OH has gone to Argos after a special Christmas request came in on the phone from youngest grandson. Grandson must have been up very early as usual and was about to go on the beach with his Dad and the whippet. OH has gone in search of the latest piece of "long range firing equipment" suitable only for children...and their daft parents...laughing

I can hardly speak so I'm glad to be indoors, hope anyone else suffering the same makes a good recovery in time for the festivities.

Good luck to him on a Sunday just before christmassurprised

After a power cut on site the early hours of Sat that took out half the site including the effluent pumps ,resulting in toilet block having to be closed, all the site staff were out at 0130 trying to isolate the cause, but to no avail so emergency sparky called at 0630 ,who then got stuck in a traffice jam so did not arrive untill after 1030  (much mutterings from some membersundecided)

The power was back on when we got back from a day out with friends in Northamptonsmile

Hope our sick passengers recover soon.

Lovely sunny but cold morning here so we took to delivering the cards around the village on the way back from a walk. MiL gave us hers but she didn't know the addresses, just the descriptions of where they lived.frown Then we picked up some from a sweet 94y.o. who can't walk far. Same thing. Addresses unknown but brief description, which were even worse than MiLs.frown  So delivering the cards took longer than the walk, plus it was good to bump into a few people and have a chat.

Have some work to do in the garden this afternoon.

Ha ha, we have done the “it’s the one with the bay window, rose up the door, post box outside” run a few times as well!😂 keeps you fit😁

Good fun with Mum yesterday, I was helping her wrap her presents, all going well......then the sellotape dispenser went missing!🤷‍♀️ After a lot of searching, we found it. How she managed to wrap it up And fasten it with sellotape I will never know, but it provided a lot of hilarity🤣 All I have to do now is hide stuff so it cannot be re opened to check what’s inside!

Wishing those with ailments a swift recovery👍

We are off to a birthday bash this afternoon. Far too many of OH’s family have birthdays in December!😱

Afternoon in the garden didn't last long. 30 minutes and then the heavens opened.smile

The descriptions weren't as good as yours Ttda! We had one from the nice old lady that went:-

" George's house is the ones next to Toms."

    "Which one is Toms?"

    "The one next to George"

Took a little while and a lot of patience but you have to laugh.smile

My Dad used to remember people by their dogs names, "you know, Buster's owner, the long haired black and white one..." laughing

Shopping done, jeans collected from a surprisingly quiet town, they must all have gone to Edinburgh, Dundee or Glasgow.

Then on to visit big sis, she's feeling better today thankfully, seems the  cold reached its peak yesterday. Good nights sleep and she's not coughing so much, good job as they are discharging BIL from hospital.

Seems they got to the route of the infection, not as they expected a UTI but a bug in his blood. No indication of how that happened but they are now happy that his blood count is back to within normal range and he is now sleeping eating and drinking ok. He will however be on antibiotics for a while longer. OH gone to collect him.

I'm supposed to be doing my cards but I popped on here to see what everyone is up to and I've got the tv on watching Tora Tora Tora anything other than write cards laughing

Hope all goes well for the family now TG, quite a time you've been having. OH said it was quiet in our local town, they said in the shop (Argos)  it had been quiet the whole weekend.

We've actually managed to get the whole family together for lunch today up at Dad's care home - they were most apologetic about having to put the price up to £5 for a two course meal and wine!  surprised

Nice to have everyone together, only happens about twice a year, so starting to fell quite Christmasy now (usually start that around 10pm on the 24th!).

Still to find something suitable for Mrs M, despite all the "I don't want anything special "  comments I know full well what the reaction will be if there is nothing special on the big day! laughing

Thankfully, after a good rest yesterday he's nearly back to normal, WN.

After a night of heavy rain/sleet we woke to a dry  and sunny morning, although the car's windscreen was covered in ice, and the farm drive had a light covering of snow. By the time we left all was clear and we had an easy drive up here. The N York Moors were covered in snow and there was snow along the side of the A19. Had a huge choice of pitches so straight into the one we'd used last year, the nearest to the toilet block. We were amused by a couple of M/H that went round and round and round before choosing a pitch.....too much choice I guess😁

Hope that all who are feeling unwell at the moment are soon back to full health.

Nice lunch out yesterday for OH's birthday, working on that utility room before and after, and again today.  Only one more unit to assemble meantime, then all 3 to put in place, then we can start working on the large worktop.  Will be a lot of measuring and adjusting to get a good fit, so time consuming.

Day off tomorrow for hospital appointment and to finish writing our Christmas cards.

I know this is about wildlife but I thought this would have a wider readership than on the what have you seen thread.

i had a notification from the Friends of Horsey Seals to say that 2 seal pups have died at Winterton as a result of human interventions.  In one case parents allow their children to chase a pup into the sea.  Pups fur isn’t waterproof and swimming isn’t natural, consequently this pup drowned.

The second pup was surrounded by people and the mother abandoned it and it subsequently died before it could be rescue.

If you see anyone interfering with seal pups please have a word and tell them to go away, and keep dogs on leads  Seals usually leave pups on beaches whilst they return to the sea to feed.  The pups haven’t been abandoned,

Sorry for the lecture but it’s something I feel strongly about

As there seems to be a local group/charity might it be useful to have some notices to that effect on the beach? I have certainly learnt something from your post, not that I am likely to participate in such behavior but it is useful to have the knowledge.

    David

Most beaches with seals have such notices DK. Sadly some of the Neanderthals that visit can barely read. If it’s not someone’s badly behaved and over indulged little brats or pets chasing the wildlife, it will be an idiot trying to get a selfie. No respect whatsoever, very sad.

Attempting to read bits and bobs on CT but it's getting in a muddle once more.

Sorry to hear about the seals OP, good to put out the message.

    Enjoy your day TG.

Can't go out myself, just not well enough, I really should have taken out shares in Kleenex this year!

Too much to do this week but am giving myself a day off! 🎅

Glad to say the rain has held off today although it's been grey and dismal as I've had the roofer replacing my area of flat roof. Got a bit noisy up there though. Couldn't hear myself think because of THIS. That's quite apart from the drone of Merlins and a Chinook. It'll be nice to stop worrying about water leaking in, particularly after the shorting out of the ceiling light a couple of days ago.

It would appear that we have caught the 2019 WN Syndrome, as we will have to abandon our X-mas tripyell

The day started out fine and we headed over to Saltburn where we had a good walk along the front and up through the Valley Gardens. Then drove on to Marske Sands where we walked as far as Redcar. On the way back I slipped, landing on my right side and hand.  I knew straight away that something was  o right, and after spending 3 hrs in A&E I came back to the van with my wrist in plaster, as I've fractured my right radius. Should be fun getting home!!

went up to the caravan shop at West Ruston today to get a shower tap for brothers MH.  Weather was good so a very pleasant drive, returned via the coast road.

Can hear Mrs One practising on her Ukulele in the next room, think they are Xmas songs 🎼🎸
