What are you all up to

It's been another busy day preparing the walls for painting. Lots of dust and then I managed to drop the tin of paint. ...oops.
Put the "dry clean" only curtains in the washing machine and they have survived bit of expense spared
I shall be glad to get back to work for a rest.

Horrible horrible day here, windy, rain pelting the windows hasn't stopped all day.
Upside is that its not cold so another 4 or 5 hours in the attic sorting out more stuff. Have finally got a bit of order up there, been asking OH to do that for ages. If you want a job doing .............
Then down stairs sorting out bags and bags of wool, this is from hand knitting. Worked out what I want to keep the rest can go to the knit and natter group along with some knitting needles I don't need.
Couple of bags of things to go to charity shop, more to go to the skip, photos taken of things to sell.
CY, our MH had the seat belt warning come up a few days before an over there trip. Thankfully the garage was able to sort it straight away at the cost of £400
it was the ECU that had gone. Ours was a Peugeot boxer and it was a known fault, we were just out of the warranty period but managed to get Peugeot to contribute half the cost. Hopefully yours will just be a simple fix.

We've been watching the forecast for over week now R&R, and booked our site for tomorrow as that seemed to be the best of the days. We will be towing over towards the east so any wind should be behind us, hopefully. We have heavy rain at the moment but it is forecast to die away through the night.

What a weird site this is, to be sure
. Just posted on " Introductions " then scrolled south to see what you all are doing & find my Post has popped up on the Over-seas touring thread the same as the other two responses -- I've never seen that happen before
Hope the Club don't charge me double this year

It's strange that it shows in both places on the right of the categories but if you click the link that appears in the Introductions it takes you to Overseas. I did the same thing!!! Often people unfamiliar with the forum post in the first section they see because they are unsure of where to post. Easy enough for us to move if need be.

Have a safe journey, Nellie. I've just checked the weather reports along our route and it's looking OK. As you can see, it's an early start for us because I want to leave here by 6am and be in Tebay by 9am to give us as much daylight as possible for the journey back home.

Back to reality today after a weekend off. We had very old friends to stay (old as in same age as me to within a day, and friends since ballroom dancing lessons in the 60's). It's wonderful to have someone that you can say anything to, or produce a less than elegant pudding, and they don't judge you.
So lots of food, drink and talk. And celebrating from the "girls" when we soundly beat the "boys" at Canasta.
But this morning the alarm went off at 04:58 (so we're alert enough to listen to the 05:00 News) and OH is wrapped up well and working outside. Paperwork and making dinner for me. This afternoon someone is coming down from Radio Cumbria to record and talk about us hedging. If it's OK it will probably be on The Great Outdoors on Thursday night. Always worth a listen even if we're not on!

A very windy night here, but we are hunkered down snugly out of the worst of the wind. Blue skies and sunshine at the moment. We were up at Grosmont enjoying all the train activities yesterday, then into a great little cafe for some tasty soup in front of a roaring stove.
I’d post a photo, but......🙄

Very windy overnight and early this morning. Got up to lovely bright sunshine and almost clear skies what a change, must have had frost in the early hours as a few twinkles of ice showing in wet patches out of the sun.
OH had an appointment at GP's this morning, his Ultrasound came back normal. So next stage is a referral and CT scan. Doctor said he's fairly confident there is nothing wrong, as all the tests are coming back normal. However he can't be 100% sure, hence the referral and CT scan to put minds at ease.
To wet and chilly for outdoor work so more sorting of cupboards and drawers indoors.
Safe journey to NTH and R&R.

Goldie, Its good to see that you have recovered enough from the dreaded lurgy and flying dust motes to get the pudding basins out and sharpen those 'card dealers finger ' reflexes & enjoy yourselves while Hedging your bets
HuskyD, always good to hear that your Lady has not suffered from " Anti-Surgeryitis " following her recent operation, thus allowing her to organise the shoulder surgery with a calm outlook.
P.S. / Edit -- Does that mean you got such Good Marks for your recent "Solo Run " that you are being trusted to do it again, Sam even if you are actually HD
TammyG, it is great to know that your OH is getting a full workover to ensure his physical status is as good as it can be. Too many reports over the last few months of people not getting the proper checks done when needed and suffering badly as a result.

GP appointment this AM and then more Christmas shopping, which finished me off for the rest of the day! High wind speeds coming in tonight so it will be noisy yet again but at least it was dry today.
TG. Good to hear the first check up went well for your OH.
Goldie, I have a close friend from primary school, since we were five, she is the only one except my sister who can go right back to our beginnings so we can chunter away about anything! Glad you all had a nice weekend.

