My friend who needs short legs going loco because they've added 2 inches to their short leg length - explanation ladies are wearing higher heels.

Bakers, does this explain why my Chinos, short leg, now needs me to start wearing high heels?undecided Are they trying to attract the um.. cross high heel wearer?

Somehow, I don't think Mrs WN going to like this.

Slightly better today than yesterday, much less rain, and not as cold as last week.

Work continues slowly, all cupboards now fixed in place and first cut of   big worktop done, we now have it sitting on the units. Next is the tedious bit, getting it to fit snugly to the wall, which is far from straight!

I will work on it on Saturday and Sunday, then we will have a 4 day break from DIY for the festivities, which means I will be kept busy helping to prepare food and wrap presents instead.

Had to disconnect the water and drains in the utility room yesterday, so washing machine now out of action, OH will be bringing stuff here to launder every couple of days.

Interesting posts re M&S I did managed to find 1 pair of jeans after trying them on but did not like any others at all I do not do skinny jeans which is what most of the french wear here and also they are below the waist fit no good for me but I am pleased with ones I got although leg length not the same as they used to be so will have to adjust them it is usually OH Craghoppers trousers I have to adjust the length their short length still to long for him and he got another pair whilst in UK so that will keep me busy after xmas.  WN heels surely not ha ha.  I can find crop trousers over here that fit well and managed to get some jeans here for 6.95 euros cheap but wash very well no shrinkage either but again only 1 length so a quite a bit to take off before right length and they are standard jeans not skinny.

thanks for the replies Brue, WH, and TDA. The seafront car park there had about three cars in it.

Finally back from the day's travels, traditional metro centre outing after picking up Mrs C, it was quiet till about 5 then wow, was most of the north east there?

Seen the comments about the clothes at M&S, I was after some jeans (black ones, I think at my age I can't wear blue jeans any more) recently and tried today and it's all this skinny and slim fit,  I was going to to ask where fat size was but Mrs C stopped me. Apparently fat is called regular fit.frown

Worst pair of jeans I've ever had was Per Una from M&S, a few years ago now they we £29.50 more than I've ever paid for jeans before or since. They were  light brown, great when I got them but on first wash (30 deg) they shrunk up by about 4" and the legs twisted, also there was streaks down the legs where the dye (I think) washed out. Took them back and got my money back  but put me off Per Una.

Tammygirl- good Christmas wishes to you and yours too. I’m determined to get the removals of wardrobes finished in time to have a short break in the caravan. Only a local to us CL (about a 50 minute tow) which I can’t wait to get there and settle in for a few nights R&R.

Its been a few years now but I remember 1 year on boxing day OH and BIL taking a sledge hammer to part of the wall in the dinning room to open it up to the kitchen surprised wish I'd had a CL to go to that day laughing nothing planned for this year, not even doing the cooking as we are going to my nieces, BIL doing the driving as he can't drink at the mo, so its going to be a very lazy day. Might even con the OH into breakfast in bed laughinglaughinglaughing

Corners, where jeans are concerned there is no such thing as being 'to old' wink get a nice stretch fit straight leg dark blue jeans and they look great, to me ages to convince OH of this, finally roped in eldest son who picked up a pair and said these are what you need Dad. He now has 4 pairs all different colours. Go for it you only live once winklaughing

Cannot speak for all these 'Fashion Conscious'  CT Folks who are concerned about jeans and age ! I only know that I wear bags of various makes but leg length has not varied since Moses ( and yours truly  surprised )  was a lad -- girth is a different matter -- very different alas  !!  Simple answer I found was to take a tape measure { spring loaded Stanley Engineers variety } and measure the inside leg !!  Cords on cold days otherwise its jeans, jeans, jeans, jeans  laughing

But have to admit I was caught out by Granmama of the latest little arrival when I turned up bearing gifts for her and Granpapa  'cos I was wearing my "Merry Christmas Sweater" from a few years back and the 'Tall Elvish head warmer { with ears ! } but she had her mobile phone set to ' embarrass Uncle A B M Mode ' .  Five mins into my Here are your gifts with Love  spiel and MY phone burst into life. Mother of the baby complaining that I've just scared the poop out of her little one  and she'll remind me of that transgression when they arrive in Crewe on the 28th!!

