Dark wet and windy today, lights have been on since we got up.

Have done nothing this morning just sat and plinked and plonked on my laptop laughing

Got to go into town and then some food shopping 'again' where does it all go.

OH not done anything other than wash and shave either, what a pair of lazy so and so's.

Wish I was somewhere warmer, dryer and sunny frown

Good to hear R&R and NTH had safe trips yesterday, horrible towing in wind and rain.

Yes - she just wants constant attention! That's why she loves caravanning - because we're always 'there'! She gets so excited for two or three days before we go away - she always knows something is happening and doesn't finally settle until she's in the car.

Why I felt sorry for her - was that to all intents and purposes we were off in the van again - and after 8 hours in the car - where do we end up Dad?  At home!undecided

Couldn't agree more Richard with your view of some of the posts. It's driving people away from posting.

Glad the trip went well. Good job it wasn't today. Had to laugh as I read that you had to let your Cockatoo out for a run on the beach. undecidedlaughing

Miserable day here. Had to get MiL to pick up library books from town so that they could weigh her down when she was out and about. We had to return to Mrs WNs garage near Cheshire Oaks today after a trip yesterday to fix a small problem. Unfortunately she left her ear muffs there and she doesn't go anywhere without them. Helps her Neuralgia enormously.

There was here (a very red sky), in East Yorkshire, this morning - and true to form it's blowing a stink here at the moment. Still, we're tucked up inside with a lovely log fire in the wood-burner, so all's well.  Just pleased we weren't caught out in this, towing the van back yesterday.

Hope you survive the storm intact JVB.

Locally we've had a lengthy power cut, it's been so stormy I'm surprised it didn't happen earlier. One good thing, the power company now texts everyone to let them know what's happening, just for once I was glad we had handed over our mobile phone number. I have to say it's better  than the "old" days when just a few of us lost power (cabling to posts across a field and through trees) now after many improvements the whole village loses power...winkundecided

Yep, you were lucky with your tow home yesterday, howling gale up here now. It’s dry though. We have had a very enjoyable day on site, decided not to extend after tomorrow, as I have a lot to do at home pre Xmas. Enjoyed ourselves though, touring batteries are recharged now. Should last until into early January, then we are out again. We are going to have a day with MH at Clumber, between Xmas and New Year, OH can take a bike, while I entertain Mum in MH. Something different for her to do, and it will be warm. She still likes bird watching, so I shall set up a feeder, see what nibbles we get!😁

Terrible weather here all day, fortunately seems to be improving now.

We had to go out at 8am as I was due for a scan at 9am, traffic was very bad, we only had 4 miles to drive yet it took 50 minutes.  A lot of surface water, huge puddles in some places, it looked like it would be touch  and go getting through them in the Smart, but it sits higher than you might think.

Then I had to return later for the rest of the scan, so we waited at DD's house then OH drove me back and came back later to pick me up again, by which time one car had succumbed to the puddle and a second had decided not to risk it.  OH took it very slowly and arrived safely.

The Christmas cards are now written, but defrosting the freezer will have to wait.....we both fell asleep in our recliners!

Terrible weather here as well today, rain and high winds. Very dark as well so lights on all day. More rain forecast 😫. Glad to hear that those away or travelling have coped OK so far. I hope it continues. I hope the result of your scan is good Kj.

We had a rehersal for a combined schools concert in the Cathedral this morning and then OH and I went to see youngest grand-daughter in a sing-along nativity at her school this afternoon both of which cheered up a miserable day. Our Museum Society lecture this evening was about opium consumption in the 19th century. Apparently the population in The Fens were by far the highest users! It has been a varied day 😁.

Thanks, TG. We're glad that we'd decided to come across yesterday, instead of today which has been both wet and windy at times, although not as bad as was forecast.

We did manage a couple of dry walks, one this morning by Ox Beck, near Aldi, and then another longer one along the estate road by Ripley Castle this afternoon. Rain again this evening so I guess another wet walk before bed tonight.yell

HD. I had to laugh about the horn on your car going off whenever you turned the steering wheel😂. Hope you find the problem.

Brue, isn't progress wonderful! The power networks must be very pleased with themselves now that the whole village goes off rather than just a few people 🤔 I hope you have your power back on now

well a lot can happen in less than 12 hours. I'm writing this in Amsterdam airport waiting for a connecting flight to Florence, sadly it's not a pleasure trip, a much loved relative has passed away. But she had a full life and her claim to fame was she once shook Mussolini's hand!

Glorious day here. Amazing full moon last night, I had a look around at 3am and Site was lit up as though there were lights all around. We are packed for the off, had a smashing little break, nicely rounded off by a lovely meal in pub last night, and a very competitive round of Pool. Reliving our misspent youth! Beverley beckons on the way home, should be nice.

Safe journey Corners, sad to lose someone, but helps if they had a good long life, full of fun and love.