Went into CMK today to try and get the bulk of our Christmas shopping done. Not totally successful but we made progress. We parked in the new high tech multi storey car park but because it was busy we had to use level four, or the roof!!! Got back to car park and paid our £1 for two hours (four minutes to spare!) Got back to car and as soon as we hit the downward ramp it was chock a block as cars from all floors were trying to exit. When we got to the barrier it normally opens automatically but this time no. I had to pay another pound before the barrier would open! When I got back I emailed the company and they said they allow 15 minutes between payment and exit, it took us 19 minutes. They have offered to refund but I was trying to impress on them that they need to be a bit more flexible at busy times.

Quite sunny here today, but cold. Forecast for tomorrow is more rain and wind.
Work on utility room still progressing slowly, and tomorrow we have booked an afternoon off to write our Christmas cards and defrost a freezer, then we are back "on duty" for the rest of the week.ŵ

Thanks R&R, Hope that you made it back home safe and sound. It was a bit windy over by the coast when we set off but by the time we got to further inland the wind had dropped and the journey was fine, in beautiful sunny weather. We're the only van on site so had our pick of H/S. Cold but a little breeze after lunch but invigorating walk brought a colour back to our cheeks. Clear sky tonight so there will be a hard frost tonight I expect.

Phew, Evening all -- I've just got thro' 400 slides, evening meal and associated all cards with correct sized envelopes so not a bad result
. I can visit The Aged One tomorrow with a clear conscience and a packet of cat treats for Alfie and a ( smaller ) one for the visiting whippet mutt - Brian does like animals, is a fully fledged member of R S P B , but cheerfully admits to really liking moggies
. Back on here to check up on you lot, then a nice warm bed will be calling, so , in case I snooze over my keyboard, I'll wish you all a fond fare well & Good Night

Yes we did, thanks Nellie (and TG) - although 7 hours driving and 4 of those with the van on the back was about as much as I could cope with.
We nearly turned round on the way there when we stopped off at Wettherby services - it was much windier than had been forecast and when I checked the forecast for back home, the 17mph winds had suddenly become 44+!!!!
Fortunately, it had died down a lot by the time we got to Tebay and the steady journey at 50mph on the motorway went without incident. I think the van being 8' wide and fairly heavy, helped.
Now safely 'tucked in' on the drive - just have to start loading it prior to going to Sandringham for Christmas.

Very wet and windy here today. A contrast to yesterday which was perfect hedging weather.
I'm reading posts on this thread as light relief from ones in some more serious sections of this forum. Nitpicking and point scoring abounds.
The photo is not from the blue sky day of yesterday, but last week. Whatever the weather the work goes on. Today it's plumbing for some new equipment in the dairy. (A Milk Taxi).

Strangely enough I was admiring some hedge laying on the Montacute Estate yesterday, a nice run of it, you don't see much around and it always looks good. Mind you I don't know how they managed it years ago when the rest of farming was done by hand too, the general work is hard enough even now.

Nice hedging Goldie.
Glad you survived your pick up R&R, I was thinking of you yesterday, it certainly was blowing a bit yesterday morning. But a beautiful day later. Foul outside now though.

"I'm reading posts on this thread as light relief from ones in some more serious sections of this forum. Nitpicking and point scoring abounds."
I'm pleased I'm not the only one that thinks that, Goldie. I thought we were all on here to enjoy our hobby / way of life - and to help each other if possible. Some of the 'discussions' are more akin to what might be heard in the school playground rather than between mature adults!

Thanks TTDA - kind of you. I expected the wind to increase as we went west on the A66, but the reverse happened. Just shows how unpredictable the weather really is!
The one I felt sorry for was Meg, our Cockapoo. 8 hours in the car - in her cage - and never complains. She had a good run on the beach, this morning just to make up for it, though

Very strong winds here, once more, OH is convinced we're going to lose a tree (a sixty foot birch with a bit of a lean!) I hope we don't as it's one of three and it will look odd with just two...
Waiting for various deliveries today so am stuck till they arrive.

I think if your car is comfy, and there are regular toilet stops and leg stretches, Meg would rather be with you!😁 Our Lab goes everywhere with us, in back boot space of Jeep. Plenty of room, warm but not stifling, he loves it. He has a permanent “where are we now” expression on his face. So long as his Dad is close by, he is happy. ❤️
