It's been quite a week, for some reason we decided to decorate downstairs, I know we are quite mad starting just before Christmas
We are taking up the carpet, which has been down since we moved in and will replace with laminate. Room cleared and Wallpaper has been stripped off, and new paper and paint bought ready.
We have had a bit of a break today as we had a get together with both sons and partners. Eldest son got engaged a few weeks ago and it was youngest sons girlfriends birthday so it was a bit of a celebration. OH made a vegan version of his tea loaf which worked well.
It will be back to the decorating tomorrow,.

Bright, warmish day here. Went to church this morning to view the Christmas Tree Festival. Over 40 decorated trees from various local charities so really good. Next went to ex works breakfast club unfortunately a lot of talk centres on the dead and dying. On the way home called in at slashers for a haircut. Finally got home just as Mrs One was leaving to take her cub group to the circus. Afternoon spent making like a couch potato 🥔

I was bit like you, Helen, as I completed the decorating in the dining room, following the replacement of a window with a set of patio doors. Loaded some bits and pieces into the van while it was still dry this morning and before our morning walk. Rained on and off during the afternoon, and strong winds forecast for tonight and tomorrow. Sounds like you had plenty to celebrate today.

Winter touring is very much alive and kicking here in Yorkshire!😁 CL we are on is full, two vans, three MHs. We passed another small site we like to use on way up, that looked busy as well. We love being out this time of year, all the interesting market towns like Thirsk, Helmsley, Pickering Etc... look lovely and festive. Bought four more balls of wool in Thirsk, two great shops there, so I will be busy this trip. It’s rather mild as well surprisingly up here on Moors.
I thought your machine might be a bit of a beastie TG.

The "new" utility room is coming along slowly. Ceiling all painted and new lights installed, at least I can see what I am doing now without having to use my head torch.
New vertical radiator hung up but not yet connected to the system as that will need it to be switched off and drained down a bit.
DD had a last minute change of plan and wanted the lights to be 2 way controlled with a second switch at the side door as they often come and go that way, so I had to lay in an additional new cable, which we did today as she was available to assist.
Yesterday I removed the units and the sink etc after fitting additional valves to turn off the water to that area only. The original house was extended and split into 2 flats back in the 70s, but the main incoming water pipe has not been altered and the stop cock in DD's bit also turns off the water to the upstairs flat, which is not ideal! The fellow upstairs is very pleasant and says it is not a problem when this has to happen, but we will be trying to find a solution to this at some point in the not too distant future.
So the second wall is now clear and we have started altering the position of the existing sockets and adding control switches for the WM and TD above the worktop, as per the current way of doing things.
Old flooring now removed and all debris taken to the local dump, the garage was getting pretty full.
Tomorrow will be continuing with the electrics now DD has decided where everything is going, then the wall will have to be made good before we can start installing the new units.
We have treated ourselves to a new bread maker for Christmas, one that can also do rye bread and sour dough, so DD will inherit our present one. Have made one ordinary loaf in the new one so far, and just now set it to make a sour dough starter, should be interesting.

Christmas has begun here! We had our annual family outing to Anglesey Abbey lights - 13 of us. Only the N. Ireland branch of the family were missing but we will see them for Christmas. It was such a lovely evening. Great to get the family together and the lights were amazing.

Absolutely ABM, we will be at our son's house on Christmas day and have booked our bed for the night as he lives about 1 hour away. He keeps a good wine selection, and is into good whisky too, so looking forward to it. No doubt the food will also be excellent.

We have the 2512, it’s predecessor. I don’t think it’s ever made a bad loaf. I’ve thought about taking it away, in the caravan, but SWMBO has already said “we take away enough as it is!”. As you do, I’ve tried several different types of flour, but this one takes some beating...

Thanks, will look out for that one next time we are in Sainsburys. We also like the stoneground wholewheat that you can buy at the National Trust mills, just wish they had more working ones.
Once this current "renovation project" comes to an end, which is likely to be a while yet as DD has quite a long list, we hope to have more time to experiment with various flour types

Took the MH to Tesco yesterday to top up with fuel to take advantage of a 10p off coupon. Fired up and got a 'check airbag' message which continued to nag me intermittently. Fiddled around with the menu, turning the passenger airbag on and off to see it that managed to clear it. Wiggled the wires under the seats. Still no success. Don't you just long for the days when life and vehicles were simpler?

