Thanks very much for the kind thought,OP. Mrs N isn't keen to tow the van, an although we ha Mayday our daughter has volunteered her OH for the job. We're bin to Friday as it is, and think that it would not be any problem to extend the stay if needs be. Will have to see what they say at the Fracture Clinic tomorrow too.

That is such a shame and so sad to hear that. While we were visiting the Sea life centre at Hunstanton this summer we had a great talk from one of the staff there with the 'rescue' seals who gave the same advice. As you say the more the message gets out the better.

Hope you had a reasonably comfortable night Nellie, and that things go well at Fracture Clinic. Times like this, good to be on a larger Site with lots of facilities, and not too far from hospital. Regardless, you will get help no matter where you are, Club Site or CL. Take care all of you.😊

Sorry to read your news, Nellie. Hope you get home safely.  Does this mean Mrs N will have to do the cleaning and polishing of the van before your next trip out? wink

Will get in touch with you soon.

We had a stop off in the same spot earlier this year (walking holiday memories with my Mum & Dad.) Sorry to hear about the accident, it sounds painful, hope you've had a comfortable night. Pleased to hear the family can help out, take care.

Got to abandon a Christmas concert tonight, don't think the audience will appreciate the coughing and sneezing, OH might go with daughter instead.

What a damp dark day, roll on the 21st and the turn of the year!

(oops it's the 22nd this time round.)

Sorry to hear about the accident Nellie - hope you soon recover.  I was impressed that your OH was just 'not keen' to tow the van - there is no way Ros would even attempt it (or I would let her!).  That's why I took out Extra Care with Mayday, so that we get a driver if anything should happen to me - otherwise we'd be completely stuffed. Good to hear that you've got your own 'extra care' arrangements within the family.

Just finished loading the van ready for Sunday's trip to Sandringham.  Really looking forward to it and it seems ages since we were last away (October).  Just have this nagging feeling I've left something out after we emptied it before taking it for repair last month. Oh well, suppose I'll soon find out!

Had a day off today and went to Dundee. Pretty busy everywhere but so many of the shops now closed up and what is left is either just the same as any other town or its the cheap pop up shops full of rubbish.

So I didn't get the inspiration I was looking for or even Christmas cheer, all we came away with was bird food embarassed at least the weather was better on the way home, we left in rain and arrived back home with a bit of sunshine.

Called in to see BIL who is now doing well, he can't remember collapsing at home last Thursday or the ambulance men coming and taking him to hospital.

NTH, hope you had a good night and it went well at the fracture clinic.

Had a chat with Nellie who seems sorted and will be home on Thursday. Offered to make some paper chains for home Christmas decs as obviously they've never thought they would need any! Offer declined!smile

Decided we needed a decent walk so bright and early we set off for Llandudno. 0° when we set off and overcast but a balmy 3° and sunny when we arrived. Parked on the promenade and walked through town and up and onto the Great Orme via a clockwise route that enabled us to get fantastic views over the estuary towards Snowdonia and a snow topped Snowden itself. Really enjoyed the walk which gave my lungs a good workout. Stayed sunny until we nearly got back to the car when we had a sharp shower.

The views over the hills and down the estuary towards Conway castle were worth the effort.

Good to hear a plan is in place Nellie, been thinking about you throughout the day. Will be strange for you spending Xmas at home, but you will no doubt still be out and about if you can. Main thing is to get your paw sorted and back to full health😁

Steady day for us, pooch walking, Mum sitting, few home chores. OH showing signs of a cold, not usual active self. Fingers crossed it doesn’t get any worse.🤞

Good to hear your family can assist with your plans Nellie and very best wishes for you pulling the wishbone next week  wink.

