on 500 people over the two services which is straining our 12th century priory church a bit.