Haven't used our breadmaker for awhile, glad to have one.
OH is still in the process of fixing our van heater, it might involve moving gas parts to do the repair so he'll ask our local man to look at it. At present this will have to wait unless we take the van out after Christmas, I think after busy festivities we might like a day out.
Saw neighbours putting up strings of outside lights yesterday but glad we didn't do ours as the winds speeds will be pretty fierce today.

As I said yesterday we went to our Christmas tree festival at our local church. All the trees were dressed etc. by Charity groups. One local dementia group had the following poem draped over their tree. I have to admit that it touched me deeply, so I've copied it below.
The Poem
Some sad news this year
I have dementia I’m being positive but I hope it’s slow
I’m looking forward to the festivities but I’d like you to know
All the anticipation the do’s …and the sparkles, bangs, bells and chaos, hard work and sprouts……..feel like Paddington Station….Woosh.
Friends pass me by ‘ Don’t leave me out! Smiles without seeing,
Pretending everything’s OK,…..wait!.... I’m lost like to hide away.
The grandchildren, all the names it’s not the love bit that’s the problem
It’s remembering what they’re called
I was the one everyone came to,
Putting up shelves, doing magic tricks. Now they say “don’t worry yourself” as if
They no longer trust me. There’s a little voice in my head says ‘bout right’
But I want to need to feel of use.
Sometimes if you help me you can disable me more than the illness….So
There’s no change but it’s all change
And another year ahead
It may be foggy but there is potential
Don’t pity me, stroke me, make a mess of my hair
Don’t want it to be over yet

Absolutely! We have a periodic “brake warning” light that comes and goes on MH. It first appeared day we fetched her home from passing MOT just to add insult to injury. Apparently just a sensor located to indicate brake pad wear, and not even in each wheel. OH took our wheels off and checked all pads, all fine, nothing amiss. We just put it down to all blasted rain this year, and carry on regardless. Doesn’t half make you jump though when it bleeps!😲

We had our twice yearly meet up with my old work colleagues last evening - all of us retired now but, seemingly, more active than ever! Nice to catch up with everyone's news.
Mrs M has several social engagements and Christmas meals out this week so will have to pop along to Sainsburys later to stock up on pizzas etc!
Off to see Dad later this morning and try to sort out his proxy vote for Thursday - I suspect the forms are somewhere in his room and it may be too late to organise it anyway (not that we're in anything like a marginal seat!
)
Next Sunday we've actually managed to get the whole family together for lunch up at his care home - they very apologetically told us they've had to put the price up - to £5 a head for 3 courses and wine!

Lovely poem Oneputt. Mrs WNs father passed away a few Christmases ago from Dementia. Even towards the end there was still a spark if you could find the right button to press. I read an article this week where Michael Palin was saying that Terry Jones who has dementia is uncommunicative but laughed at some jokes when MP read them to him, but only the ones Terry had written.
Clearing the rubbish out of the house and garage this morning so a full load to the tip. Might make some mince pies this afternoon.

Me too - except in my case it's the "Auto Hold" light that keeps coming and going. Nothing wrong with the system, so I just ignore it. Not like the engine management light that came on a couple of week's ago, though. That was traced to a faulty NOX sensor and it cost me nearly £500 to get it replaced (the new sensor alone was nearly £300) - goodness knows what the bill would have been if I had gone to a main dealer
Gone are the days when a hammer and spanner would fix most engine problems!

Mum has dementia. She’s doing ok though. Still physically active, and she’s out with one of us most days, which keeps her mentally active as well. Hardest thing for all of us....... she wakes up every morning asking for Dad, and we have to explain that he’s not here anymore. Two years and counting, heartbreaking.😥

Trawling though all the weather forecast sites, trying to decide whether or not we are going to be able to collect the caravan from the dealer's in Tebay, Cumbria, tomorrow - after the repair following the 'air rifle' incident. It's been there nearly a month now and as daft as it sounds, we actually miss having the van on the drive.
It doesn't look as if the storm is going to affect the north as badly as it appears to be hitting the south-west and the predicted 40/50 mph winds are now predicted to be a manageable 17-20mph - so I'm hoping we'll be in a 'go' situation.

Delivering Church Christmas Cards this morning, about 250 between us. It's amazing how far you can walk up and down paths 2.5 miles covered. Only four eaten by the dog😂 and 3 declined, which is about average. I do dislike the letter boxes about 6 inches off the floor, they are not very back friendly. A couple of folk aren't going to be very popular with the postman. They had put Christmas bows so tightly across the door, it was almost impossible to get anything into the letterbox.