Still I can't be perfect All the Time now, can I,  well can I  .undecided

    { Answers on a nice recycled Christmas card to :-- A B M via CT wink}

I agree with all the comments about M&S clothes.  It used to be my 'go to' store but not any more.  Their dresses are absolutely dreadful. I used to love  Per Una but they got very frumpy and now there isn't even a dedicated Per Una section in our M&S, they are just scattered about the store.  My 2 eldest grand-daughters ( ages 23 and 24) wouldn't se seen dead in M&S and my daughter and 2 DIL's never use it either. They have certainly lost their way. However when I was in town today their food department was heaving.

It has absolutely teeming with rain all day here today and although we don't have any flooding as such there is a lot of standing water.  I gather that the farmers around here haven't been able to sow any winter crops so they will have lost a lot of money and we will have to pay a lot more for food soon.

I spent the morning at the Cathedral helping to prepare 500 oranges for the Christingle service today. It was good fun as we got we got a very efficient production line going but I certainly wouldn't want to do piece work for a living!

Drier day at home thankfully, so dry dog walk before heading down to the Doctor's. It turned out that he had no record of my accident from N.Tees, so no radiographs. Seemingly they should have sent me home with some paperwork and a CD of the fracture. He suggested the quickest way to get my full plaster was to head up to local hospital's A&E!yell Thankfully it was quiet and I was in and out within an hour, having had the wrist re x-rayed and now have an appointment for the fracture clinic for Monday afternoon. Hopefully then all will be fine till the arm's healed.

So glad you've managed to get the treatment required Nellie,  slips-ups like that from N Tees can have terrible consequences for the patient.

Christmas may be starting here today. We've plans (well I have - it involves OH on a step ladder) to decorate the main room of the house. There's ancient beams (16th Century) so scope for swags and lights and large dangly things.

I've Rum Butter to make (not to be touched till Christmas morning breakfast) and a cake to decorate. Though I may put that off, as I am today one day past my allotted span of three score years and ten.

It's busy across the yard - one calf last night and another this morning. Probably because our son is away! But two heifers out of two is a good percentage.

Just finished loading the van and car - ready for the off for Christmas week at Sandringham, in the morning.  We've had the usual 'discussion' of whether or not we really need enough clothes for 6 weeks, and why do we have to transport half of Tescos from East Yorkshire to Norfolk.  As usual, I lost. Bit of comfort in the fact that we have a 360kg payload - but I fear that even that is coming under threatsurprised

Had a chuckle at your post, if you happen to have forgotten anything (Cranberry sauce?) there is an excellent large Co-op at Dersingham. We used it last July to get some cool air, it was the hottest day and the temperature was 34C I recall at 8pm. Ah happy days.

    Have a great Christmas.

Dull but dry day here, so a couple of jobs outside. OH fitted a nice rubber bumper protector to the Toyota, this should stop any scratches appearing when lifting the bikes in and out smile

Then it was onto 2 dripping gutters, both at the rear of the house (coldest due to north facing) gutters appeared to have moved as they were no on the seals, anyway now fixed and not dripping.

I got on hands and knees and resealed the inside of the shower, OH scrapped off all the old stuff yesterday.  It was ok getting in there, bit more awkward to unwind and crawl out laughing will do the outside of the shower tomorrow as that needs all the old sealant removing first.

After lunch I will go and finish the machine knitted jumper, just got the neck to pick up and knit, then sew it all together. Hopefully the first of many that I plan to do with all the wool I have left over, all going to charity.

Shhhhhhh don't tell any one but we have blue sky here 😱😱😱😱😱😱, I've even pegged out the towels 😂😂😂😂. Living life dangerously!