Had a most productive day today starting with visit to aged sister who said " No shopping this week ! " so I just dropped of a few prezzies for those I will not see this year. Was halfway thro' my coffee when Tilly the demented whippet arrived with the Eldest son on t'other end of the leash. General chat took place 'til the mutt got close to the presents which got her owner out of his seat. Would not have been too bad but he decided that he'd noticed yours truly really could benefit from a haircut embarassed. Nice to have friends in the family ain't it frown.  Anyway after a few reciprocated quips Aged One decided she really did want me to drop her off in town for some 'Personal Shopping ' Probably more chocolates I guess !wink

Still I got home for early lunch & to spruce myself up for Diabetes Clinic this afternoon.  Arrived15 mins before appointment due, called in ten mins early and got my fair share of  Diabetes Sister's Appointment Time. 45 mins in total !! I think I mentioned elsewhere that if I made her smile / laugh she could not be over critical of me --  I WAS WRONG !!  Got a right going over & ordered to return with much improved figures in three ( 3 ) months. At least my BP was ok at 130 over 65,  and I got the anti - shingles jab as well. I'm working on the assumption now, that if I have to go back in three months for more er  er  'guidance I should be fit enough to get thro' the summer reasonably well.  So  time for play on here for a while, then early bed to dream of an enjoyable, tasty but sugar free Christmas thus Brian says " Night Night , Sleep Tight y'all "

I am just getting caught up on here after a few days off.  So sorry to hear about your accident Nellie.  I think being unable to drive home is a worry that most of us in the caravan fraternity have. I am so pleased that you have a plan in place and wish you well for your journey home.  It will be a different Christmas for you both but I hope it is a good one.  I also hope that you are not in too much pain. I am glad you managed to get a speedy appointment with your GP.

I am so sorry to hear that you are feeling so poorly brue. I do hope that you feel better soon.  This incessant wet weather isn't helping with these nasty cough and cold bugs.  Take care.

Bakers2 I am pleased that you are getting your Mum's paperwork and funeral arrangements sorted out. It is not going to be an easy Christmas for you but I hope you have a good time. Will you be seeing your son and and DIL or are they still away?

I have had a busy week as has everyone else.  Cards are now written, present buying completed and presents wrapped up - phew!! I have spent some time seeing old friends that I haven't seen for a while. Some with various family and health problems. Also some extra duties at the Cathedral - lovely to see so many visitors. Kings School (the Cathedral school) were rehearsing for their Christmas concert today.  The solo of Once in Royal David's City was wonderful and brought a tear to my eye.  It is the Business and Shopper's Carol Service tomorrow lunchtime which I will be attending with a friend smile  I now just have to get organised for our trip to see the N. Ireland family for Christmas, we leave on Sunday.

Glad to hear you've had an enjoyable time at the Cathedral, MillieH 'cos it's so easy for the 'Staff' to get overworked as well as overlooked at this busy, but so essential part of the Church Year. I have to admit though that the structural elements of the buildings seem capable of allowing even a raucous old pub choir to sound rather good in the Christmas Season.  Even yours truly's voice  was deemed 'acceptable' in his far off youth  innocentwink

OOPS most remiss of me not to ask you, Millieh, if the newly named Arch Bishop of York will be inviting any of your Diocese to the Enthronement ??

Thanks both for you concern. It will make a difference being home for Xmas, we'll have to get the old tree out from the loft, and some decorations up....Then again perhaps not.

Hope your trip goes well to NI, millie.

Good to hear that your BP is nice and stable, ABM

Interesting so many of you are still writing Christmas Cards! Ours have long been sent off or delivered. With some we send a small note of what has happened in the last year, what the late Simon Hoggart of the Guardian used to make great fun of  annually in his newspaper column, he even wrote a very funny book about them! He called them "Round Robins". However we do have a small pile of cards all ready to go to neighbours on the estate which we will leave to nearer Christmas albeit it's only a week away. Often wonder if we embarrass some of them as usually as soon as we deliver ours there is a flurry of cards through the letter boxwink

Wet, dull and dreary day.  Finally got the Christmas cake made just the decoration left to do.  Went to a concert of Carols and Christmas music performed by the Norfolk Fellowship Brass at local church this evening, really uplifting

Finally got our cards written and ready to post, we are usually at the last minute with cards.

I'm not that fussed over Christmas and would quite happily ignore it. I don't mind doing Christmas dinner, or the nice food that you wouldn't normally eat but 1 day is more than enough. It seems nowadays that it starts in the middle of November and goes on until January the 4th. yell

WN, your day out sounds lovely, we have snow on the hills just north of us, if you know the A9 then just after Dunkeld. As you drive up the A9 to get to our village the hills near and far are all covered with snow. As yet no warning of snow gates shut but it won't be long before we see those signs. Hard frost forecast for tonight -3c here but down to -6c in the glens.