Up very early this morning for a trip in the darkness to Wrexham for a scan. Nice decorations in some of the places en route. Everyone on time but it's still 4 hours of my life I'll never get back. Supposed to be a short wait for results.

Commiserations Corners. Pity the lady didn't shake his neck instead! Best wishes for a safe trip.

Hope the scan goes OK WN.  Travel safe Corners.

Been really busy so far, cleared office then cut a whole slew of kindling wood.  Out this evening to our Scout group Carol service at a lovely little church.

Delivered the local Christmas cards and some token Presents. Caravan all packed ready for Friday. Got to check tyre pressure and wheel torques tomorrow after voting. Delivered local cards. Grandsons Christmas presents and youngests birthday present packed in car boot in place of our camping chairs. Having a glass of scotch to fortify me before wrapping OH's Christmas presents. I hate wrapping. Then some filing to do and maybe a second scotch before prepping tonights food.

Margaret had a lunch date today but it was cancelled as everyone seems to have colds, including Margaret. We did the Christmas decorations instead including a few outdoor lights.  Can't complete with a local estate where in one close all the residents make a big thing of Christmas Decorations and over the years have raise tens of thousands of pounds for the local Hospice.

Slightly better weather wise today, still rain on and off but at least its not persisting it down like yesterday, the wind has dropped too. Think we are going to get a frost tonight.

Busy with housework this morning, getting it all clean and sorted ready to put up the dec's at the weekend.

Then it was over to the hotel to help with the 'oldies' Christmas lunch club meal and presents.

Back home and a 2hr phone call from a friend that I used to work with. She lives in another village a few miles away on the other side of the A9 we chat on the phone every couple of months, we both spend time coming and going so don't often get to meet up. They have been down to London to help their DIL and son who have just had another baby. Lots of stories to share and a few good laughs along the way.smile

Plumber now here sorting out a problem radiator which keeps leaking. House starting to get chilly so I hope he is finished soon.

WN hope the scan went ok and the results are good. OH has to go fro a CT scan at some point but no date yet as to when.

After years of checking wheel nut torques,we have used Milenco "tell tales"  which then only needs a quick glance at each wheel after each journey to note if any of the markers are off centre, smile

Sad day on Nene  park as one of the three 100yrs+Elm trees outside the visitor centre is in very poor condition because of eventually contracting Dutch Elm disease,  and to try to  save it, they have been taking off numerouse large boughs, it does look "naked" now, if it not successful it will be made into a sculpture similar to the "Guardian "at the park entranceundecided

Seem to recall reading somewhere recently that caring folk are working hard on organising Elm trees to start cross breeding . This is supposed to be a good move in the "Protect Our Elm Trees " movement.  I suppose It would be marginally more productive than discussing whether its more fun 'vanning over here or over there   ( Sneaky little  giggles fit in nicely there  laughing )

    Seriously for a moment -->  Just  had a peep out to the eastern sky and it's clear, close to freezing but with a gorgeous glowing full moon.  Could even be a base for a lovely Christmas Card but for the Houses in between.  { Now where has Brian heard such sentiments voiced before   undecided   ?? }

After what TG said recently about waiting times for a CT scan, I was very surprised that after being referred by our GP in mid November, I was given an appointment with the Endocrinologist for 2nd December, who said I would get a scan appointment within 6 weeks, and I actually got a letter almost immediately for the CT scan yesterday.

Nothing major, just a parathyroid check as my blood calcium level is a bit high.

    Great service from local NHS.

I too have reason to be thankful, to the NHS. As a precaution, I was sent for a colonoscopy, maybe 18months ago. They found some polyps, which were removed. They have since found (and removed) more. Obviously, I’m at risk, but at least the NHS have lessened said risk. What struck me was professionalism and care afforded to me, brilliant.

After my last 12 months of referrals and then Procedures also"visits" to A&E  and the scaremongering from some quarters about waiting times ,I have yet to encounter any problems, and IMHO if there is a genuine need ,then it seems the system works as is expected, Just before we came away i had three appointments at different times, but when I attended our local urgent care centre/clinic m I was informed they had noted my appointments and arranged for them to follow each other and true to their word as i came out of seeing one cardio nurse I was called for my next and then the third to see the cardio consultant I went by bus arrived at 1205 for first appt at 2125 and after all three was on the 1315 bus to homecool

Well the NHS provided very poor service for my neighbour Sunday Night/Monday Morning. I spoke with him on the phone on Sunday morning. He said that he had problems with heavy bruising on his leg and had been bed bound and resting much of the time since Friday. On Sunday at around 8.30pm he spoke to his doctor who, for various reasons, wanted him in hospital. He is a sick man of around 85 and his wife is much younger and fit. However both of them had to forgo sleep whilst awaiting an ambulance which turned up at shortly after 3.30am.

Our East of England Ambulance service is always in the headlines for poor service, but have always been good for my emergencies,I think it depends on the information they are given by the other healthcare services (doctors) as to how they prioritise their response times when busy especially at weekends