Mother nature has gifted us a few extra ponds and a swimming pool - but omitted the heating source of the latter. It will be dry soon, visiting dog goes at some point after Christmas 😂

Belated happy birthday Goldie, hope you were spoilt. 🎁🎂

Richardandros your post made me smile - have a great time!

Son and DIL landed safely this morning seems like they had a lovely time. Looking forward to a catch up - looks like Boxing Day but who knows with them?

Milliehull DIL was concerned about how far behind they were with drilling winter wheat, only about 20% done compared to last year, before they headed off on honeymoon at beginning of December, I think she feared she'd miss the last opportunity. Certainly not the case! Looked at fields around here recently what has been sown and germinated is yellow 😱. I fear we'll all be paying lots more for food next year - 2 opportunities for blame B***** and the weather.

Thinking I'm on top of Christmas business, just fresh veg and salad to go, might have got that totally wrong 😉 but only us and the dog on the day the shops are closed so solvable! Actually looking forward to no calls on my time for the day at least. Might pick up my knitting for an hour as hopefully local friends calling in for a cuppa later.

Take care folks enjoy the preparations 🤔

Edit guy across the road having his car valeted, chap been here 4 hours already 😯. Guy washes it very regularly. Hope he doesn't look inside ours, probably a H&S hazard, I did take it to the car wash Thursday, dog not keen 😱 but didnt have inside done due to visiting dog.....

Husky I hope you can get the motorhome fixed asap, that was what started our demise. Turned out it wasn't the roof light but pits in the aluminium.

Tidying up and cooking here, son and family arrive this evening, have also been round whippet proofing things (he's calmed down a bit Mum...ha ha.) Visiting dog seems to have arrived whilst his musician parents play at various venues. Drama with mouse in sitting room last night, OH said he'd sure he's seen one under the Christmas tree and I hoped it was his eyesight playing up, but no I spotted it heading for the TV area. (Had not long remarked that the cat was getting very good at coming through the cat flap without a sound. A useful present left for us no doubt. laughing)

Have been a bit distracted by elderly relative going into hospital (Aunty from extended family.) Eldest daughter went in the ambulance with her, she had collapsed and broken her ankle. Daughter ended up in the plaster room due to staff shortage...useful being a catering manager, you can turn your hand to most things. Unfortunately Aunty removed the plaster in the night, things are going down hill rapidly. frown

Pleased to read Nellie got home, hope the follow ups go better after the initial muddle.

Hope you are all getting on well with your festive preparations, leaking things and all those other tasks fixed. Have a safe journey if you're travelling. smile

Thanks Corners.  We've been to Sandringham a couple of times, so we know the supermarkets very well - including the huge Sainsbury's outside King's Lynn. Ros gets withdrawal symptoms if she misses going in one for a couple of days, so I'm sure we'll be visiting one or another before long (perhaps we could sell them something!).  As for having forgotten anything - we can't possibly have - can we?embarassed

    Happy Birthday Goldie.🐄🐄🎂🎂

Had a walk into town this morning to pick up a library book as they close until after New Year from lunchtime today. Unfortunately Mrs WN chose a brand new book just in. Weighed a ton! It's uphill to home. Rucksack slowed me down a bit. Lovely day though.

MiL now decided she should have bought a couple more thermal vests from M&S and would I mind if we went back tomorrow?  Sunday before Christmas? Of course I don't mind, I replied, through gritted teeth.

This is house cleaning☹️, which I loathe, the MH is a doddle in comparison. Will get that sorted between Christmas and New Year. Having said that, I sort of had a good day, downstairs is now looking good, upstairs isn’t too bad and OH has “volunteered” to tackle the swamp!

Lots of neighbourly comings and goings as well. Our little street is a hive of productivity, gardeners, jam makers, cake bakers, knitters, jewellers, Etc.. and Christmas we always swop home made treats. Boozy marmalade, a fridge cake and some Scooby snacks for the dog just been delivered! I have seeds, miniature roses and earrings planned and some homebrew for the chaps! 😁