NTH, glad to hear yo have everything sorted to get home, must admit its one of the things I am not happy about going back to a caravan.

I was quite happy to drive the MH but tow a caravan, not on your ne---- laughinglaughing

    WTG

When I write ours I am always mindful that he could could be looking down on mesmile Where I can I always try and introduce a degree of humour in my writing of such notes so hopefully they are not taken too seriously!  One year I decided not to send the notes out and I was surprised how many people missed them. Sending them out does tend to encourage the receivers to reply so we get more news back, whereas without the notes I suspect it would just be a card. One friend from way back writes his notes on his Christmas Card in minuscule writing and sometimes we have to read around bends! He was a map maker at the Ordnance Survey which might explain his writing?

Speaking of Christmas cards, I think I've found another difference between males and females, (apart from the obvious one of course - that males do the aquaroll smile)

We received some free Christmas cards from Sainburys a pack of twenty I think as part of their nectar membership. I thought they were lovely good quality and said to Mrs C that that would save buying them. Apparently I was looked on in horror that I would even consider sending them - people will know they were free I was told.

Then last night I met a (female) neighbour buying cards this morning. I made some quip about had she run out and she told me she always buys the cards in January at reduced rates but when she was writing them she noticed that on the back it said the charity they were supporting and more importantly the year - 2018. She said that she couldn't possibly send them as people might notice she had bought them cheap last January. I said it wouldn't matter at all

Now I've spoken to Mrs C and she agrees with neigbour !!! But any male I've spoken to since agrees with me!

I’m with you......if it’s a card, it gets sent. Mum and I bounce back a gorgeous card she made years ago, bless her she can’t even recall making cards nowadays, but she always has a laugh at this one. We don’t bother with an envelope......embarassed

I’m not a fan of cards. Not enough reaches the Charities, and I’d rather give a plant, or a calendar. The last far longer. I do send a few long distance cards, with a note in, but as a family, my side are not card fans. OH’s family however.....they send thank you cards thanking you for sending a card! Drives me mad......🤯

Have to sheepishly admit that I've just bought next years Christmas cards from the rspb, they always reduce them now and I have to buy quite a lot. (Never noticed a date on them, will take a look but some are repeated anyway. smile)

ps when my Mum died last year I received two "free" cards, identical, from two different people and the "thought" didn't count for quite as much, does that sound silly? One even had a birthday greeting to me as well as condolences! I ask you....what is wrong with grown ups today?! wink

My daughter in law, as well as being a teacher is also a painter (commissions of animals, mainly cows and dogs). This year she has branched out in cards (not necessarily Christmas themed), using her paintings and photographs, so I have bought and sent them.

No letter or essay - just a sheet with six photos with highlights of our year.  Samples below.

We usually buy ours, indeed it is OH who buys them, when they are on special offer, either a 3 for 2 or in the sales, and we always have too many for just that year,  so they get put in the big mixed box and used up a few years later, so dates would not bother us, or anyone we know.

Do some people really throw away unused cards every year just in case their friends might think they had bought them in a sale?  Very wasteful, plus they should think of the trees cut down to make the cards in the first place.

All cards now written, and posted, including a good number of "Christmas Newsletters", written by OH, enclosed for friends and relatives who we do not see regularly, it is good to keep in touch.

For my family in Norway, I have to write a "Christmas e mail", which is not going too well, if only I could persuade OH to do that too!

We are down at DD's house, as usual and she has just rung to warn us that SIL has been sent home from school as he has a terrible cold and cough, obviously a bad idea to go to a school of some 1200 pupils and spread it around.

He has strict instructions to keep away from everybody else and go to bed to rest.  Little Callum has a cold too, so unlikely we can completely  escape all the bugs.

According to Which, Charity Christmas Cards raise £50 million pounds a year! That is quite a sizeable amount of money. Retailers have different methods of donation distribution, some give a percentage and some give a lump sum. Interestingly the likes of Moon Pig don't contribute to charities! On our travels we often end up near an RNLI shop so we always buy some of their cards. If you buy cards direct from a charity they obviously make more money.

Didn’t know it was that much, that’s good. I always try and buy RNLI Xmas cards, especially the Giles one’s. Never used Moonpig etc.... Have bought the odd calendar via one of those make up your own online companies.
